I only write a review if a business is phenomenal or horrendous. Luckily, my experience at D'Mar was the former. I needed two new headlight bulbs replaced. I bought the part for $5 each from the dealership service center. When I asked for a quote, they said $250 for both. The justification was that they would have to remove my bumper to do so. Firestone was around $200. A nearby dealership was a little less. D'Mar was roughly 6 TIMES less than my original quote. Why? Because they are HONEST about how long things are going to take, and how complex a service truly is. Bottom line - their Intension is to give you an honest assessment, make sure you're safe, and give you high quality service and honest advice. By far and away my. BEST car experience ever. I've been bringing my car to this business for the last five years or so. Junior is an excellent mechanic. First of all, he doesn't over charge and is very honest. He'll explain exactly what he thinks is wrong with your car and will offer suggestions if there is more than one way to solve the problem. 3 times I have been here and 3 times impressed. First time was when I brought my 2003 Tundra in, after my old mechanic (who maybe didn't like the rust under my vehicle) said he did not know what was wrong with my truck. However, Junior at D'Mar drove it 50 feet and immediately identified a broken strut. He replaced the struts and the truck drives so much better now, with no noise. And he didn't complain about the rust! Second time, D'Mar did a pre buy on a Lexus SUV for me. Bottom line: the Lexus needed too much work, so I did not buy it. D'Mar spent over an hour looking it over, but didn't want to take any money since I was an existing customer. The third time time was last week when D'Mar did a 105K mile service on my Outback (timing belt, etc.). After I got it back, I noticed a new vibration noise. Bottom line is D'Mar stands 100 percent behind their work. They fixed the noise (which was not actually a result of their service) and didn't want to accept any money for that. Very surprised to see that Junior would not return my calls about doing some work on my old car, I asked about having my shocks and mounts looked at. He promised to call me with a price quote but I never heard back from him, So I called and he told me to bring the car down for him to take a look at. When I arrived yesterday, he was not there, or at least that's what his mechanic says. If they are too busy to work on my car, then that is all they have to tell me and I won't bug them. I thought I have always been a good customer--paying on time with cash and not squawking about how long repairs took. Started off by bringing my car here for a simple problem ended up changing some parts on my car was told he can't compete with the prices around town and for me to buy my own parts. Whatever I get would be fine these parts get installed in my car my problem was never resolved and with changing these parts I'm having the worst, knocking, and creaking sound. You could imagine. Finally, we get the original problem resolved after replacing three things that were not causing the problem not only have I spent three times the amount of money I should have now I'm stuck with these trash parts on my car that are causing horrible sounds. These guys are super nice and have taken the time to check out my car multiple times but within the last four months having to call back multiple times and being assured, my car is great and then a week later the noises come back in full force, and worse than they ever have, I should've went with my gut f were deeded have seen another mechanic after my first experience it pains me to write this review because he has been nothing but nice to me, but I just feel like I have been taken advantage of him at my car gets worse every time I get it back. fed read more

I've never actually been excited to write a review until now! When I say TOP TIER customer service I mean it. JR is such a knowledgeable and generous guy. I recently had the wrong alternator put in and he went above and beyond to ensure the correct part was put in. These guys are the real deal. I took my car into their shop when it wasn't working. They changed out the throttle and it still wasn't working. He then reversed the work and recommended another auto place that has more equipment. He didn't even charge for the labor. The other guys ended up confirming the throttle needed replacement and then there were some electrical items that needed fixing. The total cost was more than I wanted to invest into a Saturn. Basically these guys are honest and now I am going to take my current car to him this coming Monday and when I purchase a new car he will be my mechanic. I find it real hard to find honest and nice guys in this industry...jackpot! read more

Took my car here because it wouldn't turn over, it wouldn't start. I work on my own cars until I either lack the equipment to do the job properly and safely, or I reach the end of my troubleshooting and can't find the issue. I understand what it takes to do a job, how intensive it can be, and the complexities. The mechanics took my head off the block and found corrosion, they said that it was even too much in certain areas that even with machining it, it could lack the compression needed. After looking at it and talking to my machinist friend, I agreed that it was the right call. My issue is with how much they charged me, they charged $200 just to remove the head and tell me my engine was gone. That job took 20-30 minutes max. This garage charges far too much. I recommend Sunset Garage off of Santa Monica and Bacon. A lot more honest there. read more

Severe time management issues going on here. I was told to bring my truck in at a specific time. The owner was with another customer so I waited. He helped me briefly then returned to the previous customer and made me wait another 15 minutes. Not the best introduction but I let it go. Shouldn't have - the man doesn't seem to understand that he doesn't have unlimited time to do a job. My truck sat for 3 days with nothing done to it. He wanted to keep it over the weekend but wouldn't guarantee he'd get to it Monday. Not a chance. Frustrating waste of time. read more

I travel a lot and being a young female I feel like often times auto repair shops try to trick me into paying more than I should be.. Not here! My brakes had been squeaking and I had a big move the following week. They explained that my rotors and brake pads needed replaced. They took my tires off to show me exactly the work that needed done and why. I felt very well educated and after doing some research, the price I paid was great for what I needed done!
