Sorry, this is not my cup of tzatziki. A lot of my family likes this place and, sure, there's not a lot of Greek in the area to compete. My thoughts: + Good bang for your buck. Solid on ingredients and meats. + Very nice service. They gave us a free dessert with our order. - Not a lot of flavor. Even the regular gyro, which smells wonderful, doesn't taste out of the ordinary. Avgolemono soup did not really have lemon. On the plus side, the lemon potatoes were a hit all around. + The spanakopita was crunchy crust with soft interior. ---------- The rice pudding, in my mind, had no flavor and was overstuffed with gigantic overcooked rice. The worst I've ever had. Yet the rest of my family seemed to like it?! So I just can't even. I'm not eating here again but I won't fault others who do. It's a choice, you like what you like, and again, the service was very friendly to us. But I will keep going the extra miles to Thavma in Livingston for my high quality taste. read more

Not sure what happened but ordered the following for pick up and was disappointed. Everything looked great... until we started to eat. Falafel platter with soup, fries and came with a pita. (2/5) Pita was SO HARD and stale like when you microwave a piece of bread too long. Falafel was ok but borderline frozen vibes. The fries were also soggy so maybe not the best for takeout. Soup was piping hot and tasted ok but thicker than I expected and the orzo and chicken were overcooked. So sad. Lamb-beef gyro pita (2/5) Meat was overcooked and again the pita was hard as a rock.... Sadly for the price just not worth it. We have other options in Fairfield and beyond for more quality. read more

I had high hopes for this restaurant. I was excited to try the gyro. Upon entering restaurant the decor is very modern and staff is welcoming. They have Greek grocery items near front entrance. There are tables and chairs for dining in. Parking is limited as there is street parking and in the back parking lot which is small. The kitchen is open and you are able to view staff preparing food. I watched as my gyro was being prepared and meat is not cut fresh from the spic the worker took the previously cut meat from a warmer. The meat is dry and lacks flavor. The portion is generous. The pita was dry as well and hard on the edges. Taziki sauce was OK . This was my first time trying this restaurant and I won't be returning. read more

Four and a half stars for Greek takeout. Clean, bright space with a Mediterranean vibe. Plenty of tables are available. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table of choice. I had the pork souvlaki sandwich. It was better than average for sure. The meat was tender and flavorful. Could have used a bit more tzatziki and tomatoes. But it was fine. My wife ordered the beef and lamb gyro platter which includes a generous portion of meat. A small Greek salad. Fries and a pita. It was very good. My only small knock is they don't offer any all lamb items. But that's OK. I will definitely dine at Gyro World again. read more

Wow! Just wow! I stopped into Gyro World tonight for their soft opening. I was greeted by so many wonderful employees. I was offered a sample of spinach or cheese pie. The spinach pie was delicious. It was hot and full of flavor. I ordered my food to go and it was exactly as I ordered. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our Beef and Lamb Gyro sandwiches. The meat was incredibly soft and tender. There was the perfect amount of tzatziki in the sandwiches too. Now that our gyros have been consumed, it's time to tackle dessert. Thanks to the crew at Gyro World!! we have ordered takeout here a few times but today was disappointing. an order of hot wings for $14 should be better than the 6 tiny ones we received. that's $2.30 per wing. while we understand that the majority of the menu is greek but if you are going to offer wings as an option they need to meet their price point. we also ordered a gyro and a salad with bifteki which were good. based upon our experience it may be advisable to remove the hot wings from the menu. read more

First time we stopped in this weekend and this place by far is the best Greek food I had. Amazing. I was excited! The pictures featured here are lunchbox meals. The chicken is so fresh, delicious and juicy and love my lemon potatoes and salad. Oh my! The beef and lamb along with rice and salad are delicious as well. I had a large chuck of tiropita (cheese pie), the Gyro (pronounced "jiro" not "giro") platter, and topped it off with, of course, a piece of baklava. Top shelf stuff!! The cost of what I ordered was reasonable and well-worth the food that I ordered. The staff is personable, polite, and helpful. The atmosphere is very pleasant and allows for a good amount of folks to eat-in. The service was quick, and my to-go order was well packaged. Cute spot, modern decor and casual atmosphere. Tried a few items. Gyro trio, falafel, and a few other gyros. Gyro trio is a nice sampler to try the different meats. Chicken soup was nice and hot, texture was nice thick but not overwhelming, wished it has a bit more lemon and maybe pepper but comforting on a cold day. We just had Gyro World in Caldwell cater out party in Livingston NJ. The food was amazing! A huge hit! Chicken kebabs were generous, moist and perfectly seasoned. Came with a generous amount of seasoned rice too. Everything came fresh and hot! Food was beautifully packed too. Moved to the area this fall and have been waiting to try this place due to the reviews. Ordered over the phone and picked up the order. I asked if the tzatziki sauce is in the bag. I should have checked because I ordered a platter and a gyro and there was none in my order at all. I called them and I live about 2 miles up the road so they delivered it to me which was nice but also took some time as you can imagine. So unfortunately I had to eat soggy pita and lemon potatoes and had to reheat everything which made it taste 3 star at best sadly. Have been hearing amazing things about Gyro World! What an amazing addition to the Caldwells. Decided to come in on a Saturday night. It wasn't too busy so we decided to eat there instead of ordering take out. We ordered a few appetizers and two platters. Our food came out quickly and we enjoyed every last bite! The halloumi appetizer was my absolute favorite... I even got my picky eater husband to enjoy it! Although part of our order came out incorrectly, the staff corrected it without any questions asked. They were attentive to our needs throughout our meal. The platters are HUGE - would definitely recommend sharing but we did not complain ... we got to try two different meats. I really enjoyed the soup that I got too .. can see myself coming up to a pick up a bowl when I'm not feeling well :) They don't serve their whole menu (we wanted an order of hot wings but they didn't have yet). Gyro World was authentically Greek cuisine. There are very few Greek restaurants in the area. We had the Greek Salad which was amazing. the owner was delightful and staff really knew what they were doing. The atmosphere was divine with the Greek marketplace in the background. This quick service restaurant has outstanding food, friendly service and a charming dining space. I had the Greek salad with chicken pita wrap. The chicken was moist and the salad ingredients were incredibly fresh and tasty. There was also a nice piece of stuffed grape leaf tucked inside. My husband declared his chicken gyro the best he's had in years. My mother-in-law thoroughly enjoyed her falafel pita. They gave us small samples of very refreshing rice pudding to end our meal. Probably the worst gyro I've ever had in my life. Because it was expensive i ate about half but could not do it and the rest is in the garbage. With a name like Gyro World, I expected it to be amazing but the exact opposite. The chicken in my gyro is shredded chicken leg which I am not a fan of. The seasoning was terrible and salty. It comes all separately, so you have to put it together and there's nothing to help you keep it together so everything keeps falling out of the pita. The pita bread tasted stale and they only put 1 piece of the corner of the tomato. what a waste of $20 read more
