This place is great. The pharmacists are friendly and 90% of the time, there's no line. People moved their scripts near home during covid and they stand in 20 minute lines when they should go to a pharmacy near their office. read more

WORST PHARMACY EVER!!!!! If you don't have to use this pharmacy (or any CVS pharmacy) DON't!!!! I tried to refill a cholesterol drug online only to find Icouldn't because the "pharmacist" determined I don't need it until 11/1. In the mean time, they've determined I need to refill my occasionally needed allergy meds. At this point, my occasionally needed allergy meds are good for the next five years. We ended up here 3 times in the span of as many days. Ironically it would be the one on the way to something or another and therefore the Drugstore of choice. Its downtown so its not necessarily the snazziest of places but who cares if they have what you need. What they DIDN'T have was a bathroom for a paying customer. That paying customer being my teenage daughter. That wasn't cool. Its OK. The service at the cashiers was always very friendly and helpful. (We had asked the dude stocking in the aisle for the bathroom, he was more of the 'dead behind the eyes' group). read more

Not particularly friendly and they never have enough people working to keep lines from being less than five people deep (are all CVS's that way?) but they have adult beverages and that is more than I can say for a few others which may be more convenient and of better size - I'm looking at you, CVS at State and Congress. I lost my CVS card and was informed that they can't pull them up by cell phone number - who in the sam hill has a land line anymore? This is just your basic drugstore chain. Nothing spectacular. Except they do sell booze here. That won them an extra star. But the other three stars are for Waneesha and her trusty sidekick, who made my day...no, make that week...when I was in there a few months ago picking up cat food. It went as follows: sidekick, two aisles over, NOT using her inside voice- "Waneesha, you need any mo' Lee Press Ons?" (pause) WANEESHA?" Waneesha, on the other end of aisle- "Naw, I'm straight. This one's connected as to the base of a larger building so you can be confused walking into the buildings main entrance, even though they have their own. They also have a second story which is unusual if you hail from California. A bit crowded and not too well organized but self check out is a savior. read more

I hate this CVS. There, I said it. I could write a whole essay on why I don't like this particular location, but I won't. Here's the gist: The cashiers are slow. The lines are long. "personal" stuff (youknowwhatImean?) is locked in a cabinet. The store is laid out weird. Overall, all the staff with whom I spoke had a screw up their butt (aka rude). While I usually eschew CVS stores in favor of the cleaner, more pleasant, less cluster-fucky Walgreens, I LOATHE this particular CVS. The lines have always been LONG, and none of the cashiers I've ever seen have seemed the least bit concerned about it. I have no idea how being behind 4 people who each have about 2-3 small items ends up taking on average 10 minutes to buy my own stuff and get out of there, but in this nebulous, black hole of a drugstore, this is de rigeur. The aisles aren't lined up with the registers, so everyone kind of smooshes in the front of the store. I'm telling you, if you walked in and immediately stood in line for the sole purpose of purchasing a pack of gum from directly in front of the register, you would be in the store for about 10 minutes. I also had an issue with my CTA card awhile back and needed to use an RTA voucher to purchase transit cards. Not only did the first cashier insist they didn't take the vouchers (after I'd called the RTA, who said CVS accepts them and also after I'd spoken to the CVS manager who had said yes, of course), but the second cashier a week later insisted that any difference between the value of the transit card I chose and the value of the voucher had to be cash - patently false! Or maybe it was the third time when I waited in line for 15 minutes, only to be told they were all out of transit cards? NEXT! read more

Not a lot to be said about a downtown CVS. It's easy access being only a few blocks over from Michigan Avenue and Grant Park. Pretty much you can guess that: -Prices will be cheap. -About 50% of the people in the line have alcohol. -Lines will be slow. -Cashiers will stare at you with the gaze of someone who's spirit was crushed decades ago. -The place won't quite be dirty, but somewhat less than clean. This CVS is across the Street from the Palmer House Hotel. On the plus side, it has good things like postcards, hard liquor, and USB drives that are shaped like fishies. On the minus side, those USB drives that are shaped like fishies are like $15 a pop for 4 GB, and they close at 9. So generally inconvenient. read more

Historically, I've always picked up my personal prescriptions from Walgreens. But I work close to a CVS so I decided to use them for my dog's prescription. Yes, my dog takes prescription allergy medication prescribed by his veterinarian! I had been getting the prescription filled at the CVS on State and Congress for over a year. I've also had it filled at the CVS on Washington and Wells. Since the prescription is for my dog I pay out of pocket for it. The entire year since I've been buying the prescription for my dog I've been paying full price for it. Recently, my vet changed the prescription from 60 (monthly) pills to 100 pills. The first time I filled the revised prescription I did so at the Washington and Wells location. It cost me $40. Last week I had the prescription filled at this location (Adams and Wabash). I dropped it off and just told the young lady who waited on me that I'd be paying out of pocket. She said she'd look to see if they had any discounts that could be applied to my order. I didn't really think anything of that and left. They didn't have the prescription in stock so I had to wait 24 hours. This was never the case at the other pharmacy locations I visited. When I picked up the prescription Julie (pharmacist) rang me out. She said the prescription cost would be $16.49. I was confused and asked her why it wasn't $40 dollars since that's what I had paid at the other location. She told me she'd applied a discount to my order thus making it cheaper. I was shocked. I'd had the prescription filled for a year and was NEVER offered a discount at the other CVS pharmacy locations. I mentioned this to Julie and she chuckled saying that they (her pharmacy) was better. She meant it in jest but from my POV it was 100% accurate. I'd been paying $40 but could have paid a fraction of that and all an employee had to do was apply a discount? Julie said that she doesn't always apply discounts if it's really busy but she tries to do so whenever possible. Plus she said she knew the medication was for my pet and that I'd be paying for it out of pocket. As the owner of a sick pet herself she emphasized with my situation. I can't tell you how much I appreciated Julie going above and beyond to provide me with the best possible service. Saving me $23.50 a month adds up to almost $300 over the course of a year. That's HUGE! I will be going to this location from now on to fill my dog's prescription. Julie was not only helpful but she was pleasant and really friendly. It was nice to encounter someone who seemed to be genuinely happy to provide service with a smile. read more

it actually should get negative stars! I entered the store and began to purchase my items when I noticed that the female sales clerk weas eating hot fritos while she was tending to the customers!!! she never greeted them nor did she say a word while she rang up their purchases. I asked where she was from and she snapped "I am from HERE!" I responded that it was not polite to eat fritos while she tended to customers. She completed my transaction and threw my change upon the counter. I demanded a refund. when the manager arrived, although her opened bag of fritos was next to her register and I had explained to the store manager what was happening, he told me to calm down and said nothing as I collected my money and exited the store. THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. IT IS A DAMN SHAME THAT CVS EMPLOYS USELESS TRASH LIKE THIS! read more

So there was a really good sale on diapers going on a couple weeks ago at CVS. I happen to work in the area, so I thought it might be a good idea to try to grab some diapers while on my lunch break. I walk in, the place is a mess (not surprising)...I go over to their baby section and don't see the big boxes of diapers that are on sale in the ad. I walk back to the front of the store to grab a flier (there was only one left!), and I walk back to the baby section again to see if the diapers were in a different spot. I start searching the store, and venture into the aisle next to the baby aisle. It's filled with booze. It's like a liquor store, I swear. I go to a woman in a CVS getup and the conversation went something like this... "Do you have the Pampers that are listed in the ad this week?" "No, miss, we don't have those" "But they are listed in the ad, you should have them" "I'm sorry but we don't have those" "But you have a bunch of booze and no diapers that are LISTED IN THE AD?!!!!" Never ever going to cvs at state & adams ever again.....would rather go to the overpriced walgreens down the street or wait to get into my area where they stock what they say in the ad, don't cater to homeless people with an abundance of booze, and are nice to their customers. read more

Came in here looking for a slap chop, which another cvs had looked up in inventory, and said was at this location. These poor people couldn't spell "slap", and had no idea how to use their system for their own store. After resisting the failed efforts of one clerk. I got someone to let me use the system. Keep in mind that I don't work there and I found it successfully in the system. When we finally got to the right screen, the employees had no idea what the abbreviations on the screen meant. read more

I'm reviewing only the photography department. A year ago I picked up prints there and was amazed at the high quality, but that may have been the film I was using, or the light. Motivated by this experience I went back recently and dropped off film; the results are OK, generally not thrilling, but again, that may have been the film or the ambient lighting. What I'm happy about is that someone decided that one of my shots of West 18th Street at dusk seen through the front window of a moving school bus needed to be printed on 4 by 11 (or some such long and narrow) paper to really work. And it's actually pretty awesome that way. It just showed up in my envelope when I went to pick up a standard set of prints. I like it when the tech staff stick their noses into the artistic process (or whatever I thought I was doing in that school bus) and improve the result. [ BTW I was not driving the bus; I was hitching a ride with the friendly Latino Express at the ever-asskicking west Pilsen annual open studios, which really should be held more than once a year since it's fantastic.] As for the rest of the store, I haven't noticed anything to call down the wrath of the customer base here. read more

This has got to be the worst CVS in the city. It's dingy, the staff is not very friendly and there is always a long line to pay as they mostly have self checkout lanes (which barely work). It doesn't help that there's usually only ONE actual person behind the register. Nightmarish! read more

Went to check in at the minute clinic. I politely asked to use the restroom and the PHARMACY TECH told me no. I said even as a patient and he said he'll call the manager. Manager never came. How rude as a patient you're telling me I can't use the washroom. I will never come here again. read more

The place is small and dingy, but what do you expect for a downtown location? The minute clinic is staffed by friendly, competent nurses. I was a bit miffed that they didn't have the tetanus vaccine I wanted in stock, however, and they never seemed to get any more in. This location has a good selection of wine, beer, spirits, and mixers, however. There are a lot of beggars outside the store, but again that's to be expected with a downtown location. read more

I don't generally complain about these sorts of things, but today I'm compelled. First off, Daniela at the pharmacy is awesome. However, the other doctor there at the Minute Clinic today was not. I sat there for an hour, seeking nothing more than something to alleviate the remaining respiratory symptoms I'm experiencing as a result of a cold on top of my asthma. It's nothing life-threatening or anything, but I wanted to make sure it didn't get worse. After sitting there, getting checked in, going through the verification that my visit would, in fact, be billed to my insurance, I was told that they couldn't help me with anything respiratory, and that I'd have to go to ANOTHER urgent care facility for that. Since I went on my lunch break, I couldn't do this. She all but ushered me out when I asked for anything that might help the symptoms, even if it was non-steroid-based, but she just handed me the addresses of other clinics in the Loop. The worst care (if you can even call it that) that I've ever received at CVS, and I will never go back. I should have just gone to the ER - at least there, you're taken seriously. read more

WOW. Just...wow. The staff here is just ridiculous. They stand at the registers but aren't taking customers, gave me a soft pack of cigarettes saying it was all they had after I told them I could see the hard packs sitting behind the soft and aren't even aware that you can purchase a cta pass with a credit card at their location. I don't have any prescriptions, but they certainly wouldn't be filled here if I did; the stupid is too contagious. read more

In general, I HATE CVS and only go there for prescriptions because my insurance requires it. Today, I filled a prescription at the State St store and the pharmacist, Daniela, was my hero. After visits to three other CVS stores where they all gave me the run-around, Daniela was patient with me and followed every thread thru the insurance jungle until she had a resolution. I would give this no stars if I could. For the location, the atmosphere and folks who ventured in was frightening. If I hadn't forgotten toiletries for my trip, I would not have gone to CVS at all. The store was a block or two from my hotel, it was late, and I didn't want to look for another store. This CVS looked worse than a bad thrift store. The floors were very dirty, staff was flitting here and there, but no one ventured to mop/clean the filthy floors, and even the folks who walked in were rude. The service wasn't the best, either. If I could, I wouldn't give this store a star at all cause it doesn't deserve one. The employees were very rude. One time that I went there, I was developing photos. The staff had things piled in that area which gave me very little room. 2 employees kept having me move cause they were going in & out of that area. I told the lady it didn't print the size photo I wanted. She took the photos from my hand & put them on the counter & said real rudely "you don't have to get these." Then she said they didn't have the size photo paper I wanted & they should've had that posted instead of me paying for the size I didn't want.
