Team is nice, but this is a horrible location in terns of things they can't control. While frequented by tourists, it also gets more than its fair share of mentally unstable unhoused people, some violent, who have made Pacific Beach a less than rad place to live. That's because is it very close to the ocean and churches, so showers and free meals are in abundance (relatively speaking). Is that the fault of this location? No. And again, the staff is quite nice. I just don't appreciate being challenged when walking buy or inside. It's just a few blocks off the ocean and main strip in PB, near a great Better Buzz coffee shop, Breakfast Republic, and more. It's not overtly dangerous, just keep your eyes open. read more

First of all, the website says they're open till midnight, and they're not. I'm sitting here at 10:45 in front of the store and it's locked. All they're doing is letting people out and not letting people in. I understand if the hours are just wrong on the website, because that happens sometimes when they change their hours and forget to update the website. But they're closed at 10:45. The lady inside said they closed at 11 so it's still 15 minutes early. It's extremely frustrating to customers when they choose a location based on its hours only to have the store closed. I'm no longer going to go to this location. This is ridiculous. * Actually I just checked their website again and it says that their hours were updated two months ago. Weird hours. Here at 9:30 on a Saturday night in urgent need of items that you can only get at a pharmacy and they are closed!! Website says they are open until 11:00 pm., and Yelp says until midnight. Next nearest location is not answering their phone and I'm not going to play hopscotch trying to see what's really open and what isn't. It's worth the drive to go to a Walgreens. I guess this is why Walgreens is so much more popular in Arizona! read more

I've used the CVS pharmacy for years and have always gotten stellar service there. The prescriptions my doctor has ordered have been waiting for me, those that need to be refrigerated have been, and the pharmacist has answered any questions I've had about my medications. Parked at cvs went in spent 50$ just to be harassed by a parking attended about I "need to leave immediately" while visiting from out of town I wasn't allowed to arrange my purchased items in my trunk before being confronted. DO NOT purchase gift cards from this location!!! I purchased two Amazon gift cards, each $100. I mailed them to my siblings for their birthday and come to find out the activation codes were cut out. SCAM!! I should have known better because they hold the gift cards behind the counter instead of out on the floor. I'm not sure who is at fault but I would not purchase gift cards from this location. Don't know what happened, been going to the pharmacy here for 17 years and last 2 years they have constantly dropped the ball. Unorganized at least 5 different times the pharmacy was closed when it should have been open or pharmacist wasn't there so I couldn't pick up prescription. Twice they substituted my prescription from what the dr. ordered without even consulting me first. Sadly I will not be a customer any longer. Guess I will give rite aide a try. I've been going to this CVS since the '90s, and it's always been my favorite. The Pharmacists seem to remember me, though I'm only there every few months, and the checkers are efficient. Please remember what a tough job this store has with the beach crowd clientele - it's surrounded by bars and the beach, so that means rude drunk people, the truly destitute homeless, and the Outdoor Americans (homeless by choice!). And locals! I hope we're their favorites :-) I like how bright and airy this store is compared to the one on Sports Arena. The CVS on Garnet Ave. is good too, but this one on Mission Blvd. is my preferred choice. Organized, efficient, brightly lit, friendly to sober, normal-acting people. Don't be that jerk. read more

Extremely nice customer service. Almost immediately was asked if I needed help finding anything. Not really but thanks. They weren't pester-y about it either. What stood out was how helpful and friendly the staff were at this CVS. It's a major chain drugstore, one of the biggest in the nation. So there are zero expectations of assistance. As with many stores, just depends on the workers who interact with you. Bonus: the cashier had a mountain of those red customer care/loyalty cards, and swiped one of them without even asking me if I had one or wanted to sign up for it. Without me even saying a thing. In other words, he rang up sale prices, regardless. If you've read a previous review of another CVS, well, you would know how I feel about adding yet another card to my purse. Granted, it was just a couple of visits during vacation. So who knows if my experience was a fluke or not. But shopping at the Pacific Beach CVS was totally kool. read more

This will go down as the first bad review I've left for a business. Don't listen to the listed hours online, on the window of the store, or the big sign that reads "Open Until Midnight" because apparently their not. I ran over here to pick something up for a friend who was in need. I won't get into the details but it was very necessary and this was the only place open at the time where I would be able to get it. I showed up at 10:45 but the doors seemed to be locked. I looked inside and saw one woman still shopping around so I knocked on the door to see if a worker would let me in. I received a glare from the one worker I saw in the store. When the woman was done shopping he came over to lock the door and I asked him if they were closed. I did not get a response but instead got the door closed on my face and locked with no answer. Every other CVS I've ever been to I've had a fantastic experience, but this was not the case here and I will not be returning. read more

Popped in here after an afternoon hanging around Pacific Beach. This is a large store that supplies the neighborhood with basic home goods, beer, liquor, snacks, hygiene products, and a pharmacy. I needed some fingernail clippers, but couldn't find them in the small window of time we had to rummage around inside (we had to go drink some microbrews, dude!). The wife ended up with a sugary beverage. My in-laws came out with a bag of cosmetics. Stores like this are necessary hubs in busy neighborhoods like PB. Did not think I would review any type of chain, be it a pharmacy, restaurant etc.. but holy cow. I'll give them this: The women at the pharmacy seem nice. There's their second star. Strike one: I show up for my prescription (I got a call to verify that it was available)... The woman tells me to wait ten minutes. I was the only person there, waiting in one of three seats. Twenty minutes later she asked me if I needed help. When I told her I was still waiting, she said "Oh yeah you're the girl, it's been ready for like ten minutes." Strike two: I walk up to the pick-up counter, am ignored for a minute or two until one of four women tells me that she will be right with me. I wait as she walks away, and another woman approaches me asking if I need anything. I tell her "no, another lady said she would be right with me.." but when I realized that first woman was not coming back, despite my efforts to flag down any one of the other gossipy girls it took ten more minutes to get any of their attention. Strike three: I wanted to switch my pharmacy after the first two strikes, but my insurance expired and I still got my last month's prescription there so I wanted to see how long this would last. I expected to have an issue this time. I tend bar and make enough money to purchase my own medication. I was willing to have that conversation, but the way that she treated me like a jobless nuisance was the last straw. read more

If you Ever need help finding a new make-up product, their beauty expert Thania is just Beyond awesome!! Seriously more helpful than anyone at Sephora. In my case my face make-up was discontinued and I really needed help finding an exact replacement (it's kinda the one thing that has to be a perfect match). Thania helped me find the Perfect replacement, which I actually like Better than what I used before. Today I needed her help with another product and she was right there to help me. Holy crap, they need to get their stuff together. The store is a mess while they reorganize from being a Longs Drug. But that didn't bother me. The zombies working the night crew at the pharmacy were duds. I went in at 8:30pm to pick up a prescription that was already filled. After being ignored by the two pharmacy pholks for ten minutes, I piped up. It took five more minutes to hand me the meds, then almost 10 more minutes for them to charge me $7. Did I mention that I was the only one there? In that time, my syphilis reached an advanced condition, completely laying waste to my mental state. read more

I'm sick, I'm in pain and I need to pick up a prescription but I can't do it because their parking lot is full of people using it for the beach. Are you in the pharmacy business or the beach parking business? I thought it was a pharmacy but I'm obviously wrong because they put a higher priority on beach parking than they do their pharmacy customers. People were drunk, walking around yelling to each other, picking up more booze to consume and generally acting like twits...and all this at 7:00 in the evening. I guess it's not the store's fault that there is approximately one bar person in the city of Pacific Beach...it makes for some major alcohol consumption among the college age kids who frequent the area. As for this store, I give them a thumbs up. One of the girls there helped me find what I was looking for and the guy who checked me out was nice and friendly. Nice location. I've always had pleasant experiences with the staff here, both pharmacy and general merchandise staff. It's pretty much like a mini Target. Can find almost anything you may need here. Use caution with the seedy transients that loiter out front. They can get a little too close and are sometimes intoxicated. read more

This review is JUST for the pharmacy- I've had nothing but pleasant experiences with the staff of the actual store. Almost every interaction I have had with the Pharmacists at this CVS has been unpleasant. One man is always nice, but almost EVERYONE else is downright rude. I can't believe how I was spoken to as a customer. I am always polite, I consider it embarrassing not to be.....obviously the staff at this pharmacy could care less. When I have called over the phone, i've been cut off, spoken to dryly, and hung up on without even a "good-bye" let alone the standard thank you for calling. It was so bad at one point that I called the general manager to complain. I have also interacted with Angela before....but haven't in a while. Hopefully she no longer works here. I would suggest that CVS stress the importance of customer service skills when hiring people at this location...because it is sorely lacking. Done with this pharmacy! The only reason I stuck around for so long was because how close it was, but clearly, its not worth it!! read more
