The bread is really good tasting, but it gets everywhere when you eat. Even after shaking my clothes off I still ended up getting bread crumbs in my car. Many of the servers can be very nice, but some of them are a little rude. You'll either get your food very fast, or you'll be stuck waiting for way too long. Make sure to always double check your order since they sometimes forget items when bagging up your order, especially hot items. Then there is the prices vs the portions you get being disproportionate. There's not a lot of meat in the regular sandwiches, but if you put in every free veggie they offer it does kind of even out. Just make sure to get extra oil if you do add the sprouts. Ultimately, this is a place to go to for a little bite of nostalgia. There is nothing like a D'Elias Grinder, they have been a staple in Riverside since 1953! I remember eating these as a little girl, we insisted on getting them every time we went out to my grandmother's house (and we currently still stop EVERY time we go out to the desert or to Vegas or really for no reason at all we just drive out on a random Sunday) We can't stay away! They still taste exactly as I remember 40ish years ago... and that is one of the best things about D'Elias, they literally have not changed the quality or the taste over the years. You know exactly what to expect and it always tastes the same... Oh and I CAN confidentially confirm... it really IS the bread! (p.s. Have patience when you go here, the in-restaurant service is usually always slow. Sometimes it's because they get a LOT of takeout orders (catering and food delivery services like door dash etc... and a lot of phone in orders) and unfortunately sometimes it's slow because they have a bunch of high school aged kids (that lack proper management) and stand around and chit chat... We ordered through DoorDash, so I'm not actually sure if It was this location or the other. Either way, my comments shouldn't make a difference if their products are the same, which I would assume they are. For two people we decided to split 3 1/2 sandos, anticipating leftovers. We ordered a 1/2 Cuban with extra meat 9 (given all the reviews complaining about not enough meat) and extra cheese. This was the best of the three but not by much. Way too salty. Only processed ham, no roasted pork, as ALL cuban sandwiches have. (true, if Id looked closely I would have seen that don't list roast pork in the description. But then how do you pretend to call in a Cubano? We then ordered a 1/2 8 0z sand with smoked turkey. A half 1/2 lb, with D'ble... so should be 1 lb of meat, on a 1/2 lb sando where we chose only smoked turkey. The smoked turkey was disgusting. Slmimy, Too thick, poor quality. I believe it's the Jennie O stuff they sell at Vallarta. It was gross. The texture of the meat made the sandwich unpalatable. seriously, it was nasty. We threw it in the trash.
