Let me preface this with the fact that I'm from California and I have somewhat high expectations when it comes to customer service. Nonetheless, I think there should be a call for basic respect and courtesy for the customer when working in any form of retail or service industry. To set the scene, it was a freezing winter night in NYC around 10pm. Friends and co-workers around me were dropping like flies from some sort of nasty cold. I needed something past to protect my immunity before yet another flight across country. I spied the 24 hour CVS and decided to run in and grab a few Emergen-C packets and a bubble water. After roaming around the store a few times, looking in all the usual places, I still could not find what I was looking for. So, I approached the cashiers. Three people were standing around behind the registers, two men talking (rather inappropriately I might add...I don't need to hear your private convo riddled in racial slurs and f-bombs when I'm trying to buy some vitamins) and one women (literally, no joke, filing her nails)...and so the conversation ensues... Me: Excuse me, do you guys carry individual Emergen-C vitamin packets in this store? **blank stares and one eye roll** Me: You know, with vitamin C and you mix it with water? They usually have them at the register or in the travel medications.... Male Cashier #1: Yeah, I think we have it around somewhere (and back to his bro-mance with Male cashier #2 dropping N and F bombs) Me: Great, could you tell me where I might find it? I walked through the pharmacy and didn't see it. Maybe I was staring right at it (followed by polite giggle...I am so California for these people) Female cashier: Yeah maybe in the pharmacy (never looked up, still filing nails) Me: Right....well like I said, I didn't see it Female cashier: **grunts** huh Me: Well maybe one of you could show me? Take me to where they might be? All cashiers: (mumbling various excuses) We can't leave the cash registers etc Me: Well can ANYONE help me at all? All cashiers: (random excuses continue) Me: I have to say this is the worst customer service I have ever received at a CVS pharmacy...or anywhere in fact. I would never be treated this way at home in California. I'm going to take my business elsewhere (and I left my other items on the desk) Male Cashier #2: (screams) Welcome to New York baby! (high fives male cashier #1) Wow...I'm so impressed by tomorrow's generation. This was a scene straight from the PopCopy skit from the Dave Chappelle show. Was this for real? Was I being Punk'd? Absolutely worst pharmacy service. Don't come here if you value your time. They'll completely ignore you and are extremely rude when they do talk to. It's as if they're doing you a favor by recognizing your existence. Take a long time to get anything done whether pickups or flu shots. read more

Great customer service. Came in for a booster vaccine and ended up buying some skincare stuff too. Shoutout to Dr. Quilty for her top notch bedside manner! She made me feel totally at ease despite my fear of needles and kept me entertained with her great stories. She gave some great tips on how to stay distracted from the injection. She even let me in early because the prior patient was a no show, which was great, because the only thing I don't like about this place is the long wait times for the walk in minute clinic. The staff here were really friendly and always tried to make sure I got to where I needed to be, accommodating my request for oil free foundation and even providing me with a few beautifully packaged samples for CVS Beauty Day. read more

I had the most horrible experience this past weekend at this CVS location, store #7019 with Carol, Cashier #1545989. It was after midnight and I had to make a make-up purchase to use for an important meeting. This location relies mostly on their self-serve check-out, especially the late night shifts when there's limited staff. I went equipped with coupons and extra bucks but the machine wouldn't take them so this man, who I assumed was the manager, pulled Carol from her shelf re-stocking duty to do my check-out. She looked extremely annoyed and kept sighing and making faces when I asked questions. Not wanting to end my night badly, I simply wished her goodnight and drove home. I live over an hour away from this location. I checked out at 1:04am so it was after 2am when I realized she did not bag my make-up. Instead, I went home with my impulse buys - 75% markdowns on holiday items. I called at 2:10am. No answer. I finally got Carol on the line at 2:27am where she greeted my call with "are you the lady with the make-up? I'm so sorry. I have it here." At least she was apologetic, right? However, I wasn't going to be around the store's vicinity for another week (I assumed) and so I asked if she could either mail it to me or better yet, if possible, could she call my local CVS and see if they could give me my items instead. Carol seemed very distracted on the phone as I could hear someone talking to her. She told me that they absolutely will not mail out my items but that she would ask her manager if the local CVS option could be done. I gave her my phone number and email address. She promised to call back but didn't. The next day, I got called in to work so I took the opportunity to call the store to see if I could just pick it up but Joelle the manager said that she knew nothing about this and can't just give me make up because I said so. My voice must have raised a bit but I definitely wasn't yelling. She threatened to hang up on me and indeed she did! I called again and she did the same. I went to the store and she told me that she was not going to lose her "career" over something as small as a $20 make up purchase. I asked if there was anyone above her that I could talk to and she said "no. I'm the manager and I can easily walk away from you right now and this problem of yours will go unresolved." I told her I would be calling the customer service line and she said "go ahead. Do it." What kind of company is CVS to not empower their high tier management staff and allow them to resolve issues with their loyal customers? She implied that I could be lying because she looked at the camera and saw that I was handed 2 bags. That Carol gave me everything I paid for. Seriously? I would go to this much trouble to steal 2 L'Oréal foundations, wasting my coupons and extra bucks, just to steal? Why? Why would I pay, use coupons, waste time and energy just to lie about not getting them? *update* I called customer service. Was promised the General Manager, Tarick Ali would call me within 2 hours. When I didn't get any calls 4 hours later, I called back. A few hours more, I finally got a call from a nice lady named Kim. Now I'm on my way to meet the daytime store manager Alex and finally be able to get what I paid for! CVS, you almost lost me! Someone needs to teach Carol and Joelle how to treat their customers with respect. I don't normally rate chain stores like this, but I want to give a shout out to the kind employee who helped me today. I wish I had gotten his name, but I think he was a manager. I had just come from a doctor's appointment and was looking for a knee brace. I was in pain due to the knee injury and he was just so lovely and helpful--he even helped me figure out which size brace would work for me. I have spent 15 minutes wandering Duane Reade stores with no help in sight, so this was an awesome change for me, especially given the fact that I was hobbling around. Update as of 2/25/20- I read several people had pharmacy issues here at this location in reviews below. I discovered CVS pharmacy at 47th and 3rd which is a lot more professional. Just wanted to extend an tip to go only 5 blocks up for professional treatment and appropriate behavior. Original review- This is a big time problem pharmacy. If my previous review is not enough, head pharmacist Naz had been harassing me monthly about the tiniest prescription I am on. He says he has to "control" me. Meanwhile I take the exact dose every night. I am well controlled I would say and I have a doctor. Last month's escapade was that he told me he had only a ten day supply for me and that he doesn't have my brand that I am approved for in full. Meanwhile my brand is common as I hear it. He asked if I can call my doctor for another prescription for the rest of the twenty days so he can order the remainder. I said sure of course. He even asked if I would pay out of pocket for another brand. He's testing to see how addicted I was to the medication. I said no, I am not paying out of pocket. After a long and embarrassing discussion, he said he found an extra bottle in the back and filled entire prescription then (note this conversation is in front of other staff and people) but told me I have to call him prior to monthly pick up date so he can order and have my brand in stock. So I had United Healthcare call for me this month. Normally the healthcare company is the issue but the pharmacist is now? He gave them a runaround telling them he doesn't know if he'll have it when I come in. It can't be pre-ordered. So he talks in circles. He asked for a reminder phone call only to say it can't be pre-ordered. This is only this month's crazy. He made up another reason to give me a hard time last month saying I have to come in exactly on the 30 day time when I run out of medication. Meanwhile they told me at checkout counter an earlier date for pickup which made me to look like I was doing something wrong when coming in earlier. As little as the amount of medication I am on, I need it. So if not in stock I am in trouble and if I don't get it on that exact 30 day mark, I have nothing at home to spare. Just feel he is a troubled person and I don't need this constant worry every month and made up stories about one thing or another. So I am now switching pharmacies to a place more professional hopefully. United Healthcare found another place for me so fingers crossed, I will be rid of manager Naz at CVS 150 E. 42nd, NYC forever. read more

I had to get a TB test a little while back for employment purposes, and thus came to this location to get it done. I was waiting for hours before they finally called me in. It took a better part of a day. The time estimates are completely inaccurate and the healthcare professionals are far from accommodating. Aside from the abysmal service, the location is great, and that's about all this CVS has going for it. If you're coming in for any of the pharmacy's services, go somewhere else. read more

Until stumbling this CVS store in Murray Hill of East 42nd Street Where I conveniently access the Number 4, 5, 6 Trains at Grand Central My search was over for the product is in stock This CVS pharmacy retailer appears to have been recently open or renovated as there is very bright lighting and ample floor space. To my surprise there are three self-service checkout kiosk counters for time saving. Hesitantly I decided to utilize these self-serve checkout kiosk to save time waiting on the long winding queue. This CVS is priced higher than other CVS's. There were no signage on the machine of where to put CVS store coupons; no signage of where to put cash for payment and/or where change is received. The dude who assisted me gave me this very rude scowl look as I need "How to Use Self-Service Checkout Kiosks-- For Dummies." I repeated in several verbiage: "dude, there is no signs of the machine of where to put CVS store coupons; no signage of where to put cash for payment and/or where change is received. So how would patrons know where to put what and where to receive change? Dude, do not assume what you think people should know!!" This was my third CVS yeterday looking for clip-on sunglasses. Since I have prescription glasses I needed the clip-ons to replace the ones lost at Queens Pride this last weekend. They had them for my eyeglasss shape. There was a bit of a line so the manager kept calling for the customers to go to the cashier in the photo department as well when that cashier was free. That's where I ended up. The cashier asked if I had my ExtraCare card which I did. She scanned it then scanned my purchase. I had a $10 gift card for CVS so I used that towards my purchase. I love this location. I am surprised to read so many negative ratings. I have been here often - the pharmacy staff is lovely. Once I had a prescription phoned in that was not covered by my insurance...they called me to see if I okayed it. A few minutes they called back to let me know they tried putting it in another way (not through my insurance) - and they saved me almost $100. The phone reminders are helpful. The woman who gave me my flu & shingles vaccine was so clear and informative. I once remember not being able to find an over the counter medicine; one of the staff members looked with me for a full five minutes until we found it. I like the combo of self checkout registers and live cashiers. Since Covid hit, there is often someone near the door to open and close it for you so you don't have to handle it personally. This is strictly a review about the MINUTE CLINIC at this location. I've never felt so compelled to write a review but this is my 2nd time using CVS Minute Clinic, the 1st being at Columbus Circle. The service provided by Dcotor Heather T. was amazing. I kind of wish that she was my regular primary care physician. I came in to check up on a symptom that I was feeling and she was patient and thorough during my visit. The wait time was minimal. I was hesitant with using Minute Clinic, borderline scared but after my 2 visits I can say that you should come here or other Minute Clinics instead of other stand alone clinics. Where I had to climb down a broken escalator to get to the things that people actually go into pharmacies for.. Employees talking to each-other. Ignoring me. Looked at me like I was from outer space when I asked if they sell co-wash. Anyway. Went to a hair salon. They sent me to CVS. This CVS is so nice inside. Basically all the CVS stores are pretty similar so just going to express some thanks to those in the Pharmacy for saving me a huge hassle. Apparently, I left my ID behind while making a payment. They called my phone and left me a message, and that's a kindness. Before I discovered this, I discovered that my driver's license was not in my wallet and imagined I dropped it somewhere after I left. Or it slid down behind something when I was putting my stuff in my bag never to be seen again... who knows? I don't know why I didn't take my ID back, but I know they held it for me overnight and I got it seconds after I walked up to the counter. That's organization (on their part, not mine). Whew. I don't usually rate chains or drug stores but it's worth noting a few things about this location in particular. The customer service reps are ready to answer your questions about where items are located, and with a smile. The merchandising team does an amazing job of making sure that all items are clearly represented and easy to grab, and so making it easier for you to carry to the check out aisle. Product display is so important because most drug stores tend to throw similar items together and just push merchandise to the floor in a prop it up and clock out my shift is over kind of way but everything is visible and carefully placed for display on their shelves. Because even though I go to drug stores for needed items, I love picking up novelty items and things I didn't know I need. The little jar of creme brulee Vaseline was too cute and I would have missed it if it weren't for some clever use of the hanging display. The entire store is brightly lit and clean, too - no weird smells or random garbage on the floor. And the aisles are spacious, making it easier for you to browse and without bumping in to other customers along the way. And this store is 24 hours!! read more

Then the Tech looked at me and saw I was in pain and she called right on the spot and got my Medication for me. Katherina is a person who gets the job done. Need more of her. This CVS is the best I've ever been to. It's huge! They have basic groceries and a large cosmetics section. The pharmacy techs have always been friendly and efficient. The store is open 24 hours and they also have self checkout machines which are really nice. I live closer to two other CVS stores but walk farther to visit this one because it is so much better. I've never used a minute clinic before, but needed to get a Strep test. Walked in, saw a Nurse Practicioner in about 2 minutes and then she wrote a prescription, and 5 minutes after that I had it filled and was walking out. I don't think I've ever had such a great medical experience (and I have seen some good doctors). She was patient and warm and helpful. It was everything it should be. Quick. Thorough. And I was back to work. I highly recommend it. read more

I spent there around 5 mins. During that time 4 sales associates approached me asking if I needed help. No, I was not looking around like I was searching for anything or anyone. I knew what i needed and went straight to the aisles, picked it, and went to the self checkout register. Earlier today I was choosing a nail polish, tampons and a drink and not even looking at sales associates. Four MALE sales associates asked me if I needed help. No, no, no! Thanks. If I need help, I'll ask for it. So annoying.... and it is not the first time I had this experience in that store. I think most of people who shop at CVS expect sales associates to BE AVAILABLE to help if needed, not following the customers in store and offering help. This is such a terrible pharmacy. The customer service is appalling and it takes forever to fill prescriptions. I recently switched to another pharmacy called Park Imrat, which refills and delivers prescriptions without a hitch. They also have a stock of coupons on file which they automatically apply to whatever prescription you have. Don't bother with CVS pharmacy. They consistently mess up and will make your life a living hell. read more

I go here just because it's close to work, but the pharmacists are the rudest, least helpful people I have ever met. They messed up my prescription and then tried blaming me. They incorrectly wrote my insurance, again blaming me. Then didn't inform me my prescription expired and I had to speak to two people to get the story straight. Going to the Duane Reade a block further just so I don't have to have these people ruin my day every time I fill a prescription. read more

Ordered a 5X7 photo online and went to local CVS in Hicksville to pick up. They advertise 5X7 but the actual photo is printed on a 6X8 photo paper. It will not fit into a 5X7 frame. Clerk tried to tell me I was wrong and went to the aisle to get a frame. Photo did not fit. They offered to give money back but how ridiculous is that. read more
