On our visit to Forks from NC, we had lunch here one day. We've been to a few other places in town, and they've all ranged from bad to mediocre. D&K is the exception to that. This place was great. Ambiance: The is a food trailer just across the street from Sully's burgers. Google Maps says it is open at 12 but they were open at 11 the Monday we went. It does have a nice shed-like attachment with three picnic tables to stay out of the sun and wind. Staff were friendly. Food: I got the four meat combo and it's a hefty amount of food for just under $30. You honestly could split it with someone as it'll likely put you in a neat coma if you eat it all by yourself. Ribs: These are 3 huge St Louis cut and not your smaller baby back ribs. Lightly glazed and pull apart tender, these were definitely the best of the 4 meats. Chicken: Mine was dark meat with a drum and thigh, it was neither dry nor moist but somewhere in between. The neutral flavor of chicken lets the smoke flavor shine through really well and was a surprising hit. Sausage: A freshly-cut full link. Nice firm texture, medium smoke, and almost with a little snap to the casing which is enjoyable. Brisket: Of all the meats, this has the strongest smoke flavor with a nice charred bark on the outside and no fattiness at all in my cut. It easily pulls apart by hand. BBQ sauce: Texans are not known for their sauces and this is not exception. It texturally looks like a coarse pizza sauce and is sugary sweet. Personally not a fan. Potato salad: Not too much mayo, it basically tastes like a baked potato which helps clean your palate between meats. Beans: Very simple beans, not sweet at all and basically tastes like refried beans which I liked but some may find boring. Overall this place is solid, it's not the best BBQ I've had but it's a good option for being in a tiny rustic town. You get a large amount of food that justifies the price and the meats genuinely stand on their own without sauce. The seasonings are on the simpler side which is classic for Texas style BBQ. I think as long as you're not expecting KC style bbq with heavy rubs and tomato based sauces, you'll find someonething to like. read more

Well within the Fork's Riviera, off 101 stands a small corral of brightly colored buildings with plenty of parking. This is a shack. The seating area is an aluminum shed, with floor made of the same gravel as the surrounding parking lot, with three plastic picnic tables inside. And it's up against the window of the food truck from which they make the bbq. I suspect most customers are locals who take the food home (it's served in a styrofoam container), but I lacked anywhere to go so I ate there. Must be broiling hot inside in summer, but this was a rainy April. For me, bbq is ribs, and these were seasoned with a dry rub, a tomatoey cup of sauce on the side. Where the meat was lean, it was dry and tough, but mostly it was fatty and juicy. Several choices of sides. The beans were OK but dull. What a wonderful surprise! Just passing through and we were hungry. We had brisket, ribs, and all 4 sides. My husband LOVED the rub on the ribs and tried hard to puzzle out the ingredients. I am a big fan of BBQ, so when hubby and I went through Forks on our way back from Kalaloch, we figured this was better than a drive-thru burger. Based on the reviews on Yelp, I was super excited. Our challenge came in "what do we order?" I tend to rate all my BBQ joints by how they do their brisket, but hubby is a manic ribs guy. So...here's what every marriage should do: compromise and order BOTH! And, so we did...ordered a half rack of the ribs (said it came with four, but we got an extra bonus rib!) and then the brisket plate with two sides. I really love cabbage so I requested the slaw. Could have bet MONEY on him getting potato salad, but he came back with creamed corn! I will tell you I'm biased here: I make a crazy good creamed corn so this one was ok...creamy, fresh, hot...but nothing to scream about. Having said that, there's nothing wrong with it either. The "southwest slaw" was interesting. I wasn't sure what to make of it...it had lime in it, which I'm not used to, but other than that...well, couldn't tell you what was southwest about it. Cilantro maybe? Well, now let's talk about what's important -- the 'cue! BIG ribs! Meaty, not "fall off the bone" but that's because they are, (I assume) smoked only. But, the meat was flavorful and properly smoked. I felt they were a bit saltier than I liked. Then, I tried the brisket. Well smoked too, but I wasn't overly impressed. Again, nothing WRONG, but I felt it was under-salted and the best part, the bark, wasn't really very prominent. When I did run into it, it was far and above the best part. But, frankly, it was fairly dry, in spite of the fat layers. No real complaints, but it wasn't "amazing" or "wonderful" as the other reviews said. It was good, it was satisfying, it beat the cr** out of a burger and I'd likely go back the next time I'm headed through Forks but I wouldn't drop everything and head here for BBQ. I think, given the other food options in Forks, this place is a gem. I'm glad they have it, and I was very happy to eat there. In fact...having leftovers tonight. My boyfriend and I are visiting the PNW from the East Coast and were SUPER hungry after a long day of exploring. We love BBQ, and decided to give this place a shot. I want to preface this review by saying that I am an Asian American female in a time when hate crimes against the AAPI community are far too common. I was nervous coming to Washington, especially after seeing certain signs and flags on the way here, and was not sure of how I would be treated. With that being said, we felt welcome at D&K BBQ and was treated with respect and kindness. Now onto the food.. WOW! I highly recommend this place and, as I'm writing this review, wish we had ordered more. The portions were generous and the meat was delicious -- cooked perfectly, not dry whatsoever. I especially enjoyed the pulled brisket sandwich along with the sweet, tangy sauce that they included on the side. The ribs were also wonderful and very flavorful with a nice balance between fat and meat. We tried all of the sides (beans, coleslaw, creamed corn, potato salad) in addition to smoked mac & cheese (which wasn't on the printed menu outside, but there was a sign advertising it at the window indicating "while supplies last"). This little gem is a simple food stand with a little red barn like covered outdoor dining area. We had everything but chicken because it was already sold out by 4pm ( they open at 12pm). The creamed corn was not too mushy, potato salad had red potatoes with cheese, green onions, , baked beans were pinto beans with a mild sauce, and the coleslaw was delicious . I was not expecting such great BBQ way out in Forks! After a long beach walk to Rialto Beach, we were hungry for some good food. This is a cool little take out place but they have a couple of tables inside and one outside. We ordered the brisket, ribs and the sausage plates. For our sides we got beans, corn, potato salad and Mac-n-cheese, which they only have on Saturdays. The brisket was the star. It was tender and well seasoned. Their BBQ is the perfect blend of sweet and tangy. The ribs and sausage were good too. Our favorite sides were the potato salad and the corn. Food came out super quickly and the guys working were nice. Definitely a good find. My daughter wanted to drive back again tomorrow from Port Angeles! read more

Visiting Forks had me a little worried for food since it's a small town. I am so glad I checked Yelp first before going anywhere else for food. The place is very easy to find, just off the main road. Since I got there around 330, the nice workers let me know they only had one brisket left and I was so excited to have gotten the last one! Just passing through Forks while visiting Olympic NP. This was my favorite out of the 3 top rated places on Yelp. Got the ribs and brisket plates. Sauce was sweet but not too sweet. Extra sauce provided. The brisket comes in lean and/or fatty. Potato salad was not sweet, mushy, more like twice-baked. The coleslaw was sweet but lighter and brighter (I think they put lime). The baked beans were smokey, not sweet at all, kinda like chili. (I'm commenting on sweetness, because I generally don't like my foods sweet haha). It was such a pleasant surprise that this amazing BBQ place exists, especially in Forks! We tried all of their meats. The combo is the way to go with generous portions and all the meats are delicious. Our favorites were the ribs and chicken, with sausage and brisket not far behind. They were tender and well seasoned! We also tried their potato salad, beans, and cole slaw, which were all flavorful and a good complement.
