AMAZING. I don't know what happened to the other reviewers but the technician here was great! I had previously taken my car to a smog place in Artesia, CA (11646 Artesia Blvd) and the techs there didn't know what the hell they were doing and basically ripped me off (you can read why on their yelp page). They told me my timing was way off so I took it to my mechanic. Mechanic said it was dead on ! Went back to the Artesia place and they still said it was off. So, I decided to try my luck here because my grandpa brought both of his cars here. At first I was going to get charged almost $80.00 for my car (because it's super old and needs an evap test) BUT I found a coupon for a 30$ smog check and it cost about 50$ after that and the technician was super nice. He did the check in less than 30 minutes and was very efficient. Said my car passed and that the other place didn't know what they were doing! Definitely gonna be coming back here next time! I went to this place today (02/15/2014) to get my 2001 Ford ZX2 smogged and I had a horrible experience. I initially called the place before driving down there. I spoke to the technician and right off the bat he gave me an estimate of $50 plus, not including the smog certificate. I told him to wait and I advised him that I had an online coupon for $29.75. The tone of the technician's voice immediately changed as if I took some money from him. The technician then advised me that the total amount including the smog certificate would be $41.80. I then got off the phone and my wife asked what happened. I told my wife that they sound like "THIEVES." Upon my arrival, I was met by the cashier in the parking lot and he told me to come in and sit down. The cashier then proceeded to fill out the paperwork with the pricing. The cashier handed me the clipboard and he told me to fill out my name, address, and signature at the bottom. (The cashier told me nothing else) I looked at the pricing to make sure everything added up with the quote I received over the phone, which was $41.80 including the certificate. The technician then worked on my vehicle for approximately 30 minutes and he advised me that my Ford did not pass due to the computers monitoring system. The technician showed me the paperwork that my emission system all passed, but I failed the computer reading portion. The technician told me to drive the car for approximately 20 miles plus and the vehicle's computer system should have a second reading, come back for a re-test, and my vehicle should pass. I said "Okay, I can do that." He then told me to pay the cashier for the test, but not the fee for the certificate. I approached the cashier and he explained to me that an additional $24.75 was going to be charged upon my return for the re-test plus the fee for the certificate. I was beside myself upon hearing this and I felt disqustingly violated. Beware and stay away from this business. They are unethical and they prey on consumers. The technician had the nerve of taking my car keys and refused to hand them over until I paid for the test. I stood my ground and I advised them that I was not paying the $24.75 re-test fee because I was not told about the fee prior to signing the contract. My wife checked their website and it clearly states that a re-test is free!!! (My wife also took a picture of their website) Finally, the owner hesitantly stepped in and stated that the re-test will be free upon my return. The owner did not apologize and he walked away stating that I should have assumed that a fee was implied for a re-test. read more

Got my smog check at this location because it was convenient. It's the closest to my boyfriend's house. Took a little longer than expected, and I've seen cheaper prices elsewhere. He did help us put a new bulb in one of the head lights though. read more

I had called the day before for Saturday service, I asked if I needed an appointment because I was bringing my 26 ft RV 09 Ford truck in for smog. And asked for a quote. He said 60 Total encluded the cert. I arrived and reminded him I spoke with him yesterday. He was busy with one RV and I was next. When he brought me the paperwork it said 98.00 wow I reminded him that I had spoke with him and he qouted 60. Bucks. He said No that was for smaller cars. And it takes 30 min for RV verses 15 for cars. I timed it & it took 15 mins. And asked that he at least honer his coupon for $20 off. Nope I showed him there were no exclusions on the coupon. He gave a $10 discount. He had already Started my smog. So he had me by my hubcaps. Also he did not send the certificate to the DMV as promised. I had gone to the Ralph's DMV kiosk across the street. Waited 20 mins. Well my tags are paid for but it noted encomplete had to be smogged. But did not give my tag Very disappointed in these people not honoring the quote and or coupon. Will not go here again. Wish I had read the reviews, truly not a negative person. But also really do not like lied to. read more

I have been using Cypress Union Smog for years. The technician and cashier have always been friendly and professional. Smog check is done in a timely manner. A couple of years ago my car didn't pass intital smog check I took to mechanic who replaced the egr valve and pass smog successfully. Complete rip off!!! Said propane was $3.59 and gallon. Tank took 4.4 gallons. Girl told me the charge was a flat $20. $18.56 plus $1.44 tax. That works out to about $3.98 a gallon plus tax. Definitely a rip off! read more

This place deserves negative stars and hopefully will soon be out of business. Went to get my truck smoged last week. Needless to say it was the worst decision I've ever made and a major headache. The workers here are rude, incompentment, and just plain stupid. I explained to him my truck has an air intake system and is California legal, plus I showed him the carb sticker. He said I should pass no promblem. Well 30 minutes later I failed. Side note ( I was the only person here, they are very slow and they eat food while you wait and take smoke breaks which is ridiculous since it's also a gas station.) The rude worker felt it was illegal because the intake was made for trucks 2004 - 2006. My truck is a 2007 and for that only reason I failed. I know for a fact my system is carb legal and my truck is exactly the same as the previous models. I explained this to him and I got an arrogrant loud respnse "put the factory system back on for retest and come back then you will pass" BTW no free retest you have to pay again which is absurd. He just wanted more money he didn't care at all he smiled multiple times like he accomplished having me fail. I decided to go elsewhere because he was so rude a such a smartass. I knew he was full of shit the moment I saw his face. Well this time I used yelp and found a great place in Long Beach that had fantastic reviews plus free retest! I decided to try it and guess what I passed with no issues! In n out in 10 minutes! And the service was great something cypress union needs. Anyways I went back to cypress union and demanded for a refund and he refused. He laughed and smiled " no refunds" he thought it was hilarious that I went somewhere else instead of coming back to this dump. I well never do business here again. The technician is a champion of the State of CA bureaucracy. He failed my car even though it passed the emissions test. He claimed the catalytic converter does not have the correct part number on it. I just bought the car and the previous owner must have put on an aftermarket part on it. How was I supposed to know? After the technician saw that it passed the emissions test, he proceeded to go and look for correct numbers on the emissions parts on the vehicle. It would be understandable if the vehicle FAILS the emissions test and then you go on looking at the emissions parts on the vehicle. Isn't the point of the CA SMOG check to keep the air clean by getting the polluting cars off the road? Clearly California SMOG check is not merely about that. It is also about keeping the right part numbers on the obviously well-functioning emissions system! Now I have to go and spend some $600 to put in the "correct" catalytic converter so that my car would achieve the same emissions test result of PASS! Our champion technician was so arrogant and proud of his work. There was not a hint of doubt in his eyes that he had done the right thing. The perfect soldier marching to the order! I am sure he is to be applauded by the BAR/CARB bureaucrats who put into law that having the correct-numbered emissions parts in a vehicle is somehow required even when the vehicle's emission is well-under the acceptable threshold. Somewhere along the line these people lost sight of what they set out to do. Clean air is what they were after, but costing the consumers unnecessary expense became their objective. And to that end they have gotten themselves a champion SMOG Check technician. Congratulations! So if you are the "letter of the law" type of person that would like to have your car SMOG tested by having the technician apply the letter of the law unto your vehicle, this is the place for you. You may end up spending $$$ on parts that do not affect your car's emissions profile. But you and the technician will both have a satisfying time. But if you are hoping you could save time and money while getting your SMOG certificate, this is not the place for you. Did I mention they also charge you for the re-test? read more

Very kind and courteous and helped me out quick. I realized in the past that all places charge extra for suv's not just this place. Overall a good experience and very helpful. . Dont take your car in if its a nice car, they will give you a price based on that. I was quoted almost 3x the advertised price. They offered to lower the price after I started driving away, didnt like they were trying to take advantage so went else where. Goto an honest place like Super Smog on Beach blvd. I went into cypress union gas station and got taken advantage of by the bald technician guy which his name is Elias nasri. I left my 1990 ford ranger there for about an hour, when I came back he told me that the truck had failed at the very end of his test, the no (ppm) nitrogen was off on the 25 mph test. Which on his paper he marked the catalytic converter had passed, go figure!. So I thot ok i didnt have to pay since it didn't pass.. was I wrong. He told me the smog check was $84.75. I couldn't believe my ears..I feel like I was extremely taken advantage of, with just not my failed test but the outrageous price I payed for a failed smog check. I haven't heard of anything more than $50 with no coupon. If you don't want to pay an arm or leg for a basic smog test don't come to cypress union gas station on Bloomfield & ball in cypress... Elias nasri is a crook and I don't recommend anyone going there for a smog test.. read more

Fraudulent! Deceiving ! Very Un- American! The guy saw there was something that was peculiar to him so without asking me what's going on he preceded to fail me by visual inspection. You see these stations must fail a certain amount of people a month to be "star certified". Any American would of not even tried to do a smog but would say something "like bring car back since your reader is clear and then I can perform test." He wanted the quick 40 bucks(thank God I had a coupon or they would of con d 55). Don't go there ! I bet there gas machines are not of permit and there scratchers are picked at by there employees( seen lady buy five in a row, lost, go back to car to get more money and magically the next ticket was sold? Yet no new customers. Please don't give these crooks business. People like this aren't American, they steal from you to benefit their shop. I will investigate because I know this place passes illegally who they want. I have friends and ill figure that out. read more

The smog test station is a rip off. When I got there they said the charge was $54.75 plus $8.25 for the smog certificate. When I complained, they said they would offer a $12 discount making my total $51. When I came home and went on the internet to see what average costs should be, I found they had a coupon for $27.95. I then asked friends what they paid and they said $38. I am appalled I was charged or should I say overcharged. I implore you not to use this facility and to check around before you fall for this overcharge. read more
