You're better off not signing up and just walking in. 2. Brining guests is a complete hassle and you're charged a non refundable fee of $25 if life changes happen and you don't come with a guest that day. On several occasions I was denied guests even tho it was well before the required 24hour application to request them. On multiple occasions my requests were completely ignored and went unreported to even if they were placed 72hours in advance. I was frequently traveling to KC for work and sports only to be hassled when my wife visited from LA stating that I reached my cap for local guest passes (mind you, she lives in California full time and would visit me about once or twice a month for a weekend) 3. Steam room in women's bathroom is utterly disgusting and wasn't cleaned since I was there over a several month period, how'd I know? The dirt streaks and giant clump of hair that just remained of the floor for over 6months 4. Coming from Los Angeles and the Heimat gym where I pay $350/month, I was excited to try this gym... but this gym is clearly nothing but a wanna-be elite gym. The best part of this place is the flavored water in the women's locker room- And maybe the pools in the summer but good luck finding parking 5. Looking to bring up an issue with the staff and escalate it? Don't worry, they're happy to ignore you. Trust me, you're not gonna miss this place. Only thing it's memorable for is being complicated while trying to use its perks and over complicated. The 2 stars are for the water and the equipment. The cleaning staff is super nice tho!

However, it can get busy there and the hot tub chlorine does sting my eyes a bit. There is also a steam and dry sauna there (both men and women in there). Parking is also difficult to find close by with how many people go there now. The women's locker room was nice, but honestly I expected the showers to be nicer and more modern. We stopped by the cafe on the way out. I tried the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The grilled cheese had apples in it and had good flavor. However, the tomato soup just tasted like thick, sour, tomato paste. It was not creamy like typical tomato soup.

The changing room was clean. After changing into the robe, I went to the waiting area to find my name placement & their comp foot soak, waiting for me. Bre, who did my facial was informative. She listed out everything she used on me & then some. Definitely a place I'd come back too!

Check in was fine but they seemed confused on some of the paperwork. They allowed us to have the private back room which was cool. However they didn't give us our snack until right at the very end and we only had like 5 mins to eat it and then was whisked off to the sauna and when we came back, the snack was gone. Which was disappointing bc the snacks were very tasty and delicious and such a waste of food. If we had that room the whole time, they should've given us the snack at the beginning so we had the whole time to eat it.. we each had at least two services. I had the massage and it was very average. The lady didn't know where my trigger points were at all and was just massaging with no regard for my personal trigger points. Then when I laid face up, she put a wet warm towel on my face and by the end of it, it was cold and felt like gross wet towel on my face. Also that evening, I had red bumps all over my face. And she completely fucked up my neck. She had no idea where trigger points in my neck were either and was just pushing way too hard on all the wrong spots. It was not great. The sauna can fit two people and you could get on YouTube and play whatever music you like. Which was nice. But I don't see the benefit in the sauna at all. Very odd. Anyways, the other girls seemed to enjoy their services for the most part so at least that's a plus. But I will definitely not be coming back.

It took me months to be able to share about this publicly because of how traumatic my experience…read morewith Alex at Centered Spirit was. I reported him to both the state and national board of massage therapy, but no action was taken (other than learning that he was not nationally certified, though he claimed to be). I think it's important to speak up against harmful behavior, so I'm sharing what happened here in an effort to avoid someone else experience the discomfort I did. BOTTOM LINE: There is a continued pattern of not respecting women and their bodies and thinking his (Alex's) knowledge and technique are more important than the experience of the client on the table.  MY EXPERIENCE: I had a Mayan Abdominal Massage with Alex Jackson in May 2022. I sought him out because he specialized in trauma-informed body work. At the beginning our session I brought up a concern I had around a negative Yelp review I read about him. His response - "it's hard to be a male therapist during #MeToo" - he said he even talked to a lawyer to see if he could remove the negative Yelp review about him. His inability to take responsibility was a red flag. I felt trapped to continue the session since I was already there (MY MISTAKE!). The reason I have not spoken to him directly about my complaint is because he proved in the conversation above that he cannot receive criticism or hold a respectful conversation about concerns brought to his attention. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF COMPLAINT: 1. Claiming to heal trauma without being trauma-informed or trauma-responsive His sessions are structured in a way that elicit trauma through the extreme pressure he uses, the in-depth and intimate intake questions he asks around trauma and sex (such as have you been raped and how easily do you orgasm), and how he wants you to revisit the trauma while naked on his table and connected to your "inner little girl". He was acting like a therapist in a way that seemed to be an attempt to exert control over me. 2. Ignoring my boundaries At the beginning of the session, I asked him if he could use lighter pressure. I told him the pressure was too much, I was having trouble breathing and it hurt. Instead of respecting my freedom of choice (lighter touch) in the session, he told me the light pressure was just a "spa massage" and wouldn't provide any benefit. If I wanted the benefits from his work, he said it had to be deep pressure (that hurt). This felt like an exploitation of trust: that I was supposed to trust him because he was the therapist even though my experience of the session was painful.  The pressure that Alex used was unlike anything I have ever experienced. It literally took the breath from me. I was bracing myself every time he pushed down on my body. I could hardly speak, let alone advocate for myself, because he was working with such intense pressure it knocked the wind out of me.  Other than natural childbirth, I've never endured such physical pain. All the while, he kept saying "you're doing great sweetheart" (this was the first time I met him). 3. Continued dismissing feedback Toward the middle of the session, I started feeling dizzy and nauseous. I told him I get hypotensive easily and have a tendency to pass out. He told me my lightheadedness was not from my medical condition, but was from the extra oxygen I was breathing in. Every time he applied pressure (which was constantly) he told me to exhale. That required me to breathe fast, almost like I was hyperventilating. He did not do anything to help me feel less dizzy. At the end of the session my body was shaking uncontrollably and I was disoriented. He said that was common. Upon reflection of how the body can elicit a freeze response to trauma by shutting down and not feeling, he willingly seems like he's trying to induce this reaction in bodies to not feel anything and go numb by the sheer force of pressure he's exerting on our bodies. The amount of force and how it was applied felt abusive to my body and spirit. A massage worker creating a trauma response is not ok, especially when he's been notified the pressure is too intense.  The massage therapist is in a position of power as the practitioner and naked clients are much more vulnerable, especially in a healing space. 4. Dealing with physical and emotional effects after the session Because I've received a lot of bodywork before, I know that working on tissues can bring up emotions. The repercussions of my session with Alex Jones were completely different from other bodywork and energy work I've received. Instead of feeling relief or healing from this massage, I find myself feeling traumatized from it. I don't want anyone else to feel the way I did, which is why I'm sharing this.

His work has helped me heal a variety of problems, often when no one else could help me. Dozens of my clients have had great results with his works also and have become regular clients of his. Some participants reported that his work was more powerful and healing than any work that had previously experienced. Walked out halfway through a group x workout today when the room hit 77°. Called that day to ensure an instructor would be leading to the class and it was confirmed. Hot as hell during summer and leaky ceilings during rain, no thanks. I'd rather go to a clean planet fitness.

There is literally a class for everyone! There is cardio equipment, a large weight room, many racquetball courts, a pool, indoor track, and basketball courts. They also have a smoothie bar / beverage station. I wish I lived closer, but because they are so awesome, it is not going to deter me getting a membership. They also offer swim lessons for all levels at discounted member rates. The class I attended today was taught by Corey. She was great, enthusiastic, and the class was perfect for me!!! In cycle, you adjust the tension to your fitness level. The instructor will encourage you to increase your resistance also. It will keep you from slacking! I strongly urge everyone to give this place a shot. It is so fun and I can't wait to start spending my boring winter evenings there! They also have a sauna and whirlpool, I have not seen/used these yet, so I can't comment. I read one review that said it "smells upstairs" but I did not experience that. Mary, at the front desk was so friendly and accommodating, I was thrilled she showed me around. Another bonus is free use of locks! You just check your keys in and they give you a lock to use. The womens locker room is newly renovated, and they also offer towel service. I'm still giving them 5 stars, though, as other yelpers have discussed, the cardio room/equipment could use some updates. However, the machines work and I haven't noticed anyone waiting around for anything. Besides, I go there for the classes and will be using the pool, and tend not to spend a lot of time in the cardio area. They offer free childcare and tons of other programs/leagues. They even offer golf swing lessons, and massage therapy!!! I think they have done significant updates since other people have reviewed this place, so if you're thinking of checking it out, do it. I don't think you'll be disappointed!
