Buyer Beware -- Cutters Landscaping Let Me Down I'm honestly not sure how Cutters Landscaping has so many five star reviews because my experience was anything but five star. Things started off well enough, but the quality dropped fast and the disappointment just kept piling up. I hired them to install a full xeriscape design which included removing old mulch, laying compacted road base, weed barrier, and topping with crushed granite along with planting drought tolerant landscaping. A large amount of mulch was left behind in the front flower beds, side landscaping, and other smaller areas around the house. I was told there would be a proper compacted road base followed by weed block. When I asked why there was no road base, the crew casually claimed it was mixed in with the crushed granite. That is not even close to what we discussed at the start of the project. Then came the real corner cutting. They ran out of weed block and instead of taking the time to get more and finish the job right, they dumped crushed granite straight over mulch and dirt. I see why they are called Cutters. It is because they cut corners and hope you do not notice. When I pointed out the mulch bleeding through and that the work was clearly unfinished, I was met with attitude instead of ownership. As a retired veteran I know the meaning of integrity and this was not it. If you are looking for a company that will actually listen to your vision and deliver with professionalism, care, and follow through, do not use Cutters. No matter the cost and I paid over $10K, if you are hiring someone to do a job especially in a market full of competition you expect the basics; quality work, clear communication, and someone who gives a damn after being paid. Instead I got excuses, rushed work, and silence once the check cleared. No one came to check the final product. No one followed up to ask if I was happy. It was like once they got the money I no longer existed. I've taken the quality control into my own hands and corrected the remaining lazy, incompetent work to ensure the value I put into this project actually shows. read more

We have worked with Cutters on two projects now. The first was terracing our backyard, installing turf in certain areas, lueder stone walk way, sod, and sprinklers. They did a great job. Just as important as the quality of work was that they communicated well and did exactly what they said they would. Having done significant construction on our home and worked with a variety of contractors and trades this was by far our best experience. Due to our great experience with them on that project we hired them to demo and build our decks. This was a few thousand square feet of deck including second story decks, stairs and additional sqft below. They just finished and it not only looks fantastic is was incredibly well built. I sent an email to Cutter's on June 6 regarding our fireplace build. I felt the need to bring up the issues I had with Cutter's in a private manner, because they never replied to my email I feel the need to air my grievances. sent to: admin@cutterslandscape.com I would like to give you our thoughts after working with Cutters. As you know we provided a detailed plan to Cutters for our project. We understood that variations would be made, but a precise plan leaves no room for misinterpretation from the start. Communication with Cutters was absolutely terrible during the project. First off, sales told us the project would take 3 weeks to complete, that was a huge miss (project took over 3 months). I asked multiple times about the chimney cap with no answers. After a months of asking I was sent options. I selected one, came back from vacation and it's totally different. The fireplace opening is much smaller than the plan (if this is due to a functional issue that's fine, but COMMUNICATE). We also had additional, custom gutter work done. We told the team we'd be on vacation, but they sent people to do the work anyway. We spent hours on the phone figuring out what was being built. We were on a boat, so that wasn't easy. Its seems sales and the PM do not communicate and sales is not aware of what goes into a build. We've used the fireplace 3 times and it doesn't properly draft. The smoke mostly goes out the fireplace opening rather than up the chimney. Esthetically the stucco is popping off in about 7 spots. You sent someone to patch some of the holes and it looks worse than the original divots. The situations above were only a few of the headaches, but the most important. We are not asking for anything. Charlie always responded to our calls or texts and he worked with us to choose options that would stay within our budget. - The same crew showed up on time every day. - The crew was respectful of our property and our neighbors. (They never left trash lying around.) We had multiple neighbors comment to us how impressed they were with Cutters Crew. - The work was high-quality and the attention to detail was unmatched. You can tell that they love what they do. -They stand by their work. After the work was finished, we noticed that a sprinkler needed repair, and a separate area ended up needing a drain.
