Klā Sanctuary is such a unique addition to Kansas City! I've experienced bathhouse culture while traveling, especially in Japan, so I loved getting to experience something similar right here in KC. The thermal baths were incredible, along with the sauna and steam room. The entire space felt peaceful and refreshing, with thoughtful touches like warm tea, water, clean locker rooms, showers, and places to freshen up afterward. However I noticed that despite their ADA compliance, it's still a little tricky for people who might have mobility issues to navigate. It gets slippery esp with all the water dripping from people as they transition spaces. Overall I did enjoy my time and found 90 mins was the perfect amount of time. Long enough to feel luxurious but short enough my fingers didn't get pruney. The staff is really super helpful and thoughtful. I appreciate the auto 20% tip as it makes things more straightforward. Even when there was a lot of people in the small sanctuary spaces (10-20 clients), it still felt super peaceful bc everyone is respectful and quiet. People also come in waves, so at times it felt very full and at other times I had a pool all to myself. The price point makes complete sense given all they offer, but I'm a little too constrained financially to do this more than just a few times in my life. read more

This review is a great pleasure for me to write for my first time at Kla sanctuary. I was excited to try this as the yelp reviews looked great and promising. I had scheduled to do a sanctuary pass 90 minutes and a 90 minute massage. The pricing was reasonable. I was made aware to come two hours prior to my scheduled appointment for my massage parking around the building was available on street and under the bridge nearby. I was able to find a parking spot walking distance and when I arrived, I was welcomed in by the host I had let them know that it was my first time and they mentioned that I was a few minutes early. They said that I could go to the conjoined café next-door while I wait for my appointment time as I stopped by. I was able to get a Matcha with coconut water, pink tea leaves and enjoy my space. The barista were very friendly and ensure that I was happy with my choice and made sure that everything was perfect. Once it was my time for my sanctuary pass. The receptionist came to the café to bring me up and walked me through the steps they gave me sandals to change into and held my shoes for me. They showed me to the first room where I would wait for my provider to show me around once I got inside they went over how the shower works the lockers bathroom and they also walked me through to show me how the pools work the saunas the steam room and also they had a Himalayan salt exfoliate for when you want to scrub overall, I made the most of my experience and tried all the amenities. They had a hot bath, a cold bath, a warm bath, and even a mineral bath, which all of them were amazing my favorite part was they don't overbooked too many people at once it was only me and a couple the entire time I was there which was nice and made it very relaxing and peaceful. They even had tea and water to make sure you were hydrated and facial mist three different options to choose from I was extremely relaxed by the time it was my massage appointment. Denise was amazing and showed me to the shower so I can rinse before my massage and let me know what was needed before my provider. Tiffany helped me out with my massage. Tiffany showed up and was very kind. I'm very welcoming. I haven't had a massage in a long time and Tiffany definitely knew what she was doing. She found all the spots that needed to be massaged. I love that she was patient and kind yet strong handed and absolutely amazing. She made sure that I was comfortable and took her time. She was communicated and overall the best massage I've ever had. It's been so long since I've been able to enjoy a good massage at a spa. I'm glad I found Kla Sanctuary. I booked the EARLY BIRD INTUITIVE MASSAGE (50 MIN) online, it was pretty easy although I really don't need anymore accounts. My daughter and I showed up very early for my massage appointment and her sanctuary pass. In the west bottoms, you wouldn't begin to the imagine the serene space that awaits you. The simplistic earth tone decor and layout is so warm. There is Selah lounge where you can have a seat and enjoy a beverage (matcha, specialty drinks and more) on the left of the initial entry and to the right the spa entry. You walk in to an array of Sanctuary merchandise. We were greeted by Raneem who checked us in and also handled settling the final payment. We were supplied spa sleepers to replace our street shoes then escorted to the Integration Room where you could partake in Shang tea and filtered water, relax while you wait for you escort to the locker room. There's a table with a reflection stone where you can write your goal while you're at the spa. It's a definitely a way to focus and prepare yourself for your experience. The bathhouse has many baths that facilitate your wellness, relaxation and reset. Christian guided us back In the locker room which has every comfort for you to start and end your stay, it's co-ed so you'll want to use the change rooms or private toilets. You'll get your own personal locker. There's also a powder room which has complimentary essentials and there are swimsuit dryers. I changed into my swim suit then Christian guided us into the Sanctuary. No electronics or pictures allowed in the locker room or beyond. It's so peaceful. The mood is set! Upon entry into the spa sanctuary, you'll immediately feel like you're in a world of tranquility. In a way you might feel overwhelmed with all the wonderful features you're about to enjoy. I met two masseuses, Gina and Celeste, both were pleasant. Celeste was my masseuse that provided an all around the world experience complete with sound therapy, deep tissue/Swedish full body massage with very fragrant oil. I was so relaxed. The private treatment room again follows the spa layout with beige and neutrals colors and wicker seating. After my massage I was able to use the Luxurious variety of baths: Therme Bath (104 degress) to RELAX you, Cold Batch (70 degrees) to ENERGIZE you, Warm Batch (98 degrees) for you to SOAK, Minerals Bath (98 degrees) with epsom salt and magnesium to SOOTHE you. Prior to enjoying the baths, I had to remove the oils and so I used the Reset Shower and the Salt Altar to exfoliate. It was sensational. There is also more organic tea and filtered water as refreshments by the shower. I took my time enjoying all of the Bath including the stepping stones to massage my feet so more. The best part of the Sanctuary for me was the Infrared Sauna room and Herbal Steam room. Megan was also part of the wonderful staff that made sure our stay comfortable. Someone swiped my slippers so I needed a new pair. I also left my lip balm in my robe before tossing it with dirty linen drop. Denisse was kind enough to go get it. I recently booked for a treatment + pass, an amazing experience! The staff were all friendly and easy to talk to, the amenities were well kept and clean. This is a new spot in Kansas City that gave me the luxury experience closer to home that I have been craving! Absolutely loved the sanctuary and getting to spend time relaxing prior to my massage treatment. It has various baths and saunas to enjoy. They were not all my cup of tea but loved the infrared sauna and the warm bath. The massage was one of the best I have had and left me feeling like I was on another planet. However, with them being a newer spot there were still some kinks to workout. While moving through check-in, the changing room, and the sanctuary there was never a clear expectation of the steps or what would be coming next so often left us feeling a bit confused. Oh my gosh!!! This was an absolutely amazing experience for us! The spa was meticulously clean. The service was fantastic! The locker room, pools, sauna, steam room were great! And the extras they put in, like the salt scrub shower, and the rock bed treatment for our feet, and even the swimsuit spinners - so many extras on top of the incredible environment! I flew in from Las Vegas and came here before I had to go to a meeting and I absolutely adored the place... The feng shui was amazing and everybody was so nice... I got a massage from Evan and it wasn't just a regular massage. It was an extremely spiritual massage as somebody who partake in spiritual life, coaching and breath work, etc.. That being said they graciously gave me another 15% off due to the steam room not working With out me prompting. Very generous. So in all seriousness will I go back? I want to want too, but here's where all the friends sent me in first knowing I don't have a problem with nunity, shared spaces ext...the co-ed locker room situation even for me was VERY awkward and uncomfortable. Nothing really like it in the area so I was excited to try it with a few girlfriends. We got a discounted rate for a special they are running so chose a longer massage. The pools are all great but there is limited time prior to your service to use it which was definitely enough time. They do a great job walking you through the spa and there are lockers, robes and shoes. No food or drink served other than water. The one issue was we were bound as a couple and no option to change since they have limited rooms. Luckily it was a good friend of mine although a bit awkward and they promised they would make it up to us when we checked out however, when we checked out, nobody had a clue about the mixup and they gave us a whole $45 split between the two of us for the inconvenience. They said they had already given us a discount, but it wasn't for the inconvenience of getting a couples massage and kind of blew us off. We wanted to leave since we've been there most of the day and just left. Unfortunately, a pretty nice day left a bad taste in her mouth on how they handled the service. Kansas City finally has a place that makes you feel like you're on vacation without leaving town. Before this, I only found experiences like this while traveling or on vacation, so I'm thrilled we now have something like this here in KC. My husband and I booked the Spa Sanctuary Pass along with a couple's massage, and it was the perfect way to unwind. The space was beautiful and serene, the attendants were attentive, and the massage therapists were excellent. Everything was spotless -- from the showers and changing rooms to the pools and relaxation areas -- which made it even easier to relax. The hot tea stations throughout were a nice extra. There is a 20% staff support fee automatically added to your bill, that is in fact the tip and is very well explained under FAQ; there is no expectation of additional gratuity. No awkward standing outside the treatment room trying to find cash or settling the bill wondering if you've tipped enough. The billing is split-roughly 54% of the total bill is secured by your payment source upon making the reservation with the balance charged upon completion of treatment. There were no "hidden fees" as some have alleged. All that out of the way to share my experience. It was beyond wonderful! The relaxation area is very comfortable, plenty of comfortable seating, ambiance is nice. The changing area is "co-ed" with plenty of individual changing rooms and private showers. Very little to no risk of being seen in a compromising position. The sanctuary amenities available for use and included in the price of treatment include salt scrub shower, infrared sauna, steam sauna, float pool, and plunge pools (hot, warm, cold). Take full advantage of the time allocated for the sanctuary area. Very well organized, plenty of water and tea stations, and clean towels positioned around the area. The relaxation area, the amenities area and treatment rooms are extremely tranquil. Low lights, soothing music, use of inside / library voices. The staff I came in contact with, Nick, Ashley, Kelse and massage therapist, Summer were very friendly, helpful and professional. Summer has magic hands-absolutely amazing!
