Pretty packed the day we went, but luckily the line moved fast so we didn't have to do much waiting. Unfortunately the day we went, they were out of a bunch of flavors, mostly the fruit flavors that we typically gravitate towards. We ended up getting some ice cream to try anyways and it was yummy & creamy. We ordered one with strawberry + butter pecan, and another with willy wonka explosion. I really enjoyed the strawberry + butter pecan; strawberry had a bunch of strawberries in it & butter pecan was subtle but you could definitely still taste the butter + pecan. The Willy wonka explosion is perfect for if you're someone who loves chocolate candies like M&Ms, butter fingers, & snickers. The staff was very kind, they've got their own parking lot that's free to park, and a cute little seating area to enjoy your ice cream! Will definitely remember to come back the next time I'm in the area and try their fruit flavors!

Order window, a ton of flavors to choose from (too bad the 3 flavors i wanted were out of stock that day) but i felt the ice cream was a heavier creamy style, tons of flavor and something for everyone. It's ice cream so any sweets for me in moderation! Def want to come back to try the sorbets!

And, well, I won't keep you in suspense but that first bite of the salted honey butter and jam biscuit was transcendental. It was a little crumbly but so chewy and moist, and the jam and honey butter combo was incredible. Indescribable. They have so many pastry options, as well as breakfast sandwiches, but I really had eyes only for the biscuits. Also tried the cheddar scallion biscuit - amazing. I'm running out of adjectives to describe how good these were. The key for super flaky, tender biscuits is using very, very cold butter and not mixing the dough too much. It was cool to watch people baking in the back kitchen. Got the quiche as well. Tasty, with a nice mix of egg and veggies and cheese, with a well-made crust, but next time I would just get more biscuits. Lots of free parking spots in front and nearby. There's little space inside the store, which makes the queue a bit unwieldy, but it does move quickly and it's well worth the wait (and the drive).

The bakery items are the stars of the show, though their gluten free option was one sad small almond cookie. They have brewed coffee, no espresso. They use beans from Portland, ME. I was visiting beautiful downtown Beverly and searching for a spot with great coffee and (fingers…read morecrossed) some gluten-free pastries. I found Crave through the Find Me Gluten-Free app, and the high ratings definitely lived up to the hype! It was just a quick, easy drive, and the bakery was easy to spot. Inside, it's super cute, clean, and welcoming. The menu was surprisingly full of gluten-free options--from breakfast sandwiches to coffee drinks--and their pastry case had about 8-10 different gluten-free and/or dairy-free goodies. I went with the blueberry lemon scone and WOW. It was unreal. Moist and cake-like (not dry and crumbly like many GF scones), with a light glaze and a perfect lemony-sweet flavor. I literally almost cried--it was that good. I savored every bite and was honestly glad I don't live closer, or I'd be there every single day. I also grabbed a cold brew, which they brew in-house and serve on tap. It was strong, smooth, and delicious--just how I like it. Whether you're gluten-free by choice or necessity, Crave is a must-visit. Friendly staff, delicious options, and a cozy vibe--what more could you want? Do yourself a favor and stop in. You won't be disappointed!

We were in the middle of placing an order and they shut down their online system for 15 minutes. So we waited. Two egg sandwiches, one croissant, a coffee with an espresso shot, a hot latte and a chai tea latte. Nothing unusual. Their system said the order would be ready two minutes after it was placed. That's just silly, so we waited 10 minutes before heading over. We arrived and picked up our bag with all the items listed on the receipt and headed back. Turns out, two items were missing that we had already paid for. We now headed back once again to Crave. We thought that maybe we forgot a bag, but no, they just failed to add two items and let us leave. "We tried to call you but your line was busy," was the answer, but that's simply not true. I wasn't on the phone and I have a cell phone -- busy signals do not apply. There was no record of an incoming call either. The attitude of staff was not apologetic whatsoever. A simple, "We're so sorry" would have sufficed. One of the items we had ordered was now out of stock. In fact, one staff member said, "You're the third customer today who didn't get their cinammon croissant," which only revealed the failure of their ordering process. With limited options, we chose the Nutella croissant as a substitute. Returned home and finally ate. One sandwich was delicious (bacon-egg-cheese on a ciabatta roll) but the other had sriracha instead of ketchup as requested -- made a big difference in taste which we did not like. The replacement pastry we were forced to choose tasted very stale and not so much of Nutella. Coffee with a shot and the latte didn't taste particularly strong. Iced chai latte was fine, but nothing to write home about. Not worth $54 -- including a tip for staff that we wished we could rescind. Would NOT return, especially not with all the breakfast options in Beverly. Hard pass.

If I'm being completely honest we expected the food to be ok but not the best as that's typically how places like this are. We were so wrong!! We started with the mozzarella sticks and they were out of this world. Next up was Caesar salads; not the best but still good- they needed more dressing and it needed to be a creamier dressing but the lettuce blend was fresh and they put a ton of cheese and croutons. Unfortunately we had to take our dinners to go as we were running short on time. We should have planned to have been there longer; this was the only issue we had. Unfortunately they only had two servers and they were slammed. The food was great but the service just too long. If we didn't have somewhere to be we wouldn't have been phased by it; we wouldn't have even noticed how long everything took because we were so immersed in the environment. When we got home we had our dinners and again we were expecting them to just be ok because we were heating them up. Again we were wrong! I had the short rib sandwich and it was AMAZING, loaded with onions and mushrooms it was crazy good. My husband had the steak tips and again phenomenal. We will definitely be back when we have nothing to do afterwards. *I'd like to add the staff was great just very busy!

In 2024, the limited edition Sabrina Carpenter Espresso ice cream sold out very fast. I stopped by Van Leeuwen in Peabody after dinner. The friendly staff member offered me free samples of ice cream before I decided to get the Goodest ($9.60 plus tax) choice of 3 flavor scoops in a cup. I got the Earl Grey Tea, Vegan Summer Sweet Potato & Marshmallow Fluff and Sweet Corn & Blueberry Jam. They do not accept cash at checkout, but they have a cash to card converter machine in the back. There is limited seating inside the shop and outside patio tables & chairs in front of the store. I enjoyed the interesting flavors I chose for my dessert, not overly sweet, but light with robust flavors. The core flavors of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream are also in stock at my local Walmart in NH, but I still enjoy going to an actual Van Leeuwen Ice Cream scoop shop for the experience and a nice treat.
