This is about the pharmacy, it's a CVS so no surprises there. As most of their customers are antediluvian you'd think the staff would be trained in some old timey civility. But no. It's as if they go out of their way to be as rude as they can. If you were wondering what a Gen Z stare is you won't have to wait long to witness one. While you're waiting for them to get themselves organized you can listen to both sides of a HIPAA stretching conversation with someone in the Drive Thru. When driving into the Northside of Chicago, this CVS is very conveniently located in Lincolnwood. The parking lot is spacious and is often clear. The store itself is well stocked and clean. I've only had one odd experience when they wouldn't honor a sale, which was in the sale paper - but that's ok. It's also located in a residential area with a golf course across the street, so there's less traffic here. There's also a Dunkin' Donuts a few doors down and that makes it even more convenient. read more

This review is for the pharmacy. I got my flu shot here today. Though the sign says I can get $5 off $20 coupon and $2 ExtraBucks Rewards too as an ExtraCare member, I got the coupon only, no $2 rewards. Even worst is that no staff hepled me to solve the issue, no store manager there either. Called customer service number. Once I typed in my ExtraCare card number, the call was disconnected. This review is for the pharmacy. The staff at the retail store are generally competent and friendly. The staff at the pharmacy are rude, uncaring and incompetent. The only reason I go to CVS is that my insurance company requires any 90 day supply to be filled at CVS. Otherwise, I get all my other prescriptions at Jewel Osco. Jewel gives you a rewards card and when you fill 5 prescriptions at Osco you get a 20% off coupon for your groceries. Plus Osco staff is much more professional than CVS Pharmacy staff. I had to get a prescription filled but my Jewel-Osco was already closed for the evening (9/9/2024). I went to this CVS when I approached the pharmacy counter, the younger looking guy with a goatee was extremely rude. He motioned to me like I was a dog, then grabbed the prescription out of my hand, he was having some difficulty with the computer so he handed it back to me and pointed for me to go to this young lady who was on her cell phone. I told her that he treated me very rudely and she apologized but it clearly was not sincere. She took my RX and then paged me that the doctor forgot to include something. She said "I can't fill this prescription". No "sorry" nor did she tell me why, only that the doctor forgot to include "some very important information". I asked her several times what was missing and she finally said the DEA number. What kind of people does CVS hire? Don't they have any people skills and common decency? I wound up filling this at another pharmacy. And I filled my next two 90 day supply RX's at Jewel-Osco by using "Good RX". I had to pay a little out of pocket but I'd rather pay a little more than be treated like complete trash. I did call to complain the next day and the pharmacist who answered told me that those were all newer employees and that people had complained about them before. Clearly CVS doesn't know how to train their employees during on boarding. Not giving you hundreds of dollar in insurance money anymore CVS. read more

Nice enough store, in so many ways an upgrade from when it used to be Osco. I almost want to say that customer service has somehow gotten better, but you don't see them as much. The same staff from Osco is still used today at this location. Since more of the store is readily viewable, for example in the aisles the shelving is lower, therefore it's easier to see and find things. Keg cans available here. read more

This is one of the worst CVS locations you will go to. The inside of the place is okay and has some good deals if you are able to catch them. The pharmacy, on the other hand is an absolute train wreck. It's so dirty and so dusty there. I dont believe it was ever cleaned. Hey CVS are handling meds, that's unsanitary. Get it together! Today I waited in the drive thru location for over 35 mins and only did so because I couldn't leave and was stuck in between cars. The sad part is that it's not a one-time thing here. I have always waited long there. In the past I have tolerated the 15 and 20 mins waits, but to expect a customer to be in the drive thru for 35 plus mins? What is the point of having a drive thru for Pete's sake? Today, I actually asked them to not give me change and just give me my meds. I was that late, but the pharmacist still proceeded to take his time. The incompetence level and lack of urgency broke me. I was stuck and needed to bring my family meds, but I would never step foot in that place. Not even for chapstick!!! Valory and Simon are the pharmacists. The pharmacy, which I've used for about 10 years, has really gone downhill. My dentist twice had to call in a prescription for me, and the automated status check finally today said they had 2 prescriptions for me. Well, since my dentist had to call twice, I figured they gave me two fills of the same drug. No problem; I'll use it. But when I went there, the staff - who had me waiting and waiting - finally said they didn't have anything for me. Three people got involved in trying to figure this out. One person, who seemed more senior, kept asking me if I ever lived in another state (no), then asked for the prescriber's name and found something for someone from that prescriber for a patient with my name. But it was a different drug than I usually get. The dosing information was correct, so I thought perhaps my dentist had ordered something different this time. No, she didn't. Walgreens gave me the wrong drug, The wrong drug! Interestingly, the name and address of the person on the Rx receipt was for a different - out of state - address. And there was just one Rx, not two for that name. Clearly they've got more than one patient with my relatively common name, but their system is completely messed up and has us utterly confused. At least they billed the other person's insurance, not mine. However, I've changed my pharmacy to another (not a Walgreens) on my health system portal. I'm done with Walgreens! read more

Yup, I'm updating my review on my favorite CVS. Why? Because I really, really like this location. The one literally walking distance from my house is a hot mess. This one is convenient to my work commute and, if I'm somewhat in the area, I will gladly drive a bit out of the way to go to this one. It's never crazy-crowded. The staff is nice. Worst pharmacy ever. Waited so at least 30 mins to talk to pharmacy tech just so that they can hang up on me. Called again; waited another 30 minutes and still could not resolve an issue with my mothers meds. Had to call the doctors office to have them speak to the pharmacy there which got resolved. read more

I waited on hold for over a half hour. I have a screen shot at minute 26:50, so trust me, this is no exaggeration. When Walgreens pharmacy puts you on hold, they'll give you a pretty accurate approximation of how much longer you'll need to wait. This CVS runs a recording ad nauseum that gives the impression that you're just moments away from service. When, a human being finally answered (you guessed it) he put me on hold.... My pharmacy insurance changed so it is cheaper to get meds at CVS. I'll try another CVS branch and if this is the CVS norm, I'll gladly pay a few extra bucks to get our prescriptions filled at Walgreens. read more

* The main reason I go to this CVS is The Pharmacy Manager, who is friendly, accomodating and always willing to take an extra step like finding a better price or the brand you prefer. His Staff, i.e., the Staff that's been there over a year, all do what they can/will consult him. There's high staff turnover and not enough members but they all do the best they can. This Pharmacy is the best in many ways, of all the ones I've tried in my area. Yeah, I won't get into the one that used my credit card to have a dinner party, or the one that called the DEA thinking I absconded w/my Dr's scrip pad... * The retail side of this CVS a bit overpriced on most inventory, if they even have something you need; the coupons/weekly sales will drive you crazy because they don't work together. The Store Manager and long time Employees are all accomodating and friendly, all the time. This CVS is nearby, which helps. * Parking is always available, 3 Entrances/Exits. * This store is actually in LINCOLNWOOD, so you avoid Chi taxes, bag charges, etc. Funny every other store w/pharmacy w/i 5 miles before checking THIS one out. But, isn't that how it usually goes? They lose a star because of jacked up prices and inconsistent inventory. read more

I bought 2 lunchables here one time, only to get home and find that they were both expired. Another time I purchased a gallon of milk. It wasn't expired, but when I opened it, it smelled rancid. I haven't had a good experience in the pharmacy either. The head pharmacist, Simon Tarr is very nice, but some of his techs are very rude. read more

This is one of the most poorly ran pharmacies that I have used! The customer service is nonexistent and the technicians are poorly trained and a couple are not the brightest. On one occasion they gave me medications for another customer after I spelled my name for the tech twice. If you have a choice- save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere. Great service lighting was a little dark for me when in there for cold medicine but it was in a different spot from other location so I really couldn't find it it took me a little bit to locate someone that was able to find it but at the end of the day it was great service. I don't know if I would go into the CVS again maybe I'll go to Walgreens next time but maybe I'll go to CVS. read more

Terrible experience. Why would you take holiday items off clearance? Don't you want to sell them? One month after Christmas is over and you want to charge customers regular price for Christmas items that are old? That's stupid! If other people paid a clearance price wouldn't you rather sell the product and make money rather than liquidating it or destroying it? Your Valentine and Easter candy is now in stock. The people who work here are nice, just have no flexibility to really take care of customers properly. They are given direction from corporate office that is completely illogical based upon market trends. The two stars are for the kindness of the people that work at the store. Minus 1 star for lack of supplies and forward facing of items in the refrigerated and frozen section. Minus two stars for complete stupidness on holiday clearance items policy. Yesterday I spend 5 hours waiting for my husband's prescription. My husband is cancer patient just released from hospital and he needed medication for his pain.Pharmacist Christina M. was traing for 5 hours to call doctor hues name was on prescription because she didn't trust ME , releasing to ME directly because it is very strong narcotic for cancer patient and he was never on that before. WAW. I probably look like drug addict to her, but she is pharmacist , she will know. Afret 5 hours she said to go home and if doctor ever call they will call me back. WHEN, she didn't know. When I ask how is my husband going to survive night, Christina try prescription at me and refuse to continue and just walk again jelling DO NOT COME BACK. This morning I pick up my husbands prescription at other location without any trouble. For 5 hours I watch Christina M. at 101 Asbury Av CVS being rode to other people but I guess she is SOMEBADY, she is pharmacist and her boss let her to owned that place. Store manager Donna Rychlinski supported Christina M. 100%. What alse you can expect . I'll se what else I can do because person like Christina M. doesn't deserve this job and she is terrible example to people working with her. Thank you Diana S. read more

Compared to other CVS locations in the area, this is the friendliest and cheeriest I've been to, and not only don't you have to battle to use your discounts, the pharmacy in incredibly efficient. What a night & day experience in comparison to the one on Lincoln/Kostner just a short distance away. You are always greeted at the door with a request asking if they can assist. The stock could be a bit better, but basically I have been extremely pleased. I am more than willing to travel the extra distance to patronize this store. read more

This is for the pharmacy. I have several complaints but will just voice one right now. My daughter is on a medication that for some odd reason our insurance will cover the NAME BRAND at a much lower co-pay than the generic. So, her doctor writes the script for the name brand and checks the box "DO NOT SUBSTITUTE." On 2 separate occasions I have dropped off the prescription only to come back and find they filled it with the generic. Last time, I even pointed out to the tech when I dropped it off that it was written for name brand. They still filled it with generic. Yes, they corrected it both times when I pointed it out but that is not acceptable. I've had other problems as well. Do not recommend! read more

Unbelievably awful. The pharmacy department is the worst I have ever encountered. Nobody knows what they're doing. As soon as I see my doctor for a new refill I'm switching to walgreens. I've never had any problems with any medication refill ever at Walgreens. Conversely, there has always been some type of issue with everything I have ever filled at CVS. Walgreens is further from my house, but definitely worth the drive in order to avoid he hassle. Don't go here unless your looking for a headache. read more

If you are looking for a pharmacy that consistently screws up, tells your your order is ready when it is not, and promises to call your doctor for a refill and never does (but lies and tells you they did) - This is your kind of pharmacy!!! Like most Americans, I have been going to pharmacies to pick up occasional prescribed medication for the better part of my life. At most pharmacies, as it should be, this is a pretty simple process. This CVS, though, looks for new and entertaining ways to complicate matters for you - just when you are feeling at your worst! I have never in my life experienced such difficulty with a pharmacy until I started going to this CVS 2 years ago. Their incompetence is truly unbelievable. I honestly question that anyone there is actually a trained, licensed pharmacist. I am transferring all of my prescriptions to another pharmacy, and will not be returning here. read more

OMG ! The incompetence at this pharmacy is incredible. Dropped 2 prescriptions off on Sunday afternoon, they said it would be ready in an hour. Dinner took longer than expected, pharmacy was closed by the time we got back. Went Monday after work to pick up 2 prescriptions. Finally got to the counter only 1 was ready. Pharmacist said he had a problem reading the mg and the doctor wrote the date wrong. He said he called the doctor's office and they wanted him to fax over prescription so they could see it, he faxed and was still waiting for a response. I called doctor's office they never received fax, they asked what time it was faxed over. The pharmacist said about 4:00. HE HAD IT ALL DAY AND WAITED UNTIL 4:00 ????? Really ???? Pharmacist then refaxed, and doctor's office responded. There were 2 pharmacists and 3 techs behind the counter at this time. There were no other customers waiting in the store for prescriptions by now. 5 people behind counter, I left after 20 min. My blood boiling. Called them from my cell phone and told them I was going to transfer to a different CVS. The tech told me that it was ready right after I walked out. Really ??? So you had the prescription ALL DAY but waited until 4:00 pm to try and contact doctor. When everything finally gets straightened out, instead of filling the prescription ASAP, you make me wait another 20 min and don't say a word to me about how long it will take. 5 PEOPLE !!!!! Avoid this CVS at all costs !! I could have asked before I left, but my blood pressure was up and I didn't want to create a scene. It truly only deserves a half star for the drive thru. The only person that had any sense was a tech named Manny, and he quit. I wonder why ........ read more
