Ok so, let's get into this. Iight boom so, I was pretty angry after placing and order through Uber Eats and waiting and hour and 15 minutes to call and be told "your order hasn't been put in yet". So of course I'm furious. I drive al but 2 minutes to give these people a piece of my mind. Back story. This is the 3rd time this error has occurred, but by far THE WORST. I walk in to be greeted but the usual pretty young English woman as per usual and I ask to speak to the manager. WELP! I explain my issue and asked, "how can this situation be rectified?" He returns with "I wish I could give you 50% off your bill, but you prepaid. Would you like a drink? Actually would you like 2?". Mind you, my meal was 18. Czen has the potential to be a gem, but they really need to work on their service. I hate to say it but it's terrible! I went there three time in hopes that it would get better, but unfortunately, that was not the case. The food, drinks, and ambience is wonderful, but it took close took over an hour for my food to arrive. I thought that the first time was it was because it was. busy night at a new restaurant, the second time there was a large party there as well, and the last time was a random chill Wednesday night. I love this place. I order one time a week! Only downfall is their Uber delivery will be turned on and they do not accept orders, their Toast delivery will be off and you have to pickup and their seamless and DoorDash never has a full menu! Stopped by because I was in the neighborhood and the outside looked inviting. When we walked in, we were very impressed with the decor. We were greeted right away and got a table even though they had 2 large groups and we had no reservations. They brought plantain chips to the table which impressed me because my fiancee and I have a pet peeve about Caribbean restaurants never providing anything to snack on while you wait for your food. The service was good, waitress was very attentive, but the food took forever to arrive. However, I was again impressed because the owner stopped by several times to apologize for the wait and gave us additional plantain chips. The food was pretty good once it arrived. My experience at CZEN was a good one. From the moment you walk in they follow all Covid guidelines to ensure that their customers are safe during these crazy times. My waitress ANAYA was great her customer service was outstanding and her knowledge and feedback when I asked her about the drinks and the foods on the menu was very helpful for my selection. So last Saturday I came out for my sisters birthday. The restaurant seemed new and hot. So was looking forward to it. Got there and yea amazing ambiance but wasn't at all organized. My reservations was at 9:30 my party came at 9:28. When we arrived we were told we had to wait 30 minutes because people were running late and they got back up. Fine. But then I guess the owner came and fixed everything and sat down after 45 mins. We sat at the table for 15 mins with no menus. The owner came back and asked if we ordered I explained to him that we haven't even received menus yet. Overall I'm giving the a restaurant a three for not being organized but the food was good. I orderd mussels and the shrimp czen rolls. The food is was okay very overhyped. The czen rolls tasted like they were out sitting for hours before they came to my table. The roll was so big and i had no chopsticks to eat them with, I asked for soy sauce and definitely didnt get that which makes me wonder why they sell sushi without being prepared for customers to eat it. it must be an incredibly tough time to open and operate a restaurant, but czen is doing everything right. i live nearby and have been twice (both for outdoor dining) and will definitely go again - i've always left feeling well fed and less stressed (important in these times lol). to begin - the service and ambiance are great. i most recently went with a friend who also lives in the area, and he shared that he passes czen on the bus and thought it looked good, but never had the opportunity to drop by. people at czen are having fun, and the staff are all super nice (shout out to julian, who has honest and great recs and is always checking in to make sure you're having a good meal). they also take all precautions to make guests are safe. i'm not sure of their current set-up, but in milder weather, they had set up booths and required guests to sanitize before going into the indoor area of the restaurant, which was also open to the air, and had a quick, no-contact, and easy process to check temperatures. as for food - some favorites so far: - berry jerk anything (the wings, the short rib! anything that just soaks up the tangy sauce with a kick and slight sweetness from the berry) - shanghai jerk chicken (not much to say - just SO good and so tender. i'd get this again for sure) - five-spiced glazed salmon (i would have not usually ordered this - my parents used to run a seafood market and have set a high bar for cooking fish at home, so it's not the first thing i get when i dine out - but i tried some of my friend's and it was cooked and seasoned really well. it wouldn't be the only thing i'd order at czen, but it's a great counterpart to balance out some of the saltier dishes and holds its own) - marley medley (again, maybe not something i would have thought to order, but a friend chose this and i really enjoyed it! the curry sauce really livens up some of the bite-size pieces of my favorite vegetables [chick pea, sweet potato, pumpkin...]. particularly with udon as our choice of starch soaking up the curry sauce, it was easily one of my favorite entrees. a flavor profile you can't dislike and a good mix of textures and spice.) if i could do my first visit again, i'd probably get one of the first two (for something spicier) and pair it with one of the last two above (the salmon or marley medley). as for sides, i definitely recommend the udon, mixed veggies, and plaintains or fried rice (i think some might have an extra charge, but it's worth it). for the ok: - the dumplings were alright; i'd probably get something else in their place. - for some reason, i can't remember much about the oxtail, and i love oxtail. i don't think it's "eh" - it was good - but i guess it didn't stand out against the really amazing entrees i wrote about above. - sometimes the entrees can be on the saltier side for me, hence the importance of getting something like the salmon or mixed veggies! lastly, tips: - i'm definitely going to try and visit for some of their specials or brunch, as they all look amazing. czen has days for seafood specials and based on how much i liked the salmon, i'd definitely want to try more of their seafood out... anyways, they look REAL good. - the lychee pina colada also added some great sweetness to the meal. i'm not a huge sweets person but again, balance is key here and makes the other things taste even better. try and get a drink with your meal! you deserve it. czen, i'll be back soon! wait for me. read more

I really wanted to like this place but they made it hard. We waited over 2 hours to receive our food and the place wasn't even crowded. By the time I received my food, they decided to substitute 4 wingettes for my quarter of a chicken that was suppose to go with my chicken and waffles. Their excuse was that they ran out of regular chicken. The manager rectified the situation by being extremely apologetic and offered to give me something else on the house. Although it wasn't what I wanted, the French toast was pretty good. I don't like the idea of wear they put the food when it's waiting to be served. They place it on a medal shelf without a heating device to keep the food warm. My other issue was that the drinks took too long and when they were ready, they sat at the bar for over 5 minutes. Although the drinks were very good, they did get watered down a bit. The manager was nice enough to take 25% off of the bill. Would I drive 20 miles again to go to this place, NO. Dope mid sized restaurant located in the cut, you wouldnt think much driving by, but once your inside it has creative ambiance beautiful wall art, clean bathrooms which is often overlooked. The menu is versatile something for almost everyone, i had the oxtail stuffed dumplin which tasted amazing, they got a dope chef, good drinks, and the staff was very quick and attentive. AMAZING the staff is warm and friendly Julian has been my server each time he's been GREAT. The food is EXCEPTIONAL Simply AMAZING. I've been to CZEN a few times since its been open and each time the food is AMAZING. My Favorite Appetizers are the Wings, Fish Cakes, Shrimp Bun, My Favorite Entrees are Surf n Turf OMG the Berry Jerk Beef Rib is delicious I didn't even need a knife to cut it and Glazed Salmon. I'm writing this as I'm here. So far it's been an hour and a half. plus minutes since we ordered. They charge a late/cancellation m reservation. Fee per person. On top of that they charge a COVID fee of up to 10%. It don't make no damn sense. However the servers have been more than accommodating. I'm blaming poor management we waited for and hour plus for drinks. Had. Better time at the restaurant next door. We found out later that we didn't get our drinks because they didn't have clean glasses. The manager wanted us to come to him. Instead of hun coming to us. No food no appetizers. Food is overpriced but good. One particular female server showcased good customer service. But this place gets 2 stars for its bar service. Drinks are overpriced and not made well. Ordered probably the easiest drink to make-- a frozen margarita. It had already melted by the time I picked it up. I requested a remake on-site and the bar staff literally argued with the server regarding the fact they needed to remake a melted frozen margarita! The bartender literally poured the melted drink in a blender and added ice. Once we noticed this we asked for a refund at which point the bartender added more ingredients. Ultimately, the new creation was horrible as expected. Won't come here again. Just had brunch here today (July 26, 2020). We were a party of 12 with a 1:00 P.M. reservation. Once our party arrived we were greeted by one of the owners and the bartender (Tony - we love him! Drinks were amazing). Senora was our waitress and she was kind and patient with us! The food did take a little while to come but it was worth it! Everything was tasty! Didn't want to have to do this. But I felt like I kinda dropped the ball on Valentine's Day coming to Czen. And I hate leaving bad reviews but last night really was bad. First , last night was a prix fixe menu which was not advertised online on their site. Was told at the door when I arrived "tonight is actually a prix fixe menu we will not be served anything that's not on tonights menu. the dinner is $75 each. " Well okay then. We get seated at 8:30pm and a young lady takes our order. We're told that on the prix fixe menu, there's no more sushi rolls , no dessert besides the carrot cake , can only order drinks that's on the menu (which were good ) and you can not swap sides must add/pay separately for additional sides. Our food took forever to come it was almost 10pm when it finally arrived to the table. The young lady apologized and said "sorry there's only two chefs working tonight ". Everything on my plate was different temperatures, my veggies were basically cold. The oxtails were good and the only thing hot on my plate. My rice was MID. For dessert my date ordered the carrot cake and I ordered the red velvet. When she only came out with one dessert I asked about the red velvet cake and that's when she told me about only having one dessert available tonight because "the truck that was supposed to deliver the dessert tonight never came so we only have the carrot cake. Do you want that ?! " Why force a Prix fixe menu on the customers if you're not able to provide most of the things on the menu. And they didn't offer any discounts , no extra drinks. I saw VERY great reviews and decided to dine here as a continued birthday celebration and also to have a little fun before the concert at the Barclay Center. I arrived 15 minutes early and was told I could not be seated until the scheduled reservation time. There were only two tables being occupied at this time. The hostess said we could sit at the bar and she would get us when the time came. We sat at the bar for 14 minutes before the bartender gave us water. There was no one else at the bar. The hostess did not come to us, we had to go to her. Once seated, we waited at our table for 15 minutes where no one came. We watched the hostess, bartender, manager/owner, as well as waiters and waitresses play on their phones. I asked one of the employees walking by if there was a server for our table and he said no. I then went to the hostess to ask her if there was a server for our table and she said she would send someone. I placed an order for a daiquiri. It was extremely watery, but was supposed to be a frozen drink. The appetizers took over 30 minutes to come out. The wings were desert dry and the dumplings had a half teaspoon of filling. Our waitress didn't come back for an hour to check on us. When she did, my cousin ordered soup and I ordered a Coca-Cola. 20 minutes later the soup came out, 30 minutes later I got the Coca-Cola. I forgot I ordered it. I expected so much more from what I saw online, but I was disappointed. Oh, I almost forgot, I ordered the oxtails to go, and I swear there was no meat on the bones. After moving to West Coast, I was craving oxtail so I was excited to try Czen. I was looking forward to spending time with some girlfriends and visiting our friends' new restaurant. Upon arriving, the host quickly seated us. The fist thing I noticed was the decor. The bright ceiling and Asian inspired murals really highlighted the size of the venue. I also liked how large an spacious the bar was- great for watching games on their big screen TV and enjoying a few drinks with friends. I ordered the oxtail dumplings for my appetizer. The presentation was yummy and the food tasted even better. For main course, I ordered...... Oxtail (again). This time the oxtail came with a choice of two sides. The peas and rice/ oxtail were a hit. Along with yummy food, I enjoyed some drinks from a full bar. Overall the service was super attentive and the food was delicious. I wish the appetizer had more dumplings (that's how great they were). At the end of the night, the bill was reasonably priced. I will most definitely be going back.
