I had a deeply concerning experience at this CVS pharmacy that raises serious patient safety issues. On 04/09/2026, my mother-in-law visited in person and spoke directly with the pharmacist manager, Tina J., to request an urgent refill for my 5-month-old infant. My child was recently discharged from the NICU and requires oxygen support and G-tube feeding, so the inhaler medication is critical. Tina J. acknowledged the urgency, took down all the details, and assured us she would immediately contact the hospital pharmacy (Advocate Health, Park Ridge) to have the prescription transferred electronically. She stated the process would take about five minutes and that she would follow up once completed. None of that happened. There was no documentation, no communication to staff, and no follow-up. Calls to the pharmacy went unanswered. When I arrived the next day (04/10) expecting to pick up the medication, I was told nothing had been initiated. Because of this failure, I had to urgently find a 24-hour pharmacy to ensure my medically fragile infant would not go without essential medication over the weekend. This is not just poor customer service--this is a breakdown in basic pharmacy responsibility and accountability. When a pharmacist is clearly informed that a medication is critical for a vulnerable patient and commits to immediate action, failure to follow through puts patient health at risk. It is concerning to think about how many times this may have happened to others without being addressed. Terrible service in the pharmacy. They tried to fulfill a different prescription in lieu of the one my doctor called in without even letting me know they made the switch. Also, multiple times they shorted me the number of pills I was supposed to receive. Took zero accountability for their mistake and refused to fix it. Very rude. Avoid at all costs. read more

CVS Pharmacy is my go to place for all of my health care needs. This is where I go to to fill my prescriptions. CVS Pharmacy is very fast in filling my prescriptions. I just wish that there was a way that they could alert me when my prescriptions are ready. I go here for my annual flu and other vaccines. I find there scheduling tool on their website easy to use. I have used their Minute Clinic and this is run well. When I was there I was greeted and the appointment began on time. The nurse was professional and respectful. Everything for sale in the store part is horrendously overpriced and I avoid it. CVS Pharmacy is a great choice to take care of all of your health care needs. read more

Just wow. I hope a regional general manager or corporate cares enough to read this and take action. Wife is sick so we decided to get a Covid test. Made appointment through the CVS site. Drove up to window, gave appointment info and passcode to lady. Took almost 10 minutes to bring kit to window. Asked my wife if she knew how to administer which she replied "been long time so no". To which the lady left the window never to return. After 8 minutes elapsed my wife pressed the call button. A gentleman comes to the drive up window and asks how he can help. She requested guidance on how to administer the covid test. OMG...I can't make this next part up. He tells her to take the swab and dip it into the saline solution in the tube and then proceed to swab one of her nostrils and go very high up. Dip it in the vial again, and proceed to swab the next nostril. Don't dip the swab back in the vial, just close the vial and put the swab in its original packaging and the seal the plastic bag. My wife said "are you sure?" and he said politely yes and then drop in the drop box. She came home and told me the odd procedure and stated it seemed wrong. Which it most definitely is!! I called the pharmacy. Waited 10 minutes on hold, came off hold and hung up on me. Ugh!!! Called again, waited 6 minutes and they answered. Talked to the Pharmacist. Explained the aforementioned and I explained there is no way that is the approved procedure on the CVS site or Covid sites - which she agreed. Apologized. To which I asked to drive my wife back and retake the test. I asked two times for her name - "I'm the pharmacist", the third time I said "and the pharmacists name is...?" then she gave it to me. Drove back around got there at 12:10pm. Took awhile for them to get a new test kit (even though we called we'd be right over), pharmacist then directed associate what to do. Gave us a new kit, associate said she'd stay with us until test administered but then walked away. Since I was with my wife and saw a video of someone doing their own Covid test through CVS, I directed my wife how to do it properly. Then a different associate returned to the window to put up a sign that said out to lunch for 30 minutes - even though there was a car patiently waiting behind us for 20 minutes (it's now 12:30pm). She advised us to drop in the box and have a nice day. 1. Covid testing is important and your site says you will help guide the customer through it. Twice you failed. Twice! Within 2 hours!! 2. Do you train your employees? Dip it in the saline solution first? Don't put it in the vial when done? Associate who advised wife was polite but wtf are you guys doing not training him? 3. The wait on the phone and in person is ridiculous. There was at least 5 people working in that pharmacy I could see through window. Ever heard of Henry Ford? Assembly line - one person man the phones, one man the window, etc. 4. Customer service is why you're in business. I still am floored they put the sign up out to lunch when the car behind us was sitting there for 20 minutes clearly in line before lunch break (for 5 people!). I would be pissed. 5. If my company insurance wasn't through CVS, I would go exclusively to Walgreens after this. 6. Does anyone read these reviews? I was shocked to come on here and read my peers similar reviews on the poor customer service. Fix your business or you'll lose your business. read more

I ONLY go here because I am forced to by my insurance company. The store itself isn't bad. The Pharmacy is a disaster. Despite the best efforts of the staff, the place is ALWAYS short staffed. Their computer system is woefully inadequate compared to the competitors. There is currently no way to pick up scripts for your family except to check them ONE PERSON AT A TIME and giving birth-date for each one. In today's computerized age, this is BEYOND stupid. Another thing is RX stock. It is not unusual at all to have the out of stock on basic medicines. Being out of insulin and or diabetic supplies is borderline criminal. This CVS is big, clean and well stocked. If you have an Xtra care card, you can earn rewards to use towards next purchase. The pharmacy staff is phenomenal. My prescriptions are always ready ahead of schedule. If I ever run into any issues the technicians and pharmacists are always very helpful. The management is great.They will always treat you as a person, and not just as a patient to get in and out of the room as soon as possible. Always have quick service here, but today the pharmacist that helped me went out of her way to check for a generic brand for me so I didn't have to pay $100 for a prescription that is usually covered by insurance. The extra care here is noticed and appreciated. I also like their huge selection of vitamins, different kind for all family. It's funny seeing all these negative comments ! It's a CVS! Has a pharmacy and a drive thru. Cashiers are annoying but it's CVS not Chic-fil-a! Save location. Never crowded. Covid friendly! I have never used CVS before this year when my insurance changed and that was the only pharmacy that they allowed for me to get my medication that I have been on for years. My doctor sent both prescriptions and after a week of nothing I called in to CVS they claimed that they never got my prescriptions and then when I went back and contacted my doctor she had proof that she sent them both in to the correct CVS pharmacy but yet CVS had no proof of them, so clearly they are completely unorganized and I had to wait over a week to get my prescription refilled which is very unhealthy for me to go that long. I will not want to use CVS in the future because I don't trust them to have my medication filled! read more

Another wasted trip... It is becoming obvious that CVS is unable to keep in stock even the most common over the counter items, where stock status on their web site is totally inaccurate. In short after multiple failed attempts looking up on the CVS web site if a product is in stock at a location, going there and finding an empty shelf, why bother wasting time and gas in the future? It's not like there are no alternatives in the local area (e.g. Walgreens or Osco Drug come to mind). read more

Use Walgreens In Wheeling or Buffalo Grove Illinois... Not CVS in Buffalo Grove. As of April 4, Medicare announced they will cover boxes of at home Covid tests. I called the CVS at Dundee and Buffalo Grove Road in Buffalo Grove Illinois and asked if they had any in stock, which they did. I went in yesterday and asked the cashier to process it through Medicare. He told me that couldn't be done. And that I had to take the receipts after paying $25 and submit them myself. That was wrong information. When I couldn't do it, I went back to the store today. The pharmacist there told me she could have done it but since I already bought it she couldn't. The store supervisor then said after looking at my insurance cards that I didn't qualify for free at home tests and that he couldn't give me a refund, even though it was his employee that gave me the wrong information. I just went to Walgreens, in Dundee, in Wherling, IL, who processed without issue 4 at home Covid tests through my insurance for me. read more

Since my healthcare provider switched to CVS as the preferred prescription provider, I've been going here instead of Walgreen's. Would have preferred to stay at Walgreen's. Thus far, my experience at this store has been OK. Seems like you can always expect to wait at the pharmacy whether you're the only person in line or one of many. The pharmacists always seem to be short on staff. Generally, the store appears pretty cluttered to me - I usually avoid shopping for other items here. Generally, not impressed. read more

This is my go-to CVS. The service is great, the cashiers are always exceptionally nice, the store is always very cleaned and stocked well. The selection of beauty and healthcare products is good, especially I like the fact that they now carry Essie nail polish and that I do not have to drive out to ULTA for that. I dropped a star from my rating because I called the pharmacy here a few days ago and I needed to fill a prescription urgently but the woman on the line was a total witch (sorry for a the lack of a better word). I called 10 minutes before they were closing, while I was driving to the store, and she made it painfully obvious that she did not care to fill my prescription because she was about to close. She feared that I was not going to arrive to the store at exactly 6pm closing time so she said she is not going to take care of the prescription today... I did indeed end up making it to the store before she was supposed to lock the pharmacy... I am usually understanding of semi bad service, but the way she was talking to be was just rude.. I ended up having to drive out to Walgreens where I got my prescription filled within minutes! Sorry but you just lost a pharmacy customer. read more

Let's preface this review by mentioning, per my insurance I am required to use a CVS pharmacy, and if I didn't have to use them, I would never use them again. I can't count the number of times they've "lost" my insurance, tried to give me someone else's medication, have completely forgotten to fill my prescription, not used my insurance to fill a prescription, or any number of different issues. It's been over 5 minutes and now I've been told it would take another 5 minutes. Meanwhile the pharmacist is just standing at a computer. What I love most about this cvs location is that it's conveniently open 24/7. They have a very large pharmacy. And very friendly staff.

I've only been here a handful of times to pick up a few odds and ends and a few prescriptions. Everyone at the pharmacy was helpful with any questions I had and they are quick on service. I especially like that they except Google Wallet as a form of payment. If you don't know what that is, it's basically a speedpass in your phone that you hold up to the credit machine and it takes your payment. AWESOME! read more

Will never return to this pharmacy. This pharmacy years ago was much better. Some techs and pharmacists are rude, arrogant and lazy. I am sure they are happy being this way. Poor customer service! I had to wait an hour for my antibiotic and pain killer after dental surgery. By the time I got home my anesthesia had worn off--ouch. The store itself is alright. The cashiers seem friendly enough. But the pharmacy has given me a lot of problems. Whats the worst is that the pharmacy staff act completely non-chalant about issues that arise. No sorry, no apologies, nothing. Clearly inconsiderate and at times downright lazy. Infact I have never heard them use an apology. I've been treated like a child, shown a shrug when I pointed out an issue, and heard them spout states laws and regulations with no apologies in between or even an ounce of empathy. I get it. Giving this pharmacy one star because of poor customer service. They sent me an automated text message stating my RX was filled and ready to pick up, which I did not order. Called during morning hours on a Friday to straighten this out and was kept on hold for 30 minutes before I hung up and called back to speak with the store manager. He told me they had 7 other customers also on hold and took my info for someone to call me back; I'm switching my CVS pharmacy to Long Grove, closer and much better! read more

this place is actually ok. the people at the pharmacy are nice. also, the bathroom is by the pharmacy, it looked like you have to have a code to get in, but you can just let yourself in. some good items on sale, the checkout people up front is also pretty legit. overall, a good store. the parking lot is also not super sketchy like a lot of pharmacy stores. read more

I was discharged from the hospital after an emergency surgery and came here to pick up my medication. The hospital called my scripts in over a hour before I arrived, so I wouldn't have to wait. I get here and they say that it's going to be another 20 minutes and asked us to pull forward (and park in the baking sun) because we "aren't allowed to sit on the sensor for that long" there was no one behind us... basically they don't want to be in trouble with corporate for not serving customers in a timely manner. I will not be purchasing anything CVS in the future, not a bottle of water and definitely not medication. The last 5 times we have had problems with the perscriptions we brought in. On one they did not give us the right amout of pills. On another when I went to pick up they said they do not carry the item and that was after I brought it in and they said would be redy in an hour had to go to palatine store to get. On another one they said the insurance did not cover the item. Found out that it had to be oked first then they would pay. Pharmacy was suppose to call doctor and tell them it had to be oked by insurance co. They never made the call. According to corporate they should have called. I guess they were just lazy. The last one they said they could not read the perscription from the doctor. I called and to get the name of cream and gave phone to cashier and adriana said she could use my phone to get name of cream. Where do they get these people incompetent people. read more
