Walking around Edison park we needed a place near the train station to warm up and get a quick bite to eat. EPI was perfect! Across the street from the train station we quickly found a table and were brought menus right away. They had a bar, pool tables in the back so it's a place to catch up and relax, which was something we needed after spending the day walking around. Though it wasn't too busy, food did take a bit to get to us which we ordered a small pizza and there loaded fries with cheese, chili and sour cream took over 20 minutes to get to us. It wasn't a bad experience but keep in mind if you're looking to catch up and not be in a rush this place is worth a try. read more

Neighborhood bar super close to the Metra. If you're driving, it's about $2 to park at the Metra lot anyways. I was here for a private event. The food was all just okay but I wish they'd put labels saying what everything was; what appeared to be beer battered fish turned out to be chicken and I had grabbed some "tartar sauce" that was actually blue cheese dressing. Like trying different bars out so decided to pop in here for a couple and quick bite. I got a couple beers and a shot for drinks, got hot wings and triple layer fries for food. Drinks were $6 for Heineken and $10 for a shot of casa migos reposado. $13.99 for 10 wings (I got 12), $8.99 for the fries which were a big portion. There's only one flavor of wings (maybe you can get bbq or plain, don't remember) which is your typical buffalo style and they're decently sized, come with ranch or bleu cheese and celery but to me we're just average. The fries came with chili, cheese and sour cream and were ok. Service was ok, it's not like I was I need of any crazy demands or anything. The place is in an older building, next to morrettis in park ridge/ep area across from Amtrak/metra rail and honestly could use a deep clean. They look big enough to handle events and have a decent amount of seating. When I went there seem to be a lot of regulars. I'd go back to try some other food items such as the pizza and have some more drinks. The place is simply average but sometimes that's all you need (well at least, all I need). read more

Went on Saturday when it came down to pay the Bartender Karen she charged us more then triple what we drank. We felt they were taking advantage of us not knowing what we were drinking and paying for. Clientele not so very pleasant and a bit rude. Will not be going there anytime soon! read more

Sitting at EPI right now. It's busy. Bears are playing. Toys for Tots happening. We are understanding. We are patient. We know they are busy. But the bar staff is rude. Service terrible. You are not doing us a favor by serving us. We chose to spend our time and money here. You can at least make an effort. You can make an effort to be nice and smile. Your customers will do the same. Walking by your paying customers, ignoring them and acting like we are a pain in your ass, is not good for business. When we ask for a lime for our beer and you throw it in causing it to splash everywhere is childish. EPI is one of many places in the area where we can spend our cash. She says she didn't want to work today. Clearly her attitude towards her customers shows this. Time to grow up. read more

I was here at EPI recently and it was the first time I've had a really bad experience. Me and my friends come often and always have great service!! This time, I overheard the bartender telling the barback there is a bat in the basement?! So gross. And the bathrooms were atrocious!! Looks legit like real poo smeared all over. Yuck. That place looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a while. My usual waitress wasn't there either, that was disappointing. The service there honestly is not good without my usual girl, Anna. It's a whole different experience without her and Anna making the experience so much better. I suppose she makes me not realize how grimey EPI really is inside. Added- I took a picture of the bathroom but I must have deleted it. I wanted to add it! It was so bad. I also heard there are cockroaches all over ugh. Never eating there again!! The only special thing about it to me is that I saw the Cubs win the World Series here, so I guess for that, this bar will always hold a piece of my heart =) This bar has a more older crowd than younger, but honestly, I feel like all of the bars in Edison Park are turning that way. When I used to go to Moretti's or Firewater on a weekend night, it used to be all people in their twenties-thirties, but now there has been an older crowd. The buffalo wings here are super good, and their beer selection is okay. I have never been to the bowling alley here, but they do have one in the back, and they also have events and music upstairs sometimes. I've never felt disrespected or anything by the staff here, but sometimes creepy old dudes try hitting on me and my friends which is no bueno. Also, I was here for a St. Paddy's Day event multiple years here, and the bartenders just straight up ignored me for a long time, and I was like cool bro, I'll leave, and I had other people in my group go and buy the drinks instead... Idk what it is about me, but I always seem to have an issue getting drinks here. Yes, I am short and it's usually super crowded, but if I can see them, they can see me, especially when I have my card waving around... I normally skip this bar, honestly. read more

Hadn't been there in over 20 years but the food is still great, big portions & very reasonably priced. This place is a great dive bar with many options BUT it also has THE WORST BARTENDER in Edison Park!!! Picture provided. She habitually goes (in a disgruntled manner) downstairs to get a common bottle of whatever you're drinking faking it as hassle. I verified this with the barback. She also will speak and build rapport and get people who tip better drinks faster while you have sat empty for a while. This has happened to me a half a dozen times of being to this bar and always the same girl. HORRIBLE ATTITUDE all the while. I have seen her do it to me, my girlfriend, and others that I shared experiences with. On the date of making this review, I walked in and paid for a drink with a $20 that took her 10 minutes to pick up (I laid it down the moment she delivered the drink). When she finally picked it up I was half empty and I saw her take all of the change and put it in the tip jar. I don't know if she's malicious, horrible, or absent minded. All are bad. She is the worst I've seen in a neighborhood that I live and frequent. When I asked her about giving me my change she said, "it is somewhere." I then waited for another 15 minutes for her to give me my change that I saw her put in the tip jar, yet she pulled out of the register. Worst place in Edison Park to get a drink, the bartender ( Heather) is terrible, you can't get her attention, she's too busy socializing instead of serving customers. Once you place your order it still takes too long and she usually forgets something. I have been there many times and each time it's the same. Until they get better staff I will not return . EPI is a solid spot!! It is a good spot to meet up with friends to watch the game or just drink it up! The deals are always pretty decent. I love getting a bucket of beer here! They have a bowling alley upstairs and you can rent rooms for private parties up there also! I have been to a couple private parties here which was fun! As stated in previous reviews one of the bartenders is a garbage awful person. Also- don't plan on bowling. The upstairs is ALWAYS closed despite stated hours. Avoid! Did not care about FOOD ALLERGIES! Came in and sat down at the bar, ordered an old-fashioned but before it was delivered I caught the bartender and notified her that I was allergic to St. Germain. There was a lady drinking some thing with St. Germain in it. The bartender I believe her name was Heather gave me a rotten look and a whole lot of attitude for a very simple request due to my food allergy. It could send me to the hospital. I then witnessed Heather go to a few of the regulars as if to tattle on me. I watched each of them look over at me as she spoke with them. A couple of the regulars seemed to follow me around the bar as if to bully me, they wanted to let me know I'm not welcome. One of the many neighborhood bars in the tucked away corner of the city that is Edison Park provides their people from all over a divey spot for all the gents to wind down after a hard day's at work. EPI is more on the mature end of the spectrum when it comes to Edison Park bars as it does not seem to try hard to bring in the younger crowd with certain ex factors many other establishments try to do; this is just a good ol fashioned watering hole with good beers on tap, some table games, and I think i saw a bowling alley in the back too, which is pretty cool. But above all that, I got a really chill vibe coming to this place (it could also be this was all on a cold Wednesday night, but that's beside the point), like there's no pressure being here, just have your drink and enjoy it. Does this place double as an actual Inn? If so, cool, because you're right next to a metra stop that can take you to most of the NW suburbs in no time. So I'd say, if you're in Edison Park and want to go somewhere just to have a laidback night with a drink in hand, EPI might be the way to go. Drink responsibly.
