and yeah, they're not opened 24 hours as noted, I called last night due to experiencing extreme heat in my home, and no answer (1 out of 5 stars) BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU ARE BUYING -- GREAT ATTENTION BEFORE THE SALE, VERY DIFFERENT AFTERWARD I purchased a new home and needed both HVAC systems replaced. After considering several companies, I chose D&D and spent tens of thousands of dollars on two new systems. Unfortunately, the 5-ton system had always been finicky and difficult to operate from the beginning. I then went away on vacation for two full months, during which the system was barely used. I returned home on August 7. Despite being finicky, it was cooling the house. D&D had a visit scheduled for August 10 to take photos of the unit for what I was told was the "final permit inspection." Before that visit, the AC was cooling the house. After that visit, it stopped working properly and was no longer cooling the house as it had been. When I reported the problem, D&D blamed it on a secondary air filter that another contractor had temporarily placed over ONE return inside the house. What I find difficult to understand about that explanation is that the AC had been running and cooling the house with that temporary filter already in place before the "inspection photos" were taken. The noticeable problem occurred after that visit. I called the office, and they sent another young technician. After his visit, things became even worse: the entire system stopped working, and there was no power going to the thermostat. Around the same time, my kitchen light also began flickering. My family was now completely without AC in the middle of the Sarasota summer heat -- for three nights already! After all this hassle, I personally contacted the Sarasota County construction/building department because I wanted to speak directly with an inspector. I also told D&D clearly that I wanted an IN-PERSON final inspection, not simply a photo inspection, because I have several questions and concerns about the installation that I want to clarify directly with the inspector. After everything that has happened, I want those questions addressed during an actual inspection. I called D&D again requesting emergency service. Despite this being a newly installed system that had completely stopped working, I encountered serious resistance. They gave me a service window covering almost the entire day. I had to travel out of town for business. About two hours into my four-hour trip, I received a call from their office saying the manager wanted to accompany the technician because the technician was new and inexperienced. However, the manager could not come that day. I told them that was unacceptable. Their staffing and supervision problems should not become my family's problem. If D&D believed their technician needed a manager present, then D&D needed to find a solution -- not decide that my family would spend another day without air conditioning simply because their manager wasn't available. If having people, including children, suffering inside a house that felt like a sauna wasn't enough to make this an emergency, I would hope that at the very least the welfare of a dog completely dependent on us would matter to them. But apparently, none of it was urgent enough. Despite giving me an almost all-day service window, the technician never showed up. We were left without AC again. My sons were complaining that the house felt like a sauna and that the heat was making them feel sick. This is simply unacceptable after spending tens of thousands of dollars replacing two HVAC systems. What makes this experience even more disappointing is the enormous difference between the attention we received before the sale and after the sale. The salesman was extremely attentive and very good at pushing his product. He even bragged about being related to the owner of the company, which naturally gave the impression that he had a close connection to the business and would stand behind what he was selling. However, once we had serious problems, I contacted him several times asking for help and felt completely disregarded. Apparently, being related to the owner was worth mentioning while making the sale, but it did not translate into accountability or assistance when we actually needed help. When a customer spends this kind of money replacing two complete HVAC systems, they should not have to fight to get a newly installed system working, repeatedly call for help, receive an almost all-day service window, and then have nobody show up at all while their family remains without AC. Based on my experience, I absolutely cannot recommend D&D. If you are considering this company, be very careful and ask questions about what happens AFTER the sale. Don't judge a company only by how attentive and persuasive the salesperson is when they want your business. Selling an expensive HVAC system is the easy part. Our AC went out in the middle of this humid heat and we called our go-to people, D&W. Ted, the tech who returned the call, was able to diagnose the trouble over the phone and instructed me on how to fix it. D&W is a good company for your AC. They installed the unit in our home before we bought the house and again after Ian. They've even told me how to diagnose and fix some things. They're not out to make you pay if it's not necessary. Ted could've come out and charged me for the fix but he didn't. I give D&W 10 stars out of five.​ read more

We had a mini split duct system installed in our home several years ago by D and W air conditioning and it has been absolutely great. This year the unit started underperforming. We called D&W. They were quick to respond and determined that the system had a leak in its coil. Randy was handling our issue himself. He found that the replacement part needed to repair the coil was not readily available, however, the option to replace the entire coil was available immediately. He opted, rather than making us wait for a replacement part in the midsummer heat, to replace the whole coil, bearing the additional expense out of his own pocket. We could not be more impressed. What an incredibly generous thing to do. To me that is the ultimate not only in service, but in character, and in commitment to the customer. Our house is back in order and being cooled beautifully. The service this company offers is unbelievable! A++ Purchased unit 10 years ago this year. Annual check ups and minor repairs have always been done immediately. A/C went out yesterday. Had a year contract with this company. They only come out once a year, when my contract year was almost up they came out to check my air conditioner unit. The repair man said all was good blew out the line inside the unit. Said your good too go. 3 weeks later my air conditioner unit stopped working on a Sunday of course. I decided to call a different air guy and OMG! I'm glad I did. Apparently my unit outside was full of gunk and it took 2 shop vaccs to clean it out. Inside my pvc pipes were full of water.. Who does that to hard working people and screwing them and walking away with a clear conscience?? DON'T EVER USE THIS COMPANY!!! read more

We had our AC installed less than 2 years ago and we had a major repair done due to faulty coils.We didn't have a labor warranty but the parts were covered by warranty.The repair technician came once and told us that he needs to order parts and will come back to install . We were charged $ 90 for first visit and & 1,160.00 for the installation of the needed part. I think that the charge was outrageously high. I will not be using this company again. read more

They are the worse A/C company in Sarasota.Repeated problem with my Trane Unit.They do not know how to wire a system and if it is done by them rest assure it will be done in a non technical format.Wires connected next to the drip pan,Hint:It will arc or even better create a ground where someone can get electriouted!!.Wires pressed against the cover box so they can fray or once again create an arc.And if you are interested in buying a Trane think twice,they have tooo many problems when it comes to circuit boards,they blow!!.no fuse to compensate and prevent a mother-board from blowing.But in General!!.Stay away from D&W.See the attached photos and the drip plan with wires in it and crushed wires trapped in the panel cover.Not Kool and not professional. read more

I had called in 2017 for maintenance and to check the air flow. Brad did a cleaning and gave us detailed information on what was going on and his honest opinion on how long our a/c would last. He replaced a part on the compressor and told us to give them a call anytime if we had any problems. I decided to call them back this year again for a yearly check-up. Brad came again, friendly as can be, and looked at the air handler and recommended a replacement part but when he went outside he noticed the compressor was running extremely hot. After checking it out for awhile, he determined it would be best to replace the whole a/c. We approved to have it replaced two days later. The two techs who came out were very kind and cleaned up every bit of mess they made. They arrived promptly at 9 and were done by 1:30. This company is hands down the best to do business with. They don't give you the runaround and are all very honest and will not steal your money. If you need anything a/c related, call them. They get the job done and have great prices and warranties! I just got off the phone with Ted, a technician with D&W Heating and Air Conditioning. We had a power outage that lasted several hours and, as a result, the thermostat control went into a 'Locked' mode and would not let me change the temperature. A call to their answering service resulted in an amazingly quick return call from Ted who walked me, hot and irate, through the thermostat's buttons to 'Unlock' it and turn the A/C back on. Kudos to Ted for his knowledge, patience and humor! read more

New system purchased & install by D & W end of summer 2014. June 9, 2015 no charge maintenance service. They provide one after first year to 'ensure' everything is working correctly. In florida so never used the heat until a few days ago January 2016, 7 months after the no charge maintenance check up. Now the blower is not working in the air handler. No heat. If you are a Florida resident you understand my point when I say the last 2 days it's been 58 degrees in my house & no heat. Err. Called D&W to fix. When they come out to fix if they want to charge for more than the $90 service call, I will edit yelp to reflect this because the blower not working should take only one service visit to fix on this newish untit, which by the way, the heat has not been used ever by me & supposedly was checked by their service person at the complimentary check up 7 months ago. See what I mean? So I'll either edit this to 4 or 5 stars or down to 1 with a bbb complaint, after they're service repair. Depends if they deal honestly with me. I have been satisfied with D&W air for many years. I had a problem with a Trane unit still under warranty .The evap. core. It was replaced with cost of labor only. I called them because the technician for Florida Power and Light blew the capacitor on the 5year old AC unit when he changed the smart meter to an analog meter.The tenant in the home immediately noticed the AC was not working and this company responded promptly.They identified the problem and fixed it without any extensive charges.They were honest and forthcoming and if I ever have need for that type of related service again, I will not hesitate to call them. read more

Amazing service bad prices. 90 dollars for a service fee no problem 4x mark up on a part is the only reason why I would stay away. They politely suggested replacing another part @ 5 to 6 x the part markup. Message to the Owner, i tend to be very loyal to people who do right by me but I just called around to three other shops and they were half of what i paid , which is my fault not yours for me not shopping around. But when you have no AC you tend to call who ever has good ratings and hope they dont screw you over. D&W came to my house this afternoon (5.18.15) at 5pm to give me a second consultation on an AC problem. The first opinion I got from 'Scott's One Hour Air' was that I had a leak in a condenser coil. Replacement cost was prohibitive and the best option was to buy a new AC unit. D&W came and within 15 minutes had identified the actual problem which cost next to nothing (and took very little time) to fix. My AC is 8 year's old and will eventually need replaced... but not yet!! When that time comes, I wouldn't consider calling anyone but D&W. Thanks!!! read more

Tried 3 times in the last 3 months for my home in Fl. to get someone out for an estimate on new central air and duct work. Was told someone would call back and never did. Even tried the email request on their own website and no reponse back. Not a good impression. I'll hire someone else. read more

Had this company come out and do a general service and cleaning for a special they had running. The serviceman spent the entire time telling me our ac was on the way out and we needed a new one immediately. He could happily sell me one for a low, low price. I asked if he could just clean the coils as recommended, and he said it wasn't worth it and we needed a new system. After he left the system was not functioning well and I had to call the company to have them come back out. We then had another company come out who cleaned our coils and told us our system was in perfect shape and had years ahead of it. We still use this other company and our ac is rocking. I have also had to ask this company to stop calling me for sales and service 3 times. I am not impressed. read more

This is the most ethical company I have ever done business with.When I called them about a leaking problem from an ac unit they had recently installed they sent a technician out immediately who spent several hours doing a makeshift repair using glue instead of replacing the pan as he was supposed to.I didn't know he had done this since I don't watch technicians the whole time while they are working in my home.I was completely surprised when I got a call from the owner of D&W the next morning asking me about the repair and repairman. He then informed me that the technician had not installed a new plan as he was supposed to and he knew this because he had checked the van this new hire had used and found the new pan still in the van. He told me he would be sending out the 2 great technicians who had done the original install to replace the pan and remedy this problem.This was done within a few days as he had promised.I'm guessing there are very few companies that would have done this but would have instead hoped that the glue would have held up until the warranty period expired.Amazingly honest. You don't need to know anything else about this company in order to hire them with complete confidence that their follow up service is as good as their install work. P.
