I had words with the manager regarding my bill. When we got our bill for a table of 6, it included two gratuities. One for 18% and the other for 21%. I happened to check on the bill otherwise it would have been over $65 on just gratuity. I obviously thought the waitress was confused. I called the waitress (which is another problem in this place, good luck on your waitress or waiter coming in to check on you, you are constantly looking for them because they are no where to be found) and when she finally came over she was very annoyed that I pointed that out. She went and had the bill updated but she updated it with the 21% gratuity! I inquired why and she just said it's policy. I asked for the manager and she said to just look at the menu because it tells you that's 21% is correct. Still no manager. We all pulled up the menu and nowhere did it say 21%. However there is a spot that says "you may be charge a MINIMUM of 18%". You would never experience that in any upscale restaurant here in Jersey! They have their fancy little iPads and valet parking and birthday shout outs with the way they are robbing people. Please please there are other authentic Peruvian places that are absolutely lovely and the service and attention is beyond pleasurable. CAUTION BEWARE! I write this review in english even though all my interactions were in spanish, I think of people like my wife who are not spanish speakers and will be easily taken advantage of in a place like this. Even before entering you are greeted with valet parking with no alternatives. There is no street parking and the valet lot is an attached lot that you can easily park your car in yourself. This has become a common theme in similar restaurants (Noches de Colombia, La Fortaleza etc) Upon entering my group of 7 was greeted with a DJ blasting deafening music, so loud that my apple watch was constantly warned me of damage to my hearing because of the sound. I like to eat out to have a nice conversation with friends and to have a nice time. This place is a restaurant cosplaying as a club, be warned. The menu is an ipad. Cool if it was 2015 but its old outdated and annoying to navigate. This is important and I will touch on this again; at the bottom of the menu it clearly states "A miniumum of 18% gratuity will be added to all parties." The food is OK. If you want better flavor visit small mom and pop restaurants in downtown paterson where you will be WOW'd. Be careful what you order, there are frequent up-charges present and always ASK FOR THE PRICE. Ordering "Lomo" you might be asked "do you want the premium meat?" Ordering a drink maybe it comes with a "special shot." If a side is casually thrown in as an option, it is not included in the price and you will pay an additional $5+ per item easily. Here is where the big issue lies. Upon receiving the bill after eating our mediocre meal in a mediocre club and barely enjoying the presence of my friends I made the mistake of trusting people. I instantly placed my card in the bill and waited for it to be taken to be charged, luckily someone from my party looked at the bill and noticed TWO GRATUITY CHARGES, 18% and 20% added to the bill. When asked about the discrepancy the waitress made it seem like we were an inconvenience. I would like to believe in the best of people but seeing the pattern of predatory practices it is not hard for me to believe that these mistakes happen often. The corrected bill came back; remember what the menu said about 18% gratuity, well, the bill came back with 20% already added on. When confronted the waitress said that for groups larger than 6 the tip is 20%. I asked "where is this explicitly stated?" this was my mistake. She instantly got on the offense and refused to hear anything of what I was saying. I asked for a manager, she refused to come the first two times but when she finally made her grand entrance, she came in with an iPad in hand ready to debunk anything I was about to say. After a flimsy argument about 18% is the minimum and they can charge what they like at the moment based on service, she made us feel like we were hurting the people working there and that we were unruly guests. This was the first time I ever encountered a manager who could care less of our experience and was more interested in returning to her meal. Now I understand how this review can read as a privileged individual and I should just pay the 2% difference, but I ask you to think of the principle. If my wife were taken for a ride like this and not able to understand let alone defend herself, it would make me feel so hurt for her. Please double check everything at the restaurant, it is mediocre and if you like flashy lights with fake plants, bring a sandwich to the fake plant section at ikea. I guarantee you will have a better time. These places need to do better and stop treating their customers like bags of money. read more

Food is good and service is alright but if you don't speak Spanish or not exactly fluent in Spanish you really need a waiter or manager who does and not all of them do. My biggest ding to them is the music is way too loud! It's a restaurant and not a nightclub, with the lighting and music, sometimes live music, it can be just way too loud. It kinda suffers from an identity crisis. My advice is after 10p turn up the volume but before that make it so the patrons can talk and hear over the music... read more

Prices are insane especially drink prices and they don't tell you they add the tip in automatically, with is disgusting! They are dishonest

I ordered it a tallarín a la huacaina, and was the worst ever, no salt, the color was orange instead of yellow etc.. I called the manager to replaced for another plate, and told me I have to go and leave the plate and pay for the deliver it. I ordered it for many restaurants so when they make a mistake they come to my place to pick up the plate and replace it with the another one or give you credit next time that you order. This place doesn't have a proper manager to deal with this issues, this is a type fo restaurant that don't care about their loyal customers.Very disappointed. 18% mandatory service charge when they hand you out the check. And when they return it to you for signature for a credit card payment, it asks you again for a tip. I tip generously but if there is a service fee included on my bill, that's the tip, no questions asked, end of story. Never going back to this place with mediocre food. read more

It was great except the music was way too loud. Loved our server he was very attentive! Also the food was excellent. Can't wait to go back!

Ayer 05/13/24 fui a comer por el dia de la madre mis amigos ordenaron Tallarin verde, tallarin en salsa de huancaina, Lomo saltado y Yo ordene una Jalea, cuando llego la comida lo de mis amigos llegaron primero, platos grandes pero mi Jalea llego en un plato pequeno de sopa y supuestamente era el que mas costaba. Todo peruano sabe y se imagina como se sirve una jalea. Que decepcion, parecia una entrada lleno de yuca, dos pedacitos de pescado, harto calamar y 2 camarones y parece que se les acabo la cebolla que supuestamente tenia que ir encima. Nice atmosphere and good Peruvian food. The service is OK, but they charge an extra fee for paying with a credit or debit card

Went there for a drink when they first opened, went into the basement and bartender was MIA for a while. They didn't have menus and gave us her cocktail book. We only stayed for a drink but she was gone for 35 minutes as we were alone down there. Finally a bar back came down and we asked him for the check and he couldn't help us. read more

Went here to try the new location. Never been to the other locations and wow the food 10/10. Portions were huge literally enough for two people. I had the jalea which had crabs yuca fries muscles and the shrimp calamari and other seafood! We also got half a chicken with rice and maduros and side of tostones so good. The rice was interesting texture but everyone makes rice differently. The drinks !!! 10/10 I had the flight and some thing like the bulldog with beer and shots in it 10/10. They had a dj there played some good music and after we went downstairs for their lounge/club definitely would recommend for a girls night! They had valet parking and the service was great very friendly and quick service. read more

I been here 3 times , first the valet parking guy ask for a minimum $5.00 tip, and then at the lounge bar a bartender, charge more that what I order and then I give him 2 $ 20.00 bill one he claims I give only one but another person said I give him 2 bills of 20.00 not only happened here I told the manager and she take me out, she doesn't even have education, by the way other people was complaining about same issue read more

Watch out! I placed a takeout order and had one beer at the bar while waiting. They put 18% gratuity on my entire bill! I won't be going back. I noticed after paying with a card. That's balls. Won't be returning. Food was just ok. The Lomo was light on meat and 95% rice. read more
