We do takeout from this location at least once a month; it's hard to beat two meals delivered including tax and tip for $22. We've tried a combination of different calzoni and now learned to order from a few select favorites. My only gripe is that they nearly never mark the boxes with the name of your food selection, so we always have to break the calzone apart to see what stuffing is in there. The other thing I would love is if they offered the full menu. I'd love to try the Strike Zone, or the Falling Rock Zone, etc :( read more

Let me start by saying that I love DP Dough in Denver. The Calzones are good and they have the best cookies ever. However, I moved to the Springs and decided to order DP Dough for lunch and was happy they had a location here. Well, that was a mistake. I ordered a chicken fajita calzone, 3 Peanut Butter and chocolate chip cookies and a side of chicken wings. None of it was prepared correctly. They put steak in my chicken fajita calzone, the dough was burned, but the cheese wasn't melted. The cookies were overly burned and didn't taste anything like the amazing cookies at the Denver location. It's likely they used too much baking soda or something. The wings were not cooked all of the way through and soggy. The food just sucked all the way around. I am posting this in hopes it gets to their corporate management so they can do something about the staff because I know how good they are in Denver, these guys in the Springs need a wake up call and training on how to cook. read more

I had only tried DP Dough once in Greeley and remember it being extremely greasy. However, I decided to give it another shot and the Colorado Springs location did not disappoint! My roommates and I ordered delivery through Yelp (convenient). It was still hot upon arrival and delivered early! I don't know... something like forever (1AM during the week, 2AM on weekends). So, if you're hungry late, this is a good choice. I've had to start taking a new way home from work because of construction and I kept passing this place and wondering about it. I ended up ordering online and picking up and we are in love! First of all, this is the first place I have placed an order online for hot food and it was ready exactly on time so that gives them points for sure. And the food was packed well and still hot when we were ready to eat. My very favorite thing is the pepperoni rolls- they were perfect to me and are now my favorite in town (over Old Chicago's and Joey's). Delicious. The ordering of the calzones was easy and I love how specific you can be on their online menu and on their boxes. And our orders were correct (which shouldn't be remarkable but lately it is). My husband got the Combat Zone and thought the flavor was great and he'd get it again. I got their special (they have a featured calzone from the menu that is a dollar off) which was the chicken, bacon, mozzarella one and to was very good! They have a lot of sauce options but the marinara was good on the side and it was warm too. Their menu is fun with something for almost everyone. The tater tots were the only thing that was underwhelming- they got soggy quickly. Even the peanut butter chocolate chip cookie was tasty and I wish I had ordered more than one. My husband and I are continuing to get calzones with raw edges. A few times we got apologies and have them remake them. We were told to ask for thin edges and well done to make sure that we didn't get raw dough on the edges, our most recent order the cheese wasn't fully melted on mine and the Mac and cheese was still lukewarm. My husband had one with no cheese but the dough was so raw it looked like cheese. The manager claimed he cooked them twice and issued a refund but they were not eatable. read more

Is by far my favorite pizza calzone spot like ever. This time I ordered a Maui Wowie a combat zone and falling rocks calzone I requested extra sauce on the side. The food was hot and fresh the calzones are perfectly creamy and filled with loads of items like ham, cheese and pineapple in the Maui Waui it is so good, I order a calzone at least once a week now. We have had great service from here, that is until to night. Placed an online order that with a coupon code should have been $6.00 for each calzone. There was no plce on the site for the code to be entered. So we called the store, (who had already ran my credit card) and was told there was nothing they could do. I did get heated and tell them I could cancel the order, at that point got all kinds of run around. I told them to just let it stand, but the person taking the order went ahead and cancelled my order. When I called back to find out when it would be delivered, that's when I was told it had been canceled...and they still ran my card. The food here is really not great. I ordered cinnamon bread and the cheese bread and they were both really doughy and flavorless, and I mean bland. It's hard to make something covered with cheese bland, but this place managed it. I think one of the big problems is the dough. It was a weird texture and tasted like nothing. read more

We ordered 2 calzones from work today. The Cordon Bleu and the Italian. It took about 35 mins to be delivered and we work about 10 minutes away. We were not impressed at all with the Cordon Bleu calzone. There was NOT enough ingredients that filled the calzone at all. I think 2 different people must have made the calzones. The Italian was full of meat, and the cheese was oozing everywhere. WTH? DP Dough...Not a way to get repeat customers from a business full of employees. Well, from reading all the "5" ratings, all I can figure is that the owner and employees are trying to make this place look better than it is. The calzones are average. Locally, here in Colorado Springs, Panino's makes a much better calzone and offers other options as well. I will say that the box the calzone comes in makes you hopeful... but when you open the box, you find plenty of extra space. The calzone is not large by any means. If you are determined to do this.... call your order in ahead or order online...or bring a book. Even if you are the only one there, it isn't quick. The most memorable part of the experience was the heart burn from the sauce. I was there at 12:00 noon and it is now almost 8:00 pm and I can still taste it. :( I guess what turned me off the most was they were quick to say pick any two calzones for $10 today (Wednesday special) But... when I picked one of the $6.95 menu and one off the $7.50 list, it turns out the $7.50 calzones aren't part of the "2 for $10" special. Would have been nice if there was a place to sit and eat too. You kinda had to stand around with a semi-strange crowd or sit on a plastic chair in the corner. Every college kid praises this place but not me. I went for lunch with a friend. It's a hole in the wall, poorly decorated and located. It's almost sketchy. It was dead, a bad sign for business. The staff there was bored, lingering around and being unhelpful. They eyed us until we ordered and were super quiet - it felt uncomfortable. They barely promote what's going on or cater to the needs of customers. They were only decently polite when spoken to but nothing more. They didn't even want to be there judging from their behavior. They claim to have variety but that was the last thing I saw. Menu is hard to read but items are extremely basic. Waiting for food took over 30 minutes! It was ridiculous! After, we bit into disappointment. Our calzones were bland and warmed over. The dough was under cooked, they have no idea how to season their food much less know what salt is, and their sauce tastes like it was right out of a can. BLUF: Great, cheap late night munchies spot for after bar hopping in downtown Colorado Springs. Order the Mauiwowi Calzone and you won't regret it. Expect slow service though, even when you place an order ahead of time. After bar hopping in downtown Colorado Springs, we decided to find something to eat. Unfortunately, we didn't leave until Cowboys closed which was at just past 2AM, all the pizza joints nearby on the street was closed so we took an Uber to back to our hotel and made a stop at DP Dough after finding out its late closing time on Yelp. Once we made a decision to stop by, I called 25 minutes ahead of time to order two calzones. I was told that it would be ready in 15 minutes but when I arrived 25 minutes later, I still had to wait another 15 minutes. Wasn't too big of a problem since I wasn't in a rush to get anywhere but it did add to our fare. The Mauiwowi was essentially a Hawaiian pizza turned into a calzone. The calzone was delicious and the dough was chewy just how I like it. The tomato sauce was thick and rich as well. This would have gotten a 4-maybe 5 stars had the wait not been so long which was quite unfortunate. read more
