New to the area and found this little gem. It's a cross between a sub shop and a diner to me. Has that hometown feel, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Good came out fast. A lot of options on the menu. I got the chicken salad. You will def hit your protein goal on this sandwich. Nice big chunks of chicken with grapes and I'm not sure what the chicken was covered in, but it was good. Not like your normal mashed chicken salad. Bread was nice and soft too. This restaurant has the best egg salad sandwiches in Florida and the best grilled cheese sandwich. You might say they're regular food anybody can make it. No one can make it as delicious as they can. no one! The egg salad sandwich is a hefty portion it's like 2 lunches. Best lil sandwich shop we've found since moving to Venice! I've had the Jalapeño poppers twice which were excellent both times. No skimping on the meats, I was just shocked that I found they charge me $9.52 tip on a order that was done online and picked up. How do you say WOW in Italian? I'm always on the lookout for a great Italian sub and come very close but never hit the mark! D'Angelo's is right up there with the best I've had and why the heck did I wait so long to try it. It's the 4:00 close I think, I don't usually hit Detweilers until 5:30-6:00 pm. But TASTY ??? WOW! And packed with meats and cheese - I even put aside enough for another small sandwich and all the various goodies that made it rise above most other subs. My only wish would be the bread be a touch crustier but wont lose a star over it! No picture, sorry ... I dug in too soon. Can't wait to go back. read more

Best Philly south of Philly. Nice people great food. Family atmosphere and good service

Tried something different for lunch this week. Large garden salad with about 1/4 cup chopped chicken scraps, and more croutons than necessary. At first i thought they forgot the protein ( chicken). I looked closer and there they were, scattered amongst the croutons. A few random cherry tomatoes and that was it! Lettuce arrived warm and watery. Yuck!!!! $14.99 !!!!! What a ripoff. Usually get a large full of veggies salad and side of seafood salad plopped on top from Obees. Cost $6.49. Oh well. read more

Husband is very fussy about his Italian Subs. I have been wanting to get into D'Angelo's for the last 3 winters! I'm glad I did! I too read reviews. I like to form my own opinion unless 3/4's of the reviews are bad then I do stay away. Back to the Italian Sub, good roll, excellent amount of meat and the "correct" meat for that type of sub. Owners were friendly and accommodating when I asked them to hold the pickles. Not sure pickles belong on an Italian, easy enough to pick off. Next up will be either the Cheese Steak or the Chicken Cheese Steak. read more

Stopped by on a day after the beach. I was super impressed! The vegetarian sub was so delicious!! The quality of ingredients definitely showed- crisp veggies, freshly baked bread, sweet Italian dressing! The customer service was excellent and the ladies working were very kind. This is a great place to eat. We order take out quite often at our office. Today was the first time I've ever had anything that wasn't good. Great Reubens, Turkey Club, Italian combo and salads. But don't get the Taco Salad if you like Taco Salad. It was filled with spaghetti sauce with ground beef, not taco meat. Otherwise, great service, nice people, and large portions! read more

Took Gary's advice and tried a Philly cheesesteak. It was good, but definitely not the best ever. The bread is just an ordinary soft sub roll, and the inside stuff was a little overcooked--the onions pretty much disappeared. I drizzled some Worcestershire on it, which helped. I might get another one someday. Maybe not, though, as $9 is a little steep. read more

I was at D'Angelos before but this time it was at lunch. While very busy, the staff was very efficient and courteous. I had the small Philly cheese and it was great. It was more than enough for lunch. I was drinking a coke but that went fast. I asked for a half and half and it was great. When I went to pay, they comped the half and half. Great food and people. Although the quality of the meat was good and the sandwich tasted great the Philly cheesesteak was not a $10 sandwich, it was way too small and the same for the corned beef, great service but the prices were too high for the quantity of food you get. I was hoping to write a better review than this because I've heard such great things about their sandwiches but if you're going to pay $10 for a sandwich it should be much larger than it was, and by larger I mean more meat. read more
