This place is located inside Four Seasons. We got the valet parking as soon as we arrived. You're greeted by the hostess at the front of the bar but as you go through the hotel there are nice artwork and structures for you to see and admire. The bar price range is on the pricey side being inside Four Seasons Hotel. The bartenders are quick and attentive, you're not waiting for too long considering there were quite a few people there. There was a DJ for some music more on the classic MJ and rock which I did enjoy. There are seats as well if you want to be seated and some bar food on the upscale side. We were hungry in between events so I checked trusty old Google who told me Cafe Boulud was open even though it was mid afternoon. But of course when we arrived they were closed until dinner service. Well were HANGRY so just opted for D Bar downstairs. Obviously this place is known for drinks and their lounge atmosphere but lemme say the food was not it Octopus: the best thing we ordered. The potatoes were crispy and the octopus was tender (but almost too tender because some were mushy) Salmon: the most atrocious salmon I swear I've ever had. This was boarder line raw, the sauce it came with added ZERO flavor to the already plain dish, and the greens had too much of a bite and aftertaste for it to be even considered a salad. To top it off, wild rice was flavourless and undercooked (hard) Steak: asked for the steak frites to be medium rare but it was more medium well. The cut of meat was very lean and just not great quality for $60+. And the potatoes were crispy but dry because they've been sitting for too long I'd probably come back for drinks and to try the other restaurant in the hotel but would never eat here again. The manager John and some notable bartenders make this place a very welcomong environment. I wish i could shout out all the staff by name but then we would be reading this review for a looong time. I reccommend coming on a friday or saturday night to enjoy the dance floor after 9:30 pm or a weeknight lunch to get some work done. Food wise, their salami and cheese options are great for us ladies, and men, who prefer to graze. If youre looking for a filling and luxurious entree then I reccomend the seared scallops. I never thought I would say that $23 cocktails are worth it. However, at D|Bar, I would happily spend $60 on three cocktails for how delicious they taste. However, the food is definitely a bit lacklustre for its price range. We ordered the Hamachi sashimi ($28), petite frites ($12) and Dulce de leche cake ($12). For the Hamachi, it was small portioned but beautifully seasoned and garnished. What made it feel awkward about the experience was that we were expected to eat it with a fork and knife. My friend and I bring Asians, we felt a bit disrespected being asked to cut it with a knife. They had no chopsticks and was discouraged using hands. Definitely not worth the $28. The Petite Frites were dry and I felt a bit unseasoned. My friend agreed and thought Burger King fries were more refined that this. Definitely overpriced for $12. The Dulce de Leche cake was the saving grace of the food. The sweet, crunchy texture of the Salted Caramel Pearls made us fall in love with it. If we were to come back, it would definitely be for the cake. The dbar is at the ground floor of the Four Seasons hotel, and as expected it is a beautiful space. The seats and sofas are lush and stylish. The decor is in lovely hues of pinks, creams and marble. Service is nice but with the coolness expected of fancy establishments. We came for drinks on a Friday night, and the bar area was busy but not crowded. We were able to get seats in a relatively quiet corner and enjoy our drinks away from the crowd. The cocktails are interesting, and seemingly inspired by the recent TIFF season. I had the "Sky is Pink" while by parter had the "Ford VS Ferrari". Both drinks were okay, but I didn't particularly like either of them. They were both on the fruity side while I prefer more spirit forward drinks. The drink presentation was very nice though. Mine had an interesting large square ice cube, while my partner's came with dry ice. There was a small dish of popcorn and nut mix that was complimentary with the drinks. The popcorn was tossed in some spice mix that was very strange and strongly savory. We didn't even finish it because neither of us liked the spices. I much rather have had plain popcorn. The nut mix was a little better. In total, great place to hang out and chat but expect it to be more style than substance. read more

What a lovely restaurant, look at the place setting they gave us -enough room for six people and we're just two people having a corner lunch with lots of privacy and great views and most importantly delicious food. And look at the beautiful flowers here. This place is extremely expensive. If you were to pay for a very expensive dish you expect the quality and the taste to be good. I ordered their hamburger which costed around $28. No cheese or bacon (that was extra). This was the most expensive burger I had in Canada and I expected this burger to be absolutely fantastic but for the price it was extremely disappointing. The fries was nothing to be excited about either. Due to the cost, I did not want to order anything else. I get you are paying for the location. However, this restaurant is owned by a celebrity chef who has won many awards. You would expect the food to be good even a burger. I have had better burgers at higher end restaurants before and Dbar's burger did not live up to it's standards. My biggest beef about this place is that we came here for a mini bridal shower and brought a small cake to share. I did expect the restaurant to charge a fee to bring plates and cutlery. However, they wanted to charge us $10 per person. That is $60 for 6 ladies...Really??? Just to bring plates? Let's just say we did not eat the cake. The service was good but be aware they will give you the look if you ask for separate bills. They did allow eventually did this. I always wanted to try a Chef Daniel Boulud restaurant in New York but after my experience with DBar, I think not! read more

I really enjoy what D Bar offers. A sophisticated but laid back atmosphere if you want to meet up with friends for a drink or a little snack. Spacious and have seating option for single, small groups or even some sectional sofas that can comfortably seat a group of 8-10 people. On a weekday night, D Bar was not overcrowded but I can imagine how busy it can be on a weekend. The lighting is cozy, the background music is light and the service is attentive. The drinks are reasonable priced when one remembers this is inside Four Seasons Hotel, with cocktails starting from $13 and beers at $8.50. The Mojoito I have was quite decent, sweetened with lavender syrup and nicely presented. Dessert though a little disappointing. The Hazelnut Gateau ($9) and Warm Madeleines ($9) are both good but not memorable. I will be back to D Bar for a drink or 2 if I am in the area, can't wait for the outdoor patio to open when it is warm out! read more

It has been warmer in Toronto and last Saturday, I decided to walk around Yorkville for a bit, It was around 5pm and my family and I walked into dbar with no reservation. We were seated immediately. For those people who like super high high end places, this would be one of those. It is a very upscale lounge, cool seating and I personally loved the vibe. The server brought us our drinks in less than 5 minutes and our apps came about 10 minutes after that (service is on point). We ordered the Fried Artichokes, Caesar Salad & Mini Lobster Rolls. I wasn't a fan of the Artichokes but that's because I generally don't like them! My parents enjoyed them. The Caesar salad could have used a lot more dressing, it was pretty plain. The lobster rolls were pretty good, soft buns, tasty sauce, & the lobster wasn't chewy! Our mains came out 20 minutes later. DAMN, what a spread! Both my sisters ordered the Steak Frites; wasn't the best steak I've had but it was delicious! My mom ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich which was pretty good but again not the best Fried Chicken sandwich. My dad and I ordered the burgers; my burger was topped with slow roasted pulled pork. I really enjoyed it, the quality of the meat was great and the fries were extra crispy. Went here for drinks before heading to cafe Boulud for dinner. When we arrived we wanted to sit outside, but they didn't have space so they said they'd let us know. We had a nice table in the lounge, and they immediately brought us free olives, popcorn and nuts. I was with a group of 50+ aged women, and I noticed that when they asked "too many" questions, our server was quite rude, which I didn't like. They came to get us a bit later to say there was space on the patio, at the exact same time as our server was taking our snack orders. This was super annoying because the girl who came to get us for the patio and our server did not coordinate or communicate, so instead of stopping him from continuing to get our order, she just rushed half of us to stand up while the other half were still engaged with him in the order. It was all fragmented and really amateur. Once outside, our new server repeated back the order that had been taken inside. We never got new waters and our server never asked us for second drink orders once we had finished our first round. We waited and waited for food to come and finally after an hour we cancelled - we had ordered a CHARCUTERIE plate which is just cheese and meat on a plate and should NOT take an hour. The rillon on a bun was good, but the pork belly was somehow a bit dried out, and the mustard was overpowering. The Thai sausage entrée was very small, and the fried rice was a bit dry. I came to dbar for their weekend afternoon tea set for my friend's birthday. Being vegan, I had called in advance to inquire about a vegan afternoon tea set as this may be hard to accommodate. To my pleasant surprise, dbar mentioned it will be no problem since they have more than 24 hour notice. Unfortunately, that is where the pleasant experience ended. Being a part of Four Seasons, I expected great service and attention to detail. When I first arrived, I had reminded our server that one set will be vegan, the server kindly mentioned it will not be a problem. Half a hour later, two regular tea sets were served. After reminding our server again, she apologized and took away the wrong set. 45 minutes in, she came by to verify if yeast is ok, and if yes, they will go across the street and pick up sour dough bread as the scone replacement. This means no consideration or preparation was done to accommodate a vegan option, even though I had called in advance and was reassured they can do it. At the very end, the vegan tea set was $65 for 3 pieces of sour dough bread served with marmalade, 4 savoury apps and a plate of fruit. No attempt was made create a vegan pastry which is generally the highlight of an afternoon tea set. I was beyond disappointed with the overall service and what was served. My previous experiences with Cafe Boulud have always been great however this was a horrible experience. I will definitely think twice before coming to dbar again. I treat myself to dbar from time to time for Monday's charcuterie night, and while the price point can be quite high for their regular items, $40 for a selection of meats and cheeses with a glass of wine is fairly reasonable for a more upscale restaurant. I've had their dinner menu items before, and while they were generally good, I still think the highlight is their charcuterie. For the charcuterie special, the server brings you a fairly extensive list of meats and cheeses that you can select from. They give you enough of a portion to satisfy a small appetite, but admittedly the portions are not large enough to warrant a full meal - unless you stuff yourself with the olives and bread they give you on the side. By the way, the olives here are pretty damn good. They offer a wine pairing of their choice with your meat and cheese board, and their pours are fairly generous. I'm not much of a wine connoisseur but I've been happy with their wine pairings so far. I've also had a number of their cocktails, and while the price point is quite steep ~$15, it's what I would expect for a restaurant attached to the Four Seasons. I would also highly recommend their mini croque-monsieurs. If I could afford to I could eat a hundred of those things. There's also a nice vibe for a Monday night, with a live DJ who spins some pretty chill beats. The restaurant isn't ever really that crowded on a Monday to give it that party vibe, but it's an excellent place to wind down to give yourself the boost you need to make it through the rest of the week. read more

The desserts were divine - the flavour of the cake reminded me of a Ferrero Rocher candy, so delicious. The Madeleines were served to us still warm, oh so good. We shared the firehouse poutine ($19), I ordered the lobster roll ($29), and my dad ordered the cobb salad with gulf shrimp ($19 + $14). My lobster roll was served on a toasted, buttery roll, contained large chunks of meat from both the tail and claws, and was accompanied with some perfectly-seasoned potato chips. This place is definitely not cheap, but ultimately you are paying for the ambience, the exceptionally high level of service, and of course the food! A well-deserved 5 stars. read more

The smart server noted my distraction, and sent over a bread basket--hadn't come when we ordered. In addition, my companion's salad came without the promised tofu. In both cases, no one offered to take our outer clothes--in Toronto in winter time. However, when I asked, they did so. I know Daniel, and I know his standards. He needs to take steps. read more

Hotel bars have always been my favorite although I've gone to fewer of them in recent years just because the cost of drinking is so much higher and often for much less. dBar remains an exception in that not only are the staff professional, particularly the hot female bartenders that work here, but also you get quality drinks and food that is worth the cost at the end of the night. The clientele helps to justify the splurge because you often meet very interesting people on any given night and who knows, may even hook up with someone if the chemistry is right. Had a horrible experience at dbar tonight. My first time here, went with a friend that comes often and another from out of town. On the plus side, the atmosphere is a great upscale Toronto vibe. Despite everything, if you're looking for a great spot for a date this place fits the bill aesthetically. But the service sucks, and the food isn't much better. We had a waiter of average personality who didn't appear to care much about our experience. When we were deliberating over the menu, instead of recommending or asking questions he seemed visibly annoyed and told us he would give us a minute to think about it before walking away. Ok, whatever. We were having a good time anyway. When the guy comes back, we're still undecided and so we ask for a recommendation and he curtly tells us the "wings and the ribs are good." I mean, I've seen servers at Kelsey's with more excitement about their menu than this dude. Fine, we order the wings and ribs. To be fair, we polished them off in short order. Pretty delicious, no complaints on that course! We were excited to try our mains. Two of us opted for the fried chicken sandwich. The other went with lamb and mint sausage on a bed of lentils. The sausage was small and skinny, and looked like a breakfast sausage link. The lentils were tasty.... but they were just lentils. The dish felt like a lunch special at a salad bar in a food court. Puzzlingly mediocre. My fried chicken sandwich was a disappointment after the great apps. I understand that fried chicken sandwiches are not the pinnacle of haute cuisine, but again I was left with a complexity of flavour that was similar to what I might expect at like... Big Smoke burgers at the eaton centre. Edible, and not bad, but bland and uninspired. The fries on the other hand, were the WORST. They were diner fries - the same cut and style that you might get with a burger at Denny's. Served with a ramekin of plain ketchup that tasted like French's. Pretty awful. So now the worst part - my friend's chicken sandwich is RAW throughout. I'm not talking about a gingerly cooked breast with a little pink... I'm talking FREAKING raw, sinewy and red in the middle. At this point we're getting flustered, and after trying to flag down our server unsuccessfully we hand it off to a bus boy. The server shows up a few minutes later to ask if we'd like it re-made, or if we wanted anything else. Fine, standard move... I expected a more sincere apology given the level of disgusting that they had served, but whatever. My friend was not hungry after having chewed on the rubbery innards of a raw chicken breast, and requested only a drink. The manager then came by to apologize so that was appreciated. So the food was a miss, but we were having drinks and a good time and so forgot all about it shortly after. Finally we're ready to go, so my friend requests the bill. The server shows up and hands us the bill... and it's only about $150 for our alcohol with no food on it. So at this point we chalk everything up to a busy night, and we're pleased with this seemingly classy move. The food was about $100 worth, and it seemed generous but fitting to comp it for having served us dangerously inedible food. So we're talking and walking towards the valet stand, when the server and security chase us down in the hall and insist that we're trying to skip out on the bill! We're pretty damn confused, and the server explains that he thought our friend had wanted a 'split' bill, which makes no sense because it included everyone's drinks and none of the food. We're obviously embarrassed and pissed that this scene has been made, and ask to speak to the manager, who is UTTERLY unapologetic and extremely rude. He did not apologize and dug in his heels that this 'miscommunication' was no big deal and we just needed to settle up. Obviously we did, and got out of there. At first the service was great then it went down hill- missing an order (chicken for a salad) that came 10 minutes later. Prices were not worth the taste of the food or the experience. Missing waitress as we needed more coffee/water. I will say this..the coffee was phenomimal but like a previous reviewer said, if you are staying at the hotel sure go and visit but I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for a spot to eat at. read more

I have come here for a few business meetings in the past when we both wanted to have cocktails and a snack. And let me tell you: this place is swanky. I mean, it is located in the heart of Yorkville. The bar in is in the heart of the Four Seasons hotel and was actually just recently made over. Think soft pink and grey, to take the perfect Instagram. The hostesses will guide you to a table, no reservations required. The bar has quite the cocktail list, but their Peach Margarita is a solid fave ($20). Each and every single time I have been here, we have always ordered the charcuterie and cheese ($31) and never been let down. I mean, it's perfect for nibbling will keep you satisfied. One of my favourite things about D-Bar is that it makes for really great people watching. You never know who you're going to see while there, or who might run into you. Best part: the bar has free wifi! If I can make a suggestion: remember to take a selfie in the Four Seasons bathroom. It has some of the best lighting for selfies in the city. read more

My husband and I have been coming here for a while now. We enjoy the great music and the chill atmosphere- in addition to the amazing scenery and flower bouquets that are on display in the lobby. In terms of the food selection - the menu that they recently changed it to (in November) is amazing. There are so many yummy options - we still haven't tried them all. Yesterday we got the grilled cheese platter , the fried artichokes and the mezzes dip with babaganoush/ labneh/ truffle hummus and vegetable skewers. All plates were delicious. The only part of the dip trio that we didn't enjoy was the babaganoush. Could use a little more flavor in our opinion. Other than that - thank you for a lovely night out ! read more

I got stranded in Toronto for a day due to my flight getting cancelled, so after getting myself checked in at the Four Seasons, I figured that keeping it simple and eating at DBar (or is it dbar?) would be the most convenient and simple option. On a weeknight a little before 8 PM, the lounge itself is pretty packed, but if you don't really care about being right next to the bar (or want a quieter area so you can actually hear yourself and your company), the couches and tables outside are a pretty solid alternative. Given the lack of folks who sat out there while I was around, it meant that I had pretty attentive service, with water, drinks and food coming out without much of a wait. The beer selection is admittedly on the lighter side, but the cocktails here are done pretty well (although, to be honest, I have zero idea why they don't have a uniform price for all of them, as opposed to varying them by $2 increments or thereabouts). I had 3 of them - a couple more fruit-forward cocktails, and one creative one that uses Suntory and matcha to create a very earthy yet full-bodied drink - and was pleased with how all of them came out. The drinks are crafted with more care than you'd find at your average bar. On the food front, I started with a half-dozen oysters, which they allow despite only listing a dozen as an option. I split between the East Coast (New Brunswick - quite delicious) and the West Coast option, which for some reason turned out to be from Ireland but had the same kind of plumpness as you'd find out in the western part of Canada or the U.S., but with a slightly less sweet finish. All were very good and definitely fresh as well. For the main, I stuck with something simple and did the house burger sans cheese. It was pretty straightforward - not the absolute best burger I have had, but still a pretty solid choice that filled me up. There's also a healthy serving of fries as a side - again, nothing too remarkable, but it hit the spot. As I'm not terribly familiar with Toronto's food and drink scene, especially in this part of town, I came away with a pretty good impression. Aside from the weak beer options, it is definitely pricier...that said, you are at a Daniel Boulud-branded spot, so there's going to be an inherent premium priced in for that as well. Overall, this spot feels like the 3.5-star average is about right, but I will round up because for a hotel bar (which, in my experience, isn't always great, even if it's a really nice hotel), it was somewhere I would not mind coming back to. read more

I come here often for drinks, both during the weekday and weekends and compared to other hotel bars (Shangri-La in particular), the service has always been consistently good even when very busy, so kudos to whoever runs Food & Beverage there. The crowd is a mix of neighbourhood regulars, businesspeople, hotel guests and people dressed up to the nines to be seen. Great spot for a quick lunch, on Tuesdays they have live music in the evening (which varies from good to unbearably bad). Fantastic wine list, if you want food: go upstairs to Cafe Boulud. read more
