I had pretty high expectations heading here (I've been to 'the competition' in Corte Madera from where all the stylists hail) but they weren't met. The experience is tres chic (you arrive, put on a coat, have a junior person seat you and bring a drink) then I was given an overview by Bruno. The place seems all hip and cool with all the beautiful people paying way too much to have their hair done. BEWARE! The upcharges can occur quickly if you aren't paying attention (for example, he told the junior person to give my hair a treatment without telling me it'd be an extra $30). The haircut was so-so and I was quite disappointed with the fact that Bruno didn't listen to what I wanted--he ended up cutting both my bangs AND the front of my hair too short. Thankfully I had made the appointment 4 weeks before I had an event, so I was able to grow it out a little and then go elsewhere for a touch-up. They also had a problem ringing me up later, and tried to sell me on some shampoo and conditioner. Another potential upcharge! I won't be returning. For someone with hair on the shorter side that needs maintenance every 4-6 weeks, this would break the bank. And forget about color or conditioning services! read more

Oksana has been cutting my hair for years and has always done an amazing job with my very thick and curly hair. She works with me to keep my length while coming up with new ideas to keep my hair looking fresh and current (curly bangs, curtain bangs, etc.). read more

Unfortunately, I did not have a good coloring experience at this salon. I asked for brown lowlights using low volume developer because my hair has been previously highlighted and dyed. She put my hair in foils under the heat for what she said was approx 15 minutes while she worked on another client. Another stylist washed and cut my hair after the color process, but my colorist never checked back with me. My hair felt very, very dry and dull after the partial lowlights she gave me, even with a full haircut after coloring. At home I tried olaplex, deep conditioning hair masks, but my hair is still very dry and dull. I also noticed that all of the hair strands where she placed lowlights are fried, very crinkly and patchy, and my hair has started to break off. I don't understand how you can screw up low volume dark brown lowlights. Also, she placed the majority at the front of my head, so there's no hiding the breakage and bald spots forming. My guess is they were trying to squeeze me in to a time frame by either speeding up hair color processing with 40 volume developer (like she initially suggested), or low volume plus heat. Both options fail to address the condition of my hair for the sake of their schedule. To boot, I was charged a higher price for coloring than what she initially quoted at the consultation. Very upsetting to pay almost $200 for partial lowlights breaking off. read more

My venture here started with a Groupon: $100 for balayage. With no allegiance to hair places other than my haircut place, Spoke & Weal, I decided to give this place a go... and WOW am I happy. I had Alexa (95% certain that's her name) for my hair and she was absolutely fabulous. After my experience with her, I'd absolutely go here again and send friends here. They spent more than 2 and a half hours taking care of me, making sure I was happy, styling my hair after the whole ordeal and just being super friendly. Sooo, the experience: You walk in (it's as trendy and clean as the photos) and two super friendly assistants greet you. One will direct you to the back where you can change or put on a robe over you clothes so nothing gets on you. After that, they'll introduce you to your stylist and offer you coffee, lattes, or tea. Then you'll talk to your stylist about what you want, you may look at pictures, and then it's off to the races. Bonus points for them having zillions of magazines to choose from. After they're done dying/tinting/cutting your hair (whatever you want done) they'll wash it, and style it for you. You'll leave feeling awesome - and a little lightheaded from the texture spray. The only semi-mild 'con' I have about this place is that it did take almost 3 hours to get my hair done. Granted, it was all with the same stylist so there's no way it could have been faster, but my advice to other fellow noobs would be to EAT LUNCH FIRST. Going there without breakfast and lunch for a 11:30 apt. was a bit rough when I got out around 2. Other cool things to note: - Free hair gloss your first time! - Head massage while they wash your hair - Free coffee/tea I trust these people to not do anything frighteningly drastic to my hair, I think their prices are reasonable, I have confidence in their products and their stylists are extremely friendly and extraordinarily talented. This salon is a beautiful addition to Strawberry Village in Mill Valley! Dianna and Oksana are two of the most professional and skilled hair stylists I have seen thus far. I went in to do the model program with Devon, who is FANTASTIC. I've been to her twice so far for balayage treatments-- the first which I showed her a picture of caramel balayage from Pinterest, and the second where I let her go to town and do whatever she wanted with my hair. I trust these girls implicitly when it comes to hair coloring. Both times, Devon delivered the most beautiful version of my hair-- the balayage was evenly layered, looked natural, and she noted that the colors would become lighter as the gloss wore off with washing. I loved the finished product both times, and will only come here for future coloring treatments. The atmosphere is incredible; the studio is modern and minimalistic with white walls and rustic touches of decor. There's lots of natural light so you can really see what your hair will look like in daylight. I LOVE this salon and cannot wait to go back for my next treatment. They also do Keratin treatments, cutting, styling, and FANTASTIC blowouts. I give them an A+ for their services, professionalism, and making everyone who comes here feel welcome. read more

My husband and I really love to come to this salon. It wasn't easy for me to find a good hairdresser for my husband. Then I found Miriam who was just wonderful, she did such a great job and now my husband won't go to anybody else. :)) I am also very happy with how Miriam cut my hair. Bruno is rewardingly consistent. My last haircut with him was at the end of July and I still routinely get compliments on my hair. I'm more than likely one of his "problem clients." I am low maintenance and wait entirely too long between haircuts. He deals with it with patience and expertise. He cuts hair in such a way that it not only looks great when you leave the salon, but manages to look better as it grows. His cuts are worth every penny. read more

After a couple of horrific experiences, I have been super hesitant about finding a new stylist. I am so glad I took the plunge and went to see ALEXA. She was extremely competent and courteous. She validated my concerns, took her time during my consult, and provided so much information about cuts, styles, and products that work/do not work for my hair type. Additionally, she was so personable; she allowed me to enjoy the wash and massage in silence (my fave) and then talked so openly with me during the cut and style. I have already told my wife she needs to visit her, and will definitely be sticking with her...I'm already thinking about my availability to have her color my hair. Do not use Alexa for color!! Spent $315.00 for highlights that are not even noticeable. Alexa refused to do the color requested, and instead, did one shade slightly lighter than natural color. Not sure what is up with this salon, so many good reviews for color but apparently, color needs to be done by Bruno or Oksana. I've been getting my hair cut and styled by Oksana for years, even when she was a student. She is super talented, skilled, consistent, and friendly, such a pleasure to be around. If I point and say "I'd like my hair cut with this kind of angle" or "up" , as I said today....the result will be - once again - the reverse. The style I received today was not even possible to imagine. The absolute reverse of what I requested. I had been growing my hair out for a year and the first thing done was to install VERY short hair on the top and, they didn't even style it. Apparently, the shop is actually a school now. They had a student there named Angie who lie to a customer about being experienced, because when I heard Bruno giving her instructions, it was clear she was an absolute novice. The shop used to be very good; these people must be new owners. Thumbs down. I do not recommend it. we have too many good salons in Marin to put up with this one. read more

Thrilled to find out that Oksana and Dianna have their own salon. Ive been loyal to Oksana for about 3 years. Ive referred many of family/friends to her as she is a magician when it comes to her skill with long layers. Me and my sister both have long (mid back-waist length ) hair. Oksana manages to give a total bombshell cut that works on days of glamour or the wash and wear day. I have had scheduling issues with their previous salon. I found it frustrating to be put on Oksanas wait list only to find out that my sister randomly and unknowingly called up and was given an appointement, while I was not contacted in any way. Once Oksana found out abut the situation she came into work early for me and got me in that week! I can only imagine how amazing she will be now that its her own salon. Oksana has great pride in her work. I love her meticulous attention to detail and her ability to create my vision into an amazing haircut. New location is great. In Strawberry village, right next to starbucks. Easy access to freeway, plenty of parking. Very convenient and beautiful salon. Great natural light. I am new to Dianna, and she is amazing! I have already told a few people about her and her color/high light skills. She is the perfect match to Oksana. I can see why they paired up. I did a partial foil with baliage combo. After years of cutting my hair short, I decided to let it grow out. And while in practice that was a great idea, my hair wasn't exactly on the same page. I went to go see Miriam and told her what I was trying to do (let the top grow, but not let the sides get too long), and she made it happen perfectly!! I saw Devon for highlights. She was very nice. She worked quietly and conscientiously doing the foils but the results were not what I expected. Since this was my first time coming in I brought pictures to try to be clear about what I wanted. I have dark brown hair. When the foils were removed it seemed over processed and too light. To her credit, Devon worked to correct this with toner and post processing but in the end I ended up with flat muddy colored hair as dark as my natural color and my hair feels dry. read more

I booked several hair appointments for myself and my bridal party on my wedding day in September 2015. Oksana did an amazing job on my hair for the big day! I asked for a side braid on top and some loose curls. The look lasted all day and looked beautiful! Oksana is really confident in her abilities, and I trusted her completely. My bridal party's hair looked beautiful too. The blowouts and updo's were flawless, and each one of the stylists was very nice and professional. I took off one star because it was pretty hard to schedule all the appointments. I had a miscommunication about my trial run appointment, and I felt like some of my voicemails fell through the cracks. Everything ended up working out, but it was a little more stressful than I had hoped for. read more
