Gary, since you feel my daughter with whom you dealt personally on this job, while I was out of town, somehow has less of a right to review you because she didn't sign your check, here is my personal review as a BBB verified customer. When my whole-house attic fan died, a friend recommended D&D. Initially I was very pleased with their work. Gary, the owner, discovered defective wiring in a number of locations, as well as signs of past electrical fires in breaker boxes, all of which he and his assistants, Scott & Mic, fixed to my satisfaction. He also suggested rewiring the house to bring it up to code. I had the impression that this is something I would have to do should I wish to sell my house in the future (which I later learned isn't true). I asked him about how much this would cost and he said he had recently rewired a house for $30,000, implying mine would cost something similar. As things turned out just to have 2/3 of my basement done was $29,000. I spent more than I could afford because when he rewired a room I would lose power in another part of the house, necessitating an additional cost to retrieve that power. I'm still missing the function of some lights and outlets. As to our replacement fan, Gary installed one that was vastly overpowered, inappropriate for the size of the opening through which the fan exhausted, a mistake a master electrician should not have made. We had to do our own research to convince Gary of this. After considerable push-back, Gary realized we were right and replaced it (at an additional cost) with a fan with which we are pleased. I went out of town, leaving my daughter with a check to pay them when the last job (the basement) was finished. Upon my return I discovered that their work in the basement was incomplete. Old fixtures and ceiling wires had not been removed. Wood chips and debris were still on the floor. In addition, two "new" ceiling fixtures had chipped housing while another ceiling fixture was obviously second hand. How could they have in good conscience told my daughter they'd finished the job and collected the pay check when my basement looked like this? Scott did return (after I complained) to address these problems, but these defective fixtures should never have been installed in the first place, nor should the job have been declared finished when it wasn't. Additionally, I received an e-mail from Gary attempting to intimidate me into having my daughter remove reviews of our experience, claiming he had hired a forensic internet attorney and would take the "next legal step needed" if I did not have her do this by day's end. I used Scott and John with D & D Electric to install new lighting and upgrade the electrical service. They came referred through a friend so I felt that I could at least just use them to check the pricing on an estimate that I already have gotten. I explained to Scott, that we already had an estimate and they didn't have a problem with just providing a 2nd opinion. Turns out that while the original estimate was fine. Some of the proposed work was not necessary. We really didn't need all the work we originally were told that was required. Also, Scott spent a good deal of time explaining what was necessary and what wasn't really needed and could be delayed. Still he said the choice was mine and he could go either way with whatever we decided and there was no obligation. In the end, we went with D & D Electric because of Scott's time and effort showing us how things would actually work. The 1st contractor did not spend the time and effort with us to explain everything and seemed to rush out "take it or leave offer". Our new installation went just file and works great. I included a picture of the new high hat lighting. Update on 3/3/20 Called Scott because when the lights were very dim, we heard a vibration. Anyway, he came out and swapped the dimmer switch at no charge. read more

Older house needed a complete renovation. We really hoped the wiring was decent but after stripping it down to the studs we realized the mess we were in. Wires were cobbled together and running all sorts of directions pointlessly. Genuinely feel lucky the place never burnt down with such poor craftsmanship. We kept the power shut off and decided we needed this fixed promptly. After doing some research and getting a couple quotes D and D Electrical had the best rates. Had a good chat with Gary, he clearly knew what he was talking about and has years of experience to back it up. I knew I was in great hands and decided to go ahead with the house being rewired in its entirety. Gary and Scott arrived promptly on time and immediately went to work. It was a bigger project and well worth the price for the service provided. I know I couldn't have sorted out that mess myself, and it would have taken me much longer had I tried. Gary and Scott of D&D Electric installed two ceiling fans and a new outlet for me. These were not normal installations because the ceilings and the wall for the outlet were all concrete with no existing wiring. This job took all day. They were both professional and personable. Not only did they do a great job but they fixed things they found along the way, a couple of which could have developed into problems. They were also on time, covered things to avoid dust and cleaned up afterwards, which you can only appreciate if you have experienced the opposite. I knew they would patch but I would be responsible for painting any areas they had to cut. They did everything to minimize any disruption and out of three rooms I think there is one 2 inch spot I will have to paint. They are definitely not the least expensive but in the end I am confident that things were done right. I feel like I got what I paid for. read more

I have a house in Westchester PA that was my parents home years ago. Anyway we are now renovating portions and using it as a rental. I needed to upgrade the electrical service panel. . It turns out that the service we received was actually very good. Since we are remodeling, we had a lot of upgrades to make that necessitated a new electrical panel. Scott, my technician, took the time to discuss the upgrades we needed and he and John worked to get the job done. From start to finish, they were extremely professional and really went above and beyond to answer all of our questions and to make sure we were happy with the results. If you like being ripped off, D&D is the company for you. I had them install a chandelier and two ceiling fans that I bought at Home Depot. (Two required a big ladder). I ended up getting gouged for over $1,000. Their initial price seemed high, but I was selling the house and needed it done quickly, so I hired them. The main guy was outright rude - I found that odd, but not a showstopper. When they arrived they complained that the fans were still in the box, so they charged me an additional $125 EACH to assemble them, which took about 5 minutes. That's $375 for 15 minutes work. I mentioned that their price was high, to which he responded, "Well you have two master electricians here". So these guys need TWO MASTER ELECTRICIANS to install ceiling fans? WTF??? Go elsewhere, folks. read more

This is the first time my husband and me have used DND. We were referred by friends of ours who have used them for years. We had an emergency they came out over the weekend and worked about eight hours. There are two electricians both of them very knowledgeable and very easy to speak to. They fixed the problem got our power back and made some suggestions for some other ongoing issues. We had them back a week later and they corrected everything else. I used them last week as a referral from my aunt.. The electrician showed up on time after making a appointment.. He fixed my electrical issues within a few hours.. Scott was very personable and a real charmer. He put me at ease and said not to worry he could fix everything quickly.. His price was 1/2 of the other quotes I had . D and D gives good electricians a bad name. Give your business to someone else. I hired them for a light and ceiling fan installation project. Once they were in our home they said the price we got over the phone was not correct. This was AFTER they started the work! It ended up costing more than double their quote! And the main guy was incredibly rude and ill-mannered. He clearly hates his job. He shouldn't be dealing directly with the public. read more
