She apologized and said she would be busy with the other two people in my group. The man that did my nails could not do designs, so he just used stickers. He also apologized, as he knew it ended up nothing like how I wanted. I also vaguely remember Nina asking me if my mother would even be able to afford the designs for the two of us.. she'd been doing my mom's nails for a few years, and was familiar with her. Even if my mother was struggling with money, making a joke like that made me uncomfortable and I didn't feel welcomed at all in the salon. Not only that, the economy has been pretty hard on the majority of Americans, so this came off as very privileged and tone-deaf to me. Nails are fun! Nobody should feel 'too broke' to doll themselves up. I got the set fixed a few days later at a different salon because I didn't want to complain to them in person. If we came too close to when the place closed, she should have just told me that, instead of changing what I wanted because she didn't feel like painting my nails. I sincerely hope this place has improved!

The polish was applied over my cuticles (as shown in the photos), and within just a few days it started peeling. What bothered me most was that when I politely mentioned my concerns to the owner, I was told, "Well, you got a basic manicure." To me, a basic manicure shouldn't mean rushed or sloppy. Basic doesn't mean there shouldn't be care, precision, or pride in the work. To make matters worse, after paying around $40 for the service, I was asked, "No tip?" in front of other customers. That was embarrassing and left an even worse impression. I don't expect perfection, but I do expect a manicure to be done with care and professionalism, regardless of the service level. Unfortunately, I left feeling like I was rushed through just to get to the next customer, and I won't be returning.

I cannot recommend this salon enough. I've been going to Ryan for 13 years, long before he opened his own salon, and I happily followed him when he started his own business. Now that Ryan is focused on running the salon, I see his wife, Tina, and she is every bit as talented. I would trust either of them with my nails without hesitation. I am incredibly picky about my nails, and every single set has been absolutely flawless. They're beautiful, creative, and consistently exceed my expectations. On the rare occasions I've gone somewhere else over the years, I've honestly been disappointed and couldn't wait to come back. Beyond their incredible talent, the customer service is unmatched. Everyone is so kind, welcoming, and accommodating. Whether I've had to wait a few minutes or wanted to make a last-minute change to a design, they've always gone out of their way to make sure I leave happy. The salon itself is gorgeous. The recent remodel made an already beautiful space even more stunning. It's clean, modern, relaxing, and you can tell how much pride they take in every detail. (Update). Second day the polish on my thumbs bubbled and peeled off. I've never had that happen before so I'm pretty disappointed and will probably not be going back. (Original) Went there this morning to get a full acrylic set. The lady who did my nails Julie. Was super friendly. She said that the salon just got a new owner. Everything was great until she was just about done and it got busy. She got a little side tracked and forgot to do the second coat on a nail But I'll leave that to there was apparently an issue with some peoples appointments and they were double booked so she was trying to figure that out while finishing my nails. I'll definitely give a second chance though since she was very nice and my nails turned out pretty decent read more

Will the real Nina please come forward??? I have been a customer for a few years now. This is my favorite and best of west slope EDC place to go to get your nails done. Nina is a smart and hard working business woman. Does a great job on nails. Kim is my go to pedicure girl. Top notch work by top notch women. These ladies will never bring this up, but I will. I kind of find it interesting that someone picks the same name as the owner of city nails and goes right in behind her.......So folks...if you have heard of Nina....Make sure you do not mix them up....City Nails has been here the longest and put the time in to build their business the right way. read more

This nail bar is great! They are now under new ownership, Ryan being the new owner. I have been seeing Ryan for the past couple years now, and when he mentioned that he was switching salons, it was a no brainer for me to follow along. He is so diligent, understands your vision, and gives you the best nails that last long. If you like designs, he's your guy. He built his name up and was one of the best Folsom had to offer. I am an ever loyal City Nails customer. I have been getting my nails done and spa pedicures since 1999 and have not once considered going anywhere else. I was told it was because of the length, even though I had already said I wanted them trimmed shorter - but whatever that's fine. After they asked where I lived, I also felt like the pricing suddenly started changing, which made the whole interaction feel uncomfortable. Maybe others will have a different experience, but for me the overall vibe felt a little rude and dismissive. I want to be able to tell my nail tech what I want without feeling like I'm being argued with about my preferences.

My family has been coming here regularly, so this was a pretty disappointing way for loyal customers to be treated. There are too many other nail salons in Folsom to put up with that kind of customer service.
