I had my built at Dana cycles only to find the steerer tube was cut improperly and the expansion plug was seated at a angle . This means you cannot preloaded head set correctly Mark and Chris noted and repaired other improper aspects of the build . The knowledge of carbon fiber frames etc of various manufacturers is invaluable ech company has defined procedures Dana point did not follow etc . In conclusion from my experience I can say this is a shop where any one will find confidence in there knowledge and experience. read more

Ordered a completely custom bike (Enve Melee). Pretty straightforward during the ordering process. Received the bike with two major issues... wrong length stem, and wrong size tires. The guy I dealt wanted me to keep the stem and tried gaslighting me into thinking that I didn't know my own fit. The main issue here is that everything was internally routed, so it required a bit of work to replace. I also was not local so I had to take it to a different shop. This did get cleared up, and they paid for it, but they were EXTREMELY difficult during the process. At one point they tried to have everything ran externally to make the labor cheaper. Who buys this bike to have exposed hoses?! The other issue was the tires, which came with 27's when I requested 31's. He tried telling me he "never agreed to change them out" as if I was buying an off the shelf bike. I was like dude, I requested 31's on my CUSTOM bike, and you never said you wouldn't do that. Why are you comparing it to some other pre-built bike that has nothing to do with mine?? Again, they sent the correct tires eventually (after threatening to return the entire bike), but were total PITA along the way. Lastly, I recently tried to get a receipt from them since their email link wasn't working, and my multiple emails were completely ignored. Luckily I found a separate email where the link worked. I'd avoid them if you're able to get what you're looking for elsewhere. read more

I gotta say... this is my new go-to spot for my road bike. Love the bike display-- one of the best-looking shops I've been to. Mike has been super helpful with all of my issues, and I trust bringing my bike here for repairs more than anywhere else. My Quarq power meter gave out and he replaced it. I was also having issues with my front derailleur and chain grinding on it. Now it shift smoothly. I've tried a bunch of places around Irvine, Long Beach, and Lakewood, and this one's my favorite. They've got a great selection of high-quality bikes and parts. I've got a custom ENVE road bike, and they carry the ENVE parts I need, which is a big plus. Highly recommend this spot! read more

I purchased computer for my bike on the 9th, despite marking it as shipped and creating a tracking number on the 12th the package has not even been dropped off at the post office. I reached out asking for an update have not gotten a response. Pretty disappointed with their customer service....... Update, they reached out to me and let me know that they have been out of the office for a few days last week. It's still wish they would have shipped my package sooner but I understand their position and appreciate their response. read more

I found Stage 21 on Google maps and brought my 2020 Tarmac in for service. The next day on my ride, I noticed how great my shifting was. After that, my Tarmac broke a spoke and they repaired my rim and had it back to me in two days. So I decided to build my dream bike and let S21 do it. Mike was simply amazing. I built a 2024 Specialized Allez Sprint with SRAM Rival AXS eTap and DTSWISS Aero Alloy wheels. To save money, he had a new Vision carbon aero bar and a Fabric saddle laying on a shelf that he practically gave me for free to get them gone. He could have sold me some full price bars and saddle. But he is a great shop owner and knows how to get customers coming back. I can't tell you how amazing this build turned out. I have come in three times for little adjustments and they have been perfect. Heck, i even dropped my chain on my first ride and brought it to him to check the adjustments. I know SRAM are notorious for dropping. When I came back, he installed a K-Edge Chain Dropper and almost wasn't going to charge me. I haven't dropped a chain since. I do all the regular maint. on my bikes, but I wont go anywhere else for supplies, parts or trickier service. I do all the work on my girlfriends Ruby S-WORKS but I may take it here for a good going over before our big century ride on October. In conclusion, go see Mike at S-21 ! read more

I recently came across STAGE 21 BIKES out of Laguna Niguel. I sent this guy an offer for 20.00 less than his online offer for a 390.00 part... to which I was told to go shop for a CHEAPER item. Then he proceeds to apologize for being so rude. So sad... he then tells me of his woes about receiving a bunch of bad online offers... WHICH HE EVEN SAYS THAT MINE WAS NOT... Maybe having just a bad day... but a really poor way to respond to potential customers. I'd MUCH rather spend a bit more of my hard earned money, than give any if my business to him. I had visited several bike stores to service my bike. I was having issues with Shimano Ultegra shifting correctly and I was starting to feel like it would never get setup correctly. I brought a malfunctioning Bosch Powertube 625 into the shop and disclosed that I was the second owner of the bike and did not expect to get it warrantied. I simply did wanted them to connect their diagnostic tools to it and tell me what went wrong? I mean if I get another $950 battery I did not want to screw it up as well. I needed to know why it went bad. Mike ran the diagnostics and found the battery was really messed up and still "might be within warranty". I appreciate this is a non-revenue type of time consuming thing for any shop to do. Mike did not promise to get me a new battery, but said he would speak to Bosch I my behalf to see what they would be willing to do. Worst case scenario, I need to purchase a new battery at full pop. Better case scenario, I get a new battery at a heavy discount. Best case scenario, I get a new battery under warranty. Well, it took awhile (more than 2 months), but the best case scenario played out and Bosch sent a new battery out. So good on Bosch, and great on Mike at Stage 21 Bikes. My total bill was $99, and I happily paid for Mikes time and service. These guys are here to serve the cycling community and I just found a new best shop in OC. read more

Beware! I bought a set of Cannondale Hollowgram 25SL wheels from their eBay store. They shipped me the older 23SL model. I didn't notice at first, it's a subtle difference in the logo. Stage21 refused to respond until eBay intervened, and by then they refused to even address the issue as it had been just outside the eBay 30 day window. Don't trust these people!!! read more

Overall terrible experience, guy at the front desk has an abrasive personality. After bringing my bike in a 2nd time (minor problems), the guy running the front desk responded annoyed, uninterested, and it felt as if he wanted me to leave immediately. Last time I brought my bike in I asked to have the steerer tube cut down, they forgot to do this. Turn around time is terrible for 100 USD an hour. I would honestly recommend people go elsewhere, you will get better service overall. Their "boutique" claim is just an excuse to scalp their customers. read more

Bought some small Cannondale parts from them in the past and they've always had what I needed and were pleasant to deal with. Last weekend was prepared to go in and buy a whole lot of bottom bracket related parts to address a creak. Been wrenching on bikes for a long time but just didn't have a ton of Cannondale BB30 experience. They took the time to have me check a couple of things and advised I shouldn't have to come in to spend money on a new spindle, etc. I fixed it over the phone with them. Finally I found a great bike shop ... Fairly new to the Mtb scene and got my bike serviced and another shop in Huntington Beach and it came back with the same problem and they had no answer for me. Another shop told me my Hub was trash (Dt Swiss) after having my bike for three days that's the conclusion they came to ... And stage 21 has resolved all my problems and is rebuilding my Hub without a problem!! I'm very happy with the service and the staff had a great attitude while helping !!! read more

I recently moved to Irvine and wanted a bike so I can explore the area, and get a good workout while doing so. I originally came in just shopping around, not intending to buy anything just yet but Noah and Mike had no problems taking the time to help me find the perfect bike for me and my budget. We went through different catalogues, colors, and options for almost 45 minutes, and that was just to make sure I got what I was looking for. I bought a bike that day, they ordered it for me and I picked it up a few days later when we moved in to our new place. Other places I went to just basically showed me floor models of what they had in stock, and didn't go much further than that apart from trying to add on items I didn't need just to make a sale. When I come back for my tune up I'll be sure to grab a couple of business cards and recommend these guys to anyone looking for a new bike or repairs. read more
