We met a friend who was waiting for us at the bar so we stayed there. It is a very nice, two sided bar for seating with plenty of space for food and plates. Service was very attentive and helpful. We ordered fried pickles and a Dag's salad to start. The salad had nice chunks of chicken, cheese and veggies. The balsamic vinaigrette there is the bomb! The pickles were very well breaded so that they did not lose their coating and very crisp. We ordered a large sausage and mushroom pizza and forgot to ask for it to be well done so the inside squares were a bit flabby in the crust. If you love Dag's for the thin crust it is probably better to order two of the smaller size so that each piece is crispy on the bottom. read more

Our party of 6, namely us and the kiddo's and family, returned for Santa's annual one nite appearance here. It's a very popular event, and we got the last two parking spots in their big parking lot for a Sunday evening reservation at 5:45pm. Getting photos with Santa was quick and easy and we did it during the 40 minute pizza prep time. There were no reindeer this time, as there were two years ago but it's not a biggie. I'll go with a 4.49 star rating for our outing. Most of what we had was quite fine except for the medium deep dish with spinach and Italian beef ($29.45). It was overpowered with a bitter spinach taste and the Italian beef was not particularly well mixed in the pie. Everything else we had, which was as follows for the record, was very good and satisfying. - pretzel sticks appetizer, $9.95 - 1/2 lb calamari, $15.95 - kid's cheese pizza, $8.95 - kid's grilled cheese with tator tots, $7.95 - large 16" thin sausage and mushroom pizza, $29.55 - medium 12" deep dish spinach and Italian beef pizza, $29.45 - 22 oz mug of A Little Sumpin' Sumpin' IPA, $8.00 - 22 oz mug of Octoberfest Winter Lager, $7.50 The big and refreshing beers were a great deal btw. Horrible food I was there for a graduation lunch. I ordered chicken Marsala with minestrone soup. Let's start with the soup watery with very little ingredients just awful to call that minestrone. The chicken marsala was overcooked and tough, and the noodles were undercooked and sticky very un appetizing. The sauce covering the dish was an unreduced wine watery no flavor except the strong wine. horrible flavor. Here's a picture of what I didn't eat. My family ordered pizza and it was also an embarrassment to call that pizza bland thin, bad flavors. I would not recommend anything from this restaurant. Love your pizza. My complaint is delivery. I have ordered 3 times using your delivery. Each time the pizza was delivered cold. Not even warm but cold. The same man delivered my pizzas on 2 occasions. It was still winter and was cold outside. He took the pizza out of his trunk and the pizza was not in an insulated keep hot bag. Why would someone do this? So yeah, the pizza will be cold. Went here to have a meal with some former co-workers of The Doctor's. Walking in I saw gambling machines next to the bar, which was kind of strange to see. We needed up getting mozzarella Sticks, Bosco Sticks (Fresh-baked breadsticks stuffed with mozzarella cheese and marinara dipping sauce, and pizzas. The mozzarella sticks were your basis cheese sticks, nothing to write home about. The Bosco Sticks were surprisingly good, I really enjoyed those, but you have to eat them while they are warm. The pizza was a bit of a mystery. The crust was very thin and crispy, almost cracker like and that was great. But the ingredients on that nice crust was devoid of any flavor as far as I was concerned. I honestly can't even describe what the taste was except that there didn't seem to be any: no salt, oregano, Italian seasoning....nothing. A couple of different people came by to check on us but didn't offer to refill any drinks. We finished our meal and asked for a take out container. Then my dad realized he never received the soup that was supposed to come with his meal. So after about 10 min waiting, I was able to flag someone down. So we have not been to DAGS in a while. we used to love when they were on Higgins. We decided let's give this Oakton location a shot. Food was ok , service was ok. We ordered a lot for the four of us: We had a cup of Chili l, wings , Cesar salad, kids pasta, and pizza. chip was good - pizza was ok ( a little thinner than we thought and a little dry) wings were tender just had no flavor. Salad was good and had a side of fisted raviolis. Then the bill came! We knew it would be a high bill we were hungry however the bill did not match up with the online menu nor the paper menus that were given to us. We were charged basically a $1 more per item. We asked our server why and he said he will get a manager. Waited a bit and manager came and explained that they have fine print in their menu that they reserve the right to change prices. That's fine and all, but all they had to do was inform us prior to ordering and put tape over the menu items prices. It may not be illegal but it's a horrible business practice especially since the kids menu was just a xerox copy and all they have to do is black out the price. Anyways. A little to shady for us to want to go back, it's a shame. If you are craving comfort food, cold drinks, sports tv and reasonable prices, this is the place. I was surprised to see a gluten free section on the menu. Their tomato sauce is everything, slightly sweet with juicy bits of tomato and onion. Portions are huge. Everyone was walking out with leftover boxes. Pizza is their jam and like everywhere pizza prices have gone up but at least it's quality. It's loud with conversation, music and laughter on a busy Saturday night. Plenty of free parking. I tried the double dough on February 25th 2024 right before I went to AMC NILES IL. Just cheese and pepperoni Nothing else. It was awesome. I will try the thin next time. I hope it's good.
