I took my 5 year old son into a drop in training at Isabelle Jackson location . I know the training is a 6 week program but since there was drop ins I thought it was a kind of like a at your pace work on what needs to be worked on type training boy was I wrong . My son started and was so happy free throwing to the hoop and than the coach started blowing his whistle commanding things . Mind you my sons first time he's five he barely learning left from right and he was screamed at to use his other hand and when he lose his ball the coach would scream for him to run after it . I get it structure is what kids need but if it's something where he should have started form the beginning of the training and not be a drip in they should turn people away . I wasted 25 dollars for 10 mins of the intense " training " my son left in tears . There's a difference in coaching and being stern and coaching and just basically putting down kids . It was an awful experience and really discouraged my son ! read more

Horrible Referees. I wa watching a youth game at Simmons Center. The Referees wouldn't allow any breaks in between quarters, the poor kids didn't get time to take a sip of water. Are the Referees getting paid for there lousy job. The kids were confused to what the Referees were calling. read more

Good League for youth wanting to play basketball with a team. Price is reasonable and Games are professional and fun for everyone!

I witnessed the most DISGUSTING behavior I have ever witnessed from a coach at a kid's basketball game. Our team played against another high school basketball team. Throughout the game, the coach progressively lost his temper and began making comments to our team along with directly to another parent and myself. The first comment I recall him saying was "you ain't gonna make anymore shots" to one of our players. The coach was taunting and bullying our players. Their code of conduct states, " Good sportsmanship and a positive emotional balance are always needed, it's the number one priority and guiding principle in the CYBL." That isn't what they follow. The mother of the child the coach was taunting said "c'mon really, to a kid?" The coach then repeatedly said "Shut your mouth. Shut your mouth. Just shut up B***" directly to the mother and her daughter. The coach repeatedly blurted "shut your mouth. I said shut your mouth". Mind you this was all going on while he was coaching his team. The more points our team scored, the more agitated the coach became. As their code of Conduct states, "Basic expectations include: Respect between opposing players, coaches and parents, Refraining from the use of profanity and inappropriate gestures at all times,". The coach could not and did not abide by the basic expectation of your code of conduct. As if his behavior on the court wasn't appealing enough, the coach continued his verbal abuse after the game and off the court. He directly told my 16 year old son to "shut up, run your mouth for no reason, shut up", all because my son and his teammates were happy for their win since they lost against That team a few weeks prior. Again, their code of Conduct states "No bullying or "trash talking by coaches, players, parents, spectators." They do not care! He directly made these comments to children who paid to participate on your league to gain skills and a positive experience in what should be a controlled environment. The coach then passed directly in front of me and my son as my son was switching out his basketball shoes. He attempted to intimidate us and said "I ain't worried about shit", gathered his team, and the. Said "I ain't worried about no Mexican." So at this point it went from bullying, taunting, intimidating, to racism? Whats worse is multiple people emailed the the president and founder of the league and NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE! Save your money and find another league. This was DISGUSTING!! read more

Horrible organization the director doesn't care at all. We had coaches cursing and shouting at 6 and 7 year olds. Several parents lodged complaints about a specific coach and nothing has been done. This organization is extremely unprofessional and the owner only cares about money. RUN AWAY!! read more

Absolutely horrible organization from the refs to the dad coaches to the unprepared game set up. If I could leave a 0 star I would. This org is in such decline and we were with them years ago with our older kids. Shame on you for charging this much for a crap product. read more

This organization is terrible or at least the "mandatory evaluation" was. You have 250 kids and you do one side where they shoot one at a time and on the other side you do three on three not even five on five and when the other side finally finished two hours later you still only use onside. No one is taking notes on anyone. It's ridiculous. You have workers still on their phones doing nothing and you have about 50 kids waiting to play. You're not even utilizing the space. And if you ask me if this is a "mandatory evaluation" it sucks. What a terrible organization. I recommend going else where. read more

Spring 2022 Season is when we started with CYBL. It was a good experience. So we decided to sign up for the Fall 2022 & then Winter 2023 season. That's when I really began to see the concerning issues with this league. From refs not being professional & officiating games, to the skills assessment being a complete waste of time because nobody is actually paying attention to the players for proper team placement. Some of the teams & coaches not having good sportsmanship nor are they being held accountable for not following the code of conduct. The Director not doing anything about the issues/complaints being made by the patents & coaches. The Coaches whose kids play for league still have to pay to see their kid play in the All Star game. Mind you the Coaches are not getting paid to coach because they volunteered & the Director's way of showing his appreciation is still making them pay to watch their kid play in the All Star game & still charge the coaches the retailed high prices for their basic CYBL Apparel. The rules the Director has in place for playing the game of basketball with the High School Division doesn't teach them real basketball. While it's giving everyone of all age groups a good experience to play basketball, they're not learning the true game of basketball with the rules in place ESPECIALLY with the High School Division. Certain amount of fouling is allowed without getting called. Carrying & traveling is allowed to a certain extent. Self passes are allowed, etc. This league needs A LOT of revamping. It seems to be more focused on numbers/money if anything. We have decided Winter 2023 Season will be our last season with this organization. read more

Very disappointed to see how this "Rec" league has declined over the last 10 years. We have had 2 children in the program. The high school level & officiating is the worst. The parental fans are very immature & inappropriate. This is not AAU or the NBA. Lol. I witnessed a ref at my son's game yesterday go out to his car with friends at halftime & smoke pot. He then came in late to officiate the game. My son told me after the game that he reeked of pot smell. I have also seen refs texting while my son is shooting free throws. My money goes toward this & is not acceptable. read more

Poor organization has poor officiating and the coaches are terrible. They do not teach fundamentals of basketball. This organization has volunteer parents that has little idea of how basketball is played. Officials are amateurs as well and look to be under the influence while officiating around children. read more

Very un orginized. 5th game in and no schedule. The coach/ Volunteer Dad doesn't know what time or where the games will be until the Friday before the game and games are Saturday. No compassion for the kids onIy for money. You have to pay for everything. The volunteer/ Dad coaches suck. Refs call what they want to call. Extremely disappointed with the program. My son has been a part of this league on and off for years. Every year, we consider switching the sport or not playing basketball all together. This league has turned into something that is not good for any child especially ones in high school that are supposed to be transitioning to a respectable adult. In the beginning, there were emails about sportsman like conduct, parent and coaches responsibilities, and constant references of what demonstrates ethical behavior. The league claims to teach fundamentals, ethics and help build a foundation for your child's success. Unfortunately, I think it has moved towards purely a financial gain. Referees dont seem to care, several teams show poor sportmanship, coaches look the other way and the worst thing about i is that the children are taught that these actions are ok. No correction has been addressed and the same actions repeat themself season after season. I signed my child up initially to learn the fundamentals and to grow in a sport. Unfortunately, his view of sports in general has changed solely due to the mismanaged league of CYBL. Best advice: if your child is young, you may dodge some of these experiences for a few years. After Junior High however, you may want to look at a different league all together. Some may call it conditioning for life, I call it poor business practices at the cost of your child read more
