Hector did some routine maintenance on my 2014 Mazda 3. He was honest and responsive, and he did a great job.

This business is operating under a deliquent license with the BAR and the owner, Hector and his employee, Sergio do not take accountability for their mistakes. I came in and told them I believed I had a leak from the water pump and I had the parts to replace. They did a diagnostic and called me and told me it was multiple heater hoses. I authorized the repair and during that repair they damaged the fire wall for my heater core rendering it useless and called me and told me my heater core was leaking and damaged. My heater core never had a leak, they just damaged it in replacing the heater hoses. They gave me my car back with a broken heater core and it was still leaking. I brought it back to them and they said "we don't want to work on your car it's too much of a liability". At first they said my car was too old, then they said it was rusted. They said "it actually is your water pump," but they didn't want to do the repair. Sergio said "we aren't the best mechanics that's why I'm referring you somewhere else". When I went to pick up my vehicle I called the shop at to ask if it was ready to be picked up and nobody answered. Sergio called me right after they closed and said, that everything is in the car and the keys are on the tire. I said I would be there in 5 minutes. He said he had to go and left my car there, with the keys, without my authorization. I tried to settle this dispute with the owner to pay for replacing my heater core but he does not want to take accountability for the damage the technicians have done to my vehicle. I went to a reputable shop and got it repaired and a quote for a heater core repair and sent it to Hector, the owner. Hector told me to go ahead and report him because he wasn't going to do anything about it. Stay away from this shop. read more

I love this shop! I came in to get my car looked at for a noise when braking. Hector looked at the car and told me my rear pads and rotors were metal on metal sadly. I took it to another shop prior to bringing it here. And they tried selling me i believe a wheel hub and rear brakes and shocks. Basically more than 2K. Hector did a double inspection and said everything else is fine. It's been a month since I came here and my car runs amazing! Also thank you Hector for showing me the bad parts and being completely honest. He also gave me a free quote and inspection prior to the repair and I am grateful for this honest business. read more

Another above and beyond experience with Sergio and Hector at Rosecrans Automotive. I am so thankful for these guys! I won't take my car anywhere else because of how fair, honest, skilled, and easy they are to work with here. Sergio needed a part for my vehicle which was under warranty, therefore prompting the parts dealer to take his sweet time with delivery (since he wasn't making money off a warranted piece of equipment). Sergio even offered to drive all the way from Point Loma to Escondido to get the part himself! He really wanted to get the job done for me that same day. Again, I called the shop right as I discovered some alert lights on my dash, and Sergio let me drive right over so he could get started on my car. He gave me a discount on labor, too! Hector is the man! On a rainy day he put my car in the lift and showed me what was wrong! He dropped what he was doing to check out my car. He said "Let me pull of the wheels really quick to show you the problem" He pulled the wheels off and showed me that it was not my brakes or hub. Brought my 2007 GMC pickup in with an OBD code, and a ticking, in what sounded like valve train. Hector diagnosed and showed me the low compression on one cylinder. He rebuilt the top end basically, and replaced my bad camshaft. He was easy to work with and kept me posted through the whole process. What a wonderful auto shop! I came there a few days ago to see if they could repair the undercarriage flashing on my 2007 Rav4 4WD Ltd, which had gotten damaged when I was off-roading and hit a rock. (Toyota had told me earlier that they would have to take it to a body shop for many $$$). But Rosecrans Auto had fixed this before for me, years ago, so I went back. I talked to Hector and he set up an appt for Wedn at 0930 and when I arrived, another very conscientious mechanic, who already had quite a few jobs lined up that day, said he would take care of it, if I would give him about 40 minutes. I came back, and it was all fixed with new attachment snaps!! And he would not take any $ for it and said he hoped I had a great day. Worst experience with getting breaks put on in my entire life! It took 7 hours to get my breaks put on and 1,000 bucks later which I have never paid more than 100 bucks for my breaks. Not very friendly or professional people here. I saw a coupon in the little coupon book I get at home thought it would be a great deal and it was close to home but this was the most stressful car situation I have endured! I will never go back to refer these people to anyone!!! read more

Support your local garage? Not this one. Owner said: "I can fix anything." Not a misfiring 2004 Isuzu. He tried plugs and wires, catalytic converters ($$$), many sensors: No joy. A month tinkering, then he sent it to another garage. Fuel pump, worth a few hundred bucks. The bill? $3800. Settled on less, but still got hosed. read more
