Shady, like Hollywod J. and Ryan E. said! I don't know if they tried to scam me or if they really just don't have their ducks in a row. Quoted me $100 on the phone as I said, it looks like the cylinder lock on my car door needs to be replaced. The owner, Norma, scheduled a time the next day to have Fransisco come out. I said, does he have a new cylinder for my car, she ask my model and said she call me right back. She called me back in a minute and said, yes he has it all, and with a new cylinder it'll be $200 total. Fransisco came out the next day - seems like a really nice guy by the way. Took the door lock out in about 30 seconds and said, it was just the cylinder and everything else looks good. Further saying, it should be beneath the quoted price of $200, but he didn't have the cylinder and needed to order one. He took my cylinder and said he'd be back, hopefully that day w/ a new one rekeyed. A few minute later I received a call from Norma. She said my door was all broke, the part is $150, and the total was now $300. "This is a good deal, trust me," she said twice. I thought, hmm, I guess OEM parts are expensive so I looked up the price. OEM cylinder lock was $44 on HondaPartsNow and $10 for shipping. So I called Norma back and told her to forget it. A few days later I received the lock, went to Lowe's to get a screw and plastic plug, which Fransico took with him. I then had it rekeyed for $45 at a reputable locksmith and slid it back in - 2 minutes of work. Now, I don't think $300 is that unreasonable - people need to be paid for their time. But the price discrepancy for the part and the changing quote raises huge red flags. Maybe they would have wanted to charge me even more at the end of the day, I don't know. I like Fransisco and I hope they get this the back end portion of the business straighten out. read more
