We held my mother in law's viewing / wake service at one of the indoor room. The size of the room were plenty big and chairs were lined in rows with napkin boxes placed at different sections . Water bottle neatly arranged on a table in the room and also extras on the desk out side hallway. Women bathroom were clean and stocked , the entire inside of the facility were well kept. Adjacent to our room has an outdoor space , I believe where one can burn incense for Buddhist ceremony. Disappointed that we were not able to have food for our guests , due to COVID regulations . Both staff I encountered were diligent in helping our family arranged tables so we can placed incense/ flowers and food offerings. read more

I left the main review under Cypress Lawn because Olivet is now owned and run by Cypress lawn. Look for details there. Before the change of management in 2022 after my mother passed, I called and spoke with them. They helped me understand the process and what to expect and confirmed that my mother could be in interred with my father. They called it a right of internment and assured me, there would be no problem. I contacted them again and learned about the takeover by Cypress Lawn. I was assigned a different person some young man who told me my mother could not be buried with her husband, as was her last wish. I can tell you that it seems profits are number one, the chairman of board and the Board of Directors won't even do anything to help you. The chairman of the board wrote me a letter made assurances and then never followed through my mother remains unburied. She was a well respected Doelger Senior Center volunteer and state of California public service retiree. My father was a decorated war hero and this situation is just shameful. read more

I'm so frustrated with this cemetery. Olivet does NOT do a good job with maintaining their grounds. My grandfather and great grandparents are buried in Section K, and apparently this section has been having a lot of plumbing issues. I already knew this though, because they had major plumbing issues back in 2018 and I had this same issue back then. Per Angela from the office, the water is shut off in that section and she admitted they have received numerous complaints about it. I understand that the cemetery is old and requires maintenance, but my grandfather's grave has looked like this since DECEMBER. When I visited in December, I was told they would finish their maintenance work by the New Year. I didn't visit in January or February. March rolled around and it was still JUST AS BAD as 3 months prior. I spoke with Angela on the phone and she informed me she would get me an update from their groundskeeper and call me back. I explained the condition and she said that if there's plywood down, it's probably because there was a recent funeral/burial - I stated this was NOT that, but most definitely a maintenance issue. So clearly there is some sort of disconnect between office staff and the maintenance crew, as the office staff have absolutely no awareness of the condition of their grounds. Angela sounded like she was very understanding, but I never got a call back. I went back to visit again this past weekend, still in the same condition. I physically went into the office and showed her the photos, and even she seemed surprised and empathetic with my frustrations. Angela said she would email their groundskeeper, Julio, for an update, and that she would call me on Monday. She took my name and number down and even put it on a post-it right on her computer. I didn't get a call, so I called again today (Thursday) and was told that she would review open tickets to check for an update. Per Angela, typically maintenance orders are fulfilled within 7-10 days. I understand that this plumbing issue may indeed be a bigger issue to resolve, but this is absolutely unacceptable. I'm trying to be patient and understanding, but at this point, this just feels like blatant disrespect and disregard. I expressed to her how my grandmother uses a wheelchair and has not been able to go up to my grandfather's grave in months due to these horrific conditions. I'm completely appalled by their lack of upkeep and respect for the deceased. This is a horrible final resting place. Hopefully I actually get a call back this time with an update on when we can expect to have these mounds of dirt and plywood REMOVED!!! read more

I have family who are buried here: Grandparents and a great-aunt and great-uncle. I can't speak to the funeral home workers, and that's just because three of my family members passed away before I was born and I never had to talk to the workers about funeral arrangements. It is a nice and peaceful place to spend time thinking about and remembering your loved ones, but my biggest gripe is with people who apparently walk their dogs here. Every time I come here, I notice there is a ton of dog crap everywhere. All I ask for is that you have a bit of respect for where you take your dogs. This is a cemetery. We just want to come and see our loved ones who are no longer with us without having to sidestep your dog's crap. Since you don't have the common sense to not bring your dogs here, at least have the decency to clean up after them. read more

Olivet needs to resolve some serious basics/safety issues. 1) unsafe dead trees are literally falling on monuments breaking headstones. Uprooting stones 2) dozens of water faucets are not working or capped. Making it very difficult to change water or water or clean. 3) grass is basically dead or dirt in a lot of the areas. 4) mausoleum has a serious water leakage issue where water is tunneling under paint and dripping out of walls. 5) roadways have mud and dirt runoff/ dead sticks/pine cones or trash in gutters. Cypress lawn needs to resolve these issues ASAP and retain a level of professionalism as other cemetery locations. It's really embarrassing and disrespectful for the residents seeking their final resting place. read more

Just for viewing. I was concerned about all the negative reviews I was seeing but was pleased so far with the results . Because of CA covid restrictions, I'm here for a prayer and viewing for two days before the burial at another memorial. Olivet has a large open air tent with heaters, chairs, portable microphone, and tables provided for the services. There's ample parking in the back. I have nothing but praise for the three, I guess the title is directors assistants. Dominic, Ronnie, and my 49ers fan who knows Danny Glover but I forgot his name sorry dude are great people. Now these three assisted us every step of the way and constantly checked on us. Do you have enough water? Need more chairs? Would you like the portable heater turned on? They catered to us during these stressful times without any complaints, from opening (0830) to closing (1800). I know no ones wants to be here but it's part of life's journey. So from cradle and before the grave tell your friends and family what he/she means to you before they can't answer back. Overall five stars for a team that honors the living as well as the dead. Quoted us $1300 plus $150 documentation fee to change out a photo in my in-laws niche. Almost $1500 to unscrew a few screws and remove the glass. We only wanted to change out the photo because it had faded from direct sunlight over the last 10 plus years. Talk about taking advantage and trying to make commission since our former "sales person" no longer works there. I'm disappointed and sadden. For reference, the cemetery in Hayward charges $100 for this service. That's quite the mark up Olivet. read more

Why Do the Dead go to Colma, CA!!??? The San Francisco City Fathers passed Bill #54 & Ordinance #25 on 3-26-1900 stating that no further burials will be allowed in the City & County of San Francisco. With no further burials, they became a place of neglect and vandalism. They then became a health hazard. Colma became the chosen area for cemeteries. Mount Olivet Cemetery was established in 1896 and changed its name to Olivet Memorial Park in the early 1900. I was here looking for my Aunt Marion and Uncle Robert's Grave. I found it. I did not think I would get emotional but I did. I notice some flowers. My cousins were here recently. I know they miss their Mother and Grand-Mother and Great- Grandmother. She is my Mother's older sister. She died Halloween 2004. I'll talk about Uncle Robert some other time in another Yelp. I miss my Auntie Mae. Olivet is small. It is not as posh and rich as Cypress Lawn, That is where Aunt Mae's Mother rests. There is a beautiful stain glass circular window in the office. The filing system for plots is a bit antiquated. They need to computerize ..Database those records. Reverend Benjamin Chin was very helpful. I did not like the remark from one of the office dudes... He called Olivet a "Ghetto Cemetery" oh well at least they have a headstone. Cancer killed them both. They were both Cigarette Smokers. Rest in Peace Tio e Tia. read more

There is a huge granite monument erected to honor circus folk in the back of the cemetary. It has a yellow clown painted on the front. There are rows and rows of graves of clowns who have passed on. They all have square tombstones in the ground, some of which bear their stage names, (ex. Bob "Bozo" Jones 1898-1965). It is a magical and beautiful thing. Nearby is a mammoth monument to a sailor's group, and I believe it is rumored someone saw a Virgin Mary in a tree in Olivet as well. read more

Being in an industry that you should be sensitive to this , it was hard hearing one of the employees yell " who ever owns the silver dodge needs to move it or it will be towed " this was as we were lowering the casket into the grave. We said goodbye to a 23 year old today. Very unexpected death. ( shorter Asian lady was the one who yelled ) the hearse was unable to maneuver around a few cars that were guests at the burial site. I would give this site a ZERO if I could. It is a constant struggle to work with these people. They do not take care of the grounds, that is, the poor pauper people area. My father's gravesite is always buried under weeds, dirt and grass. I can never find him. I am about 150 miles away and when I get the chance I go to visit him. My mom had prepaid for a crypt and plaque for my brother who died 4 months ago and despite numerous phone calls, messages left, I'm still getting the run around by the staff including the owner. He actually referred me to call the vendor to see if I could speed things up? Unbelievable. The same thing happened with my grandparents crypt. Took MONTHS to get theirs. I just reported this place to the Better Business Bureau in the hopes of getting their help on this. I finally had to report them to the State of California which finally got the matter resolved. They often turn the water off and families can't put water in their flowers, or to conserve (which is even worse). They never have enough green vases available. The grounds keepers are rarely seen, unlike their counterparts next to them. It's difficult enough to visit deceased family with having to voice frustration with their final resting place. The grass is green and seldom muddy. It's a big place so when calling on the groundskeepers for something you need, it takes a while. It's very very windy in this area every time I've been there. The actual burial process is surprisingly quick but watch out for when they remove temporary grave markers. They seem to do that a lot. read more

The majority of my Family is laying at rest or at least trying to here at Olivet. My Mother just passed April of 2018. I miss her so very much. It's very disappointing to come here and see how poorly the grounds are kept, mounds of dirt covering the site, dry grass, dead weeds, and poop yes POOP all over the place. Do you guys realize the amount of money that is spent & what your charging for Burials??? There's no excuse as to why the grounds are in this condition. It may not be your relative right now or even you yourself, but one day it will be an imagine visiting your Family or your Family visiting you in this state. My Father is in the Military section EVERY time I come there his sight is covered I mean covered caked up with dirt and I have to bring bottled water to clean his sight off. I placed artificial flowers on my Family's sites so they always look nice and I can easily recognize where I'm going, someone stole the flowers. Another time the flowers were covered with mounds of dirt. Now just imagine how much dirt that is to cover Flowers. Hire some new Groundskeepers ones with Heart & Soul who really want to work and will take great pleasure in respecting the deceased and there final resting place. I was in a hurry to get a plot for burial. It was easy dealing with Olivet. I was able to finish all the paperwork, formalities and burial within 24 hours. They agreed to some of the Hindu rituals like being able to bury directly into the soil etc. All in all I had an easy dealing with them at a very tough time. Whenever I visit the Bay Area, I always try to pay my respects to my aunt who is buried here. I always look forward to my visit. The cemetery is situated higher in the mountain so you get a spectacular view of Daly City and its neighboring cities. Very peaceful for all those laid to rest here and for those visiting their loved ones. Area is well tended to with a large water fountain that is kept clean and grass that is always cut and green. read more

When I went to visit my parent's on Thanksgiving Day 2013, the sign on the door stated "Holidays - Open at 10 a.m." I pulled up at 10:15 and the door was still locked. There was no one around to help me or answer questions. There were people visiting loved ones who are buried in the ground; however, I could not understand why I was unable to visit my parents in the crematorium. When I revisited the following day to complain about the circumstances on Thursday, I was told that "all the buildings are all locked but yet people can go visit the gravesites in the ground. " Since they have new owners, they've taken out the flower arrangement station. I was told "to go downstairs to do it." When I asked "What if you can't get downstairs?" I was given a shrugged shoulder response. I am not very happy with the new owners of Olivet and I was very sad on Thanksgiving Day not to be able to visit my loved ones. read more

preface: i don't know anyone buried here. i went to visit the mausoleum. i found it to be in considerable disrepair. but not in like, the interesting way a really old building decays into disrepair. the floors were really, really dirty. like they hadn't even been swept in a month or more. there were flowers on the floor and some other things that had obviously fallen down but weren't put back. there's some scary AF basement area that i can't believe is open to the public, with old bathrooms that have had the heads removed. it's worth a look if you like weird abandoned basements but man, i can't believe you're allowed down there. the plants are all fake. i don't know. i guess i'd be disappointed if i knew someone buried in there. read more

Hi Everyone who reads this! I highly recomend Olivet National Cemetry as my whole WEST coast family is buried their except myself and another sibling. I LOVE the Memorial Day Service this cemetry has. On Memorial Day the cemetry puts Flags on the graves; It looks so Patroitic and true USA american down to the heartland. My Grandparents were first burried their. Grandpa Ash was in the Spanish American War, Civil War, and World War 1. My Grandma Ethel (ET) is buried next to Grandpa Ben. Durning World War 2 Grandpa Ben worked at the Presido in San Francisco on clocks. Next My Dad, James Paul Fagan was in World War 2; He was in the Army Corps of Enerineers (Spelling) My Mother ,Claudine is burried on top of Dad. Next My Uncle Don Fagan is burried their ; He was in the Army also in World War 2; and my Aunt Marium Ash ( FAGAN; Uncle Don took Aunt Mary and Mom's madian name of Ash ) is burried on top of Uncle Don. I think this is how they are burried. I know that the wives are burried on top of the men relitives; with the exception of Grandpa Ben Ash and Grandma Ethel who were burried next to each other in caskets. The others were in urns and put on top of each other. I think this is the MOST BEAUTIFUL CEMETARY AROUND!!! So today I came to visit my mother on her birthday and it took me a half hour to figure out where her plot was where she was buried along with my grandmother and the reason is that the headstone the grave marker that cost us a few thousand dollars was completely under mud completely covered over there is no maintenance here unfortunately my mother chose this place forty years ago and paid for it for 30 years ago but she was unfortunately because she was such a trusting woman duped and what she thought she paid for is not what we see here today this is so heartbreaking and they don't have enough employees to do the work here and so they let things go into the worst condition! Shame on them it's about the money and not about the respect for the deceased ones or their loved ones their families it's about making a dollar and if there isn't a dollar to be made then they're going to ignore any problems that exist! read more

DISRESPECTFUL TO THE DECEASED AND FAMILY MEMBERS! Please do not use this memorial park if you need to make arrangements for a loved one! If you hate someone then chose this place. On 12/23/18, my husband and I went to pay our annual holiday respects to our aunt. When we got to her gravesite her headstone was totally covered with a huge mound of dirt. You could not even see a corner of it, even the next headstone was half covered as well. I was so upset what an insult. The grounds keepers showed total disrespect to the deceased and family members coming to visit. We immediately went to the memorial park office to report the issue, we even took pictures to show them. Office just brushed us off, stating they could give us a brush to clean it up. This was an insult. If they really cared they would have come out to see the issue. The gravesite needed a shovel and a wash. They said all they could do was make out a report to have the service. I was so upset such an real slap in the face. I left staying I would be back the next day. I did not return until 12/25/18, no surprise it still was not taken care of, and office was closed. I returned to the office on 12/28/28. I was shocked, gravesite still not cleaned. I seen a grounds keeper and informed him of my complaint. He told me to report it to the office. I told him I did, so back I went to make my complaint again. I was told a email was sent to grounds keepers, it would take about a week to resolve. A week had already passed what is happening??? I then got the manager name of Mrs. Leung, I called her and she told me she would get back to me with 30 minutes. Call was made around 1pm. She then got back to me @8:45 telling me that the Regional Manager and supervisor could not help her either. This place it a unprofessional disrespectful business. I was not in a hurry of finding a place for my mother. I chose Colma only because I live near by. I first visited Woodlawn and Cypress on the other side of the road because someone recommended me the former one and latter one is hugh. Both did not give me any useful information and I did not feel "home" nor comfortable. (see my other reviews on both parks). Without any thought, I stopped by Olivet. Linda, the manager, greeted me professionally. Her attitude and professionalism gave me super "peace" on my mind. The park was quiet and clean. I visited on Monday afternoon and it was so calm and quiet. She really know what she is doing. She did not waste time talking nonsense with me. She did not sell me any expensive urn or vault. She told me to take my time to choose what I like. She even asked me to shop at other parks to make sure which one I like the best. She is just great!! The whole purchase was easy, simple and wonderful. I went to see her 3 times in a week and she was great every time. No gimmicks, no nothing. At the end, she gave me 10% discount of everything.
