I took a MTB in for repairs to the drive train. I was told that they had the specific group of Shimano in stock to complete the repair. When I had a friend [who is a bicycle expert] coming into town on vacation and was willing to show me how to do the repair if I could acquire the parts, I called the shop to see if they would sell me everything I needed (chain, derailleur, cables, etc) so I could do it myself. The response was sharp and rude- " we are not going to sell you any parts, Because repairs are how we make money" I explained my situation and that I'd be willing to pay her whatever she'd like to charge me for the parts, and she rudely cut me off. Over the Christmas holidays, I decided to take care of a front break issue on my mountain bike. I had changed the front tire, put in a new tube but could not get the break to line up without rubbing. I noticed in Wetmore area, there was a bike shop. I called the number and sent an email when I looked it up online. I got an almost immediate response from Allen and met Katherine at the shop. While there, I decided to get entire tune up. Allen did a phenomenal job. My bike had never felt so good. So, I would highly recommend this shop for any of your biking needs. Little disappointed, looks like a very promising LBS, but execution just wasn't there. I'll be first to admit that I came in because of the groupon, and really only to utilize the savings; I already have an LBS and love it. I entered and it definitely looks and feels like one, with bikes and bike paraphernalia everywhere. The front desk girl was new, but friendly. Could quickly spot out the alpha male (Allen? I forget) who was running around, working with the regulars. From there, I was somewhat free to roam around as I pleased. I say somewhat because apparently this store has been subject to some theft lately and I was fairly well reminded that I was being watched. Tried some items on and was quickly reminded that there were cameras ( with sound and video!). Signs also constantly remind not to steal or that you're being watched. Verbally, I must have been reminded three or four times. Excessive. One other qualm was that my item was on sale and they have very distinct print at the register that the groupon was NOT FOR SALE ITEMS, which I'm ok with, but I'm not comfortable with the feeling my price was inflated. Sale price was 55 dollars, noted by a sticker. The sticker was over a tag price of 69 dollars. I paid 96 dollars. Damn. Ninety bucks for what I bought is definitely not a bad price, but feeling of getting taken advantage of, not. Made sure to remind me no refunds, no hanger, no complaints of any kind excepted. Obviously the poor guy has had some run ins with less than savory characters, but it's not pleasant to be treated like a criminal at the door. Good bike shop gone paranoid. First of all, Cycle Logic is not closed. It is opened on Saturdays; however, they are available by appointment on weekdays. This is a superior mom and pop bike shop. Allen is one of the most knowledgeable bike technicians around. I had a right shoulder injury that prevented me from riding my mountain bike--I could not reach the handlebars with my right hand that well without having to lean too far over. He changed the height and angle of the handlebars and changed out the seat for a better one, stating that the seat that I had was for racing--not for a mountain bike. I was sized with further adjustments and was set to go. I went on a ride today on the Salado Creek Greenway---it was awesome. read more

We were looking for a couple of bikes for our two young children (age 2 and 3) and Cycle Logic came up as a dealer for a couple of the brands I was looking for. This was our first stop. I am very bicycle savvy and have done most of my own wrenching and building of bikes for the past 10 years. The first impression of Cycle Logic is that is in a strip center that is not exactly fancy, but not run down. There is a line of used bikes out front, which is nice. I like bike shops that will deal in used bikes as well as new. I like the idea of a shop that allows trade ins and many of the more corporate shops, i.e. those that deal in Cannondale, Specialized or Trek, don't do that any more. The shop is extremely small and poorly laid out with bikes basically piled in the store. There are bikes leaning against almost every surface and they are stacked so tight in rows that is very difficult to get a bike out to look at it. A real turnoff was that we were basically ignored when we came in and when asked what we were looking for about five minutes after we came in the staff member just pointed and said, "over there" and he warned us that "these weren't department store bikes that we were looking at". As I said before, I know bikes. That is why we were shopping at a bike store and not Target. Don't condescend to me before I've had a chance to even look at a bike. So, without help, I slogged through trying to untangle a couple of their 12 and 16 inch bikes from the pile without knocking everything in the store over and attempted to fit my oldest son on one of the bikes. There was a very small area where there was free space on the floor so I plopped him on the bike and pushed him through a couple of revolutions of the pedals to see if it would work for him. At this point one of the workers (the owner, I think) came over and very sternly said, "Sir, he can't ride the bike in the store. It's not safe." I replied, very calmly, that he wasn't riding the bike in the store, I had my hands on the grips with him and that I was simply trying to determine whether or not he would fit on the bike. She rudely replied, "Sir, please take him off the bike. We do test rides for this." Okay......I understand about safety. But if you're that concerned about safety you should make your store cleaner and not pile bikes and bike parts on every available surface. Also, if you are concerned about safety, particularly when clientele come in with small children, you should take charge of the situation and be proactive in attempting to show them the bikes and provide good customer service. If a situation arises that you are not comfortable with, you should turn it into a positive instead of alienating the customer. A good example might have been to say, "hey, that bike looks like it fits your son perfectly. Let me check the air on the tires and let's take it outside so he can give it a shot." Maybe I'm just being touchy about the situation, but I went to two other bike stores that same day and at each store I was immediately greeted by a staff member who walked us through the bikes that they had and had no trouble with my son sitting on the bike in their store. So Cycle Logic lost a $500 sale (and probable future sales) by being rude. As it stands, I can't recommend Cycle Logic when there are so many other helpful and friendly bike stores in San Antonio. read more

BEST BIKE SHOP IN SAN ANTONIO!!! Went in yesterday to purchase a new bike, I had bought my first entry level road bike a few years ago from Performance and was looking to upgrade. Walking into the shop I was a little unsure, there were bikes EVERYWHERE and it looked a little chaotic. I spoke with Katherine and let her know my goals, what I was looking for, and (most importantly) my budget. She showed me a couple of prospectives, had me sign a waiver, and then I got to test ride. I told her I was not interested in a brand, just a good bike that handled well. I ended up falling in love with a KHS Flite 750, carbon alloy bike with 105s. A quick google search on the bike (with excellent reviews) and I was sold. Joey went right to work getting it set up for me, they swapped out the cassete to the gear ratio I wanted and changed the handlebars for me. I spent about 3 hours in the store hanging out while waiting for my bike talking with Allen and Katherine. Everyone there was incredibly nice and I felt very welcome there. I will definitely be going back to this store- i love being able to support a local bike shop versus a mega store. Apparently they also specialize in mountain bikes and have a large selection of kid's bikes and consignment bikes. If you are looking for a bike, this is THE place to go! I went to Cycle Logic first to find a good bike to go on trails and to assist me in my commute. I looked at their great selection and asked a lot of questions. The staff there treated me like family and helped me find the right bike. Just to be safe, though, I went to a few other locations, just to be sure. I was mostly ignored at the other places and did not see much of a selection. Now I must say that this was not cheap, and did take a little longer than expected but man, my bike is like brand new. I have lived in the area for 10 years . This shop from what I assume is a family owned business. Today was maybe the 4th and last time of ever returning to this store.. The owner Mother I assume and son maybe? Rude rude...and rude. Abrasive short and by the end of my 3 min visit to buy a cable for bike....we actually came to harsh words and I was told never to return and was shouted at with profanities...I have had an issue with them before because they are very over priced and really don't want to help unless you are looking to spend thousands..well little do they know I went down town and wound up spending $600 plus my cable on a sweet mountain bike with all kinds of extras...I have to thank the people at Cycle Logic for kicking me out of their store...I will be sure to tell everyone how bad the customer service is... read more

DO NOT GO TO CYCLE LOGIC!!! We spent about $4,000 on a purchase at Cycle Logic. We were then lied to, insulted, and stolen from. I was new to San Antonio and went to Cycle Logic on the advice of someone who had lived here about ten years ago. A lot of the products are overpriced at Cycle Logic, but I continued to go because I liked the owner at the time and I wanted to help out a small local business rather than one of the monster chains in the area. After going to Cycle Logic off and on for about 6 months, my father and I decided to purchase a bike from Allen, the store's owner. We were told the bike I bought was custom built and on commission from a woman who had only ridden it a hundred miles or so before moving out to the country where she couldn't ride it anymore. Allen's idea of fitting the bike was to watch me ride around the parking lot once then sending me on my way. After my first ride, I brought it back to Cycle Logic because I was getting strange noises when pedaling. I was told it may be my bottom bracket and that I would have to pay to have it replaced. This is on a bike that supposedly had less than 150 miles on it. Furthermore, when we checked our receipt we found that Allen had charged us for items that he had "gifted" to us on purchasing the bike. Not only did he charge us for them, he charged over what he was selling them for in the store, and when we brought it up to him he admitted it was a mistake but refused to give us anything but store credit for them. We then took the bike to Ride Away to have it professionally fitted. There, we were told that the handlebars and seat were fitted for a man, and that we could have gotten the bike brand new and with a lifetime warranty for the same price we paid for the used one with bracket issues and parts for a guy. We also found out that this bike was in no way custom built, and could be ordered out of a box from a company in China. My dad then went to return the bike. We had originally been told that we could return it within a few days for a reshelving fee of $100. But when we brought it back two days after it was purchased, Allen told us he wouldn't take it back because there was damage to the bike on both sides from a wreck. When we told him this was untrue (because it was, I had only had the chance to ride the bike about 50 miles since we bought it and there had been no wrecks) he called us liars. In the end, we had to put another $300 into the bike to replace the handlebars and seat, and to have the bike properly fitted. I have never had to do business with someone so dishonest in my life, much less a man who brags about his ethical Christian ways, a man that I was on friendly terms before all of this happened. Allen has trampled all over his morals in the name of making money. DO NOT GO TO CYCLE LOGIC. You will be lied to, over charged, and walked all over. read more

I dropped my bike off Saturday for a tune up and new tires. They said it would be ready Wednesday. I heard nothing and gave them a few more days. I call Friday, nearly a week later, the bike hasn't been touched and they have no idea when they'll get to it. They were excited when I offered to pick it up without it ever being serviced, because they admitted they had no idea when they'd have time to service it. This is because a Groupon brought in too much work. It sounded like others have been inconvenienced by the Groupon too. This is a disappointment after I spent awhile in the store last week explaining my needs to the tech and that I'm preparing for an upcoming race. Which is now in a week and I have no bike. read more

I went to Cycle Logic on 7/6/2012 because I wanted to get into road cycling, but had no idea where to start. I did the usual research online prior to going into the store to have some background on what I was looking for. As soon as I walked in the store, Alan greeted me and started assisting me. Seeing as this would be my first road bike, I doused him with millions of questions, with each of them answered with truthful, honest opinions on what he thought would work best for me. I asked him questions ranging from what equipment I need from the onset, what frame I need, to the best places to ride in San Antonio. He helped me find suitable bikes for my frame size, which I went out and test drove in their parking lot. I chose what gear I wanted, with his advice, and he gave me pointers on how to use them and what to expect. I never felt pressured to buy certain gear nor did I ever feel like they were watching my every move as I walked through the shop. Joey was also very helpful in setting my bike up with final touches such as pedals and shoe clips. He also answered a couple of my questions with honest answers. At the end of it all, after spending several hours at the shop, Alan showed me how to break the bike down, and assisted me in fitting all my gear, bike included, in my rather small car. With their input and advice, I am 100% satisfied with my purchase and look forward to putting many miles on this bike. I felt like a customer when I first walked in, but felt like I had made some friends when I walked out. They didn't just try to pawn the most expensive equipment on another customer.
