This review is only for the pharmacy portion. I am so glad that I am moving and I will no longer have to get my meds here. They are rude. I have been so appalled at times that I have called the complaint line and complained. I have never heard anything back, so have no clue if my complaints actually did anything. I was on automatic refill, which is this great program that you can sign up where your meds are refilled and a call is placed to you when they're ready to pick up. They're supposed to hold you meds for 2 weeks. I got a call saying my script was ready and 5 days later went to pick it up. I was rudely told that my drugs weren't there because I didn't come get them when I was called. I was then made to wait 20 minutes and then told that they didn't normally carry my prescription, so that it would be another 2 days before they would have it. The worst service I witnessed was not done to me, but to a lady in front of me. I was standing in line waiting for my pick up. I was standing pretty far back to be polite. Getting meds can be personal, so I like to give people space. Even with that, I was able to hear the entire situation. This woman was out of town and was trying to pick up some meds she needed. She did not have insurance and was paying for them out of pocket. When they gave her the total she politely said that there must be some mistake, that they were priced different in the state that she was from. This difference was double, not just a couple of dollars. The clerk told her that was the price here and if she didn't want to pay it she was welcome to go elsewhere. She tried to reason with him. She asked him if this was the generic kind, etc. His tone was obnoxious and he kept trying to blow her off. Eventually a different clerk came to help and realized that the prescription was for 60 days and the woman had only want a 30 day bottle. The other clerk never even asked. And he never apologized. He wrung the woman up. When she left he proceeded to say nasty things about her to the other clerk in front of me. It was awful. I cannot believe anyone could be treated that way. I am so glad to be moving and taking my business elsewhere. read more

Why is this going on my best of Ravenswood list? Becaus this is the only drug store within walking distance that willingly takes credit cards. Notes: 1. They (pretty much) never have CTA passes. They've only had them about 1/10 times that I ask; I've just stopped asking. 2. Their revolving door never works. There's no sign, so take this as your warning. 3. There are no grocery stores within walking distance, so this CVS often has to substitute as a grocery store. Be warned: the food shelves are pretty much always, at least, half empty. 4. There is no self-check out. 5. Food is expensive here! More than $3 for a can of soup! 6. Hey, at least the employees are nice! read more

I like the underground parking, pharmacy and the coupons. One thing that is great about CVS they give you general coupons and 20-30% off coupons to apply to the brands you use and that is helpful. It's clean, not a huge amount of stock and a smaller store than others but convenient and I do go here. read more

I have been using this CVS for 2 years because it's the closest one to my house, and that is the only reason. I dread having to call the pharmacy. Without fail, I will be placed on hold. And typically this hold lasts for at least 15 minutes. My prescriptions are never ready on time. I place my orders days in advance, show up after receiving confirmation that it's been filled, and then I still have to wait. Often when I arrive no one is at the counter, and when the pharmacist finally comes to the counter they act like you're inconveniencing them. I miss my CVS pharmacy in the suburbs - where the pharmacists were actual adults with knowledge. I'm thinking of moving my prescriptions to the CVS by my work instead, because I'm pretty sure the pharmacy team at this CVS is going to give me a pulmonary embolism. FYI - I wrote this while on hold with the pharmacy for over 10 minutes. A female pharmacist put me on hold. After 10 minutes of waiting I hung up. Immediately called back. Got a male pharmacist who was very professional and helped me right away. Maybe he fired her while I was on hold. read more

I don't normally write reviews for CVS...that being said: The current pharmacists at this location are just rude. The former staff was really nice and always helpful-- not sure when these guys started. Every time I go to pick up my birth control prescription, something is wrong. AND they treat me like I"m a pain in the ass everytime I'm there. How hard can it be to grab a pack of birth control pills and throw it in a bag? This time my insurance information was down, and, as always, there is "nothing they can do." I think they are just lazy. Even if there isn't anything they can do, maybe a better attitude would be nice. I'll be taking my business elsewhere, this shoudn't be difficult. read more

This place is tiny, has dirty, smelly carpeting, and is often out of stock of a lot of items. The employees are wonderful, though, and try to do the best they can. read more

Never really shopped at CVS until i had to get my prescription for the flu. But i like this store nice,clean and organized.

This is my favorite store with a pharmacy. Walgreens and Target are closer but I prefer to drive a bit further to this N Damen CVS. What I like. Frequent sales with good prices, they carry sugarless value pack cough drops, staff is helpful. Pharmacist answers questions intelligently and techs don't mind helping me find items. They've helped be choose a thermometer and a BP cuff for my mom. I often get immediate Bonus buck slips to buy more items, free. Of all pharmacy stores they have the best rewards program with these Bonus slips which is good to purchase anything up to that bonus value. CVS also has a new program to help smokers stop and are very health improvement oriented compared to others. So most innovative, in line with the kind of company they are supposed to be. read more

There is nothing like having an ill child and arriving at the pharmacy to find the highly educated pharmacist unwilling to help you out. Thomas S. is in my opinion one the most rude people I have ever met in my life. I don't feel bad for you that you have night shift at CVS pal. I sat and waited for the prescription to be phoned in. I was sitting in a chair in the waiting area when he closed the metal screen on me! Not to mention closing it for a person waiting in the drive through who came frantically running into the store. I get it dude, you had higher hopes and dreams than moonlighting at CVS but people come to you because they have a need. No one is usually happy coming to a pharmacy. There are 1000 other pharmacies in Chicago and I can guarantee that CVS has seen the last dollar ever from me. Some simple customer service would go a long way. I loathe having to write this type of review but it was warranted, I've never felt so small in my life. read more

If you want a headache stop on in this blackhole of customer service. Where to begin...well don't be fooled by the revolving door, it NEVER works. I learned this the hard way after trying it time and time again, because they never put so much as a sign up to inform you it is out of order. i guess they are too busy not waiting on customers inside. there are at least 6 cashier stations but i've never seen more than 2 open at a time. the photo department - i ordered photos online to pick up here once and i waited and waited and eventually, after i kept asking, they told me that the pictures were sent to the wrong store and then lost. The pharmacy is good though. you'll need the drugs to cope with shopping here. read more

every time I come to this location the staff is great, friemdly, and social.... I manage a restaurant and great customer service is prime in my life, and they nail it on the head. That being said, there is are two people there that really stand out to me. there is an African American gentleman with dreadlocks and an anti - eyebrow micro dermal piercing that has been exceptionally kind and has a way of talking that is kind and comforting. The other is an African American woman who is a little shorter and I will remember her well when I walked in the store and she said "boy your hair is everything" on the 4th of july. she conversation with clientele as if she is a friend. Shopping at places like cvs or walgreens you don't get a lot of super friendly workers, but their confidence and kind nature make this the location of choice, and this isn't even the closest or most convenient location for me. This store has always, since opening, been a constant source of frustration. Our neighborhood, Winnemac Park, deserves better than this lousy excuse for a convenience store. This place is an in-convenience store! I've continued to go in over the years because it's close to home. But I've finally had enough and have vowed to walk the extra steps to the multiple independent marts and corner stores near enough , just slightly further. Enough is enough. This store is constantly out of items. But I've noticed its the items that they have a store brand version of that they chronically run out of. They won't run out of Cheese-its because there's no CVS version of Cheese-its to force one to buy. However if you are into any name brand paper towel, toilet paper, hand lotion etc. etc. that's competing with the CVS store brand don't even waste your time. Just go to Chui's or Tony's or any other store in the area. CVS is most likely out of your choice. tonight I went in around 10:30 to buy a few small items. As is typical there was some problem with the check out. This is typical. There's usually a line of about four to eight people. tonight it was just one person and me and that was too much for this Mickey Mouse operation. I was asked how I wanted to pay, because apparently they didn't have drawers with cash; They were only accepting plastic forms of payment. I've never heard of such a thing. Undoubtedly it's some dumb-ass corporate policy of theirs, much like chronically under ordering any brands that compete with their store brands. When I dropped my items and made my way to the door I told the two employees that were incapable of helping me check out that their store Sucks! They responded they didn't have a drawer with cash, as if that invalidates my observation, That Their Store Sucks! That's Why Their Store Sucks! I don't care WHY I can't simply, conveniently and quickly pay for a few incidentals and be on my way. It's the fact that I can't (often) here that leads me to observe: YOUR STORE SUCKS! I went to Diala Market at Winchester and Foster and had no problem selecting a few items, paying and being on my way. This is only an accounting of the final straw for me. Over the years there have been oh so many affronts and stupid things about this nightmare of a store: the always locked revolving door that the brain-dead employees never thought to put an "out of order" sign on, leaving customers to push at the locked front door - ALWAYS, like fools! I could go on and on. But I'll conclude by warning you, just avoid this store read more

this is a good cvs. and it is a pretty big store. i was looking for some cheep whiskey or run and they have both i was going to mix it so i did not want expensive stuff. they are open 24 hours and that is good. there is nothing that stands out for other cvs stores. i would not go out of the way to go here. read more
