The short-staffing is attributed to my original experience. Although I haven't actually purchased, yet, I am likely to finish the deal in the near future. Original Review: I'm sorry, they lost a sale of $3200 - The amount I was ready to spend over the weekend in their store with the e-bike & accessories. So, they have been really limited on how many people they let into the store due to Covid restrictions, which is why I really REALLY tried to work with them. They didn't have any appointments for DAYS, so I arrived the moment they opened on a weekday to see if I can "walk in" - This was fine. I received some helpful information and I was ready to buy right there and then when an appointment showed up, taking away the attention of the person helping me. Again, I perfectly understood. I told him that we can finish everything by phone and left my information. No call. I tried calling back the next morning just to see that maybe he had just forgotten. That message never was returned, either. So, what else can I do with $3200? Hmm-- I can think of a few things. read more

Love Cynergy E-bikes, prefer over River City for e-bike maintenance. I stopped in to look at helmets and was looking at latest model of the Giant Fastroad, I have an older version circa 2020. The front fender on my Giant had lost the sprocket, and I was asking about replacements. Sales person queried the bike tech who found an unused sprocket in the back. They gave it to me to try. With a few adjustments at home the replace part worked. read more

Almost two years ago I bought a Giant Lafree from Cynergy. Since then I've ridden many miles and had the time of my life! Until recently my bike has been trouble free but last week I had battery problems that meant I had to return it to Cynergy for help. The staff had never seen the error report my bike produced but they gave me a loaner battery while they worked with the manufacturer to reprogram my bike. It took a week to get everything sorted out. Throughout this time the staff were friendly, helpful, and professional. To top it off, there was NO charge. I love these guys! read more

Rich, Ruthellen, Andrew, and the whole crew are fantastic! Today I bought my first e-bike (after 3 trips to Cynergy + 2 other stores), a 2019 Giant Quick+E and it's amazing. Took an 8 mile ride which would be about an hour on my road bike (uphill and hauling), and casually did it in 30 minutes. Enough about the bike, the shop is fantastic. The crew is extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and open to answering questions, going on test rides with you, walking you through the pros and cons, and truly making sure the experience is great. Tried to go here to have a broken spoke on my e-bike fixed. Was more or less told they couldn't fix it...? I don't know, it was weird and a bit jarring. they didn't even seem to offer to work with me, find out more information, or anything. It was just... okay, you don't even want to try to have my business?? I'm writing this review because of how it contrast against the service I got from the shop that fixed the broken spoke. I took it to this shop that was a bike tour place, but they had a mechanic. And this guy, at first he suggested maybe I try one of the e-bike shops, but I told him what happened. He kind of grumbled, took a look over everything, and told me what he'd have to do to fix it, and I said okay let's do this. And he did it. See, he didn't tell me no. He offered that I might have better luck with a shop that specializes in e-bikes, but upon informing him of my experience, he quickly set about helping me to solve my problem. I find it bothersome that a place that specializes in bike tours was more willing and eager to help me than a shop that specializes in e-bikes. This place gets a lot of positive reviews, so it seems my experience isn't that common, but it was still jarring and unfavorable. I wouldn't recommend this place or go there on my own because of this. Again, you know. The guy at the bike tour place never told me no. He offered solutions, and one of those solutions worked. The e-bike shop just said no. They didn't offer any solutions, or even appear to attempt to try. They just listed of excuses about why they couldn't help. It was really frustrating. Again, the repair I needed wasn't even wildly specific to e-bikes. It wasn't an issue with the e-bike components. It was a broken spoke. But yeah, they said they couldn't fix it. read more

If you are looking to buy an e-Bike, Cynergy E-Bikes has to be on the list for stores to check out. They have a large variance of e-Bikes and their staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. Rich selected three bikes for me based on my requirements and gave me plenty of time to test ride them. I liked them all and ended up buying a 2018 Haibike model as it had (for me at least) the best price/value ratio. E-bikes, what are the different types and what makes them better or worse for different riders? You can do a whole lot of research and get some background, but I don't think you'll find a more knowledgeable shop in town. I sure didn't. I also didn't find a shop with as much selection. E-bikes are popping up in pretty much all the old school or "analogue" bike shops these days. I don't feel that the big names in cycling have quit got it together in the e-bike realm. Where I did find them in other shops, the selection was limited or questionable cost to quality ratio. When I walked into Cynergy, I told Rich what my riding habits were, and he had several different models and brands to test ride. The selection was really varied and the brands on offer have been making e-bikes for much longer than the big names. The experience was very easy and enjoyable, and it's been even more so as I've been breaking in my new bike. Rich and Ruthellen are really easy to talk to and they understand my needs. They also provide a few really nice perks to say 'thank you' for buying a bike from them. For instance, they offer delivery if you need it. They also grant a really amazing discount on kit when you buy your bike. I have no regrets for buying an e-bike, especially knowing that the experienced team at Cynergy E-bikes is there to sort out any issues I have during the lifetime of my bike. read more

I love my e-bike!!! I purchased my first-ever e-bike, an izip path plus, from Cynergy in September. Since, I've been bike commuting to work (about 7 miles each way), which lets me save money on parking and get some much needed exercise. I've been greatly enjoying it. The experience with Cynergy was great-- I came in, let them know my budget, and they let me test drive a number of bikes in my budget. They did not try to upsell me or push me in any direction, just let me try them out for myself and explained the various features. Christine gave me an overview of bike options, and then guided me on a trial ride around the adjoining neighborhood. If you are thinking about an EBike, this is absolutely the BEST place to go!!! Since we are 70 and 62, we wanted to make sure that this was something we could do together for a few years. The steep hills getting to and from our home have kept us from doing much biking as we have aged. We read about the bikes on the internet, watched tube videos, talked to friends that had them, then visited 4 bike shops with e-bikes. Those shops and their staff were not helpful, and had little time to answer questions. Then we found Cynergy. I stopped in one day for a peek and learned I needed to make an appointment and they would be glad to help me. I did. They asked me a lot of questions and then set aside an hour for me. Two bikes were ready for me to ride and I was given a tutorial first and then I was given the opportunity to ride them with a staff member leading the way and to help me if I needed the help. We rode around a parking lot first while I got the hang of starting, stopping and turning. Then we headed to a neighborhood and practiced there. I rode two that day and loved them both. I couldn't decide. A week later I made another appointment for my husband and myself. We both went riding with a staff member and felt very confident that we could ride and enjoy these bikes for a long time. At 70, I wouldn't have had the confidence to ride an ebike had I not have had the help I got at Cynergy. We absolutely LOVE our bikes. We both highly recommend Cynergy. They are the BEST! If you are thinking about buying an electric, this shop is definitely a mandatory visit. They have a good selection of bikes from several makers in all sizes. Rich knows the e-bike market very well, and knows his products even better. This business is entirely dedicated to e-bikes, so I think that gives it advantage over other traditional bike shops, because obviously they believe in these products 100%, and it shows. He understands that most folks walking through the doors will need a primer on e-bikes, he makes the effort to find out what you need an e-bike for, and he will patiently explain all the stuff that you need to know to test ride some appropriate bikes and make a good decision. He took me out with a couple bikes and showed me the ropes himself, and gave me plenty of time to test ride. He understands that first impressions on an e-bike can be deceptive, and knows its important to spend time time in the saddle to find what works for you. It's similar to the process of buying a pro-level tennis racquet. In my case, he really went out of his way to accommodate me, and provide helpful tips and info without ever being pushy. I highly recommend patronizing this family-owned and operated shop. read more

I purchased an Ebike from Cynergy in 2018 when they were under their original ownership. Now 4 years later, I took off on a bike ride and had a brake problem where the rear brake lever was pretty much bottoming out with little if any brake power. I decided to drop by the new Cynergy location and see if it was a simple fix that they could quickly help me with. Through the new owners kindness, I was able to almost immediately get the mechanic to take a look at my bike. They took it for a test drive to see the brakes in action, fixed the brakes, lubricated that chain, and then recommended trying my grips in a different angle which proved to be much better on my wrists. I offered to pay for all of this but they declined. It looks like the new owner and staff of Cynergy are carrying forth the great service I had previously received. Thanks! read more

We bought my wife an E-Bike from Ruthellen and Rich last year. This year I tested several bikes and picked out a Haibike SDuro Hard Seven. It's sporty and rugged, but I can ride it on the streets and paths near our home. We live on a big, long hill and I'd always be dying before I was halfway up the hill. Now I can ride the entire length of the incline without stopping. What I like about the E-Bike is that it helps me do the work, but I still have to work too. Cynergy E-Bikes - Bike Repair/Maintenance Near Me - Portland, Oregon

I've reviewed Cynergy in the past with glowing reviews, but they've changed since their beginnings at the old location. Bought bikes from them in 2016 and 2019 and have had them serviced multiple times. But as they've been expanding, the quality of their repair shop has seriously dropped, and they have lost the personal touch Rich and Ruth Ellen used to have with customers. I left my bike with them while out of town, and wanted their mid-tier tune up, with attention to my chain/drivetrain, rear tire/tube, and the brakes. I asked if I needed to take the battery with me to charge it, as I brought it to them on empty, but they claimed they would test ride it before letting me walk with it. While I was out of town, they called me to let me know the bike was ready for pick-up, so I had assumed everything went as we had originally discussed was done. I tried to pick it up before closing when I was back in town the next week, but I was running late, and wouldn't have enough time to grab my helmet at home and pick up the bike. In the past when I have done repairs there, they were kind enough to loan me a helmet that they use for their test rides, which I would return when they open the next day. I called to confirm they would still do this, but said they could only offer a store credit on a returned helmet, and wouldn't let someone take their helmets out overnight. Which is fine, I understand that I'm asking for a favor here, but it really felt like I was an unknown in this store now, when I was immediately recognized every time I called when Rich and Ruth Ellen were in the store. I came to pick it up the next day, and discovered that they did not do the full tune-up I requested on the bike, as they felt like it was not at that point yet. They charged me for just a brake bleed and new pads. Not sure why this wasn't communicated or discussed with me the previous week while I was gone on my trip. They also never charged the bike and did a test ride. I was prepared to do some courier work on my bike after picking it up, but was stranded at their shop with a dead battery. They did loan a bike to me to do some deliveries temporarily (some strange cognitive dissonance here: they let me take a bike while they are open out of the store, but not a helmet while they are closed?), but this bike's drivetrain was in horrible repair, and I returned it about an hour and a half of trying to ride it around town. The tech that I returned it to was surprised that I was even allowed to leave the shop with that bike, as it had not been serviced or examined in months. I took my bike out with the charge it got in that time, and just chalked this up to their bike shop being busy, and feeling glad that I at least only had to pay $25 for just getting some minor fixes worked on. My opinion truly soured the next day, when my rear tire/tube that I specifically asked them to look at had a flat tire from just wearing out. Happened on a newly paved road, no objects in the road. This is absolute malpractice from a repair shop. When having my flat serviced by another shop, they also said that my chain/drivetrain needed work very soon, which I had specifically also asked Cynergy to work on. I get that it might have some life on it and that they think the might be saving me some money. But I had specifically discussed with them when dropping it off that I was going out of town, knew that I was probably a tad early on a tune, but wanted to avoid missing time working on my bike with long turnaround times on repairs right now later in the summer. In summary, my recent experiences with Cynergy on just one repair include: a complete lack of personal touch with customers, not communicating the work that was actually done with the customer, forgetting to charge my bike, loaning me a bike that was not road ready, and ignoring work on a tire/tube that desperately needed done, and ignoring other areas that I had wanted done. I get that their repair shop is probably overloaded with work, but their workload is coming at a severe expense to quality of work. read more

Went into Cynergy from out of town to purchase an E Bike. Rich and his team was super helpful the few times I called the store and emailed beforehand to confirm the bike I wanted. They offered to keep the bike in the store for me for a few weeks as I wasn't going into Portland until then. When I went in to pick up the bike, they had it ready and waiting for me and was super helpful in explaining everything for me. They gave me a few calls afterwards to check up on me and the "new" bike and make sure everything was good and if I had any questions or concerns. I went back for my complimentary tune up and because I was coming from out of town, they were able to fit me in on a Saturday, which I assume was their busiest day. Due to traffic, I was running late, gave them a call as a heads up and they were cool about it. There was a mix up and Ruth Ellen didn't get the message that I was running late, so she called me to double check that I was indeed coming in. When I got there, she apologized immediately for the call, which I didn't take any offense into it, but was a nice gesture of her. Overall, the whole experience was stress free and service was great. read more

I'm in L.A. area, and purchased a Yamaha Civante E-bike that they shipped to me about a month ago - it wasn't available anywhere else in the size I needed. The ordering and shipping process was excellent and the bike was delivered to me timely in perfect condition. Both the staff and owners at Cynergy have been consistently helpful in answering any questions I've had about the bike. They've called several times just to follow-up and ask how it's working out... going on 300 miles now and the bike is great! After doing some online searching and talking to a couple of various dealers I decided I was going to purchase an ebike. I had settled between two specific types and brands. I learned that Cynergy E-Bikes carried both brands. This seem perfect as I could compare both bikes side by side. When I arrived I was met by Ruthellen, we discussed how I wanted to use the bike, my outdoor interests etc and then she carefully went through each of the two bike's features. She encouraging me to test ride both bikes. After my rides through the quiet neighborhood by the store neither bike seemed quit right for me. I purchased my EG Zurich ebike from Rich's shop in SE Portland over 4 years ago. I had a very good experiences during the purchase and in the repairs I've had done since. His shop offered a wide variety of ebikes at different price points. I've now had my ebike for 4.5 years. I use it for my 4 mile/500 ft elevation commute to work year round. I've been very happy with the Haibike ebike I purchased at Cynergy recently. It has a Yamaha middrive with enough power to get me to work without needing to take a shower there. I'm really glad I didn't opt for anything with less power. The range of gearing is great. I've put just over 120 miles on the bike so far. Rode every work day this week. I really appreciated the level of assistance from Rich and Ruthellen. They answered a lot of questions and offered advice based on my situation and laid out a good test ride route.
