Bicycling was causing terrible piriformis pain due to a pinched nerve in my back. A bike shop in Orange county suggested I contact Dave. I liked Dave's approach; make an adjustment then ride for a few hours; reevaluate. Other fitters made many changes in one session so you don't know what works and what doesn't. Dave says fitting is an art and he gets you a fit which works for your style. He also stated my saddle was not something I should be using for my condition. I am a 71-year-old retired male and former runner. I took up cycling when I couldn't run anymore (July 2016). I have a bad case of OA and many joints that are not very functional. Knee and shoulder have been replaced and the remaining need replacement. I have had nerves deadened in my neck (facets) because of bone on bone. I had pain coming from everywhere. Dave accommodated me with my initial bike fit. I came back several times to make the final fine-tuned adjustments. It is amazing how Dave can make adjustments you cannot see (barely) or feel. From the moment you meet Dave you know your are in the room with someone who not only loves cycling but someone who cares about you and wants you to enjoy the sport and love it as much as he does. And to truly love it you need a bike that fits you properly. I had some lower back pain and wrist pain and he adjusted my seat and handlebars and made several recommendations on improvements to the bike as well as some safety tips, and none of the tips benefited him directly (meaning he didn't sell the items to me or refer me to anyone). Dave is my first cycling coach and first endurance sport coach of any kind. I am in my first year of triathlon. I purchased my first triathlon bike and wanted to make sure that I got fitted right. Before I had my fitting I was very uncomfortable on my tri bike. I was experiencing a lot of pressure on my perineum and had to constantly readjust on the saddle. On the first session with Dave, he suggested a new saddle, raised my aero bars, and moved my seat back a bit. With these changes I experienced a lot more comfort and ability to apply power. I have been able to ride for 65 and 70 mile rides in comfort. My next session is tonight and we are going to continue dialing in adjustments to make sure I am at maximum comfort and still able to apply power. Dave has been great so far communicating to me in a way that I can understand what adjustments he is making and why he is making them. UPDATE 2/20/17 (5 out of 5 starts): Title: Dave is a consummate professional, a.k.a. " How I went from a painful, tender Achilles tendinitis after 40 miles ... to a 300km brevet (a 188 mile unsupported ride) without Achilles pain." -- Have you ever seen how other bike fitters generally charge you? There is an upfront cost for the initial fit that may or may not include one or two follow-up adjustments in the weeks after the initial fit. Thereafter, additional sessions cost $50-$75 as they continue to dial in your fit, and why not? A good bike fitter is priceless, as is their time and expertise. And yet the reality is that for many people, a proper bike fit is a complex, nuanced, affair requiring numerous sessions and feedback gained from long rides. Let me tell you: since I visited Dave Jordaan in September of 2015 - almost a year and a half ago - I have returned to him numerous times to make additional fit adjustments as I developed achilles tendinitis that limited my rides to 40 miles or so. I have also been doing physical therapy, stretching, etc etc, but bike fit plays a large role in decreasing pain from chronic issues such as this. It was not getting better. I saw an orthopedic surgeon who suggested that I give up on endurance cycling for another pursuit, as this "may not be the right sport for me." Yet I refused to give up on this, and Dave Jordaan did not give up on me either. And finally, nearly a year after my achilles tendinitis was stopping many of my rides, after multiple visits to Dave for adjustments to the fit including installation of speedplay base extenders, I am happy to say that I rode a 300km brevet without any achilles pain, and I now am signed up for a 400km brevet (250 miles) in April. He has never charged me for these follow up sessions occurring a year after the initial fit, even though he should have. He is committed and *relentless* in using his accumulated knowledge and experience to find you the fit you need, to accomplish your goals. The signed championship jerseys and posters that cover the wall of his studio are testament to where he has taken individuals as a coach and fitter. If I make it to Paris-Brest-Paris in 2019 and finish, you can expect to see my jersey on his wall as well. I have been extremely impressed with Dave through the bike fitting process, and now as a participant in a spin ride series I was invited to join. The dedication he shows to his craft as both a bike fitter and a coach is remarkable, and I do not say that lightly. He has gone above and beyond all of my expectations to assist me. As an example, after a bike crash that resulted in cracked frame, he followed up with articles addressing relevant issues ranging from riding technique to wound care; he made multiple trips to my local bike shop to get them the appropriate spare frame of his to be built up for me to resume training while my cracked frame is being repaired. I am relatively new to cycling, but it is obvious to me how much the cyclists and teams that he coaches must be benefitting from him.... ORIGINAL REVIEW on 9/9/2015 (5 out of 5 stars) If you can afford it, having Dave Jordaan do your bike fit is a no-brainer, whether you are a pro or new to biking. I am new to road bikes and am learning the ropes as I train hard for my first century. His fit is not a one-thing event. For the cost, you are receiving numerous successive appointments where the fit is adjusted as you get used to your bike and give him feedback. I had not yet found a saddle I was comfortable with, and he has a number of saddles to try out, so he helped me figure out how to properly sit on a saddle, and held onto my saddle as I borrowed the saddles he recommends to find the geometry that works for me. In essence, I am also benefiting for a saddle program that shops would charge extra for. As you probably know from his website, he is a world-class trainer and during the period while he is fitting me to the bike, he is offering me advice and answering my emails on a range of topics such as hydration, intervals, core strengthening exercises, crashes, etc. If you are new to biking and have not yet pulled the trigger on your bike, I suggest you pay for his services BEFORE you buy the bike. He can recommend a bike that fits your geometry, as different bikes in the same category (e.g. "endurance road bike") have differences that will fit your body better or worse. Consider his fee for the bike fit a part of your bike budget, as you would rather have a slightly smaller budget for a bike that fits you well than a slightly larger budget for a bike that does not. read more

Everything I asked for and more. Looking for more miles in comfort I searched for someone to fit my Domane. Dave changed a couple of pieces of hardware and every single one of my adjustments, then tasked me to put at least 10 hours on the new metrics. Wow! I'm riding faster and further with less pain. The first adjustment has got me really close to my goal. I've made a follow up appointment to discuss my ride and what else we might do to perfect the ride. The most important lesson I've learned in getting a fit by a professional is to get it done sooner rather than later. Riding is my passion, my exercise, and my meditation; and even more so now.
