This location has a fantastic California fine wine selection. Some of the bottles are very reasonably priced based on national averages whereas others are way overpriced. A conscious consumer should do their own research while in-store. Also be mindful of whether your purchase is beyond its drink-ability. For example, I picked up a bottle of 2012 Ravenswood Shiraz. It was vinegar and even Vivino told me it was no longer good. The Old World selection upstairs leaves much to be desired. The staff could be a little more friendly and helpful. The location is massive and has a giant bar. I'm assuming they may host events here, but I'm not sure. read more

These guys are serious about their beer, wine, and alcoholic beverages. I was shocked with their collection in their store. I've been to a few other Keg n Bottles around town, but this one is the far most intensive one I've been to. Not only is it intensive with their inventory, but the employees are quite knowledgeable about the products they offer. I was most impressed with the wine collection and that they also offered cigars from a large dehumidifier. Great friendly service. Be on the lookout for wine and beer tasting events that they hold every once in a while. read more

This is a really nice store, but...their business practices suck. I bought 3 kegs of beer using my credit cared and deposited $30 per for keg deposit. I returned the kegs and was issued a credit for $90. This was all conducted by a woman. I kept my paperwork. They never turned in my $90 credit to my bank. I then went to the store and the terse male manager told me to "talk to your bank because we had to have credited the same credit card." The paperwork identifies the refund as "External Credit Card Refund -$90.00." I emailed the owner of Keg & Bottle, Anthony Konja, who asked me for the 4 digit number of my credit card so that he "could find out where this went." Despite 6 more emails to him, he never again communicated with me. In my last email, I told him that this was bad for his business. Rather than wasting time in Small Claims Court on a small matter like this, I disputed $90 of the charge for the full kegs. My bank is investigating. But I find business practices like this unacceptable and disgusting. To IGNORE a customer is just wrong; to place a burden like this on a customer is awful--DO NOT SET FOOT IN KEG & BOTTLE IS MY ADVICE TO CONSUMERS. read more

The best craft beer selection I have seen, period! While visiting San Diego, I wanted to find a central selection of local craft brew. I was hoping to take a bunch home to share with my NorCal friends and family. Keg n Bottle in La Jolla did not disappoint. A huge walk-in cooler is dedicated to cans and bottles of hundred of different beers. One will find a huge selection of local beers along with some further away choices. It's probably my least favorite Disney movie as well, so not sure why I thought of the library scene from Beaty and The Beast when I walked in here. The Country Market is the local store in this area. It has a very "mom and pop" feel. Sadly, because they are independent, some of their prices show, but depending on where you are and how much of a rush you're in, their selection is very comprehensive and worth stopping in for. I was impressed by how big their alcohol selection was given the size of the full space. A lot of the shelves go up to the top of the ceiling. I was kind of surprised no one asked to help me, especially since it wasn't that full, but it gave me some time to wander and contemplate my options. read more

I went to buy a bottle of wine at their shop last weekend. Two employees were working the register. They were not wearing facial coverings the entire time I was shopping (about 10 minutes). My first time ever at a Keg n Bottle! We were in the area and needed to pick up a bottle of liquor. Can I just say that this place is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! It's like a heaven of liquor. It's like a more rustic bevmo convenient store. THEY HAVE SO MUCH VARIETY! Blew my mind. My friend specifically wanted me to try a liquor that was similar to Hennessy, but was slightly cheaper, and in which, he thought was better. We asked the store clerk because he forgot the name, and he knew exactly what we were talking about. It's called Camus. The bottle is prettier too. The store clerk had to climb a ladder to reach it on top. But service was fast and efficient. Honestly, I couldn't tell much of a difference in taste, but it wasn't bad! read more

I went in today for the first time in years to grab a sandwich and it's completely changed! It's turned into a liquor library. Now they have floor to ceiling wooden bookshelves around the whole store stocked with every single bottle of liquor known to man. They also have a large variety of beers and wines. I am loving this place more and more each time I go! I found this place through a coworker, praising their sandwiches and for Downtown La Jolla, you can't really beat the prices. For 6.99-7.99 you get a GIANT sandwich loaded with super fresh ingredients (I've had the sandpiper-pastrami and the princess-turkey and avocado) YUMMM! :D They also have a great selection of snacks including superfresh mexican candy (most places I see it looks like the candy has expired eons ago, but this is looks new and crisp and freshly stocked). They've also renovated/are in the process of renovating and their private bathrooms are GORGEOUS! The staff is super friendly and there's a little sitting area if you need a place to eat your sandwich. I usually eat half of the sandwich there and save the other half for later on in the day! Not pleased with their method of verifying ID's... Got in town for a friends birthday and decided to grab some wine for the hotel room. Walked a few blocks and stumbled upon this place. When checking out the guy was looking at my ID for a reasonably long time (granted I am 25 and I most likely look underage to him) Then I asked what the issue was. He proceeded to try and ask me a series of questions. I said "look, I'm 25, can't you just scan my ID?". He turns to an older gentleman behind me in line and says "what do you think? Is she old enough?" and the guy must have shook his head no because the cashier proceeded to say "didn't think so". Then the guy behind me starts asking me when I was born. (Which is 1992) then telling me I'm wrong. That if I was 25 I would be born in 93 so I'm lying. I was getting irritated at this point. It was completely ridiculous. My ability to buy alcohol was being decided by some old drunk standing in line behind me. The cashier proceeds to tell me "sorry, just doing my job".... wouldn't it be a lot easier if you got an ID scanner? I mean, you are a liquor store after all. read more

Their sandwiches deserve like 14 stars. Oh. Em. Gee. Basically, this is a glorified convenience store with a deli in the back. It's right by my office, so I stop in here at least once a week for a "La Valencia". They take foreverrrr to make a sandwich, but it's so worth it. (Call ahead if you're in a rush). The only small annoyance I have is that lately there's been a girl behind the deli counter that just seems grumpy, and never greets my coworkers and I when we walk up. But it doesn't make the sandwiches any less glorious - so I can overlook it. The owner/manager is super friendly, so maybe he can give her some lessons in people skills. read more
