So happy I discovered D&G Occasions thanks to Yelp! I was in need of some balloons with helium for my son's Halloween costume this year, but now that that other well-known party store that shall not be named has fully closed, I had no idea where to get them. I did a quick search and turns out D&G was just around the corner from me. This is a family-owned local gem that specializes in baking & party supplies. When I walked in, the staff quickly greeted me and asked how they could help. I told them I was looking for multi-colored standard balloons, so they led me over to the balloon section and they had just what I needed. I purchased the pack for $3.99 and then they can add helium for $1.50 per balloon. I only needed 6 blown up, so I pulled out the ones that I wanted and then the associate went into the back to inflate them for me. I came here looking for pillars to support cake tiers for a floating tiers affect (for a vintage wedding anniversary cake). You know, like the wedding cakes from the 60s - 90s where each tier didn't touch like they do today. Since that look is now a thing of the past, the pillars were hard to find. People who bake will obviously come here but it may be overlooked by those hosting an event or looking for decorations, but you can find so much here, especially with a lot of the party stores going away. This is my spot for all my baking needs. They are well stocked from anything a baker might need for actual baking that you won't find in the regular grocery stores like icing, fondant, ALOT of sprinkles and edible glitter, fillings, candy coatings and chocolate. They are also well stocked in supplies for boxes, cake rounds, decor, and even baking tools. Prices are reasonable as well. Only downside is they are not available on Sundays but otherwise hours are not bad throughout the week. read more

Very nice Staff and a variety of options for baking. All the staff there seem to really love their job and on top of that everything baking related is there!!! I prefer supporting small businesses in my area and for me this is a great example and place to get everything. I even got an edible image made there and some stickers and it was quick and easy and the staff there are more than accommodating. A truly helpful and well stocked place for anyone throwing a party. From the outside this looks like a nondescript strip mall store. I feel like this place is a locals only secret. If you need to prep for a party or any food related event this is a professional quality supply store for packaging and presentation. There are food molds and cookie cutters, lots of dessert flavor mixtures and decorations for baking. The supplies here seem endless. D & G has a lot of wedding related items like cake toppers, cake pedestals, and fancy glassware. As I looked around the store I found decorations for pretty much any event you can dream up. One of my favorite unusual items in this store are sugar toppings for desserts that are molded into unique shapes. If you're looking for a way to make your desserts prettier, pick up some tiny flowers made of real dyed sugar. They are so cute. There are walls of molds, tools, colors, fondant, cake boards, cutters, wedding supplies, dummy cakes, etc the list goes on... Staff is always knowledgeable and friendly. Prices are reasonable for what you are getting and the selection. Don't get Wilton stuff here as you could get it cheaper at a craft store with coupons, but they have higher quality and larger selection of items than Wilton or any craft store could offer. I used to live in Orlando and used D&G exclusively for my cake decorating business. Tips, pans, edible images, etc. etc. But, I moved to the Tampa area several years ago and, sadly, we have nothing like D&G here. I had an event coming up and needed a teddy bear cookie cutter. I called and asked if they had a large selection of cookie cutters and the man on the other end of the phone replied "the largest selection in Orlando." I asked their hours and went the next day. I unfortunately got a little lost on the way there and arrived probably minutes after they closed and locked the door. I noticed there were still people checking out so I figured maybe I could wait til they opened the door and just ask if I could go grab the cookie cutter real quick. The owner opened the door and asked what I needed. Not only did he say it was ok that I go get the cookie cutter but he led the way and showed me all the different ones. They don't just have one of every cookie cutter, they have what you need in different sizes and designs. All of them take up an entire wall! D & G is a baking supply store located on Herndon Ave, 1 block south of Colonial Drive. (Near Fashion Square Mall area, around the corner from Sea Thai.) A friend was helping out with a wedding and needed some cake supplies, I immediately thought of D & G. The store has expanded a bit from the last time I was in, more party goods and a balloon section. The cake supplies are still awesome, I was able to grab cake boards, boxes, a 8 lb tub of buttercream frosting, raspberry filling and other supplies quickly and easily. There are tons of flavorings, fondant, supplies, pans, candy molds...you name it. Their online catalog will give you a good general idea of the stock, but call first if you need a specific items as all online items are not regularly updated. Staff is friendly and helpful. It's VERY easy to get distracted and wander around for awhile, so plan for some extra time. :) read more

I've been coming here since the 1990's. I have really seen this place change! In a good way. I used to come here for party supplies for the church I work for. They have plastic colored table clothes, plates, utensils, etc...If you are looking for a themed party supplies they have a huger selection here. What I shop for now is pastry supplies. I teach Pastry Arts at Valencia College and they have a lot of supplies that I can use for school. They have a huge supple of cookie cutter, baking pans (I have really seen this selection grow over the years), cupcake wrappers, speciality ring molds, knives, off-set spatulas, piping bags, isomalt nibs, shimmer sprays etc! They have a great selection of molds. Now these aren't poly-carbon molds but cheap plastic. And I'm okay with that. Because I usually need a special kind of shape (the last one I bought was sea shells for some white chocolate I tempered for a wedding cake). They have them hanging up but they also have them in filing cabinets. If you can't find an exact shape just ask their staff and they can help you. They have Satin Ice fondant which is a good brand.They also have Nielsen-Massey Vanillas. A huge selection from Madagascar, Mexican, and Tahitian. From extracts to paste to sugars. They also have gum paste flowers for sale. They have a board on the wall and you can pick the one you want by a number. I have bought their turn tables before and they are very well built and will last a long time. If you are looking for piping tips they are behind the counter. Ask them to look in their catalog for the number of tip that you need because they have a large selection. They also have a large selection of bakery boxes and boards...for cupcakes too! If you need helium balloons they've got them here. What a selection! They are way in the back past the wedding cake stands. What I find funny is the janitorial supplies that they have for sale. I am not sure what that has to do with cake/candy/party supplies but they have them. Just to let you know: 1. They are closed on Sunday 2. They close at 4 pm on Saturday 3. $10 minimum on all credit card purchases The staff has always helped me when I have any questions. Yes, they have it stock. Do you need seashell candy molds to help adorn a beach themed wedding cake? Yes, they have different size molds to help fit your preferences. Do you need specific colored tissue paper to make tissue pom pom decorations for that special luncheon for so and so? Yes, they have several different colors in stock. Do you need 100+ take-out boxes for a gathering? Yes, they have several different sized containers of paper, plastic, or foam. For every single time I go to D&G, they always have what I'm looking for, and if not then I can ask the nearest employee for some assistance. The associates that I have encountered were helpful when asked the right questions. Quick note, I feel that the website does not do the store front justice. I had a lot of fun checking out everything from bakery boxes, to metallic-looking plastic hors d'œuvre forks, to madeleine pans. I picked up some 5" cake pans for pretty cheap. One complaint: There is a $10 minimum for using debit cards. This left me frantically looking for something worth $1.50 in the checkout area. My son wanted a SPECIFIC EATABLE picture on his birthday cake; A picture we downloaded from the internet; I drove crazy all over Orlando looking for a baking place to do this for us; Nobody would do it; I went to 3 different Publix one had their machine broken; the other one didn't even have the machine and when I finnally drove to the one who has the speciall machine they would not do it b/c of copyright issues!
