Great customer service despite what crawled in the door! Your employees are the best!

Not sure what was happening a year ago, but I came for my seasonal flu shot and found this store to be clean, well stocked and organized, and with highly competent and friendly pharmacy staff (and if you need your seasonal flu shots, definitely come here - this was the least painful one I've ever had, and scheduling is super easy online/via app). TIP: Always check the GoodRx app for prescriptions - even with insurance it's sometimes cheaper, and might be cheaper at another location. read more

*11 people in line @ 7:20 p.m.. One cashier.. 31 minute wait for one prescription. One patron was calling family members to pick up all their prescriptions while with at the cashier. They may want to establish a time limit. Extra staff loading prescriptions could have stepped in.. The one pharmacist who is quick to step in to help wasn't there tonight and it showed. Probably 'result of Rite Aid folding but CVS could be more sensitive to the increase of patrons and their staff. read more

Pharmacist Johann recently transferred from Rite Aid to CVS (as did I, Rite Aid being my previous lifelong default pharmacy) and I could not be more relieved knowing that I will be able to continue service for the time being with the most remarkably superior utmost ideal pharmacist I've ever solicited service from in any setting. Kind, hard working, dependable, patient, efficient and intelligent people like Johann deserve honest 5 star reviews like this one everywhere they go. The other employees I delt with directly and indirectly over the phone and through the CVS app were incredibly kind and showed the same cast down due diligence that Johann examples. As of right now I highly recommend this pharmacy. Special shout out to Maria (pharmaceutical technician) who was fantastically kind and did everything under Johann's supervision as perfect as anyone could have with bonus points for her strength in interpersonal communication and efficiency. read more

This This CVS is wonderful. You walk in everything is spaced out nicely. Everything is well organized, shelves are stocked and the establishment is clean. Play greet you as you walk in the door the smile on their faces. Prices are higher than going to big box stores but that is a drugstore for you. The prices are going to be higher at these types of places no matter which one you go to. This CVS is great to go when you need some thing in a pinch whether it is Band-Aids, magazines for the beach, poor medication. Didn't see too many employees on the floor but if you need assistance the people at the register are always happy to help. They know exactly where everything is in their store and can lead you in the right direction. Will definitely come back to the CVS when I am in the area. read more

I sent in a document to be printed early afternoon had a confirmation email that it should be ready by 4:55 and that I would receive an email once it was printed. I never got any email and tried to call the store around 8 PM, but the phone number only linked to the pharmacy and I could not reach anyone. I went to pick up my document after work around 9:05 PM since the confirmation email said it would be ready by 4:55 PM and was told upon arrival that they had to cancel the document because document printing " weirds out the machine". If that is the case, then I feel that the store should have contacted me directly or not allow documents to be sent through in the first place. I had never received any email telling me about the cancellation. A lot of people don't have printing capabilities and rely on services such as these to be reliable and their stores to be good at communicating. I needed that document before 8 AM tomorrow and now I am out of luck. I understand that technology doesn't always work correctly. However, I also understand that it is 100% possible to communicate with customers and not just randomly cancel orders without telling them and then not apologizing/showing annoyance and indifference when I ask why I wasn't notified about the cancellation. I've worked in a variety of customer service jobs, and I could never imagine treating someone with such indifference or being OK with my business's website not communicating that document printing isn't available, or being OK with my business not notifying when a project gets canceled. It would be very embarrassing to me. Communicate with your customers. update your website. notify when things get canceled. Do better. read more

What a shame that Rite Aid went out of business. Now we all must drive to Walgreens in Santa Maria. This CVS is typical of all CVS locations. Understaffed, and even worse, all the staff who are there are incompetent, ignorant, lazy, careless. Customer service?? What's that??? We arrived for vaccine appointments and were misdirected time and time again. Forty minutes after our appointment time, we left. We drove to the CVS on Grand Avenue to try our luck. Ha! There was a 15+ person line waiting at the "pharmacy" as CVS calls it. At both the Oak Park and Grand Avenue CVS locations, there are always long checkout lines, and the self-serve checkout stations are rarely working. The inventory is messily slopped onto selves, and questions are never answered. For us poor customers, these conditions will only get worse as CVS competitors are driven into bankruptcy or just give up trying to compete while doing business honorably. Vote for Walgreens (the only local competitors still standing) with your dollars! read more

Great service from pharmacy staff. Jason, pharmacist, went above and beyond the call of duty to fill a prescription for us late night Friday near closing. He didn't have to, but he went the extra mile. Grateful for the pharm techs as well...Julie always has a kind smile and is a consummate professional, as is Amy, and two others (I forget their names). Great pharmacy staff. Well stocked store. My critique though is the store smells very funky. Like a diaper full of Indian food. It has been that way ever since they remodeled the store. Before the remodel, it was just a normal smell. I theorized that maybe the carpet glue they used was gross and the smell would dissipate, but no luck. It's been years since the remodel, it still makes me clench every time I walk in. read more

After posting a prior negative post I am regretting that and need to make a correct review. Country wide there is a shortage of pain medication & diabetic medication. This is NOT the pharmacy's fault but the manufacturer. The staff works non stop from calls from patients and doctor's offices asking if they have received their order. Hundreds of calls a day! I had a long talk with Josh-the pharmacist who took the time and explained why they have the Brand name @ $184.00 for 15 tablets but not a single Generic RX. I don't know about you but I have great insurance and it doesn't matter. So PLEASE do not call them or the doctors office. Call the company that makes the medication!!! I wish CVS provided the service of bubble wrapping their medications for people who live in Assisted Living facilities. This service is greatly needed in this area. My mom's insurance has CVS Pharmacy as the preferred pharmacy. That means that the medication would be free to my mother. My mom pays for a supplemental. So now we are stuck with a pharmacy who charges. That really sucks for those who are in need. read more

Someone call the authorities!!! I don't know what needs to be done here but I consider this issue a national EMERGENCY. The stench in this store is unbearable. It smells like dying baby shrimp in here. Like the entire store. EVERY TIME. When you walk through the glass sliders it just hits you like a ton of bricks. A thourough floor to ceiling search is in order to see what is causing this offensive odor. Surely somewhere in the attic or basement you will discover crates of decomposing sea creatures or fermented toe nail clippings... Please, I beg you!! My nostrils beg you!!!! 3 stars because parking is easy and plenty. The store is usually well stocked and I haven't personally experienced painfully long waits at this location. read more

Worst CVS I've ever encountered. The store's carpet looks to have NEVER been cleaned as the pattern of the aisle carpet is obscured by a thick layer of grime. The smell of the place is offensive. Just like the carpet, I doubt the AC system has been cleaned in years. Where is the city health inspector. The people who work there need better working conditions! read more

Usually CVS Pharmacies are very helpful and willing to go above and beyond to help their customers. Well, not this one!! Most of the pharmacy staff seemed pissed off that they had to work. They were unfriendly and unhelpful. Because they couldn't or maybe didn't want to take the time to find my insurance info, they wanted me to pay $60 for my medications. I bought the cheapest one and left. I will not shop or use their services again!!! read more

It took all I had to NOT ask the clerk where the cat was. What cat, you ask? The cat that had pissed all over this store. That's what the store smelled like. As though a giant panther had taken up residence in the ceiling and used the carpeting as its own private litterbox location, for like, YEARS. It was pervasive. It was intense. Oakpark in Pismo. ZERO stars. Go to a different CVS. It's like they purposely do everything possible to fark up your order, don't even try to do a good job. I just got my order of prescription eye drops delivered and the package is shoddily taped over the opening because the inside package does not fit inside and is sticking out. Is it too much to use a bigger bag? apparently. I guess if you tape over it that makes it ok that my eyedrops are sticking out of the bag. Never mind all the other crap they do wrong or just don't do at all....like a good job done with pride. Go to a different CVS. read more

I have. even a customer for years. a few hic-ups now & then. so much to my disappointment I now have been on hold 8 minutes. Did you know they have caller ID from your phone number? I have a RX that is written for 15 days. Last week was my refill. So I went online & called. I was told it would be ready on Thursday after 2:00pm. I went to the store and was told this med was on back order and they would order it. I called Sat-no shipment. I called on Sunday and was told they only had 15 tabs in stock. So I asked if I could take those since I was out. I was told no to c/b Monday. I spoke to Josh and again no shipment. I asked if I could have a partial r/f he said NO he already gave them to someone else. Basically I was forced to pay out of pocket 193.03 for the NON GENERIC med. I was also told by my doctors office it is now up to the pharmacist who gets priority. Still on hold....filing a formal complaint.... read more

They are getting new and nicer cashiers here. Today, there was a tall young woman (Camille?) with purple hair that was cheerful, helpful and seems genuinely nice. I'm so glad to see a nice person for once that doesn't seem to be a grim reaper. Their system keeps slowing things down but she was kind and took care to try to get my discounts to ring up by trying all my different phone numbers until it finally made the prices lower. I cannot stand all these details just to get a decent price. I like this CVS better than the one on Grand because the Grand Avenue one has so much filth on the sidewalks and overflowing trash cans and creepy bums out front. I changed my prescriptions to this location and so far, it is better in this CVS than the Grand Avenue one. read more

I just read the most recent SLO County restaurant health inspections and felt compelled to post a comment. First off, it states it is for the pharmacy?? I didn't know they served food in the pharmacy?? Second, how in the name of all that is good and right, can a food inspector walk into that CVS and make it 5 feet without being gagged by the smell? It is the most offensive smell, like an open sewer. I feel so sorry for the poor employees having to work in that environment. When I mentioned it to the cashier he said inspectors from both the City and CVS management have investigated the smell, yet done nothing about it? BTW, this has been going on for over 2 years!! Thankfully I live in SLO so don't have to frequent the CVS...come on now, fix the smell!! read more

Manager ROBERT should be fired or trained on customer service. I had gone to 4 different CVS stores looking for an arthritis cream for my leg and I finally found it. At this store in AG, the manager walked by me at least twice and never acknowledged me or asked if I need help. Mind you, I was walking very slowly and showing signs of pain. When I had given up and walking toward the exit. The manager was there and I asked him where to find the item. He told me two places at the back of the store where it "might" be. Again I was obviously in a lot of pain and knew I barely had enough energy to walk back to my car. He didn't offer to help or get help for me, and had the look of "don't bother me." I decided to use my energy to walk back to my car. I'm very disappointed that CVS would have such a horrible store manager. read more

I live down the street and frequent this location often. The cashiers are always nice and courteous buuuuut today, I must say- the sewer line in this building needs to be Checked out! A family member had recently mentioned the porta-potty stench of CVS, and I never knew what they were talking about. Until... today. I walked in and a wave of poo poo aroma hit me in the FACE. I'm pretty sure I contracted pink eye from just being in the building. Came home and burned my clothes. Knocked two stars off for that. Its a CVS. Are they the perfect pharmacy? Perfect medical supply store. Well no. BUT they are big, clean, safe, nearby, well staffed, seemingly always open, they're never out of anything i need. Pharmacists& techs are competent & responsive. Ive had several vaccines here...super easy processes. Thats it! They have systems in place, they know & work the systems & its a fairly smooth running machine! The pharmacy pick up window often has a bit of a line but its never awful. And I've been to OTHER pharmacies that are consistently bad. Including bad management & surly unhelpful staff. This Oak Park CVS has great personnel. They have tons of staff in the pharmacy....many local pharmacies have only one or two staff. I went through 2 cvs locations, walmart, vons & a Walgreens pharmacy. Im happy to drive a bit further to come to THIS CVS for their service, quality, ease of use. Plus close to my doctors office & california fresh! definitely recommend. PS ... i don't know details of their loyalty programs but i end up with around $15/month in shopping rewards plus random $2 or 20% off coupons here & there. These add up! read more

The lines to pick up medications are gotten unbelievably long and wait time is ridiculous. I do not know what has changed other than a remodel, something needs to change. Please hire additional staff. I will mention this to both my healthcare provider as well as my employer and insurance. read more

I went in to find out if they carried a certain item & the girl cashier saw me, didn't acknowledge me at all after she finished talking with someone she knew. She totally ignored me as if I wasn't there....rude...rude ..rude! If you hate your job so much don't work in customer service! read more

Great customer service in the pharmacy , answered so many questions and were very patient and helpful

Customer service up front remains spotty, depending on who you get and time of day. No lines this time (rare), and the two cashiers were very polite and accommodating for my admittedly small purchase of a cold remedy. This visit gained a star because the customer service went out of their way to double check pricing for the product. Unfortunately, the posted price and computer price were different, and I paid a higher price than advertised. I will chalk it up to customer or stock person error as there was two higher priced products ahead of one lower priced product in the same place on the shelf. Whether due to personal or corporate policy, the manager said he couldn't price adjust for the error. Minor inconvenience, as it was a dollar difference, and they secured the sale anyway, but my experience would (perhaps too obviously) been better had they put forward a small gesture. Either way, will likely go elsewhere for better, more consistent pricing on OTC products, but this visit customer service was pretty decent and no lines. read more

***HEADS UP!*** I picked up a Rx for my daughter last night, and when we got it home, she realized that we were given the WRONG PILLS! All of CVS's attached paperwork was correct, but the pills were not what she was prescribed. They were nice and very apologetic today when I returned them, but I have to say that my confidence in them has been shattered. I can't help but wonder how often this happens? And what if someone doesn't notice? Yikes. You had one job, CVS Pharmacy. I realize that human error is real, but that's why companies put redundancies in place to prevent mistakes like this. Christine Oh and Brian Tsai are on par with the best pharmacist I've ever had, Grace Kim, Culver City Store #17595. I always receive exceptional service from them. Today, Glinda provided the best customer service that I have ever received at a grocery/pharmacy! She was attentive, polite, and friendly! She checked to make sure that all my coupons/discounts were applied after purchase. She greeted each customer as they entered the store and thanked each customer upon leaving the register. read more

I switch from CVS pharmacy on Grand in Arroyo Grande because they have a female that looks Asian who is the worst pharmacist I have ever encountered. She is rude, slow, and requires extra paperwork that other pharmacies do not require and it is not even a law. She said it was her rules. If you don't have the extra paperwork she requires, she will not give you your prescription that your physician wrote and was approved by your insurance. I ended up taking the same prescription on the same day to The CVS in Pismo and I received my prescription that day with in an hour. This pharmacy is a complete 180 from the other pharmacy. They are courteous and respectful. They don't have any extra rules or paperwork in order to obtain your prescription. read more

There is something I hate about CVS, it could be the dirty store carpet (note to CVS corporate, California is not New England and people aren't going to slip on tile walking in from the snow). I've never used the pharmacy. It always feels like they never have enough cashiers, usually only the same one guy who does a decent enough job, maybe two if you're lucky. It seems like there are always lines here. I don't encounter this problem at the Pismo Rite Aid, where they are quick to open registers if need be. Bring back Longs Drugs! read more
