I have to give this neutral stars. In using this for my pharmacy it has its pros and cons. The male pharmacist is incredibly nice, patient, and helpful. Feel like he acknowledges a regular customer and provides excellent service. The female pharmacist on the other hand is so unfriendly and I feel uncomfortable anytime I have to interact with her due to her cold demeanor and lack of willingness to connect to regular customers. I continue due to my appreciation for one pharmacist and hope I pick up on his working days! The front desk staff are usually pretty disengaged in general which is fine if you don't need anything. The CVS app for extracare is and ongoing frustration of trying to use coupons. I do appreciate they have coupons when they work however and their shipping to home online option is nice when use it. read more

Photo staff is incompetent, I placed a simple order and they argued with me over it being done and were extremely rude.

My FAV CVS. One of the things that "work" in my life. Not sure why a low rating. I am there about every two weeks. I do have the app/Savings membership that is worth the monthly cost because you get $10 for anything once a month. Believe me when I say I have no connection to this store. I realize I sound like an ad. Anyway here are the reasons: AMAZING pharmacy staff - forgive me I may have the wrong name - Pharmacist Abdul is especially excellent and let's me know he has checked for online coupons. KAREN who is a floor/register associate. She understands the minute details of the coupons and I could hear her talking to other customers and she was so reassuring. Sorta Momma/Sherpa. I should add there was another floor associate (male) who was very patient with my requests to open different locked down products. Helped me find something. GREETING CARDS good selection and I like to catch the Hallmark savings that are posted in app. COSMETICS: other than the fact that they rarely have the gray L' Oreal fiber sorta thin marker eyeliner, there collection of many brands is good. POST HOLIDAY MARKDOWNS: I go in and stalk those aisles for up to 70% off on items for the next Halloween, Summer, Xmas small gits for kids. FOOD: decent amount of "grab" items if you are hungry. Some to the beverages seem pricey but the only time I look at those brands is when I'm there. Other items (cereal) can be high but when they are on sale, it's impressive. OK - That's it. This is the worst CVS Pharmacy. They never answer the phone. They have you sit on hold for 40 minutes before they actually pick up the phone. The female pharmacist (don't know her name, the Asian woman) is nasty and obviously hates her job. Do better. Hire more people and figure out how to have a better environment so your customers are taken care of. I will no longer take my business here EVER again. read more

I'm confused by the abysmally low reviews. I had a good experience here - nothing out of the ordinary, but very good. The store is pretty up-to-date/new/shiny. They should have more people at the registers, since the self-checkouts are sometimes kind of bad at being able to scan bar codes and register a light item as actually being in the bag. read more

I hate this place! I love my own CVS. But sometimes I can't get there in time and have to go to this hellhole. There is a nice guy who works here but twice now I've had to deal with a snatchy pharmacist named Maria, I think. And each time she misinterprets my script (its been the same for 7 years)and acts like a condescending little witch. And irritates me beyond belief with her inappropriately snotty reminders that "it is a controlled substance". Yeah, that's why my Harvard educated DOCTOR writes me a prescription that you seem to take liberties with. Thinking about using the washroom here? Well, don't even think about it, not for a second. No soap, no hand drier, no paper towels. Only rolls of toilet paper for drying wet hands! And then there are the toilets. They're dirty, and filled with... FILTH. I almost vomited, but that would've required getting near the toilet. I understand that it's not CVS' fault that their patrons don't know how to flush, but no one should have to see what I did. And on the walls, too? How about checking your restroom facilities regularly? So scandalous. Blech. read more

So I'm on my meal break at work and think "I'll pop over and get my passport photo so I don't have to waste time on my day off." Bad idea. For about 5 minutes I wandered around the store looking for someone else working here besides the lone cashier with 6 people in her line. No luck. So I start to hover near the photo counter looking for a bell or buzzer or life form. Nope. Finally I surrender to wait in the check out line to ask. The girl calls for someone to rise from the bowels of the store and the process continues at the photo counter. She tells me right off the bat that they have had problems with their camera. We proceed to take a photo which looks pretty good to me and she starts to edit it in their self-serve machine to get it centered and cropped. The program looks like it centers it right on spot first try but she fiddles with it for 10 minutes, completely ignoring my suggestion of leaving it the way it was. Fiddle for 5 more minutes and finally I give up. I very nicely said "I appreciate your effort but I'll just go somewhere else. Thank you." And she screams "God, I hate it when everybody says that!" Well, perhaps if you got equipment that works or just listened to the customer about the photos being fine to begin with, it wouldn't happen. Oh, and the the woman overseeing the self checkout gave me shit for using a debit card for a $1.08 purchase. read more

Sometimes I hate to be a hater, but for this place I have good reason. I am speaking strictly for the pharmacy, not the rest of the store. I've been going to this location for years because of its location, parking lot, and the fact that its open 24 hours. Wherever I move to, it seems I always end up having to go back to this CVS. In the recent past, I've been dealing with a bunch of medications, and had to see the folks here WAY too much. Most of the time, there is a woman working there who is brash, rude, loud, and impolite. She has yelled my personal info across the store many times. There are a couple of other employees who have misread labels, and put my insurance info in wrong- which caused me many headaches and hours on the phone. They never apologize, and act inconvenienced if you have a question about your meds. I gave them an extra star because the homeless guy out front selling streetwise is pretty funny. read more

WORST PHARMACIST EVER! And in my opinion, unethical - when you promise a patient that the drug will be ready the next day, it should be ready the next day, not two more days later. I dropped off my prescription for a cream yesterday afternoon after my doctor's visit. The pharmacist, whom I believe was the pharmarcy manager, told me it won't be ready until the next day after 8am. I went back this morning to pick up my prescription. And they told me they are missing one of the components needed to make my precription and I have to wait for two more days! Do these pharmacists understand that untreated medical condition may worsen? Don't they check if they have all the components in stock before promising me it will be ready the next day? I am in such agonizing pain that I cannot wait for two more days. I took my prescription somewhere else. read more

I have been going to this CVS since I moved to Chicago 5 months ago. I am always so impressed every visit. The managers, workers, and pharmacists are super kind, patient, honest, and hard-working. They go above and beyond to help you. It is by far the very best CVS I have ever been to! read more

Not hard to believe this place has a bunch of bad reviews already. Spent 30 minutes trying to check out over a snafu with my CVS card. Thomas Stretzel the manager was called and he proved to be worthless and rude. So did the cashier Laxsmi. Best to avoid this store if possible. They lost my business over a $2 misunderstanding. I can only review the store as I have not used the Pharmacy here. The store is great, the inventory is pretty good, but you must absolutely get an Extra Care Card. You get *free money* for shopping at CVS. It's great! Customer Service is great here, too. They always do great things with my coupons to ensure I am getting the great deal. No where else are the cashiers as good about making sure the customer is happy and gets the best deal. read more

Normally I don't like visiting any pharmacies if there is no need and I am pretty sure it could relate to anyone but sometimes it can be very useful because of a bunch of options this store can offer. Recently I had my friend birthday and I was a bit struggling with a picking up a gift for him. When it comes to that I always feel a lack of creativeness and my best decision is just to give some money as a present and of course I use post cards as well to congratulate my close friends and family members on any occasion. What I like most about this store is a great options of post cards for any occasion. Great customer service. The staff is attentive and responsive to your needs, always ready to help you choose the items you need. I was in the area and decided to hit the spot and was totally satisfied with the service provided. Staff was helpful and I got what I was looking for. Five stars. read more

I have always found the staff at the Sheffield location to be very accommodating. They have always worked with me on coupon issues and locating items that I'm usually standing next to. If an item isn't on the shelf, they will check in back. Shop here, use the pharmacy - this is one of my favorite CVS go to stores. read more

Awful, awful, awful. The staff is practically non-existent...and the ones that are there are just plain unhelpful. Worst part--MANAGEMENT IS DOWN RIGHT HORRIBLE AND RUDE. I had asked to talk to a manager because they were out of a particular product I needed and I simply wanted to ask the manager to make sure they order more, since they have been completely out of stock for the past 3 weeks (I work near the store, so I visit often). To top it off, not only were they out of my regular brand, they were out of my backup brand and they were out of my BACKUP to my BACKUP. That's 3 different brands that they were out of. Crazy and unacceptable!! 3 different brands out of stock for OVER A MONTH. When I talked to a manager, he just simply told me "well, we changed distributors and there was a delay at the warehouse." Too bad I can't articulate the tone of his voice on the internet.....it was extremely condescending. If I concede that distribution issues are out of the control of the individual store--I would still appreciate a little bit of empathy about the situation. Is that so much to ask? I work in retail; the first thing I do when I either deal with a customer's complaint or have to delivery less than satisfactory news is EMPATHIZE. A little bit of empathy can go a long way--it makes me feel like my complaint does matter, even if there is nothing that can be done to fix the situation immediately. And when it comes to distribution issues being "outside of the individual store's control"--I'm not conceding that point in reality. Again, my experience in retail....if a distributor fails to deliver an item and they fail to deliver it for OVER A MONTH, at my store you better believe I am on the phone, sending emails demanding that the distributor hand deliver the product. I've told distributors before that "I don't care if I have to come to the warehouse and pick it up myself--if I have to do that, it better be ready for pick up by the time I get there and I better be getting a credit for delivery charges." What angers me the most is that NO OTHER CVS IS THIS OUT OF STOCK. The manager told me that ALL CVS locations had changed their distribution warehouse about 3 weeks ago....which really puzzles me as two why the other 2 CVS locations I frequent have NOT been out of stock. When I pointed this out to the manager, he told me that it was likely that the other locations just had "some extra stock." Ok, jerk...then that means that your location does a piss-poor job at ordering and maintaining stock levels....which means this location being out of 3 different brands is COMPLETELY the store's fault. Again, no empathy, not apology.....just a bunch of passing the buck and attitude. I was so pissed about how the manager had treated me that I left the other items I had gathered up at the register and left the store with NOTHING. Why should I give that location ANY money if they can't give me a simple "I'm sorry we're out of your product, we're working on it." Didn't get any empathy, didn't get a "we're working on it." Nope, instead I got a bitchy manager who seemed offended that I would even complain, who was obviously bothered by having to talk to a customer (perhaps he was bothered with having to do any work at all?), who talked down to me, and who decided to place 100% of the blame on the distribution warehouse rather than take responsibility for not following up or not properly stocking the store in the first place to avoid an outage in case of "distribution problems." read more

This place is terrible. I've been here several times and I am irritated that I made the mistake of going back today. This is one of the stores that makes you use the automated check out things as opposed to having someone check you out. Maybe it's just me, but i HATE those things. It takes 3 times longer and when you are using your CVS card for coupons (seriously, why else go there) it doesn't work. I begrudginly used it, told the lady that it won't work for what i'm doing, she said it will and oh guess what, it didn't. so she had to clear it out and have someone else who was totally rude check me out. so maybe i'm being annoying about all of this, but why waste my time when i know what does and doesn't work? read more

Unfortunately, the pharmacy here still isn't great. However, the store has been updated nicely and they have installed 4 self-checkout stations at the front. This earns them 1 additional star, due to the fact that we normal humans no longer have to wait in an egregiously long line for the alien from the planet lazy behind the main counter to ring up our toothpaste and deodorant. My total errand time in this CVS has legit been cut in half since they've installed the self checkout. That is just how bad their service was before. Still plenty of parking in an easily accessible lot, which is a godsend in January. read more

Contrary to most of the reviews here, I've had, without doubt, my best "pharamacy" experience here. The pharmacist-S (yes, this applies to multiple RPHs) are all so incredibly sweet and patient. Relative to other CVS locations (which I know to be pretty poorly managed in general as far as stocking goes), I find what I am looking here almost always, as I do frequent this location, and will continue to. Also, it's 24/7, including the pharmacy. Enough said. read more

CVS Sheffield Ave. store has the most incompetent pharmacy staff around! I am I registered licensed healthcare professional and I find the techs and pharmacists inexperienced and unprofessional. The sad little Dougie Howser pharmacist is obviously overwhelmed. The gaggle of rotating asian/Latino /other staff that never lasts longer than a few months is irritating. Put a sign on which register is open fools! Don't allow customers to approach pick up window who have not already called in or refilled orders!!!! Constant errors, calls to my physician and rudeness to customers, as well as extremely long wait times have made me and my household transfer all our business elsewhere. I'll be glad when Walgreens opens on Armitage! read more

Apparently I don't care about candy or soda... really I don't. What I do care is what a certain pharmacist did for me today. She was weary, tired, exhausted and said the last few days were utter hell. I felt for her, I told her I hoped it all got better soon for her as I turned in my prescription for Claritin D. I asked her to make sure that they had it in stock, which they did, in 10 packs instead of the two 15 packs. I was dine, I just wanted to make sure I had some for the next 30 days. When it came time to ring me up, instead of the normal just under $28, it came out to $41. She looked at it, right before I swiped my debit card, and stopped me. "This can't be right." she said, "Hold on." She finagled for about 4 or 5 minutes, and got the price down to what I normally pay. "You shouldn't have to pay that much for it." She gets the 5 stars. Also the card selection isn't that great, but the place does have plenty of candy for me if I ever choose to get any, but I won't. I am thankful that they have a wonderful pharmacist who even was worn down, still made an extra effort for customer, that will make me come back. read more

The customer service here was HORRIBLE!!! I went in there this evening to pick up a few items and for some reason they mustve thought I was going to steal!! Granted I know they have to be alert and i did stay in the store browsing for a while but I eventually got a hand cart and filled it with merchandise. (which I did pay for) The only reason I could think of is because Im black. I know it sound a little cliche but its very true. There were other people shopping but I was only African american in there other than the supervisor who was also watching me. No one offered to help me or anything. I watched them watch me. Oh they tried to be discreet but it was too obvious when they began to take turns following me though the store.I confronted a manager about my suspicions (who was only a few feet away making sure i charged every item at check out) once I was done paying who told me it wasnt true. No apology...nothing. I left the store and turned back around to go back in and caught him telling the other manager that I was on to them. I told the other manager that I would be making a complaint. He said "ok". Absolute JERKS!! This is an area thats predominantly inhabited by Caucasians so apparently in their eyes.. black people steal. I didn't look any different than the other women in the store who were bundled up (because of the freezing cold out) with other shopping bags. Only that I was black. I needed a birthday card for my cousin who is turning 8 and stopped in after shopping at Bed, Bath & Beyond. The card selection was average but I found one that was for an 8th birthday. This store is just like the others. Why I am giving them 4 stars is because starting August 6 for 6 days (or about) they will be selling school supplies and clothes tax free! What a great way to make sure all the students have what they need and not pay the 9.75% sales tax. I'll be buying my husband's grad school materials here. read more

I have walked out of this store wowed by service multiple times which is saying something because it is just a drug store after all. Someone came out and held the door for me with my stroller without me asking, there is always someone greeting people at the entry and once they honored a price on diapers (that had been incorrectly stocked) without any hassle at all. I have had several issues with the pharmacy here - but this one is beyond excusable. My husband went to pick up prescription Vitamin D for my son. The outside package had his name on it, address, and medication name. The pill bottle on the inside was for a completely different person. The medication was not Vitamin D. It was Metroprolol -- a beta blocker -- for an adult. Not something to mess up and accidentally give your 4-year-old son. Thanks CVS. I will never return to this store again. read more
