I came here for passport pictures. The two cashiers were busy...so I waited. After about 10 minutes, a man came. He gave me an "exasperated and annoyed attitude" during the photo taking as if he did not want to do his job. I looked at his name tag and it says Operations Manager (And I believe the name is Scot). So I said to him, "You are not friendly. Are you the manager?" He said yes. I was shocked that an Operations Manager would give a customer an exasperated, annoyed attitude. His excuse was that he has back pain and the pain medication is not working. I bet if I was a white person or a male customer, he would have given me a more respectful customer service (with no back pain excuse). CVS Corporate should be aware how this Operations Manager treats customers in reality. read more

Came in for a COVID booster and the pharmacist Jeff Ng helped me. He was extremely professional and fast. We had a great conversation about how rude other customers can be to healthcare professionals and their overall lack of understanding regarding how a pharmacy operation works. I've had a prescription waiting on order for 6 days. An ointment for wound care, so critical. I called and asked the status after 6 days when I only received email that said it was on order, and was told it would probably be available after the new Year...so another 5-6 day. when I told them it was critical and asked what I could do they said I could go back to the doctor or call other CVS to see if they had any in stock. WHAT! The first pharmacist at another CVS told me that was crazy, they were able to search all San Diego stores for availability. They gave me the specific stores but told me to call back mine and have them make the calls... which they should have done in the first place. I decided to call a store that's inventory said they had half of what I needed. unfortunately, they typically do not keep their store inventory up to date and they didn't have any as well. I finally gave up, had my doctor prescribe to Amazon and was able to order. read more

Worst customer service. Prescription was called in last night, I received a call saying it was ready at 10am. I come to CVS, wait in line and only 1 of the 2 are ready. I have to then wait in the drop off line and they say they're not sure what happened but I have to wait 5 min for the prescription. I ask if I need to wait again in the pick up line and the clerk says yes I have to wait again. What is wrong with people??!!! I was told they were ready, come here, and it's not ready and was told I needed to wait in line again when it was their mistake!!! And not even an apology. This is why I go to specialty pharmacies - such better customer service. read more

Location is the only positive thing I can say about CVS. I have transferred all of my prescriptions over to Pharmaca and I am glad I did. This CVS location is dirty and the customer service is non existent. I am left on my own to hunt for products and the staff is not knowledgeable. Just a big corporate chain. Went to pharmacy's Vaccination counter today, 10/15/2021 at 4:30 pm, to get info regarding booster shot. A young man, while working at his desk computer and staring at screen in front of, him asked us, my wife and I, what we were looking for. I started to ask my question but he was still busy typing and staring at his computer screen avoiding rudely any eye contact with us. Since his attention was divided, he couldn't understand the simple inquiry regarding- who was eligible to get the third shot? Finally, I suggested to stop typing if he wants me to repeat my question. Then he looked at us for the first time with his fingers still on the keypad and said with a cold voice "I'm ready". At this time we just turned around and left the counter. To CVS and whoever running this branch in La Jolla, 7525 Eads Ave., please train your employees and make sure they face customers with respect. We have been to this branch so many time but never experienced such a treatment. read more

I recently moved back to the USA after living and working in the UK for 30 years; so I am relearning US rules and procedures. I live around the corner from CVS in La Jolla and thought I'd make it my go to pharmacy. I have Long Covid and asthma, and am taking several medications including one medication that weakens my immune system, and a friend who has cancer said she'd gotten a second booster and thought, given my health conditions, I should enquire about getting one too. So I made an appointment online; the form said do I have a weakened immune system? I say yes. I show up at the pharmacy counter and I say I'm there to check in for my vaccine. Do I have my vaccination card? No because the NHS in the UK does the vaccine record electronically and UCSD has accepted this and my UCSD MyChart app shows my vaccinations. Well this was the first monkey wrench - the person at the pharmacy counter did not know what to do and was not willing to look at my phone. Then a second person, Jeffrey - presumably a pharmacist, extremely rude, comes up and asks how I am immunocompromised I say Long Covid. "Never heard of it" he says, then he starts talking about "compliance with CDC rules" saying I'm not immunocompromised and he won't give me the vaccine. Then I ask which conditions are covered and he says he's not going to tell me because I'd "just tell him I had that condition so he'd give me a vaccine" and that if I had one of those conditions "I'd know and wouldn't need to ask him". I was really shocked by his treatment of me as a customer, with such aggression, contempt and lack of compassion and impugning that I'd try to scam him just to get a vaccine. Well I went home and read about current CDC policy on vaccines and saw I'd likely have to wait a few more months before getting a booster, which is fine by me as I only went to get one because my friend suggested it and I got an alert on my phone suggesting I get a second booster. When I mentioned the latter to Jeffrey he said "well you can get your doctor to call us and they can explain to us why they want us to break CDC rules for you". I felt so beaten up by the experience that I don't plan on going back to that CVS any time soon, which is a shame because I live literally 50 yards from it and with my health conditions would have given them a lot of business. read more

Super busy and good quality pharmacy but....3 times out of 4 they re out of the meds and they have to order them. Even trying to leave the prescription a week early does not help. They are working hard but it's such a busy neighborhood that they are overwhelmed and sometimes a bit cranky. The pharmacy looks like a mess as well. Stuff everywhere. They need to step up their management and resources that's for sure. Bummer because super convenient location read more

The Staff is great here! I still miss the "old Longs Drugs" but the employees are still for the most part, part of the "golden days". The pharmacy has always been efficient and the staff is really nice. They are open long hours and usually have everything that you need from seasonal items to ice cream, sunblock etc....They are pretty well stocked. Someone wrote a yelp review about long receipts that was pretty funny. Yes, they do give out mile long receipts but they are for a good cause of saving you money. I still need to get into the habit of using those coupons! They have a CHASE ATM which has been very convenient for me. You can get cash back at their registers. They cut keys, make photo books, sell stamps and have a copy machine. They have sales regularly. Great for tourists staying in La Jolla. Pretty centrally located! I enjoy coming in and getting stuff here. Not real problems with lines until the later part of the night when there is limited staff. P.S. They sell ink toner for printers and they are usually cheaper than Staples/Office Depot. If you have extra bonus bucks, you can get a cheaper rate. read more

I've been to this CVS twice. The first time was to get a money order and the girl at the front counter couldn't get my drivers' license to go through. I have never had this problem at any other store, so I eventually gave up and paid more for someone competent to do it at my bank. The second time I was there, I was picking up a prescription for an antibiotic because my normal pharmacy, Pharmaca, was closed. I probably would have gotten it sooner if I had just waited for Pharmaca to open at 9 AM the next day. I walked around the store for an hour, then when it was finally ready, I had to wait in line behind 8 people, which took another 45 minutes. I was sick too (obviously), so that just made it worse. The woman who rung me out wasn't very nice about it. Made me appreciate Pharmaca that much more! Next time, I'll just go home and go to bed and wait for Pharmaca to open. read more

I don't buy my prescriptions at this particular CVS, but I do like this store. It is a bit on the small size and may lack some of the products/brands you find in the bigger branches, but I usually find what I need, and around the holidays I find myself making those little impulse buys. They have some especially cute Halloween, Thanksgiving and Xmas decorations, though! Can't help myself. I'd give them top scores if only they were better at keeping sale items in stock. Management, however, has been pretty decent in allowing me to buy substitute items at the sale price on more than one occasion, which is cool. One star for that. One more star goes to the super friendly middle-aged dude on the nighttime shift. All the employees are pretty friendly, but this guy's king. He greets you at the door if he's not ringing anyone up at the moment, and is always ready to help you look for something. Also he'll work all your coupons into the best possible deal for you, though sometimes it may mean you need to make 2 separate purchases. Worth it, though; I save at least 50% per visit. Hubby is always impressed - and at the same time it covers up my nasty little knickknack-purchasing habit. Parking can be a *total pain*. If you drive to the front of the lot via the entrance that runs between CVS and BevMo and there are no spaces, you have to drive out *into the street* in order to U-turn back into the lot. If you can't find a space in the back part of the lot either, you may or may not want to risk parking in the equally teeny BevMo lot. (This is yet another reason why I run my errands at night. ;) read more

I just to be a fan of CVS until I dealt with the manager Bruce at the La Jolla Eads CVS. I had called Saturday evening about a memory card price. I was told it was on sales for half price and said I would get there this weekend to buy it. I go in early Sunday morning and it is no longer on sale. Bruce the manager says sale ended last night. NOOONE TOLD ME THIS EARLIER and Bruce says more or less tough luck but he will throw in some extra bucks that doesnt even cover the difference. No accountability or anything. I may go to CVS store again but just not this one. Way to lose a customer Bruce. read more

Took my doctor and me three or four tries and doing without important medication two days because of pharmacy's failures.

I won't return! How many times does a doctor have to call to authorize a prescription? Too many at this CVS. There are so many things wrong with this place - a woman with blond-ish hair that has such a nasty attitude. I would swear that our name was put on a black list somewhere. They seem to be able to fill non-essential prescriptions, but for those that really count, we are always left anxiously waiting, told that the doctor didn't call (when he did, several times), that prescriptions won't be filled for several days. It makes getting refills a monthly time consuming chore. We're switching to Vons, just a block away, from now on. read more

This store is huge and has thousands of junky items that have nothing to do with health. That said, I go there for my one prescription because it is close. Because it is close, I walk by almost daily. The outside and the grounds are dirty. The plants need care. The massive growth on Eads needs to be cut. Called the pharmacist at 6pm on 11/12/2018. I spoke to the pharmacist and got an extremely rude pharmacist who isn't helpful nor productive in her job. She spoke to me in a degrading manner and had no help. I called a much better location in clairmont where they were much more receptive and provided details on what to do. This place is right across the street from where I live so I am here quite often. It's nothing special but it's handy to have nearby in a pinch. Super friendly staff but the store is kind of drab. Shelves looked unstocked and/or generally messy. They always seem to have what I am looking for but it's definitely no frills. Value is good too if you are a CVS member which is easy to sign up for when you check out. read more

This pharmacy is amazing. At other pharmacy locations, I have had to wait for my RX as if they wait for you to come pick it up and then fill the script. Here they even text you when your RX is ready. I never have to waste time waiting. They also never say no.....they try to find a way. I love that!! I'm so happy that my Dr suggested this pharmacy. No need to go anywhere else!! read more

This is the worst pharmacy I have ever been to. I will not take my business any place where the customer service is less than stellar. The pharmacist was extremely rude and the wait in line was far too long. I could hear other people behind me commenting on how ridiculous the wait was, and how it was like that the other times they had been there. I didn't think much of it until the wait grew even longer and I finally got to the counter. I am so disappointed by the rudeness and lack of friendliness by the pharmacy staff. Around June/July of 2009 I saw the assistant manager (an older man with gray hair) punch a bum in the face. This happened just outside of the store's entrance. The action was unnecessary and way over the line. The bum wearing red sweatpants and a shirt was asking people for help and the manager told him to leave. The reply was, "Shut up!" , to which the assistant manager replied with a closed fist punch to the face of the bum who was sitting cross legged on the ground. I hope that the assistant manager no longer has a job there, or in any customer service/retail business. read more

This was a Longs Drugs forever until the chain was bought out several years ago by CVS. Despite the name on the door, it seems like pretty much the same place. I think it's pretty big by CVS standards, so the selection was decent. Picking up a prescription was pretty painless. So, nothing special here - just your typical CVS. read more
