Saturday and planning a day ride on Sunday. Wanted to pack a small cooler with food water etc. Problem - nothing to secure it to the bike. I've been to a few motorcycle places in town and haven't seen any of them carrying basic needs, bungee cords/nets being one of them. So in we go, we are greeted by an employee offering assistance. He shows me where they are - all the way in the back. Not a bad thing, we pass racks of riding clothes both street & dirt, boots, helmets, oils, and more. Some brands familiar and others not. We get what we need and could only spend a little time looking at what was in stock. It looked pretty comprehensive. I've got my wish list & think they'll probably have what I want when I go back. read more

I walked in near closing time. This was the same day I got my motorcycle license. Not knowing much, being a newbie and all, Josh took his time with me, answered all my questions, and I ended up buying a lot of gear. He was very patient and there was no hard sell at all. It was all very high end, top quality stuff. That says one thing about the store - their merchandise is top notch. This is a pro shop - but they have lower cost, lower shelf items as well. But I got the good stuff. I brought it all home and tossed and turned all night. Fact is, I'm not young, and although I would love to ride, I'm also afraid that motorcycles are too dangerous. It's too risky for me. I'm a guitarist. I can't take the risk of an injury. I returned to the store the next day to see if I could return all the gear. Absolutely no hassles, they gave me a full refund. I'm very grateful they are so generous with their return policy. The long and short of it is, motorcycling is not for everyone- it's not for me - but if it is for you and you want some gear, Cycle Gear certainly is a great place to get it. With the purchase of tires here I was offered a discount on mounting and balancing. I brought my old tires in for mounting and balancing once the tires I ordered arrived. When I picked up the tires and rims I noticed two big black marks on the drive pulley on the rear wheel. After installing the rear tire I noticed the pulley was bent and now wobbled on the rear tire. The drive belt was wondering on the drive pulley to one side then the other side. I took the rim and tire back to cycle gear. I talked to Josh about the problem him and I went to the service area and he put the wheel on the balance machine and saw the pulley was damaged and bent. John the store manager was then brought back to the service area and shown the damaged pulley. Meanwhile the only two other employees were in the service area giggling and flirting with one another. The female and male employee were throwing a plastic bick pen at each other but the male employee was hurt and bleeding from the pen game they were playing and now needed a band aid for the cut on his hand. So all the employees were in the back room not out front guarding the merchandise from the albucrackie new Methico thieves. John the store manager agreed the pulley was damaged and that cycle gear would replace the damaged pulley. John ordered a pulley for my bike however the one he ordered was not an OEM part and is 4 teeth to small now the drive belt is too small to fit. It has been thee months since I purchased the tires and had them mounted. I still can't ride my bike. Now John refuses to order the right pulley and my bike sits on a work bench instead of ridding it all Sumer. I need help with the store manager who made a bad decision and now won't fix it. So if your a crack head thief go shopping there the employees go in the back room and ignore the merchandise. But if your a bike owner BEWARE John doesn't seem to be aware of responsibility of his position as a store manager. read more

Went in for some basic maintenance stuff. There were no other customers in the store. I needed a master link which is kept behind the counter. It was almost like it was too much trouble to help me. The employee who checked me out basically tossed the part on the counter towards me and then did the same with the receipt. Come on guys, you need to be friendly and helpful especially when customers are scarce. read more

Don't ever buy any riding gear from cycle gear. Over the years I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of products from this store here in Albuquerque. This in the end didn't matter to them. I had an injury on my motorcycle and I had some pants that I never got around to wearing, their Bilt adventure brand, still had the tags on them and they wouldn't exchange or even give me store credit. Very disappointing. So buyer beware shop Amazon or other online motorcycle retailers and at least you get cheaper prices if your going to be treated like another number. read more

Stopped in on a friend's recommendation. Walked out 20 minutes later with a full riding suit, that fits and in the color (hi-viz) that I've been searching for. J.B claims ownership of 48 motorcycles and his personal knowledge in finding me gear and getting the fit and price right are perfect. The parts department has excellent knowledge also. Best customer service I've had since moving to NM over 20 years ago! Helmets and gear should be purchased in person at Cycle Gear. I just finished returning two different summer jackets to internet vendors because sizing wasn't as advertised. The selection in this 'little' store is fantastic. Totally worth the time to drive across I40 to find them. Rudy's is good for lunch and it's nearby. read more

So, shopping for my husbands Christmas present, I found a pair of Motocross boots online for a great price, on closeout. Happily, i order the last pair online. The next day, I'm saddened to hear that there was an error and they do not in fact have the boots. I called the store just on the off chance they had a pair laying around. They didn't, but their associate was able to order me a pair from another store, give me a price match, and even got me the 2017 edition for the price of the 2016 close out. I was so thrilled, and I'm sure the husband will be! It was a very pleasant experience with this store, and the awesome associates there! read more

This is a great store. Great products & friendly staff. I was especially impressed with salesperson Robert.
