My strategy for finding any new third party is to read the reviews and try and synthesize the truth, speak to a decision maker and assess and finally ask for some quotes for the parts and labor. I spoke to four shops and of course everyone needs to see the job before finally committing and that scope can obviously change. Sam freely and patiently gave me some quotes for both (others couldn't get past - we need to see it), the quotes and the final pricing were both very fair and competitive. Mo communicated freely during the fix and heres the kicker and why we'll trust these guys moving forward. They easily could have turned the minor job into a relatively major fix and they didn't, the problem and solution was less in every sense than what I assumed it would be including their cost - great job the both of you!

I usually don't go for these but I made sure to look up the NY State laws on these things and it turns out we have the strictest laws for these type of events. Most people do not know this so they get easily scammed. Martin Bros. Chevrolet located at 613 W. Main St. Arcade. NY, 14009. They are currently holding a sweepstakes type event that is deeply deceiving the customer. They sent out mailers and on the back there were scratch offs to see if you won anything. Mine showed that I had won either the Polaris Ranger or $7,500. I read the entire flyer, even all the fine print and it does not state that it was a gimmick to get you in to buy a car. It does not state that I would come in and then they would see if I won or not won I would just need to call the number verify that my invitation code matched which I did on Saturday when I got it and the man on the phone stated that it did and that I was a winner. It also states that the winner can choose their prize. The man who answered also stated there are no gimmicks no games. So I figured after reading all the fine print and the NY state laws in regards to these events they could not legally scam me because then they would be risking charges if caught. When I got to the place I was sat down and the guy took my name, verified my address matched the flyer and asked some information about my current car and asked if I was looking to buy, I said currently I am not and then he said well now I guess we need to go to the wall to verify that you won. I told him they did that over the phone Saturday and took my name too and it says so on the flyer. He then states that I didn't actually win but he can give me two scratch off lotto tickets which were the cheap $1 Take 5 ones, I told him no. The flyer clearly states that I won, it was verified on Saturday when I called in and gave my invitation code printed on the flyer and that there are strict NY State laws against deceiving the customer like this. He said he needed to go check with his manager and the manager had laughed and said that I didn't win but he could give me those lotto tickets. I said I didn't want those I wanted what it states that I won. They all laughed like it was a big joke. Scamming the public like this in a time where many people are struggling to pay their bills and get by is wrong and how they did it is also a violation against the NY State laws.

We bought this car out right so we had a 30 day warrantee, we took it to our mechanic to give it a once over to make sure everything was in tip top shape before our warrantee expired. Our mechanic mentioned what a nice car it was and how many new parts were put on it and how great of shape it was in and asked how much we got it for and after we told him he couldn't believe what a great deal we got. After speaking with a few shady used car dealerships, I somehow found my way to Lar's Used Cars Plus. I didn't see anything on their lot that interested me but I figured I'd give a call and just feel them out to see what they could do. Speaking to Al was more than a refreshing voice, after the previous so-called dealerships I spoke with. We had a nice discussion about what I was looking for and he sounded pretty positive that he could find me the right vehicle. I was more than willing to wait until one came along. When it did (which was less than 2 weeks later), he called me up and told me what he'd found and I went and took it for a drive. It was exactly what I wanted and It just needed a few repairs before it would be ready to drive home. He got the work done in a timely manner, sold it to me for a fair price, and I'm so incredibly happy with it! It runs great and I feel safe in it and the price couldn't be beat! He turned to me because I know a lot about cars and he trusts my opinion. A few months ago, used cars were in short supply. Now, there is plenty of inventory. My friend did not want to purchase from an individual owner because he worried that if something went wrong with the car right away, he would have no recourse. I thought that was smart of him. My friend spent hours searching the internet for a car. He lives in Lockport and works in Tonawanda, and wanted a Subaru or other 4wd car to make things safe for his commute. Another smart choice on his part. We went to two Lockport car dealers and test drove 4 cars there. Then I drove him to TwinTon. My friend had found a Subaru and a Toyota, both 5-speed cars, which he wanted. We were greeted by one of the two brothers who have taken over this very long-standing dealership. Chris was our sales person. He let my friend test drive both cars he was interested in. Both were excellent, but the Subaru was the winner. It had brand new struts, rode like a dream, and had lots of power. The asking price was very close to the Kelly Blue Book value, which seemed reasonable. There was some heavy wear and tear on the driver's seat, for which we asked for a little better deal. Chris agreed. Chris made sure the car was clean and had a missing fender liner installed as we waited. They took care of registering and inspection right there on the spot. No financing was involved. The entire transaction went smoothly. There's a 30-day 1,000 mile warranty. It's been almost a month, and so far no major glitches. My friend absolutely loves his new car. I don't think we could have asked for a smoother, nicer transaction. BTW, the dealership is now run by two very nice brothers and their mom. Their grandfather was there, too. This is the opposite of a fly-by-night operation. This family has been in business now for generations!
