Great experience having Robert and his crew fill in our sunken living room. They were on-time, courteous, and really took the time to get the job done right, including listening to my concerns. The job came out great, and they'll be my first call for future projects. Thanks, guys!

    6x5 & 9x9 poured in half a day

They returned my phone call promptly and came out for an estimate very quickly. The job was done well, we're happy with the results, and I was pleased that they also buried a couple of hooks into one of the pads they poured for us, so we could tie down things that might have a tendency to sail away in the high winds we sometimes get in the backyard. The crew was very polite, they worked like crazy even though it was BLAZING hot back there. Robert (the owner I think) is everything Austin, if you've read any other reviews yes he does show up in bare feet, but he was wearing a mask (for covid, if you're reading this a year from now and are like "a mask?") and that's all I really cared about. I read a review here someone wrote a few years back that mentioned that "Robert doesn't do phones", he definitely does phones now, was quick to call me back every time I called (but I guess it's email he doesn't "do" now, I mean, if it's his own business, he can "do" whatever makes him money I guess). We still went with these guys because of a neighbor's very high recommendation and photos, along with all the yelp reviews. The price quoted was fair, the work was done well, and very quickly. It's always good to know someone who does good work, we'll be calling them again.

I found Austin Concrete Construction years ago on Yelp. We had them bid on a project we never ended up doing. It had nothing to do with their bid; we simply sold our home. Fast forward a few years, our new home needed the driveway to be widened. You could not pass two cars if one was in the garage and another in the driveway, despite being a 2-car garage. Robert came out to the house in his signature barefoot attire. We walked through the project, he took some measurements and told me he'd be in touch with a quote. The quote was reasonable, given how thick and strong the concrete had to be (support a diesel truck). He gave me some upcoming dates and we locked one down. Robert has been specializing in residential concrete for Austinites since the 70s. His son and two other employees have been with him since the early 90s. They are a staple in our community. And for good reason. They arrived on time (8:15 AM) and ready to go. They had the form and rebar ready to go by lunchtime. The concrete truck showed up at 12:30 and was gone by 1 PM. The finishing work and forms were removed around 2:30 PM. As promised, this was a 1-day job for exactly what was quoted. They walked me through how the new section was reinforced and attached to the existing driveway. They also helped slope it to drain water properly. Despite being towards the side of the property and abutting the fence, they still did the finish work on the sides of the new slab. Best of all, they helped accommodate our 8-month old daughter's handprint into the concrete. They thanked us for our business, cleaned up every last bit of debris, and were on their way before 3 PM. I have nothing but great things to say and recommend you use them for your concrete needs. The price is fair and the work is exceptional.

Robert and his crew are the best! Way back they installed paths and a patio in my backyard. Their work stands the test of time and still looks great! I needed to redo my driveway and knew Robert was the one to call. Every time it rained my driveway flooded and I had to wear high water waders to get to my car and mailbox. Robert studied the situation and figured out a way to redo the driveway so it would drain and not need pumps. The original driveway had not been installed using rebar and had gradually sunk in the middle and that's where the water pooled and spread. Robert is an expert craftsman and his crew is very professional and polite. One of his men, Michael, went out of his way to help me find keys I had dropped! Robert is the only one I'll call for my concrete needs!

Home ownership is a blessing that comes with many special joys & burdens. Unless you're an old school renaissance man like my dad, you as a home owner must eventually face the crap-shoot of hiring someone (if you're lucky, an honest & skilled craftsman) to build or repair something on your property. Unfortunately, we have learned the hard-way on several occasions that on any kind of home improvement project you undertake, something can & will go wrong. It's going to take at least twice as much time as you thought to complete (because the workers will only show up every 3rd day), it's going to cost you twice as much money as you had budgeted, and the final outcome is going to be below your original modest expectations, which by this time, you will have thrown out the window, willing to accept just about anything to get the dang project complete so that you can once again use that part of your house and get back to life-before-the-project. We'd been living in our home for about 6 years before we finally had the courage (and savings) to undertake our biggest home improvement project to date -- getting a concrete driveway installed. All these years, we've been driving, parking, and walking on caliche (dusty white rocks, for you non-geologists) every day, twisting our ankles and tearing up our high heels (okay, that was probably just me), and creating dust clouds with every pass in and out of the yard. With the arrival of our son, we knew the day was coming when learning to ride a tricycle would require a smoother surface, but so many bad experiences with contractors and handymen made us dread the prospect of tearing up our front yard. After doing extensive research online, with Angie's List, and with friends in the building industry, we selected 3 businesses to come out for bids. Of those, Robert Russo of Austin Concrete Construction gave us the best price per square foot, offered better materials for reinforcing the slabs, and promised (weather permitting) to be finished in a week. It was a rare pleasure to deal with Austin Concrete. Robert was true to his word and personally supervised the job. He was first to arrive and last to leave each day, and except for the couple of rainy days, he and his crew were working on our driveway every consecutive weekday until the job was done. He helped us design the best layout for the 3,800 square foot project, and his decades of experience were an advantage when foul weather meant shifting priorities and activities of the workers dealing with such an unforgiving medium as fresh concrete. We got a kick out of watching Robert pad around the yard each day in bare feet, like some kind of Zen master who was communicating with the earth and the concrete, coaxing it into doing his bidding. If you look at the website and see a shirtless, gray-haired man working a machine that pats down wet concrete, that's Robert. He's gotta be over 60 (70?), but his upper body is ripped from the hard physical labor he puts in at his business. He owns and manages the company, but he's out there getting dirty & sweaty with everyone else. He's the kind of man who pays a fair wage and has no trouble keeping a reliable team of employees. Bonus: My two year old son was in awe of the cement mixer trucks and all the other machinery, and Robert & his crew were very patient with him. Robert even set up a play area so that our boy could do some of his own work smoothing out some cement.

I was given Robert's name from a friend who had had a few patios poured by Austin Concrete. He came out and gave me a quote the next day and even hipped me to the fact that I could increase the size of the pour and it would not cost much more since you pay for the concrete by the truck load. My patio was in the back of the house, a good bit away from the driveway and I thought that would mean renting a concrete pumper, but to my surprise, all of the concrete was brought in by wheel barrow and Robert and his crew of about seven quickly and efficiently trucked the concrete in and had it professionally finished in just a few hours. Robert uses a sturdy mix of a rebar grid and a thicker layer with extra reinforcement around the edge. It blends seamlessly with my existing patio and I am so happy with the result. The price was very reasonable and I will definitely trust Robert and crew with my next project. Trust the barefoot concrete guy with your next concrete job!

The new patio for our structure.

The bare footed Robert and his crew have always completed solid work for our property. This is the second time we've had them complete work for us and we will not hesitate to call on them again for more concrete work. Robert and his crew offered input to improve upon our ideas and honestly executed while staying on budget. One of the crew accidentally broke some of our (inexpensive) yard art and quickly let us know so that we were not surprised. It was an honest mistake and we appreciated the communication. This is a good crew that completes good work on time, and within budget.

They did a great job with our drive way and some stairs around an existing patio! Very professional and nice crew. They made suggestions on how we could make things look better and graded the driveway so it drains really nicely. Would recommend to anybody and would use them again.

Austin Concrete Construction did a great job expanding my back 10' X 10' patio to a 10' X 20' new patio. Great crew and job! Recommended!!

I found out about Austin concrete through a Google search and saw the many Yelp reviews so I thought to give them a call for a free quote. Robert was easy to deal with and gave us an estimate in person a day or so after my initial phone call. After I approved the quoted price, he set an estimated start date of about 10 days or so. A few days later, I received a call on Sunday afternoon asking if he and the crew could start the project on Wednesday. That was earlier than expected, but I was happy to get my 10' X 10' back patio slab flattened and increased in size. The crew started the work around 0945 and the cement truck showed up at around 11:30. They removed a portion of my fence to ease in the back and forth wheelbarrow trips with cement and they replaced the fence upon completion. From start to cleanup, it was roughly 4.5 hours. Everyone worked well together as I had taken many pictures throughout the processes as I was walking around during the whole patio transformation. I would recommend Robert and his crew to anyone....they were easy and friendly to deal with.

Scope of the project included covering an existing concrete slab. Alex made sure to add 3-4 inch rebar dowels every 24 inches and wire mesh to give the new layer something finer to hold on to, in addition to the binding agent for a more firm fusion. We also paid extra for the 3,500 PSI rated concrete given the Texas heat. Further, he extended the sides of our driveway, replacing the paver stone and gravel with level concrete. This also included fixing part of the walkway that had been pushed up by Live Oak roots, which was a tripping hazard, and now forming a smooth transition. Alex was also great when it came to pricing. He was very transparent, and me not being a concrete guy, asked a good friend who's been a general contractor for 30+ years to review the proposal and methods, and follow the work, all of which he said was done expertly. I'd highly recommend Ace for your concrete needs.

After weeks of delay due to "fabricating brick", multiple no-shows for days of work, and difficulty getting a hold of anyone from Jacks Stone Masonry, we cancelled the project when we came home one evening to see cement board painted as brick bring placed on our the exterior of our house. His subcontractors, Gio and Matt, were unable to get a hold of John as well. They repeatedly stalled, showed up late, and had excuses as to why the work wasn't being done to what we agreed upon. They told us that the "brick they were fabricating kept breaking" or "couldn't dry in time" so they pivoted to purchasing cement board to paint. In addition to the work not being done, damage was caused to our roof where they screwed in boards through our shingles to "sit" on while they worked. We are moving forward with legal action to try recoup losses.

When I look back at what made our family choose Green Ease Landscapes & Design, three things stood…read moreout: design expertise, clear and timely communication, and experience to back a vision for what our home could be. That vision has been further realized with the help of Green Ease. The following is a pretty detailed review of our positive experience with Green Ease, owner William P, and his crew. In short: You're going to get a solid service with them, so feel confident trusting them for your landscaping needs. My family's home had suffered a great deal of erosion over the years that required some foundation work. While we were pleased to get that done and over with, the truth is that the front and back yards were just unsightly. The front yard was essentially just dirt and roots. The large oak trees had prevented grass from growing, and the water run-off had exposed the massive roots that made walking outside a danger to everyone. In the back, water would collect and stagnate forming a mud swamp that oversaturated the grass. The back yard was literally being used as a storage area because we would never allow guests back there. Aside from a much-needed design overhaul, our home desperately needed drainage infrastructure to prevent further damage and allow the yard to actually function as an outdoor space. Our initial conversations began after I found Green Ease online and reviewed their mix of hardscaping, landscaping, and xeriscaping pictures and services. We were interested in xeriscaping from a water conservation prospective, and because we knew that the amount of shading in our lot just wouldn't make growing grass sustainable. We also knew that no matter what aesthetic we went with, it was critical to divert water in a way that lessened the chance of further foundation damage and swamp-like conditions in our yard. Those were our priorities, and everything else would be nice-to-haves. Green Ease was far away from us and their typical service area, but we took a chance and gave them a call. Owner William P. agreed to meet with us. He surveyed the property and made several recommendations; the core of which involved creating a retaining wall in the front of the home, installing drainage in the back yard, and utilizing a combination of xeriscaping and turf to uplift the overall look of the home. He took the time to ask my parents what they would like and how they would use the space, and then suggested we consider expanding the patio a bit so that there would be more room in the backyard to sit and enjoy the outdoors. After taking a few measurements, he provided a rough estimate of his work right then and there. We asked for some time to think things over. This was an investment, and we needed to be confident. We got bids from two other landscape design companies. One landscaping company refused to provide an honest bid without committing to a design fee, and the other provided a bid very similar to Green Ease, only after asking us to provide a design concept for the work. In the end, no one but Green Ease provided the design expertise and level of communication that we felt comfortable moving forward with. Once we agreed to move forward, William came out and we discussed the scope of work in a second detailed walk-through, and reviewed expectations and timelines. When work was set to begin, we visited with him to pick out hardscaping materials, and a selection of plants that would fit into our xeriscaped design. William made recommendations; many of which we went with, but we also felt very comfortable choosing another option if we would've had a different design element we wanted to achieve. When we met the crew, we knew we were in good hands. Every one of the crew members treated my folks with a great deal of respect. We hope that they left feeling proud of the work they did, because they did a damn good job. We allowed for a good deal of crew-based decision-making simply because of our busy schedule, and we were happy with all of the decisions they made. I especially want to shout out the fact that there were small but meaningful accommodations made in the design that made it safer and easier for my folks, who are up in their years, to navigate. I'm not sure that level of detail and consideration would've happened with another crew or another company. In the end, what we discussed during our first consult with Green Ease was ultimately what we received as a final product. There were no major surprises that you sometimes get from vision to execution. The front yard and its retaining wall and xeriscaped stone and plants are amazing, the back yard's turf and flagstone patio are beautiful, and the garden area that allows for native plants to flourish are all so visually appealing. We're incredibly grateful for the superb work they completed on our home. We chose Green Ease because we felt William would help realize our vision in a manner that was detail-oriented. That was exactly what we got.

The existing landscape was…read moreovergrown from the builder's original plantings over 20 years earlier, and the previous owners' plantings had never been approved by the HOA and were also overgrown. After drawing up rudimentary front and backyard plans, I began looking for contractors that were highly reviewed. Good communication was an important aspect of this. Green Ease, owned by William Paquette, was the final choice. William met us at the house within a few days of my contacting him. He came across as competent and knowledgeable. He gave his initial estimate very quickly, and we found it to be reasonable relative to one other. The landscape plan included a curved limestone retaining wall, irrigation changes, a metal raised bed, and 2 cedar structures (a simple arbor and a trellis). Plants were included, as well as drip irrigation. William accompanied us to a nearby stone yard and wholesale nursery to make selections for stone, gravel, mulch, and plants. The number of plants included in the bid was determined based on the area being landscaped. The nursery products looked very nice when we made selections. Work began within a few weeks and was managed by Chris. William stopped by a few times. Chris also built a custom metal raised bed. A friend of William's built an amazing and substantial trellis and a cedar arbor. Plants were picked up just before they were to be installed, and I was allowed to place them. The project was deemed finished and was paid for, but there were a few things needing corrections. William was responsive and able to fit these fixes in within a few weeks. The positive aspects of this landscaping experience included excellent communication with William, his accompanying us to the stone yard and nursery, well-executed stone work, and the superb trellis and arbor. The guys did a great job of removing old plantings and filling in areas where new sod was needed. The negatives included areas I felt were not as well executed as they could have been, and are the reason for deducting one star on this review. The steel bed, while nicely made, did not fit flush against the patio and was filled with poor quality soil before I noticed the gap between bed and patio. The first "fix" by Chris was putting gravel into the gap and using mortar to seal the ends. The mortar cracked, and a second "fix" of steel being welded to hold the gravel in was done. It's functional but not pretty. Also, the plants that were brought in were definitely not the quality of those we looked at with William. Virtually all of them were leggy, and many looked unhealthy. Several ended up being replaced. I was also not happy that the arbor was positioned without first verifying the desired location. Still, the overall appearance of the landscape is very good, with the standout custom features. Green Ease is a business I would recommend to others. They handle every aspect of landscaping and do a good job.
