Have been by twice now and the first time encountered great customer service, the second time not so much. The two guys working the second time didn't seem to be as knowledgeable, I think one was new. I needed my tube replaced on the back tire and it took a few tries before he could get it back on but after getting it home it now makes a scraping noise when I pedal like maybe my brake is rubbing, I'm not sure. If you want high quality biking gear, this is the place to go. Customer Service was excellent. I told the guy there what I needed and he went above and beyond to help me with recommendations, his knowledge on bikes and what kinds of bikes to use and what gear goes best with them, and comparing prices to other stores. He could've insisted on the merchandise in the store, but instead he told me and my mom where to get cheaper biking pads for knees and elbows. He stopped me from buying the bike lock there and recommended higher quality bike locks with Kryptonite. He helped me figure out which helmet was best and I'm grateful he was there for me and my mom who don't know a lot about bikes. I bought my helmet and bike lights there and the price was worth it--a good investment in high quality gear. The only thing I regret is not having known of the store sooner to get a bike from here. My boyfriend recommended the place since he bought his bike here and was super satisfied with the hybrid bike he got. He rides it to work and school every day. read more

Although I did not end up buying the bike I want, my friend bought his. It was a pleasant buying and for me window shopping experience yesterday. Carlos was so patient and was never pushy. Very informative and personable! I got a bike for the 1st time and they were so helpful and had bikes that were reasonably priced. I went to several bike shops in the San Antonio area. They were the best! They also give you a discount on the whole store for a year when you purchase a bike from them. They also service bikes and offered and suggested I bring my bike every few rides in the beginning to tighten and adjust the bike. I love my bike and will continue to use them. read more

I had a rough spill today, bending front and rear derailleurs pretty badly. I walked in, expecting 1) to leave the bike for a long time and 2) to cost a lot of money. Neither of which happened. They looked at it, put it up, fixed the front and back, adjusted the tension, fixed the bent handle flipper/brake. $27. Had the bike back in 20 minutes while I waited. I was happy to purchase a good helmet to support their amazing service (plus a 10% military discount on the helmet!) We'll be back and we're telling all our friends. read more

OUTSTANDING!! I came in to get my wheel looked at and see about getting a new thru axle. The nice guys in the shop approached me as I entered the shop. They were very welcoming and attentive. Helped take care of my concerns and gave me the heads up on the trail systems out here. Being from Az, the guys helped point me in the right directions with any questions that I had. They were willing to place an order for me but given the length of time that I'll be here, I declined. The product selection is minimal but has all the right stuff. Prices are reasonable. The shop was clean, organized and well lit. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this shop as it's a real mechanics shop with guys that know their stuff! read more

I took my bike in for service. I specified two problems. I could tell the guy was not paying attention to one of them, so I explained it again. I emphasized that it was a noise from the crank, and would only be apparent in a hard ride (e.g., uphill). He assured me that they always gave bikes a good test ride to identify problems. He said the bike would be done Tuesday. It wasn't. When it was done, I went in. He had no clue about the crank problem. He said he wasn't there when they did the repairs -- which apparently means he did not write down what I told him twice. But they would have detected it anyway, if they had taken the bike for a good test ride as promised. So apparently that didn't happen either. What they did try to fix was a problem with the rear shifter. He had said something about it when I took the bike in. I had told him that this was not one of the two problems that I had in mind. But they fixed it anyway. Apparently they replaced the shifter or the cable. That cost me $38. I might have been able to fix it with WD-40. The bike is eight years old, and not worth much on the market. I don't want to pay to replace everything that could be replaced on it. They must have done something to the front shifter too, but it seems they did not take the bike for a good test ride after doing their repairs. When I took it out, on the first ride, the front derailleur was sometimes failing to get the chain onto the large front sprocket. When he explained the repairs at the time of pickup, he said they had bent an aluminum part back into place. It's normally not a good idea to bend aluminum back and forth: it breaks easily. I hadn't noticed anything that needed bending. What I had actually said, when I took the bike in, was that it had two problems. One was the crank problem (above). The other was that the chain was skipping sometimes under load. The guy assumed this was due to a problem with the shifter. But I told him clearly that it was not: the bike was in gear X before the skip; the chain skipped; and the bike was still in gear X after the skip. Not a shifting issue! There was another worker standing nearby, when I picked up the bike, but apparently nobody was authorized to take responsive measures in real time. Their authorization (or perhaps their concern) appeared to be limited to telling me that, in effect, I could just write it off as a wasted trip, leave the bike for another week, and hope they would get it right. I think the better strategy would have been for them to use the telephone, a day or two after I dropped the bike off; tell me what a real test ride had revealed; and confirm what they were going to do. This seemed reasonable; it was what would happen if I dropped the car off to have a mechanic figure out why it was making an unfamiliar noise. The owner responded to this review, and so did another employee. I emailed a reply to the latter. He didn't reply. The owner tried again. Eventually we spoke. He seemed very motivated to get things done right. We talked for 15 minutes. I told him I'd raise this review from one star to three, and maybe at some point I'd take the bike back and they could try again. Based on what I understood from the owner, it still wasn't entirely clear that the guys in the shop were acknowledging any errors or arrogance -- in which case it seemed I had done the right thing to take the bike home and basically give up on them. I may take it back there at some point, or I may just go elsewhere. But in any case, I did appreciate the owner's effort. read more

Rude! After a month of researching mountain bikes I finally decided on the Scott SPARK RC 900 WORLD CUP AXS a $7300.00 bike. I got in my car and drove to Gotta Ride Bikes, the only place in San Antonio that carries the bike to order it. I got there as someone was walking out and was basically standing in the doorway when a staff member said "we are only allowing 2 people in the store at a time, we'll be with you as soon as we can" and he rudely shut the door on my face, leaving me standing in the sun without giving me the chance to ask how long he thought it would be or to ask if they would let me know when, if a sat in my car. I understand COVID safety but it's a myth that you have to be a complete ass to be safe. Gotta Ride Bikes you just made a sale for Trek and the Supercaliber, my close second choice. read more

We bought a bike a few ago from Walmart for my son, but he never really learned to ride due to balance issues (ears). So he finally decided he wanted to try again so he can ride with his friends. But his bike was in kind of rough shape. We went into this bike shop looking for a pump. One of the service guys picked up on my lack of knowledge and offered to look at the bike after. Bike did need a new tube and tire. He basically gave the bike a tune up and even gave my son some advice so he could learn to ride his bike. We walked out paying less than a bike pump! 45 minutes later my son has learned to ride the bike (going straight and braking ). As my son improves, I plan to pop in a buy my son a few things. A bit diffrent than the usual review for this place. I first went to them with my racing wheelchair that was having issues with breaks. Not a bike but they were fantastic with the repairs. I later took them my every day wheelchair for wheel work. There were terrible problems with the wheels and they sorted them out even though it was a LOT of work. Tired had to be ordered but I'm sure once they come in everything will be great. The staff there is always way above par and go out of there way to make you feel welcome. read more
