Customer or not, this place won't let you use the restroom...they tell you to go across the street to a mom and pop surf shop to use their restroom...corporate greed to not even let your customers use your bathroom and then send you to the surf shop/cafe with two employees. Well, once again, the manager of the pharmacy has gone above and beyond to make picking up prescriptions as painless as possible. Today I was picking up some medication for my partner and it came out to be about $100 more than it usually is and it's his birthday so I was in kind of a rush and I asked her if I could come back and she said I will work on this. No problem. Within about 15 minutes. I got a phone call and it was back down to $14 instead of 120. It's not that she got the price down that makes a difference is that she understood and she was kind and that always makes more of a difference than any discount ...so thank you CVS for hiring good people. read more

I am constantly overcharged by this pharmacy, after they state "that is the price with insurance". When I said to send the prescription to another pharmacy, the "pharmacist" TAO did actually put it through my insurance, and the price of the RX is now $7 instead of $77. She is so very rude, and to think she is actually training others is a lesson in contempt. read more

The pharmacy used to be better. Now it is a mess. The pharmacy was failing to help me communicate with my doctor's office concerning a prescription (change of dosage and manufacturer specification). A month ago, I agreed to pay full price to get my meds because they did not have the generic in stock. I then communicated to the pharmacy twice and my doctor's office twice; CVS said they would communicate. They did not. So, when I went for a refill, they tried to charge me full uninsured price again. The staff are nearly useless; they only stare into the computer and do not listen to the customer. I switched pharmacies to one of their nearest competitors and I am so glad I did. Don't put up with hassles and bait-and-switch from CVS pharmacy. Really nice CVS in La Jolla! The parking is downstairs and you take a set of escalators to get to and from the parking area. This CVS seems a little cramped on the inside but it does the job. This pharmacist and assistant stayed past the 5 PM Saturday closing time to fill the Rx my doctor had called in a little over two hours earlier. They weren't happy about it but the prescriptions should have been filled by the time we arrived and I was pretty sick -- and the reason it was going to be past 5 PM was because my partner had to wait in line... but when they heard I was very sick at home they made sure I got the medicine. My mom went in to get a pneumonia shot and she was given a flu shot. She had already received a flu shot 5 days prior.

I spent 1/2 hour there on Sunday evening, trying to find a particular item. Long lines at check-out (8 deep), so I looked on my own for 15 minutes -- no luck. I tried to get help at the pharmacy, but the lady there saw me waiting at the counter area, and just walked out of the pharmacy area. So, I waited 15 minutes in the purchase line at the the front, in order to just ask where my item might be located. Got my answer, retrieved the item, but didn't want another 15 minute wait to reach a register, so I tried the "self-service" register. Wasted 7 minutes there, but wasn't able to get it to close me out. So, I just dropped my item and walked out. Went back this morning at 7:30am (so I wouldn't have to contend with the crowd at the register. Yelp says that the store opens at 7am, and so does the phone message at CVS, but the store was not open at 7:30am. I will have to start going elsewhere. read more

(we were too busy chatting about our personal lives while you were wandering around looking for things). 3) Any other exit greeting besides "have a nice day". The store is in a convenient location, cute, clean, and has everything you may need without the other distractions stores like Target offer... a win/win in my book. Located in Bird Rock, there is parallel parking on the side, a parking garage underneath, and plenty near the residential in the back. This is your typical CVS, just slightly smaller then some of the other locations which are much larger. They have a wide array of anything and everything you might need which is a plus (booze, snacks, home necessities etc). I am so glad that I transferred my prescriptions to this CVS. (The one on Villa La Jolla Drive is horrible - my review on that one tells you why). This CVS is smaller and located in Bird Rock, but the staff here is great. The people who work at the pharmacy actually seem to care and know how to do their job! They were able to change my last name, contact my doctor in a timely manner to refill my Rx, answer my questions, and are quick (other CVS is lacking in these areas). Their ready-fill service works well; sometimes too well. I usually wait until the last day to get my Rx and will continue to get calls from them reminding me to pick it up. It's never too crowded when I'm there and the staff is pretty helpful when I'm looking for things. The selection is limited because it is a smaller store, but I don't usually purchase more than just my Rx, candy, and some toiletries. This CVS does have a parking garage underneath that is never full. So, if you don't want to park on the street, you can park underground and take the escalator or elevator up. All CVS stores do have the Extracare card which, if you use it right, you can get ExtraBucks, which is the equivalent to dollars off your transactions. They also do provide coupons on certain things and accept manufacturer coupons, so if you do your research, you can save quite a bit shopping here. read more

They decided not to carry any Hanukkah cards and instead only Christmas cards and in speaking to the manganese he said nothing except "I'm sorry you feel that way". This has got to be the most beautiful Longs I have ever been to. And that was a sentence I never would have imagined I would have said in my entire life! There is a parking lot downstairs. In typical Birdrock fashion, entereing can be a bit tricky, since they seemed to construct the entrance/exit to only be one and a half lanes wide. The staff is extremely welcoming. The security guard even remembers who I am! But I think that is only because I never make lists and forget to buy everything I need in one shopping session, so they end up seeing me two-three times a day. They close at 10pm, so late late night cravings need to be satisfied elsewhere. But this is definitely a great addition to the neighborhood. read more

After what seemed like years of constant jackhammers and all the other dreadful sounds of construction (it was awful...nearly impossible to have a telephone conversation in my own house) the Longs in Bird Rock has opened its doors and I find myself elated. Gone are the headaches, dust-filled air, dump trucks then cement trucks littering La Jolla Blvd and what is left is miraculous. Everything is so shiny and clean...even the staff. The cashiers and security guards make a point to welcome you and offer assistance immediately upon arrival. Underground parking is a plus. This store has just about everything one requires...sans produce. My experiences with the pharmacy have been stellar. It offers auto-fill on prescriptions and THEY call YOU when it's ready for pickup. I think that is the best thing since Ben & Jerry's Half-Baked (which is also available for purchase). Being that it's a hop skip and a jump across the blvd. and the store and pharmacy have impressed me beyond belief (it's the little things that matter most), I must say the incredible inconveniences were worth suffering for such a glorious result! This is my local drug store/ pharmacy. It is clean, service is good and it is convenient. I don't like the underground parking garage but I can usually find a nearby parking place. It is rarely crowded. Because it is small, it does not carry as much variety as some CVS stores but I usually can find what I need. I am very glad to have it nearby. read more

I love that they put a CVS here. It's perfect for people who live in Bird Rock and are basically equidistant from the CVS in La Jolla and the one in PB. The underground parking was a great idea because without it there would be nowhere to park. It's convenient, free, but a little cramped trying to navigate your way in. There's even an escalator from beneath going up into the store directly. The store if rather small compared to the other two CVS stores previously mentioned. You'll find your basic needs nonetheless. Alcohol, food, beauty supplies, beach equipment, and a full-blown pharmacy. I've had great experiences with the staff being friendly and helpful. The only serious drawback is that the fountains outside of the store have not been running and filtered, so there has been water sitting in there for months. When I peeked inside, it was a total breeding ground for mosquitoes and pinworms... that is not okay to have outside of a business... or anywhere, for that matter. Someone needs to clean that out. A drugstore in Bird Rock, on La Jolla Blvd is indeed a welcome addition. They have a decent sized refrigerated section with beers, wines, milk, etc. We live right across the street, so it makes the place all the more convenient to us. For those of you with accounts at Wells Fargo, they have a WF ATM right outside, which is also great to have in the neighborhood as well. read more

The pharmacist does not give you instruction on how to take your medication. I had two prescriptions filled. One I took for days before i realized that it should have been taken with food to avoid stomach upset. There was no warning by the pharmacist or written anywheres on the bottle. The second one was a suspension for eyes. I couldn't see the tiny print on the bottle because of my eye problem. The pharmacist said nothing about shaking the bottle before use. It wasn't until day 3 when I stsrted feeling better that I saw the printed information. read more

CVS & Regional Manager Wolfgang simply don't get it! They offer 2-for-1's or other buy-1-get-1-free (it's not really free) and then often don't have the "for-1" product in stock either given the size of store or bait-n'-switch tactics. I am a management consultant whom have helped numerous world-class retail names and attempted to contact CVS Regional manager Wolfgang to discuss to no avail given he appears to hide behind his voicemails. CVS, both Rite Aid (new location in Pacific Beach) & Walgreen's are on-your-tail and closing in. read more

I live up the street from this store and come here just about every day. I have my prescriptions filled, buy wine, food and snacks, and take the kids I'm babysitting to get treats at this location. I come here so often that the staff (always friendly) knows me by name. There is a fantastic gem within this store-and that is the pharmacy staff. I've never met pharmacists that are more concerned, friendly or caring than the professionals that I've met here. To give examples-they knew I was paying out of pocket for prescriptions due to lack of health plan and each and every one of the staff, individually, that rang up my bill tried everything they could to lower my astronomical bill in any which way they could think of (without me asking). I also had my previous Dr. speak with one of the pharmacists at this location to figure out the best money saving plan for me and the med I needed to be on, while being uninsured, with great results! I love this store and especially love the friendly staff that makes this place what it is. It's the best any neighborhood can get to the good old days of good customer service (and Bird Rock is lucky to have it). read more
