The process of making a reservation was difficult but we did call ahead and get a table! The amount of menu options is alarming fantastic! The server, Cassie , was a gem! My first visit to the Eatery was a very pleasant experience. My gf and I made reservations same day for Friday night out. We were seated promptly upon arrival in a corner booth which was out of the way and perfect for our date. Or server was attentive and answered all of our questions on the menu. We ordered a martini and Pinot noir with a large meatball appetizer. The drinks were very good and the meatball was amazing. Honestly l could've been our meal for the evening. We ordered a shrimp and scallops scampi and an angel hairAlfredo. We completed the night with a very rich tiramisu. All of our dishes were excellent. Items that stood out for me was the owner's attentiveness to his patrons. He stopped at every table checking up on service and needs. Super friendly that set a nice tone for our dinner. Andrea Boccelli served as background music for our stay. D'Amelio did have a small private lot but it was very tight but there is street parking available. I look forward to our next visit. Came here to treat my cousin for her birthday. It was an upscale classy place. Waiter was friendly & attentive. I ordered shrimp w/ shells in vodka sauce. My cousin ordered the rigatoni bolognese but instead of rigatoni pasta she ordered ziti. Before our main food came out we received toasted hot bread & butter. That's always a winner! My boss wanted to treat my management team and I to a farewell dinner before I changed locations. One of the managers suggested D'Amelio's. I heard a lot of great things about them from people that live in Waterbury. The parking lot was a little difficult to navigate. It doesn't have a great design. There was much easier street parking available. The inside is very clean with some nice decor. There is a bar area if you're looking to unwind after a long day. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. I was blown away by the food that I ordered. There were so many great choices. With my boss paying, price was of no concern. We started off with a few appetizers. The fried calamari was breaded and fried to perfection. The cherry peppers are also a nice touch. Are usually like a few to add a little spice. The giant meatball with cheese in the meatball was fantastic. The sauce brought out the flavor of the meat and cheese. For my dinner I got the Pollo Roseanne. I enjoy getting food that is not a normal menu item that can be found in every restaurant. This is one of those dishes. It was chicken stuffed with pickled crabmeat and cheese. It had mushrooms on top and a cream sauce. I had pure joy with my firs bite. I can't remember the last time I had such a variety of delicious flavors in one dish. Great old school Italian restaurant with a very festive bar. We went in a week day so didn't need reservations. The food was very good. We started out with fried mozzarella with a lemon butter sauce which definitely puts a nice spin on the regular mozz Sticks. My husband had the lobster ravioli which was good but light in the lobster so we were happy we asked for shrimp on side. The chicken soup that came as a first before the meal tasted like grandma made it very good hearty and not from a can. I had the calamari pasta with capers and olives and the calamari was very tender and not rubbery at all. The cheesecake Tuscan was very good came with bananas stuffed inside and wrapped in a burrito rolled in cinnamon sugar. I went with some friends to D'Amelios for the first time last weekend. We had a great time. The restaurant was a cozy, traditional Italian aesthetic with dark and comforting decor. They have an AMAZING menu. I was blown away at the selections and had a hard time choosing what to get! They also have a nice cocktail and wine menu. The house glass of Chianti I had was delicious. For apps, we got the calamari and stuffed meatball. The meatball was huge!! And very good. The calamari was small and a bit over-fried. There wasn't much fish to it- just breading, so it didn't taste that fresh. For an entree I got the chicken cacciatore and the portion, as well as my friend portions, were huge. I loved my entree. Had a wonderful time at this Italian Eatery . I had salmon Florentine they serve it with mashed potatoes I asked if I can had extra spinach and (no mashed potatoes) , which was no problem . My guest had Veal Saltimbocca it came with a side of pasta which was delicious. They also serve a side salad with our meal, which is an extra treat most restaurants don't serve aside salad anymore. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very friendly and had no problems making accommodations for us . The meal was excellent. The only downfall was the parking was difficult. I went for the first time for a work event. They had a private room available for us that worked well for a party of 12. For appetizers we had the calamari, the giant meatball, fried mozzarella, a spicy sausage and peppers dish. They were all excellent and I'd have them again in a heart beat. For my entree I had veal Joseph Anthony. The picture doesn't do it justice. The mushroom gravy was excellent and the veal was cooked perfectly. The person to my right had the lamb chops. I normally never order lamb because it's too easy to cook incorrectly and the small amount of lamb you typically get. This dish had six lamb chops and it was cooked on point. I can't rave enough about the quality of the food and the diversity in the menu offerings. I'll be back again and again. read more

Close to our hotel, enticed by other reviews. Greeted nicely we chose to sit at the bar. Ordered a dirty martini , enjoyed with warm bread,liked the bartenders idea of adding oil from a jar of stuffed cherry peppers (for sale) Sweetheart and I had a small salad and shared the veal parmigiana with ziti. I was here for a short trip for my graduation ceremony. I am originally from the west coast (CA) and I was informed by one of my colleagues to try D'Amelio's for their Italian food as he's from Naugatuck and worked for this company when he was in high school. He told me, most East Coast people are Italian food snobs because of places like this existing and West Coast couldn't compare. Say no more. My wife and I made reservations around noon time and changed our reservation time as we were coming from New Haven. The staff from D'Amelio's were very accommodating to our sudden change and as soon as we arrived, their service was amazing. I think our waiter was Robbie or something... he ensured that our food came out on time and recommended me a glass of wine. We ordered the Giant Meatball Appetizer and it was an impressive monster. I never had a ball of meat like that and quickly shoved it down my throat. The sauce that came with it was perfect and there was more cheese inside that beast. It was very filling along with their bread. I was told to order anything on the menu because everything is so good. So, I ordered the Zuppe Di Pesce which was a seafood pasta with calamari, fish, muscles, shrimp and I had mine with Angel hair pasta. This was seafood galore and it tasted really fresh. It was so much food that I had to take it to go. My wife ordered Pasta Alla Carbonara. I knew she loved it because she finished half of it and finished the rest on the way back home. Now I understand why my colleague said that the East Coast has the best Italian food. I couldn't agree with those words anymore as I tried the best Italian food in my life in D'Amelios. We were in the mood for Italian food and had heard great things about a few different Italian restaurants in Waterbury so we decided to check out D'Amelio's and it did not disappoint! The night started with a delicious Manhattan that was quickly served and we ordered an appetizer special which were long hots stuffed with sausage. It was a nice and light dish and would highly recommend. For my main course I chose the pollo roseann which was chicken breast stuffed with pickled crab. Perfectly seasoned and super filling-I was unable to eat my side dish of pasta that came with it but happily devoured the leftovers the next day. My husband and I were recommended to eat here by his boss who was from Connecticut. We went here for dinner. I ordered the Pasta Alla Carbonara and my husband ordered the Zuppe Di Pesce. We got to choose the type of pasta which we were not used to doing so our waiter asked us a few questions and we went with his suggestions. Our dishes were delicious! Mine was rich and creamy. The pasta was cooked perfect. The seafood on his tasted great. The portions were pretty big! We didn't even make a dent so we took both home...all the way back to California the next morning. Wife and I came here for our 5 year anniversary on recommendation from a buddy of mine. Parking stinks. Just saying. The place itself is very nice inside. White table cloths, very Italian feel as far as wall art and ceiling tiles. The menu is pretty big too slot of choices. Drinks: chocolate martini. The flavor was there but they should dress the drink up a little bit. It was a plain glass and the waitress poured the beverage at the table. No chocolate drizzle or cherry or anything for garnish. I had a Makers 46 Old Fashioned yum. Can't mess that up. Appetizer: Calamari fra diavolo. The calamari was delicious. Lightly battered so you didn't get that dumped in oil feeling. The marinara sauce was very good. Thick not watered down like a lot of places. Salad: we ordered Caesar salads. Wasn't impressed. The lettuce was very flimsy and wilted not crispy. The dressing was okay but didn't taste like a traditional Caesar. And I expected Parmesan cheese to be visible on the salad in the form of slices or grated but had neither; there was a cheese shaker on the table like you find in pizza joints. Dinner: my wife ordered the Chicken Caprese special. She enjoyed it. The chicken was flavorful and crispy. Sliced very thin but a large piece of chicken. Battered perfectly and served next to a bed of arugula. The tomato, mozzarella, and balsamic drizzle over top were all very good. I ordered the Veal Michael Anthony. HUHE portion. The shiitake mushroom sauce was the best part of the meal. The pasta was cooked perfectly and you get a choice from 5 or 6 pastas. The veal was cooked perfectly and very tasty. Dessert: my wife ordered the cannoli. She immediately noticed that the cannoli was filled as it was ordered. Delicious dessert. Filling was creamy and tasty. The shell was flaky and delicious. I ordered the Tuscan Cheesecake. I should've read what it was. I was expecting cheesecake. What I got was very different however it was amazing. Sort of like a rolled crepe filled with a banana cream type cake filling served over caramel with iced cream and whipped cream. I really enjoyed this dessert. Service: our waitress Alisandra was on point. Very chipper, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. She was also serving like 6 or 7 tables at a time but didn't miss a beat with beverages, pre-bussing, and making sure we were all set. Great job, Alisandra. Our party was looking for a decent Italian restaurant near us and this place came up on yelp eight great reviews (yet only from a small number of people) and we decided to check it out. Boy we were surprise to find out how delicious and awesome this place was and not yet known to many! Finding this spot is a bit tricky bc the neighborhood is a bit hilly and there are lots of quarry not far from here which does look a little suspicious at night. Once you arrive, it is easily noticeable with all the cute patio (outdoor dining!) lights on. The parking is the only thing I found a bit tedious and would be a minus because everything else was amazing! When we first entered, we could tell it was a popular place among locals bc it was packed and the owners/waitstaff seemed to be on first-name basis with many of its patrons. We were seated right away, and quickly were attended to with our drink orders (they offer still, tap and sparkling water as well as other beverages). To start, we were brought complimentary bread and butter (the bread were delicious sesame loaves). We decided to get our entrees with our appetizer at once as we were hungry - boy were we in for surprises! Our entrees came with a side of soup or salad (we were not aware). We chose both, and the soup du jour was a delicious chicken tortellini veggie soup! Salad came with a variety of sauce/seasoning available too. While we were finishing our complimentary sides, our orders arrived and we were shocked at the sizes of our plates!!! They were gigantic and the portions were so big! For sure, you will not go home hungry and I dare say, good luck finishing your entire order in one sitting! We had not been expecting the big portions as most places barely give enough (also I figured the complimentary sides and bread would be given to help fill you up - boy was I wrong). We got the zuppe di pesce (I will say that the menu is written in Italian but also have descriptive details of what dishes are made of if you are unfamiliar). We also got the carbonara and the pagla e felie. Everything we had was delicious. The cream pastas were creamy yet not heavy - you can pick the type of pasta types you'd like for your dish. It was cheesy yet not too overwhelming. The carbonara was very well made because you could taste the pancetta in the cream sauce but was not too oily. The zuppe orders came with lots of seafood as well - a big variety of mussels, clams, calamari, etc. This also took me by surprise by the generous portions! All of us were left unprepared by the big generous portions that we feared that we might have to take it home. We were convinced to taste some desserts - we got a peach sorbet and the housemade tiramisu. The peach sorbet was also made home - it was peach sorbet stuffed into frozen peach! How innovative!! The sorbet was soft and delicious, not too tart either. The peach is difficult to eat bc it's frozen but I'm guessing it is possible. The tiramisu was great as well - strongly coffee-flavored yet the whip cream was soft and semi-sweet (not the artificial kind you would expect). Overall our waitstaffs was very attentive to us and the food was great! The ambiance of the restaurant felt very intimate, they have a downstairs and upstairs placement - I noticed that they can accommodate for bigger parties as well (seated next to one). Because it is a little cramped and when it does get packed, the noise levels can be a little loud. The best thing about this restaurant were the surprising generous big portions (spoiler alert: we all took home a to-go box lol). I wish the parking situation was better (limited and very tight, or street parking on a very busy streets next to residential neighborhoods) - that is the only thing I had to note. We enjoyed some of their specials like the pollo Natalina (breaded chicken covered in fig jam, arugula salad, and goat cheese) and the lobster arancini. We had a pretty good meal here. My only complaints are that my mother was brought out a very soggy tomato and cucumber salad that had obviously been in the fridge for way too long, but they were nice about it when we sent it back. Also, they are pretty lax and their waitresses were often not wearing masks when visiting our table. Other than those things, we really enjoyed our experience here.
