When Cycle Gear was located at there old smaller location down the street from this new location they were okay not bad but definitely not the caliber of the current crew now I had purchased a Scorpion Covert F/X helmet at the old location upon Erwin's recommendation I just recently purchased an Arai Corsair X in matte black and additionally purchased a dark smoke visor and a DF-X2 diffuser and this helmet is not a good helmet it's an phenomenally amazing helmet. It's lights years ahead of my old helmet. The stability it gives you when riding at highway speeds its simply beyond amazing. The fit and comfort this helmet gives you is unlike anything else. My old helmet gave a huge amount of buffeting so much so that the road would become blurry. The entire crew is just simply amazing and they need to get credit for their great effort. read more

As I approached Cycle Gear two things stood out to me initially. The currently vacant space Cycle Gear is soon to occupy and the varying bikes in the lot. From souped up street bikes to enduro's, dirt bikes and cruisers. A DJ was playing music in the parking lot, additionally there was a vendor offering classes for Motorcycle for Beginners. A two day training class of riding and basic maintenance. Inside I was properly and professionally greeted, trays of quesadillas, rolled tacos and nachos were set upon a table, with soda and give aways as well. Headed out here to check out some gear. Selection is OKAY at best. The website has tons and tons of stuff but when you actually head to a location it leaves a lot to be desired. I kind of wish you could order online and pick up at the store but it seems that they only carry certain items at the store locations. I've been here twice. Bought helmets, jackets, gloves and visors. The staff are very kind. The helmet I wanted was stacked at the bottom of the pile on top of the racks and he went and took everything down to get me the helmet and made sure it fit before he put everything back. Went to buy a jacket during Memorial Day weekend and the prices were ridiculously good. Bought a $400 jacket for a little over $100. Don't get me wrong, this is a GOOD store to buy some gear if you aren't too brand-loyal, are a man, and/or need something right away. The place was a disaster with big boxes everywhere on the floor and in the dressing room. But, I imagine it was because they were changing out displays or restocking the racks. Still, do that before or after so customers don't have to climb over stuff all day. The staff was pretty good and helpful. The real problem is.... Selection. They have tons of helmets. The best selection of helmets I've ever seen and alot of the top brands. Arai, Shoei, AGV, etc. If you like BILT, SEDICI, and DAINESE jackets and pants..... This is your store. Because that's pretty much all they have. It would be hard to argue about the quality of DAINESE gear. It's real good stuff and the price tag reflects it. But, I consider BILT and SEDICI to be off-brands. The quality just isn't there compared to ICON or ALPINESTARS. If you like ICON, ALPINESTARS, SIDI, or any other brand..... You're gonna have a bad day. There was 1 ICON jacket in the store and 2 ALPINESTARS jackets. No pants from either of these (my favorite) brands. Tons of jackets of all styles everywhere but almost everything was in euro sizes and they should have a size conversion chart up on the wall. But they don't. Just sayin. Glove selection was good. Boot selection was VERY LIMITED. Off-road stuff was ok. Little odds and ends weren't bad (oils, thermals, specialty tools, chain lube, etc.) Finally, if you are looking for WOMENS gear..... It's not worth the trip. They have next to nothing specifically for women. Which was the whole reason my gf, and I, went. So, she got to be disappointed.... I did feel that the employees were a bit pushy when I went to buy my helmet, they were trying to get me to buy one that was double the price but I understand the importance of helmets and I was satisfied with my choice. This place is out to rip ppl off, came in to buy a helmet and asked about price match, after saying yes and checking with store manager Phil everything was good to go. Fast forward a couple hours i came back to pick it up and according to two employees Rocco and Chris the helmet we spoke about changed prices for the higher of course. Disappointing. I went looking for new riding boots and riding pants. They had a lot of motocross stuff but very very little for street riding women. The rack of pants was limited to maybe 10 pairs. The boots were limited to maybe 4 pairs. There were a lot of jackets and helmets to choose from though. The brands consisted of mainly dianese and bilt... not much else. The staff was very attentive although they had little to choose from. It was also very messy. The dressing room had boxes and sh** all over the place, not much room to change. read more

A surprisingly well-stocked motorcycle shop in Hicksville, Long Island of all places. Honestly the fact that this place exists here is amazing and I'm sure it will be out of business soon even though it is the only one of it's kind within 100 miles in all directions. Cycle Gear just haven't mastered the motorcycle accessory business model of selling both motorcycle things and cold-brewed coffee. This is readily apparent as soon as you walk in and are confronted with a garish pile of tires where there should be a coffee-bean roaster. I love the fact that they carry world renowned brands like Dainese, Alpinestars, Arai, AGV, Fox, Shoei, Icon, Sidi as well as many others to meet everyone's riding and budget needs. Another big plus is the fact that the staff is very knowledgeable in the items and parts they sell. Buyer Beware!!!! Prices marked are not what they charge!!!! A set of gloves was marked for $89.95 when I went to purchase them they came out to $149.95. When i questioned why he said because they were marked wrong. That is not my problem. Refused to sell it to me for the price marked and told me he didn't have to do anything. Rule of retail if something has has a price tag that is what I must be sold for. I will be filing a suit with customer service over unfair practices. read more

Clean, well stocked and reasonably priced. House brand "Bilt" is only ok. Sedici is their premium house brand which carries a lifetime guarantee. Decent stuff. Better still Dainese brand in stock. As a female rider I was skeptical about coming here because of previous reviews stating that the selection for women was poor. However I was positively surprised that they had just as much for women as men. The sales associates were very helpful. They didn't rush or push me into anything.
