Meh is right. A nice setting with outdoor seating. An enthusiastic staff. An ambitious menu. Unfortunately, strips of defrosted gyro meat from a box does not bode well for a place billing itself as an "estiatorio." The melitzanosalata mostly tasted of salt. The tzatziki was OK, and the pita, fresh. The "greek fries" were frozen sweet potato fries, again tasting mostly of salt. The spinach and rice, a triumph of Greek cuisine when properly prepared, tasted mostly of salt, with a little dill, probably not fresh dill. There was no element of Greek lemon, oregano & olive oil on the grilled chicken or salmon. These are nice people, from the reception to the waitstaff. I was rooting for them to succeed, but you just can't pretend to be Greek and deliver salty food without imagination and make it as an "estiatorio." Greek food is meant to be simple, delicious, and redolent of fresh herbs, lemon, and fine, fruity olive oil. Gyro should be cut from a spit, or advertised honestly as something other than gyro. The owners have all the elements here, except a chef committed to authenticity and clean, honest Greek flavors. read more

I have ordered the Short Ribs Take Out Special a few times - the best short ribs around - melt in your mouth. Comes with several sides - excellent value. The outdoor patio is also a wonderful spot to stay and eat - just really like the place, and the staff are so friendly - my grandson, Spiderman, got a big welcome today! The remodel is nicely done from when it was Piccolo's. Mother's Day afternoon service was beyond slow. It took over one hour for entrees to come to our table. The food was fine. The service really dampened the overall experience. There is a kid's menu that charges $9 per entree which seems like a misdemeanor. I'd go back, but stick to the bar and bar menu. read more

Last Friday we decided to try Cypress, a new restaurant in the former Piccolo location. The space is newly renovated with ample parking and nice atmosphere. We sat on the covered patio for an early dinner. We got the sense that they were going through opening trial & error, trying to get things dialed in. The staff was eager to please and courteous, but clearly need to work out some details. They will get there. The food was very good. Started with complementary bruschetta. I had grilled shrimp kabob with cinnamon rice. Yum. My dinner companion had penne vodka with chicken. We were both happy with our meals and our server. It's a bit pricy, but I recommend giving this restaurant a try. read more

I want to give Cypress a better review, but there are just things that need improvement. Tonight at 5:30 we decided to grab a bite to eat but since it was already late in a busy night we called to inquire about a reservation. I was put on hold and forgotten about. When another person picked up the line, I re-requested a reservation if they had availability. The hostess said they had spots and took my reservation. Upon arriving 15 minutes later, for our 6:15 reservation, she told us she miscalculated and didn't have any available spots. How does a hostess take a reservation and then say OOPS fifteen minutes later upon our arrival? Unacceptable, as was her demeanor throughout the process. read more

Cypress is always terrific for dinner. The atmosphere is lovely and the menu offers a wide array of delightful choices in addition to traditional Greek fare. The servers are always attentive and eager to please. Recently we hosted the rehearsal dinner for our son's wedding at Cypress. Our 50 guests were treated to an assortment of cold Italian antipasto selections as well as fried calamari and tri-color salad. Delicious entrees included penne vodka, chicken francaise, beef short ribs and grilled salmon. We finished the evening with an assortment of Italian pastries. The private room upstairs is spacious and also has an outdoor balcony. Our family and friends raved about the atmosphere, the food and the service. I would highly recommend Cypress whether it is just for a night out or for an important family occasion! read more

I just want to first off say, this was so bad I created a Yelp account to leave a review. I've ordered from them twice now and both times were flavorless, over cooked and OVER PRICED. The first time we got the lamb which was okay but again over cooked and a little lacking in flavor especially for what we paid and we got a seafood mix over linguine. Worst shrimp and the calamari was literally like rubberbands. This time we went with the wings and a greek salad (paid $5 extra for grape leaves). There was nothing to the salad ($13), just cheap lettuce, two pieces of feta and 2 olives. We also had the worst wings I've ever cut my gums on. Little sauce, no flavor and overcooked. $100 gone between the two meal. I will never get food from here again. I only leave 2 stars because the staff was really nice and fast. read more

Not such a good experience last night. Mushroom soup was over the top loaded with salt. Too bad because it could have been delicious with restraint on the salt shovel. (You can always add salt, but no way to remove too much.) Four of five entrees served on time. Last one never got to the kitchen because of a computer glitch. Shrimp and mussels over pasta. Took about 20 mins to serve once problem was detected. Shrimp were hard and pasta was dry. Hard to believe these results from a working commercial kitchen. A home kitchen with water already boiling could have delivered a better meal in way less than 20 minutes! Of the four meals delivered on time, two were very salty, one not exactly as stated in menu and the last was fine, but protein size was quite modest. Server apologized for lost entree and offered bottle of wine as management apology. Since opening, this place had been inconsistent in food quality and service. Sometimes great, other times awful, sometimes mediocre. And yet I understand the family running it has a long history of restaurant success in other places. Can't figure it out. They've been open long enough to have stabilized everything. Probably our last visit here. Won't risk another adventure like this one. read more

We went here for a happy hour arriving around 4:30. One other couple was there ratting with their jackets on ! This is a very bad sign! The published happy hour prices tell u the discount of 2.00 off of beers, maybe 3.00 off of wine etc. What they don't tell you are the actual prices, that you calculate after you get your beer I suppose. Our bartender was nice, friendly and attentive. But at the end , a tad rude letting us know he wanted to check out now and because we were chatting with each other, began to speak loudly to the new bartender about how he was just waiting to close out this last customer ! Seriously rude we thought- still gave a decent tip. The food was also decent, we had calamari and zucchini fries and both were great! The one thing that got to me was the absolutely filthy ladies room, the kid of dust that has been there forever, the sink not wiped for days- faucets dull and mirror foggy! We were gone from there by 5:30 so it wasn't because of the crowd, no one was there on a Friday! Also the temp outside was 17 degrees. At some point some brain surgeon felt it was appropriate to open the inside French doors to bring in a table and gave absolutely no consideration for the patrons. This is work that should've been done prior to our arrival. Unacceptable! It the little things that matter Cypress !!! read more

Bugs in drinks (after being brought to bartender's attention), multiple items unavailable from menu, food cooked incorrectly, stale dessert, and terrible manager....was too busy to come to table and refused to talk when we approached her on way out. They said outside was heated- some were not working. It's was cold. The service extremely slow. No menu until 15 minutes after sitting down. After 20 minutes still waiting for the bread. The oysters were the tiniest. My opinion go somewhere else. read more

I have to tell you about a pretty bad experience we Had at Cypress restaurant tonight. I tried to talk with the owner who was there,.but in the middle of talking with her, she had to run off to bring back a dinner that was order wrong ( as was mine), and never came back to talk to us ! ( unbelievable) which I why I am posting this review. The waitress who at first was nice, got and instant attitude when I asked her if is was customary for this restaurant to serve a filet mignon butterflied ( and then grilled again after it was butterflied ! ) She replied " I do not eat meat so I do not know" So I said can you please ask the chef. ( she did not ) We asked for it done medium and it was very well done. Not one spot of pink and it was very dry. But..to not make a scene...my mother ate it. Then,..I ordered Chicken Parmigiana. Only it was a layer of eggplant parmigiana on top of chicken parmigiana. ?? When I asked our waitress about this...asking if this is the way they make their Chicken Parmigiana,..she replied " I don't know,..I never ate that before " ! Seriously ? I said yes,..it you should know how the dish is prepared. With that she said " I dont cook the food " and stormed off. Again...SERIOUSLY ? But it tasted good and fortunately I do like eggplant as well. ( and Id be afraid to send anything back to a kitchen ) I understand mistakes happen,..But then you own it and apologize for it. You don't get a bad attitude ( as Nina(?) did ) and when your patrons talk to the Owner, and she runs away in the middle of the conversation and doesn't comeback ?? Then what do you do...You pay..you leave and you never return. There were 2 other tables around us that were also unhappy. One man returned his salmon because it was literally well done and burnt. Another table got the wrong meal and the same waitress had an attitude with them. So..it wasnt just us that was unhappy tonight and it wasnt just us that will probably not be coming back. read more

Have been here many, many times. Most Friday nights this out my boyfriends and my first choice. Amazing authentic Greek cuisine! Always a pleasure with the bartenders, and servers. Most recently they started having live bands on Friday and Saturday nights. Nice change from the everyday bars around here. Would highly recommend a visit here! read more

Awful. Don't bother. Rude uncaring owners. Broken plates and chipped wine carafes. Food terrible, 90 minutes wait for our dinner in a completely empty restaurant. Then the fish is cold and salad is all stems. Saganaki brick hard, surf n turf with a 5oz filet that was supposed to be 8 oz. scallops like rubber. Owners should stick to their diner, don't know the first thing about a nice restaurant. There's a reason your empty for dinner on Mother's Day! Amazing restaurant! This place has an amazing atmosphere and in the warmer weather I recommend sitting in the outdoor seating as it is beautifully arranged. You instantly feel cozy and comfy when you walk in. My personal favorite spot is by the fireplace but anywhere you sit is great. The bar is beautiful and the drinks are made perfect. Theo, the owner is very friendly and attentive to all his guests' needs. The wait staff was very polite and all our orders came out exactly as ordered. The food was absolutely phenomenal. I ordered the sea bass and I can honestly say that it was the best sea bass I have ever tasted. Very flavorful and moist. I love going there and I am never disappointed. I recently hosted my sister's wedding shower at Cypress back in February and could not be more impressed with the service, food, and overall atmosphere! Prior to the shower, Katie and George were both extremely accommodating and easy to work with. They answered every question and even guide me through different options of food and set up. The shower was held in the upstairs room which was beautifully set up prior to the bridal party's arrival for set up. If it wasn't winter, we would have also been able to use the outside deck area for the party as well. Throughout the night, the waiting staff was prompt and friendly to work with. We decided to go with the buffet food option, which included a few appetizers, salad, a choice of meats/pasta, and cake for dessert. I had my bridal shower here this past weekend and I absolutely recommend it for a party or just dinner/drinks! The patio is gorgeous, very spacious and the perfect set up for a party or date night! All my guests were raving about the food and drinks (especially the jalapeño margaritas). The food came out hot and on time. It was delicious! The staff was extremely attentive the entire party. I went with my husband and daughter. We had a reservation for a table outside. We were seated and immediately noticed a strong smell of mulch. We should have asked to be moved but didn't want to make a fuss. The food was mediocre. Calamari a bit chewy. I got wine but was never offered another. No refill on water. Pizza was ok. My husband got rigatoni. Again just eh. 20 minutes into dinner having our appetizers we realized we had been seated directly next to an area where a band had started coming in to set up. One of the speakers was only a few feet behind my daughter. Not the best set up for a nice outside dinner with my family. We knew we would not be able to hold a conversation so asked to be moved. We were denied this. There were 2 tables open in the back and someone recently was moved (probably due to the mulch smell) . My husband brought up the fact that there were 2 open tables and they just moved someone else. Nope he was told those tables were "reserved". Not sure how that is a problem since we were swapping tables. We spoke to the manager and she said she had nothing to offer us. She said she would tell the band to play quieter lol. We didn't want to continue to make a fuss but she knew we were not happy and didn't even offer anything to compensate for customer dissatisfaction. Then while eating we get a lovely smell of a cigar smoker right outside the eating area by his car. No fault of the restaurant but just added to our discontent. Cypress Tavern review: guess a good bar /music place but I would not recommend going for dinner. Started with a bad cocktail for one of our guests, went to dirty wine glasses, wet glasses, incorrect meals, and 1/3 the table served before the rest of the table with no clue about what was going on. Excuse: the kitchen is really busy! Well sorry it's Saturday night and you advertised entertainment?! Anyway - we have choices... we will choose differently next time. PS.
