Recently had my dog's teeth cleaned and 3 warts removed here. It was done and I took my pet home to recover from the anesthesia which she did in about 2-3 hours. Gave all the antibiotics ordered and pain meds for 1-2 days as needed. Everything is healing well and she is much relieved from licking and biting the wart she could reach! Do not go here, do not bring your cat here if it is anything beyond something simple. The vet and receptionist guy are HORRIBLE. Our cat had developed a swollen cheek, and we took her there to get it checked. We thought it was an abscess due to gum issues. We kept bringing her back because despite the antibiotics given, it was not going down. The last time we took her in, they told us "this is just her face" and that "we care about our cat too much." Seriously, that doesn't make any sense. How is that just her face. Her normal cheek looks completely different. Also, last time I checked, isn't this a vet clinic... where people bring their pets because they care about them? The vet told us she did x-rays and didn't think it was a tumor. The receptionist guy claimed there was puss in her mouth over the phone (making us think it was just infection). When we picked her up on her last visit, the vet picked her up by her scruff 2 times, holding her practically above her head, to show me it didn't hurt her? Definitely inappropriate and unnecessary. I think she enjoyed the shock on my face honestly. Then, she started rubbing her hands all over my cat's face, asking me if it looked like it hurt her! Keep in mind, my cat is the sweetest scaredy cat ever, and has never fought back, scratched, or bit a person ever. This was also a completely inappropriate thing to do. There are other complaints I could list, but I want to stay on the most obscene. We took our cat to two other vets for their opinions because after that last visit, we knew we couldn't rely on pet check up for proper animal care. One vet at a VCA clinic said they would reach out to this location for x-rays, and they never got a response. The last vet we went to gave us a free x-ray. I cannot stress this enough, that x-ray most definitely looked like cancer. The point of that last paragraph is to show that I truly don't think this location did x-rays on my cat, because it was obviously abnormal and distorting her bone. Plus they never replied to the other vet with x-ray records. It's absolutely abhorrent to me that the people here were to be so rude and inappropriate to my family and my cat, especially considering she actually has cancer. It was never "just her face," and we were right to care about her "too much." Please anyone who is reading this or glancing over this, they do not care about your pet like you want them to. Or at the very least, they don't care about providing proper service that they are being paid to give. read more

As I may have mentioned in my bio, I will always write a review that is honest be that good, bad or indifferent. Well this one falls directly into the bad category and has taken a good while for me to decide to write. I run a feral colony in my neighborhood and the last one I had TNR'd seemed just too sweet to be completely "feral" I mean seriously he head butted me when I turned him loose from his recovery mansion! I knew right then he was adoptable , but he took off. But as fate would have it I trapped him again while trying to catch an injured possum made me think he just wasn't cooked all the way, he has since proven this to be a fact So I made an appointment at Pet check up to get him tested for FELV/FIV to find out his status and see where to place him. He did test positive for FIV so I decided that he's mine now Now to the meat of the review. I scheduled an appt for an official meet and greet with the Dr as the clinic is literally right around the corner and my previous vet is about 30 minutes away. So I get to my appt fresh poop sample in a bag, gotta make sure there aren't any uninvited freeloaders! Dr comes in doesn't even bother to introduce herself just promptly asks "What are you here for" in one of the rudest tones I've ever heard (and I've heard a lot!) and she should have already known why I was there. So I just politely told her, say the poop sample on the table and said it's less than 20 minutes old, this is where the real problem with this "Vet" started... she asked "what's THAT for?" To check for worms and her answer almost made me ask if she really knew what she was doing! She said "If he had worms you would see them in his poop" yeah maybe one or two types and that only if it's an extremely bad case of them! Second issue.... This boy was a mature Tom when he got the big snip and clip, so his jowls where massive, picture Marlon Brando in the "Godfather" she stood there and tried to tell me that he wasn't gonna lose those jowls... they're gone. And then just turned around and walked out of the room.... Are. You. Kidding. Me?! Now I honestly don't know if she was just trying to show off her superiority because she was told I was a vet tech for over twenty years or not, but if she was... That is NOT the way to do it! I'm now driving 30 minutes each way, on a good day, to go see my old vet and it's worth it! The one star is only because you can't give zero! read more

Please be aware. Make sure to be specific on what you need from this vet. Otherwise you will be charged for all kinds of things you did not ask for. And don't use anything but cash or you will be charged 3% extra. And they do not care. This was my fourth cat that I have taken to this vet. Unfortunately she's having to nickel and dime everybody and I will not be back. She does not care about her reputation, or repeat customers. And be aware of the pitbull that sits at the front desk. He has no personality and he could care less who you are. read more

I give this place 5 stars! The Dr. is very personable. She answers her own phones! I had a question in regards to my chameleon, she answered very honestly and invited me to come to the office. I brought my chameleon so she could look it over. She gave me a few suggestions and said she was not well-versed in this species and I should try to find someone who is. She didn't even charge me for her time! (This is a rarity in this day and age.) This is my new vet for l I will be bringing all my animals to her. What a wonderful person and office. Always so sweet and attentive to my little rescue. She is afraid of men so Dr. Hudson always has women work with her. She says its like when you are a kid and dread going to the doctor because you are afraid you are going to get a shot. She wants my precious little girl to be comfortable and said she will get acclimated to men in her own time. We've been using Dr. Hudson for more than a decade. Her services are honest and reasonable. We are very happy taking our pets for shots and procedures and not having to take out a loan to pay for them! And she is an Aggie and we all know Aggies are the best vets! Regarding bedside manner, Dr. Hudson is very busy, but always kind and gives options for treatment. We've never known her to be excessively chatty, but that is just her personality. As far as the staff, they too are busy - we figure Dr. Hudson runs a tight ship! If you are friendly and show interest, they respond accordingly:-) What procedures has she performed on our dogs: - removed a tumor from a leg; - neutered and spayed; - microchipped; - removed baby teeth; - removed extra toes; - stitched up a groin (emergency... dog and squirrel got into it) When we acquired a puppy a year ago, we thought it might have kennel cough. She told us to bring the dog to the clinic and she sent a tech out to the car to listen to the dog. She refused to let us bring the dog in because kennel cough is highly contagious. I would think as a pet owner you would appreciate that kind of knowledge and concern. The other reason I give Dr. Hudson, her staff, and Pet Check Up five stars is because they have more compassion for abandoned animals than anyone I've ever known. She always always takes in animals that nobody else wants, examines them, and gives medication before re-homing. Is the clinic the newest, state of the art facility? No, but it's the people inside not the structure that make this place a true gem. read more

I tried to schedule a Csection for my dog and the person i talk to over the phone every time i call act like a little Bit**. He said they not taking new client. Are they running business or they dont want to have a business? I called several times with different periods and they still not taking new client. I ask to speak to the Dr. and he said i dont need to. I ask to speak to different person beside him. He said is a manager. A manager doesn't try to help. He not even want to get my contact for future business. A csection is not cheap and he just ignored my call. 3 months before the first time i called and they still swamped with existing client? Or he just doesn't want to take in new client? Bad business practiced! Bad manager! Bad bad bad!!!! read more

Dr. Hudson and her staff have been caring for our dogs for more than 15 years. Their prices are very reasonable and they don't charge for unnecessary procedures. Two years ago we moved 20 minutes away, and found that the vets in our new area are charging almost 3x more for some procedures. The offices are nothing fancy, but are adequate. I will take moderate if it keeps the costs down. You can tell when people really like your animals, and I feel it when we show up for visits. They greet us by name, are happy to see us, and it shows. For all of these reasons, we continue to drive back to Pet Checkup for our animal care. read more

Wanted to put my cat down for anal prolapse. Was vicious about it. She failed at a simple surgery and got angry when I called back and asked her to redo it even saying I would pay. Dr Hudson told me to come get my cat or she would put her down. I told the vet that saved her what happened and he said Dr Hudson was a total idiot. I agree and urge people not to go here. She runs her practice out of an old tire or automotive shop. Very shady looking. Staff was garbage as well. Stay away if you know what's best for your pets! I had a guy thank me for my review on google about it and he told me she killed his dog. She has four formal complaints against her and has violated her duties as a vet per vet board FOUR times. If you are the only one that can diagnose an animal, then why are the people working for you giving out medication? That does not make sense, that is on you, not me. I wasn't trying to tell her she's wrong, I'm trying to tell her what they told me last time, but her huge ego got in the way and she decided to be a b**ch about it. she did not even know what she was talking about, she kept having to leave to see if what I said about previous visits was true because she was calling me a liar, and guess what, I was right; why would I lie about this, I want my dog to get help. The entire time all they did was tell me I'm wrong and might as well have called me stupid, when they're the ones that told me the information I told them. they are a special kind of stupid, Don't trust these incompetent people with your animals. I also want to add that I'm a young girl and normally I come with my dad. as soon as they figured out they were in the wrong, they sent two people in the room with me and they were standing over me less than two feet away (in a pandemic); this have never happened when my dad was with me, and they only did it once she realized she was wrong. Trying to intimidate a younger person so you can attempt to manipulate them into giving in to you is vile. not only are you a bad vet, but you're trash human beings. We love dr Hudson. Her surgical work is precise and closed cleanly. She is reasonable on pricing and thorough in her exams. I appreciate her no nonsense approach and can see clearly that she wants veterinary care to be accessible in the interest of the welfare of the animals. A different vet quoted me $870 for a small surgical procedure that Dr. Hudson did for $120. Another review mentioned her having four complaints with the veterinary board. She has been licensed for over 25 years so I would say a complaint every six years is a pretty impressive record that puts her in a positive light. read more

I questioned her 2x about what I knew the problem was, but she informed me that I was wrong. Well, I was right from the getgo. Problem is, he died. I had taken my dog to have her fixed to this clinic. Needless to say 2 weeks later my dog died in my husbands arms in the middle of my daughters baby shower. From the time I got her home from her surgery, she wasn't the same. A week after her surgery, I had to take her back because she was very sick. 300.00 later I took her home, had to give her a shot, which I had never done in my life, IV fluids also. I followed every step they told me too. She started to bounce back and then it was like a switch went off and she died. How does a perfectly healthy dog go to get fixed and 2 weeks later be dead. I am waiting for her ashes to come home so I can bury her. read more

She took a terrible day in my mother's life, the day my mother knew it was time to put her 16 year old dog to sleep, and made it much worse than it needed to be. Her inconsiderate comments made over the phone were enough to make us take my mother's dog elsewhere for the procedure, even though my mother has been a client of Dr. Hudson's for over 15 years. Our family will seek quality veterinary care elsewhere. This woman is rude, condescending, and does not deserve the business. Her staff is also inconsiderate and unorganized. I boarded my English Bulldog at Pet Check-Up recently. Needless to say she wasn't there long. The girl that helped me when I arrived was very kind and I helped her get Lexie in her kennel, but the other girl informed me that if my dog didn't stop barking that she was going to be sedated. That the doctor orders it to be done. I couldn't believe my ears! My dog is almost 9 years old and sedation could kill her. I told her that no one is sedating my dog. She could've cared less and continued to tell me that's how it is...she said "you might as well take your dog home then." I told her my dog isn't a barker and would calm down shortly. She was so uncaring and cold concerning ANY regard for my dog. I was leaving town and called a friend who came over within 30 minutes to get her out of there. She was panting so hard when they arrived and had to have cold compresses placed on her. This is completely unacceptable. I would think leaving my beloved girl with her vet was the safest place she could be...I was wrong. They have lost me as a client. read more
