Bought a new bike there, rode it 80 miles and got a flat. Took back into shop for repairs; $30 on a new tube . Newby techs didn't put on completely/completely. No ride day in the future.. this is not the first time repairs did not meet expectations. Want to support, but service will not allow me. read more

This place is an absolute gem for the region. My husband and I were staying at the Brew Dog hotel nearby and planned to take the incredibly extensive network of bike trails towards Columbus, have lunch in the city and bike back. Given the length of our ride, the shop wanted to fit us out with really good bikes, not the heavier city bikes that are more common for rentals. Bike rentals is a new area of business for them, and they're just starting to explore the option of renting out nicer bikes, so they don't have a real inventory for that kind of rental. But wow, did they fit us out! And this includes accommodating my 5'1" self on a bike that fit perfectly. We were on way nicer bikes than either of us has ever ridden; it was like riding on a cloud. Not only that, but they picked us up from our hotel, gave us water bottles, and did everything possible to ensure we were going to have a great day. This business goes above and beyond to connect all people to the joys of cycling, and they're open to any new idea that will support that mission. read more

Please do not allow any negative or 1 or 2 star reviews dim your light on this shop, Rick (owner) is one top-notch owner who takes pride in his shop, his trade, and all that is 'The Bicycle'. I used to go to the shop well before it moved from a shopping center over to its' current location and before Rick was the owner. Take my word for it, it's a family business with a fine man at the helm. If you ever see any negative review it will be caused only by an Act of God OR a deep misunderstanding of a situation. Bottom line, you CAN trust this shop 100% and if (if) anything is not to your liking and/or satisfaction Rick and his guys will make it right for you. I wish I could give 6 stars for their customer service! The shop sells a variety of bikes, service any type of bike, and I had a good experience buying my bike. The owner also fixes anything with a tire, including my jogging stroller that wasn't working. He diagnosed and fixed the problem, gave it a tuneup and refused to let me pay, customer service is not dead at this store! Cyclist Connection - Bikes Near Me - Canal Winchester, Ohio

I've been to Cyclist Connection a few times over the last 15 years, but have never come out with anything. I stopped in this particular Saturday for two reasons. First, and foremost, was to meet the owner, Ric, as he spearheads a spring/summer/fall Tuesday evening bike ride, leaving from Canal, and I wanted to get more info on that. He also has connections, lots of connections, all around central Ohio and let me know of a few cycling groups around town, mainly female, to give options. Best part? He worked his magic and hooked me up with an 18 speed road bike, carbon fork, for a great price. Besides getting the outdoor biking scoop, I came to check out their annual bike swap/garage sale. Excellent idea, as I learned from one of the knowledgeable swappers that my car will not hold any hatchback rack, as it will damage the fin on my back hood. Had I not stopped and talked with Damon, I was prepared to go buy one and strap it on to my Scion xD. He informed me a system like this would not work with my car. It'd be a matter of time before the fin broke off, probably while driving (just my luck), flying through the air crashing into the car behind me, causing swerving vehicles, parts flying, massive insurance deductibles, yada yada yada. Well, I meant to post this some time ago, but forgot to do it. SO here it is. I took a very tacoed wheel to Rick asking if there was any chance to repair it. Mind you it wasn't a real cheap wheel or very expensive one, just normal. The bike fell off the a moving vehicle, to give you some idea of the damage. This was way before covid-19 times. He worked his "MAGIC" ( trade secret) on the wheel and trued it up while I waited! What more can you ask from your bike store!? You should always consider Cyclist Connection. read more

I went in a week ago to get a bent wheel evaluated, after 2 people looked at it the consensus was the wheel was dead. The friendly staff helped me identify the wheel I needed quickly, ordered it, then switched out my old tire, tubes, and gears when it came in... The price was better then Roll, but the service set them apart. I must have been there at a slow time, (4pm on a Friday) because each of the staff working took time to say hello while my bike was being worked on. I got the feeling this was normal because as other customers came in, it was like watching an episode of friends unfold. Everyone seemed like a regular. At the end of my visit, my bike is working great (they even helped straighten out my break lines), I had a map of trails in the area, reviews of Mtn biking trails, a custom ground kickstand for my 6 year olds bike, and a great over all experience. I shopped online for the wheel and called other shops. They beat the price of another local shop and were within a dollar of amazon. All that matched with personal, friendly service... They earned my business for next time. High recommend! read more

Good place to buy a high line bike. Not much inventory. Bad place to get service if you want your bike back in a reasonable time. To fix one broken spoke .... 2 weeks ! ! Wow. And I purchased my bike there. It was cool that I don't have to pay labor but I would gladly pay to get my bike back in a more reasonable Broke a few more spokes so I brought my bike in. They told me I needed all new spokes and the work "will take one week probably less". On day 7 I called and they said it wasn't done but they would see what they could do. I'm writing on day 10 and just got off the phone with an employee that struggled with basic phone skills. After spelling my name for him 5 times he found my order and said it's not done yet. I asked to speak to the owner and am waiting for his return call. Stay tuned. read more

Great shop. I was doing a group ride out of Canal when I got a flat, then another, and another. Limped back to town. Figured I'd stop at Cyclist Connection, since it appeared my tire bead could be defective. I'd never been to this shop, but the owner offered up a loaner bike, I declined. Then he took my bad tire, they had no Gator-skins my size in stock. He said he'd contact the sales rep. for my tire, try to get a new tire. A couple months later, I get a call he has a new "free" tire for me. I live in Delaware county, so it's doubtful I'll do much business there. I do recommend this great shop for anyone in southeast central Ohio! read more

My boyfriend and I recently decided we wanted to try taking up mountain biking. We went to a few bike shops and stopped into Cyclist Connection as it's fairly close to where we live. We walked in and we were instantly greeted even though they were kind of busy! Working on bikes, a family was in there and all of them were getting bikes, typical busy bike store kind of stuff. A guy offered to help anyway but we were just looking around for the time being so we told him to just take his time doing what he was doing! The guy then sent out someone else to help us as we had been wandering the store for a little bit checking things out. The guy was SO helpful and chatted with us for quite a while since we had a lot of questions and wanted to see if Cyclist Connection was a good fit for us! We left feeling like we were pals with the guy now. We left without buying bikes because we just weren't ready and still wanted to shop around for what bikes we did want. I checked on the bike I was interested in on the brand's website, I haven't been able to stop thinking about it after seeing a bigger size, same color at the store.. Said they were limited stock in the color/size I wanted. So I reached out to Cyclist Connection feeling like I need to order this bike RIGHT NOW before it sells out, not knowing if I was going to truly love it or not. The guy I talked to, I wish I knew his name, was so extremely helpful. Instantly tried to find the bike for me and he did, so he ordered it and said I would have it in a week, no obligation if I changed my mind. Which was AWESOME since I haven't even got to check out the sizing and style yet. I mean they won my vote regardless. Whatever bike I do end up choosing, hoping it's the one he ordered because I loved the look of it, I will be buying from Cyclist Connection. Visited Cyclist Connection on a weekend to have my bike looked at as it had a clicking noise while peddling hard. Ric was fantastic to work with and he was able to get my bike back into optimal performance within 2 hours. I was expecting to have to leave my bike for a few days but he was willing to take care of the issue while I waited. The group of guys working were all very nice and personable. I have been struggling to find a bike shop that I like but after this visit my decision has been made. Will go back for all my future cycling needs. read more

During a move my bike had some minor damage to the breaks. Called and said it would be a couple days to get it fixed. No problem and wasn't in a hurry. Upon arriving, bike was looked at and to my delight the guy says, "let's just fix it now!" 15 minutes later and I'm loading back up better then when I purchased it. Highly recommended. read more

Our son returned to college last weekend after spring break to find that someone had stolen the seat and seat post off his bike, (this was the second bike because the first one was stolen) So we didn't spend of hundreds of dollars for his bike at school.. We went to Cyclist Connection because you can't go to just any store and purchase the seat post, they don't carry them. We didn't know the size of the post but the owner said "run over to Walmart and see if they have the bike there and get the size off the post." The owner went with us to Walmart and got the dimensions, texted the sizes back to the shop so they could get the stuff ready for us and we could be on our way. Their customer service is absolutely awesome. They go above and beyond to help you out. And yes, they absolutely make you feel like you are one of their closest friends and everyone is welcome! So far, so good! Have had our bikes for one season and one half now. They tune up our bikes in a couple of hours when they aren't too busy. Always pleasant to talk to on the phone. Just delivered them today for a tune up and it will be a couple of days, so they say. Make no mistake about it, the store is friendly. The ability to get the bike right the first time is questionable. I took my bike in for the complete tear down service. I rode the bike a half mile before the rear derailleur started auto-shifting. The result was that the chain broke and it was a brand new chain. The reason given was that they had not road tested the bike. I should have never been told the bike was ready if it wasn't. Also, the head set had carbon spacers for the stem and it now has alloy spacers for no reason. They are even the wrong color. The cyclometer worked when I took it in and it did not when I got it home. The owner of the store told me that I am wrong about that. Mind you, a broke cyclometer isn't their problem, but after a complete tear down they should have noticed it and told me. Granted they wanted me to bring the bike back; however, it had already been in their shop 2 and a half weeks (not excessive for a small shop at this time of year) and I bought the bike to ride not to sit in a shop. Since the bike would have needed to be road tested after being adjusted I didn't want to put it out of service for another day. If you like slow service and having to bring your bike back take it here. I adjusted the rear derailleur myself and am riding the bike. I also ordered the correct spacers and will put them on myself. I wonder what happened to the good spacers that were on it? Do not trust the glowing reviews that you see on their facebook page. I listed the problems I had on their page and they deleted my comments. read more

I would leave one star but both guys I met with were very personable and nice and left a really good impression. That being said, what happened was ridiculous. I took two bikes to take advantage of the "pelotonia special" coupon which was a winter tune up valued at $75.00. I live in Worthington so this was extremely inconvenient but seemingly a great value. Since I rushed over during my lunch hour I didn't have time to check them out or ride them in the lot (why would you though for a simple lube/tuneup/cleaning) and I just threw them in the car and rushed back to work. Upon preparing for my first ride of the spring imagine my surprise when I realized my right brifter was completely jacked and not shifting. Upon closer inspection I saw that the chain and derailleurs were completely dry and still just as grimy/dirty as they were last year. They literally did NOTHING to my bike after I left it there for 2-3 weeks (I don't have a complaint on the time since I told them no hurry). As for the other bike, I seriously have no idea since it still looked dirty but is shifting fine- its friction bar cons though and was fine when we put it in for the winter so who knows? Like I said, I left with a good impression but for service I don't see myself ever going back- especially with so many other LBS's right up the road. read more

Very disappointed with recent service to replace drivetrain. On the first ride I noticed front quick release was installed backwards, no problem, that was an easy fix. But neither the front, nor the rear derailleur were shifting correctly. After having the shop work on it a second time, bike still wouldn't shift correctly, the new chain I had installed kept breaking & I noticed the rear cassette was moving around and appeared loose. On the third visit was suggested that I get rid of the 3 chainrings up front (which were just installed) & go to a single ring up front & replace my XT front derailleur with a Suntour. The shifting was fine before they replaced the drivetrain, so I took it to another shop to take a look. They immediately realized the front chainrings were not installed correctly. They also tightened the rear cassette, which appeared to not have been tightened initially. A new chain had to be replaced again, after being trashed due to the faulty chainring/cassette install. It was bad enough to drop $100 for work I had to pay to be done again, but really frustrating to have all the mechanical problems on the trail was worse. read more
