This review is mainly for the pharmacy section. I used to love to come here for prescription. With 3 people in the household with 3-4 monthly medication each, you can tell how often I have to come here. All the Pharmacists and Techs were friendly and knowledgeable. They helped me straighten things out with insurance, doctor offices, coupons from drug companies. I know most of the tech (from their name tags) and they were very efficient with prescription pickup. The line was long sometimes, but they had all 3 lines opened and moved through very fast. But it seems to change in the last 2-3 months or so. I saw all new faces, except a couple of pharmacists still there. And the services are awful, way below what I normally received before. I wonder where all the old techs move to, presumably still within CVS in San Jose. I wouldn't mind driving a little farther, but get much better service. read more

Avoid this CVS Pharmacy at all costs. You will sit there for at least an hour, have them call you up and then realize you have 2 more prescriptions under your name and make you wait another 25 minutes. This was by far one of the least organized Pharmacies I have been to. Only positive is it's 24 hours. read more

Small version of CVS. This used to be the old Longs. Everything looks the same as it was before except for the sign. This CVS is still the neighborhood pharmacy. They do have a huge liquor aisle from wines to hard liquors. If you get their advertisements in the mail you can get deep discounts with Jack Daniels and Tequilas. Staff here is not bad they say hello to you when you come in the store. They're right off Berryessa near Capitol and very convenient access from the freeway. read more

I can't say the customer service is super great, nor can I say they suck. It's better when you go late at night. The staff (middle aged people) is super nice, and they deserve three stars for that. Other than that, its basically a small little convenient store. Before CVS, it was Longs Drugs. Loved it better as Longs Drugs. Anyways, it gets super busy here during 2 pm. I came here yesterday and asked for help looking for a product and one of the employees (a girl) just looked at me.. And said "I don't know what you're talking about." I have a love/hate relationship with this location. I love CVS and their sales. They always have 50%-75% off on a lot of goodies. I am a fan of getting extra care bucks. I like getting coupons from the scanning my card on the machine. I like getting a million coupons after my checkout. I like getting points for bringing in my own bag. Overall, I've always liked CVS and is a loyal customer...however...their RX here...ehh. The first time I came here to drop off a prescription damn the line was long. They said come back in 30 mins to pick up....long ass line....when I came back it still wasn't ready.... The item wasn't covered by insurance so I asked them to fax the doctor the other one which is covered by insurance. They said ok they faxed the doctor but later when I came back they said there was nothing there. What?? Did you even fax the doctor?? Ugh... So I ended up paying for the original item out of pocket cuz I didn't want to wait anymore. Whenever I go up to the drop off counter I always have to wait. I see a million people working and I'm just standing there waiting for help. At least say I'll be with you in a minute that way I won't feel like I'm being ignored... So the first time was annoying cuz they said they faxed the doctor but I don't know if they really did...The second time was better cuz I was in the system already but had to give them the insurance info again and didn't wait too too long... The third time was better cuz it was all ready for me after the doctor sent in the fax. I was shocked to get a voicemail letting me know the RX was ready for pick up because the other times I had to come in and ask for it and wait. But this time they called me twice. I finally came to pick it up and was still in shock it was ready for me cuz the first and second time were pretty horrible. But I guess it gotten better. I guess I will come back here. They keep it in their bin for 14 days so that's cool you have plenty of time to pick if up if you're busy. Back to the store, CVS is hella expensive their everyday retail prices but they have good sales every week so I recommend buying stuff only when its on sale and look for 50-75% off stuff cuz I always see lots of goodies! read more

I normally head here at night and for some reason each time I go there, there's alway a long line! They only have 1-2 register open and I'm not happy if I have to wait 10-15 mins in line. There's always a line at the pharmacy as well and for some reason they never have my order ready when they say it suppose to be ready! I normally have my doctors call or fax in my order for me and pick it up late at night when its less busy during the day. read more

Per my medical coverage I had to change Drug stores for my prescription renewals. I've been to the CVS Pharmacy on Berryessa Rd 5x and truthfully speaking I am not pleased. I renew my prescriptions via CVS' mobile application at lease 3 days in advance. When I arrive at the pharmacy, I'm always told my prescription is not ready, it will take 10 minutes to refill and my name will be called. CVS is batting a 1000 and I usually have to wait 30-45 minutes without hearing my name called. I literally walk up to the counter express my disappointment, to deaf ears and I might add and within minutes my prescription is presented to me. I've talked to management put to no avail. CVS Pharmacy customer services in pseudo professional to say the least. Perhaps it will change. I am a patient person but even patient people have their limits. read more

Seniors....NEVER use the minute clinic! The charge $99 for a simple sinus infection and Medicare pays $16. Secondary insurance pays nothing!!! I went there because I thought it would be faster than getting an appointment with my doctor. Big mistake. They gave me 4 days if an antibiotic - and we all know you need 10 days! I ends up being bilked $82, and I had to go back to my doctor for more antibiotics because the infection didn't go a away! While I am here, I might as well review the store. The pharmacy techs know nothing! Every time I go, there is s new crew! The homeless use the bathrooms and they are disgusting! read more

My doctor faxed in two prescriptions to the pharmacy of this store. However, once I arrived to pick up my medicines, I figured the medicine would cost me less at a Rite Aid. The staff member told me to have Rite Aid call them to transfer over the prescription. When Rite Aid called CVS at 4:30p, they were told that they would need to fax in their request instead. Rite Aid complied with this request and marked the fax as urgent and called them two additional times. By 7:00pm, I still didn't have the medicine I needed because CVS wouldn't comply with the simple request of faxing over my prescriptions. It was only after I called at 7:20p to complain did Rite Aid finally receive the requested information. Furthermore, one of my prescriptions was not covered by my insurance at either stores. CVS wanted $14.99 for the exact same generic medication that Rite Aid sold me for $4.84. read more

Also twice now I've come in and my prescription isn't ready even though I got a confirmation saying that it was. It's really frustrating to wait in line for thirty minutes for nothing. read more

I'm so pissed off of how unorganized this pharmacy is. I was told by my Doctor that my prescription was sent here and I could pick it up whenever I had time. First, I was told nothing was sent to them, so they had me talk to the consultant. Second this consultant told me if I wanted it today I'd have to wait 15 min for my name to be called...15 min has passed so I walked up to the pharmacy to ask what's going on and they told me it still wasn't ready. Third, I waited another 5 min just to be told they didn't have my birth control in stock. WHAT THE FUCK?! What a waste of my time! There were about 8 of them working and not one of them could at least relay the message that they were out of my BC?! So inconvenient and inconsiderate!! read more

It took this place maybe 30 years to finally get a facelift, and I'm happy for them.. It's like one of your ugly friends finally getting a nose job, and you finally seeing the beauty that her boyfriend had been seeing for so long...and that you could never seem to see till that moment! Haha.. It's much more open now. I still kinda get lost because everything is completely flipped around, but in the event I need something in the middle of the night, they've never done me wrong. Although, to begin with, Long's (& Walgreen's) is expensive to begin with, so if you can, just go to Walmart, or something.. Their staff is really nice.. This used to be Longs and is now CVS, they've changed the layout a bit making it difficult for me to find things. I'm slow to adapt to change I guess. The staff here is usually super friendly and helpful. One time they even went so far as to take my name and number and call when a case of special baby formula I had a store coupon for came in. Yup, that's right, order me a case, hold it, call me and even honor the coupon of it expired before. NICE! That's service my friends. I had a tired hungry baby today, and had to pick up a couple prescriptions for my raging painful back and you could tell the pharmacy clerk was over it and a bit rude. We all have bad days though, maybe someone was mean to her earlier. This is the only place that I know that sells the Eagle brand fudge kit. That stuff is amazing! Makes it seem like you've spent hours cooking and preparing fudge, but it really only takes 5 mins max. This place also has a decent cosmetics section. Way better than Target. So, when I need my fix of drugstore makeup, I'll shop here for it. Plus, the place doesn't get packed so you get in and out fast. read more

Finally! This location has recently undergone renovations, and it looks like a whole new store! More up to date, like many other of the locations these days, and it's more 'shopper friendly'. Anyhow, I usually don't spend much time in any Long's just because Target has way better deals. But for convenience because Long's is right across the street, on occasion, I've had to go there. I may actually shop there more often just because it looks so shiny and new. Open 24 hours and the pharmacy is open until 12 am during the week. Bonus! read more

I have very mixed feelings about the pharmacy here. Pros: They are very efficient here and when I have problems with the insurance co, they are pretty good at contacting them. CONS: the staff, not the pharmacists, are very inconsistent. Especially the older Asian lady is always, always mean to me. Absolute WORST pharmacy I have ever been to. I would give them negative stars for poor customer service and wait time. Most specifically some middle aged Asian woman who picks up the phone. They kept me on hold for 25 minutes and when I said I was going to call Costco for them as a 3 way call she hung up on me. Luckily I was driving right by the place so I came in and she hid behind her counter and claimed she put me on hold. What a dumb B****. Learn how to use a phone or at least own up to it and apologize. The manager did nothing. He just they were very busy that night. Whatever! I'm NEVER going there again. The wait time for someone to pick up can be at least 20min up to 45min easily. It's the bane of my existence to refill my elderly parent's meds every 4-6 weeks. Two out of four staff is routinely nice, but the other two are consistently unfriendly and rude, which is strange because their job is customer service. They have little patience in explaining why certain insurance do not cover certain drugs. This is problematic because most elderly people, whose English language is not fluent and with limited income, need those explanations. You cannot expect normal laymen to know everything about drug coverages. The other two staff being nice is the only reason I give them ONE star. I try to avoid calling them by enrolling in the text refill system. The link they send thru text sometimes do not work (prompting you to call the pharmacy anyways). I work in the healthcare system and by far this particular CVS pharmacy is one of the worse I've dealt with. I'm obligated to stay with them bc my parent prefer their location being close to their home. I'm signing up to their online refill system and give another 3 months, if these issues occurring I'll convince my parent to consider somewhere else. If excessive wait time and 50% rude staff is what you prefer then this location would meet your needs...Hopefully they can consider additional service training (secret shopper to rank the staff?) or hire additional staff to answer calls to mitigate long wait time in the future. read more

I used to work in the pharmacy at a Longs in a different location. I've frequented the Berryessa Longs many times and what makes this one stick out more than most is their ethnic food selection. I love their Hawaiian section. Everytime I need a fix for Li Hing Moi, shortbread cookies or Hawaiian Sun drinks and I don't feel like going on a goose-hunt, I come here. Service wise, it's alright. Being a former employee, I know the standards, so I can't easily say it's been up to par. read more

Avoid this place and their unhelpful staff. Little to no training on customer service and product outcome. I placed an order for photos. Came back to pick up when ready. I have serious mobility issues, yet was forced to wait over 5 minutes by the photo counter after clerk directed me over there to wait for someone. She could have easily assisted me at that moment. There were no patrons in line, nor many people in the store at that time. I walk over and stand, waiting for an entirety it seems, due to my physical pains. Another worker says they'll be right with me after a couple minutes of waiting. I have no issue with that, as she's now helping another patron check out. She said she'll help right after this person is done. She doesn't. Tells me she'll help me after the next person. She doesn't. Finally, the other lady who initially told me to wait, comes and gets my photo order for me - when she could have done this from the moment I requested to pick up my order. I want to look at the photos to confirm they're okay, but she doesn't let me see them. She held on to them behind the counter. After checking out and paying - because by this time I need to get to my car and sit/rest - I'm finally able to view them. They completely botched my photo order, and printed them on oversized photo stock, and my order explicitly indicated specific size. read more

I am making a complaint on behalf of how your cashier tonight does not know how to fully do their job. My husband had to go to the store to get our baby formula using WIC, but he was unable to get it because who ever was working today the 18th at 10:30 pm does not know how to process a WIC check. Didn't even ask anyone for help if anyone else knew how. I'm just very displeased on how hard it is simply going to a store getting what you need, but not being able to get what you NEED because of your poor training. I love longs and have been a faithful shopper for years but my most recent experience with management has changed all of that. I was interview for a job and was drug tested. Manager said he would call me in a few days with my work schedule. Never got a call back and the manager never returned my calls. It would seem that if a company is going to take the time and money to drug test a prospective employee they would take the time to call them back, or return calls. This is my favorite CVS! Sometimes the customers are anal and take forever, but the cashiers are always nice to me and apologize when the customer in front of me is giving the cashier a hard ass time. I don't mind. I always come here to do liquor runs, and now I pick up my prescription meds here. The people in the pharmacy r very disinterested in serving you though, like the girl who helped me kept mugging the customers and was chipping nail polish off her nails. She looked like she really didn't wanna be there. Other than that the pharmacy closes late at midnight so that's a plus. They always have sales on make up stuff too, so if you come here drunk like me and my friend did one night you'll probably spend an hour staring at the make up shelf lmao. Also I remember one cashier being kinda salty with my friend. She only asked him if one item she was purchasing was on sale and he slid it through the scanner hella fast and said "SALE" then slid everything else and said "SALE...NO SALE...SALE...NO SALE" lmao he had a serious ass face on too like geez she only asked if one thing was on sale not her whole basket haha read more

It's open late at night, so I can get my Sudafed if I forget in the morning. However, it seems like a lot of people forget or get their prescriptions late at night here, so lines can be long. I haven't had any customer service issues here, and overall they have been professional. read more

This is the worst pharmacy ever. My optometrist gave me a prescription with a one-month free trial. I dropped off my prescription on a Friday night and explained to the guy on duty that I could pay using the card provided by the drug manufacturing company. He made a copy of the card and told me they would have to order it and should be ready on Monday. I called on Tues afternoon and the lady who answered the phone told me they couldn't find any record of this at all and they have to call the Dr to get the prescription again. Today, I received a text and said they need insurance approved and it would take 2 days. I asked them to check with the guy who was on duty on Friday night and they said they don't know and don't have a record of the shift schedule. This is unbelievable. I checked Walgreens and they have the eyedrops in stock, so I had to call my doctor and asked her to send the prescription over again. If you have a choice, don't go to their pharmacy. How can they lose a patient's prescription and couldn't find it? Are the staff don't even communicate with each other. It has taken too much time and stress just to get a simple prescription filled. I have had trouble with this pharmacy in the past but this is the worst experience yet. read more
